I still want to shoot for FA pickups at CB and EDGE. The Chiefs have let their CBs go in the past, so going after Sneed would be perfect. He's young too.

There are multiple options at EDGE.

My preference is to re-sign Dotson and Shelton to keep the band together, then sign FAs at CB, EDGE and S. Probably cut Noteboom and restructure someone if needed to make that happen.

Then in the draft focus on WR/OL/CB/RB, then depth at secondary defensive need spots like ILB and DL.

We’re not going to be able to afford all of that wishlist. Although we have a high projected cap space figure, we have to set aside money from that for this year’s draft class and dead cap money.

A top edge is expensive. Burns and Allen are both probably going to be franchised. At cornerback, most of the top guys will also get tagged. At safety, I would love us to get Antoine Winfield from Tampa but- you guessed it- he’s probably going to be slapped with the franchise tag, too.

The prudent approach would be to lock up our key free agents- Dotson, Shelton and Robinson- for continuity’s sake and then build through the draft.

If the opportunity arises to land a real difference maker through FA, go for it. Otherwise, save those pennies for when we need to replace Stafford, AD and Kupp. That day will be here sooner than we would like.

No.
Go big now.

They didn’t trim the cap to do a slow rebuild.. gotta max out next 2 seasons.

They can and will spend big. And there will be some attractive targets.

Did you say you wanted trade down value? :sunglasses:

Followed the PFF ranking to draft position in the last two drafts and after the predictable top 20-22 picks it was a tossup for the most part.

I'm sorry but if we get some CB's this draft there are more than a few with great ball skills and aren't midgets down into the projected 3-4 round. If we been running with our current starting CB's it is hard to get worse.

Mid Round CB's:
Josh Newton TCU
DJ James Auburn
Khyree jackson Oregon
Krhis Abrams-Draine Mizzou
Kamal Hadden Tenn.
Cam Hart Notre Dame

S's:
Javon Bullard Georgia
Tykee Smith Georgia
Jaden Hicks WSU
Jaylin Simpson Auburn

DB is one of the few positions I covet size (QB), being turned and put into awkward positions a lot you that extra inch or two helps out.

They're a SIGNIFICANT difference in player rankings from the PFN draft simulator to what I'm seeing in a few reputable mock drafts and player rankings.
Hopefully they start moving players up and down the board as we get more evaluations.

BTW, my draft there was fire...

How do you feel about Kamari Lassiter (Georgia) CB, 6-0, 180?
That’s a good size for today’s CBs. Good player from a good program.

Haven't looked much into him outside the basics TBH, his metrics and scouting report goes pretty hopeful especially as a zone defender.

The reason being is I expect him going the top 2 rounds (personally I feel we don't go CB in first 2 rounds unless someone falls to us that shouldn't)

Corbin,
Why don't you think the Rams will go CB early in the draft?
I'm not satisfied with what we have now and don't think we would want to overpay for one in FA.
What your line of thought on this?

I like hearing different perspectives on the build.. Love the Wiggins pick.
Why Sweat? Bobby Brown has grown into his role and you have him one more year.. and those guys are going two downs, at most.
I really like the Ainias Smith possibilities. Rams could use a real returner and a guy who can do damage with the ball in his hands. I like Tutu.. but he's not that elusive, for all his speed.

I wasn't the one asked, but Bobby Brown has 1 more year on his contract. Could be why? I like Sweat a lot.

I get that.. that's why I'd be looking for a Brown-type value to develop. 4th-5th round.. not second.

Really like him as a prospect and he was among the BPA at that point in that mock.

AD isn’t going to be here forever, while BB III only has a year left on his deal, too.
Sure.
I guess I’d just be looking at other body types in Dline at that point. I want another guy who can disrupt passing game.
