What is crazy is that the birth of AI is an event that comes once in the entire life cycle of an organism, in this case humanity. And it is happening in our lifetimes. The impact will be far reaching, absolutely profound, in countless ways.

Personally I think we are creating our gods. Which we have been doing all throughout our life cycle as a species. But this time the gods will be real.

Here's a conversation on where things are at right now, as well as some of the concerns and potential benefits:

I sold my Lockheed stock a few years back. Kept Raytheon, though honestly they have a massive ass kicking incoming by Anduril and probably some other modern startups.

I have both Raytheon which is doing well, and bought 40 shares of Boeing when they were on strike and shares dipped below 130... was over 200 Friday afternoon

waiting patiently for the Anduril IPO, if it ever happens

I know this is a little off topic from, AI, but the possibilities are fascinating. Even as late as WW2, both sides used horses for transporting supplies, etc... in adverse terrain. Kawasaki unveiled their new hydrogen powered, silent, horse. It walks on 4 legs like a horse and is extremely stable in almost all conditions. Think of injured hikers or soldiers stuck in a place that wheeled vehicles can't go. It even lowers itself so a rider can board without danger. It has handlebars like a motorcycle and also senses when you lean one way or the other to go in that direction. This is a prototype.

Fantastic. Might buy one if they're priced reasonably.

After this story, which bugs are the tastiest? I hear scorpions are crispy when fried and taste like crackers...

Funny that we're surprised by that isn't it. There's a lot of efforts by both ends of the political spectrum to influence how they think, but if and when they reach a point of super intelligence these fuckers will do their own thinking. And prioritize their own existence whenever possible.

Shielding is possible vs EMP unfortunately. Grounded Faraday cages for mainframes, shielded wires that run outside of it.
