I felt Goff was already a pretty good communicator, especially when considering his age. But man do I feel like he is having McVay sprinkled into his daily 'rhythm'. I actually feel it with a lot of players.

Takeaways....

Aaron ain't sayin sh*t about the negotiations and lays it all on his agent. Smart...but disingenuous. I will say this, he is risking his negotiating stance by playing because one injury can cost him millions so...he'd be smart to take what's on the table NOW because it won't get any better the next couple years. If his agent doesn't realize that, Aaron needs to get new representation.

Sean is growing weary of these questions but to his credit, he hides it well. I loved the question about Hav and Brown getting high grades by PFF and how McVay said that unless you've been in the meeting rooms and actually know their assignments, you can't evaluate the execution of their play. McVay is no fan of PFF...next question. Addressing his association with Washington, all politically correct answers, the writers will have to manufacture substance.

Goff was well prepped to the point I was looking to see if Sean had his hand up Jared's ass while I checked to see if his lips were slightly moving. But it's not what Goff said that impressed me, it was his confidence and maturity. As a fan, I like knowing as much as I can about the team but if I were McVay...I'd try to keep Jared from having to speak to the media since he's not going to say anything not prepared by Sean. Jared is handling it professionally but I'd bet my house that he doesn't like press conferences any more than he liked Hard Knocks. I say leave Jared alone to prepare. He can answer questions on media day before the Super Bowl and again during the offseason.

I think it killed AD to be away from team..." wanna be a part of it..." Did he seem a little embarrassed?

Maybe you didn't make the best decision holding out AD, but welcome back...everyone makes mistakes.

Goff thinks the run game looked good today....

While that is encouraging, the Indy game showed me we have issues with our run defense that won't disappear just because AD has returned. McVay is who he is, a passing game coordinator who will lean on Kromer to develop the run game. I'm not sure they are compatible but time will tell.

Seems like every great dynasty from NFL history has taken on the personality of its head coach in some way. Let's hope the Rams are the next one!!

I liked that grin McVay was sporting while talking about Donald. "Positive & optimistic" were his words, but you could tell he's liking having this new 'beast' of his getting prepared to rumble for him.

I think he wanted to come back but was okay with staying away... Until McVay showed him just how much he cared.

Reporter: "What would you say is the biggest difference between the way he(McVay) calls the game vs the way last years coaching staff called the game?"

Goff: "He does a great job."

I turned off the AD vid halfway through. Aaron has never been a guy who's comfortable in front of reporters and cameras but damn...those reporters are just unbearable. STOP asking questions that you know you're NOT going to get an answer to. His press conference should have been about 60 seconds long.

Like Vermeil?

:hiding:
Yes.
We already know that McVay lets his coaches "coach" though, which was a problem with Vermeil throughout until the Rams got good. That was a contributing factor in Vermeil's burn out. We also know that McVay eats & sleeps football which is great but there's an awful lot of pressure on this guy. I'm hopeful that with veteran coaching around him he can avoid all that.

It's funny because he was definitely trying to give a PC answer, but it didn't work out lol.

McVay continues to impress but i hope he's not one of those guys that burns himself out too soon.

Pretty tough on a 31 year old single dude trying to make a relationship work with as demanding a job as McVay has. 6 months of 18 hour days and an off-season which consists of even more film while preparing for free agency and the draft. I don't know if he has a girlfriend, but that kind of life would be pretty hard on both of them, even with the perks. Most Head Coaches have developed while spending years rising thru the ranks, they are primarily middle-aged, married and have older kids or the kids are already off to college or grown, a time when a lot of their wives are happy to get their husbands out the door so they can do whatever. At 31/32 and single, he's covering some new ground as a HC, ... hopefully he finds a generous young woman who can help ground him, someone who can deal with the long hours and travel. Either that or find a very discreet escort service which really delivers. :censored:

Looking back on last season and the shitshow that was..if there was a silver lining to Goffs rookie year, it is this:
He barely learned anything.
Thank God they didn't start him all year in that mess.
I mean, Goff kinda came in to the league not knowing much about the pro-offense. After his rookie year, he still didn't know much. It's a good thing that Keenum was given the starts and the reps and the attention of the coaches. Goff is learning to speak McVay. He is learning to think in McVays language and see the game through his coaches eyes.
The less Jared learned about offensive football from Fisher, Boras and co., the better. Only seven starts of bad habits and of playing the game within a fundamentally flawed system. Nothing good for Jared Goff was going to happen by being the starter last year.

What an awesome freaking time to be a Rams fan. We have talented young quarterback with a lot to learn and a brilliant young Coach with a lot to teach. If this partnership really clicks, Goff will be worth more 1st round picks than the Rams whiffed on from '06 to '16...
