After weighing retirement in the offseason, Rams star Aaron Donald and his wife, Erica, are shopping around their custom Calabasas estate for $6.25 million.

The listing arrives two months after Donald helped the Rams win the Super Bowl in a dominant performance that left some wondering whether he would return the following season. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year recently confirmed that he’s been in talks with the team but hasn’t yet publicly announced a return.

Set on nearly an acre, the 7,036-square-foot mansion is found in the Oaks of Calabasas, a guard-gated, star-studded neighborhood with other celebrity residents over the years including Katie Holmes and Bret Michaels. Six bedrooms and seven bathrooms are spread across the two-story floor plan, which also includes a step-down lounge, open-concept kitchen and self-contained guest quarters.

Set on an acre, the private compound includes a 7,000-square-foot home, basketball court, billiards room and swimming pool.

The star defender has an eye for decorating as well. Listing photos show that Donald made a few aesthetic changes during his stay, bringing sleek shades of gray to the living spaces and adding a barbershop.

The amenities continue outside, where a 1,500-square-foot glass-covered patio overlooks a zero-edge swimming pool. A fireplace and basketball court complete the scene.
Considered one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history, Donald was drafted by the Rams in 2014 and has racked up 441 tackles and 98 sacks in eight seasons. The Pittsburgh native has been named to eight Pro Bowls and thrice won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award, joining Lawrence Taylor and J.J. Watt as the only players to win the award three times.
Jordan Cohen of RE/MAX One holds the listing.

Sigh.

In recent weeks, we've learned:

1. That AD is negotiating a new contract.
2. That AD told McVay he's coming back.
3. That AD is working out (posted video just yesterday).
4. That AD recruited Bobby Wagner to join the Rams.
5. That AD has publicly stated that he's hungry to pursue another title.

I'm not worried about him retiring.
The Rams are not trading him.
obviously you suffer from normalcy bias....

That agent couldn't sell lemonade let alone a house. Cohen is the heavy hitter agent for the area and Westlake Village.

6.25 mil doesn't buy you much these days. My guess is he wants a place with at least a little land.

All in all though, I doubt this means anything as far as playing football.

That new contract is more Beverly Hills than Calabasas...

If I had big money and played for the Rams I do believe I'd buy a harbor house in Huntington or Newport. One with a slip for my boat. I've always wanted to simplify shit and live on a boat even though I'd probably hate it lol. But given the kind of coin AD makes you can have the best of both worlds. :sunglasses:

Probably wants to live closer to the new practice facility.
Ya know - shorter commute. Less gas/electricity. More savings.
More time with the fam....
I dunno - just spit-balling here.... :zany1: :laugh1:

You'd be driving 3 hours one-way to make practice every day...

Calabasas isn't more than about a 15-20 minute drive from the new facility in WH.

Frankly, having lived in Calabasas myself 30 years ago, not sure how it ever became a high-end destination. There's not much in the city-proper. For most anything you're driving to Agoura/Westlake Village/TO or into the Valley.

Yeah that sucks but I'd just keep a small apartment near the Rams facility and stay over on certain nights to reduce the wear and tear of that commute.

Wasn't it Rivers that commuted from SD to LA when the renters moved to LA? I remember a video of his chauffeur driven vehicle that had a film room built into it. He refused to move his family to LA - I think to try to make a point. He was very vocal about wanting the Chargers to stay in SD.

Except that Calabasas is basically just down the street from Woodland Hills, probably less than a 5 mile commute. Ocean cool/view properties of Topanga Canyon & Tuna Canyon near Fernwood are also quite close to Woodland Hills, maybe an 8 to 10 mile commute.

People sell their homes for a variety of reasons. He could be thinking of buying 2 new homes. One for the family and off-season like in someplace like Santa Barbara and a second home close to where the new practice facility is going to be. I left LA because of the traffic and other environmental reasons. AD has 3 kids and it could be that AD is thinking about their long-term future. I moved to San Diego, for family reasons despite my business being in Long Beach. I was willing to commute to work so that my family could live in La Costa and my kid would grow up in a better environment.

I have no regrets and think it was a great move on my part. Philip Rivers refused to move to LA because of his family and also commuted to work. IMO family dictates where you live more than work.

BTW I'd rather live in Malibu if I had AD's money. Where would you rather live? Calabasas or Malibu just a simple commute via Topanga canyon to their new facility/

Yeah, he did.

Note, that he wasn't doing the driving, LOL.
