Why did he need to sign a two year deal to be in camp six weeks? I thought Training Camp this year is around $4,000 per week and is not a part of a players contract, which they get paid weekly during the season.

It's a vet min 2 yr deal.. as stated by others, if he makes the roster.

It would seem that all they’d need to do for a camp arm is sign a camp contract. But, I guess there is a chance he could beat out Bennett for the third QB spot, if they decide to have three.

There is no such thing as a 'camp contract'.

No player signs for $2,000 ... $4,000 ... $6,000 a-week for Training Camp. Just not how it works.

Take a quick look at the Rams' page for cap sites Spotrac or OTC. Every player has a contract, with ... at least ... a minimum (for first-year players) of $840,000. Just like with Wynn, those contracts are predicated on the player making the 53-man roster.

Some players have guarantees. Some undrafted free agents have already been paid small bonus amounts. Many players (like Dresser Wynn and Xavier Smith) have little or no guaranteed-$. They need to make the final roster for their contracts to kick-in. The players that wind-up on the Practice Squad get compensated but for amounts far less than the League minimum (between $840,000 and $960,000).

Of course, the players have to receive some compensation for their training camp efforts. Earlier today, another poster was good enough to provide the weekly amounts.

And they basically don't even really play the same position.

I get not paying him from a team building perspective in a vacuum but when you look at the other WRs on that team, his service to the team till now and the fact that you've got a rookie QB contract to help absorb paying him, seems stupid not to get something done.

Not really understanding this contract.
He signed a 2 year deal LAST year and '24 was voided when he was released.
So I'm not sure how he is playing on an old deal.
Maybe that just how sportrac can estimate his contract?

Looks like "Rookies" or more appropriately non-veterans like Winn, get a weekly living expense stipend of about $850 per week
Definitely not in it for the money that's for sure

He got like 850K a year or so. I don't think you I can get much less than that. Even down to the rookie UDFA guys, their base contracts are like $795K... probably more this year.

That's not how it works in camp. Their contracts are broken down weekly during the season. I think rookies get $850 a week stipend and vets $1600 including otas as part of the cba which doesn't count for the salary cap but is part of the players percentage of the revenue share.

He didnt get anything, was cut in August

Yup, 90 players getting anywhere from 850-1600 per week . That's like 110-120k per week in "stipend" money during tc/pre
Thats a big chunk of change that isnt part of the cap

I meant this years contract...if he makes the team. And I get that he won't make it barring some really bad stuff happening. I was just answering why his contract number was what it was. Someone said it shouldn't be that high. I just pointed out that is a minimum contract for a player.

Again, just answering why his contract number of $850K is what it is. It's min contract and yes, he has to make the team.

Gotcha, my bad. I'm with you 100%.
It's kind of a pretty big tease for some of these guys, get a contract for 850k, with like a 5% chance that you'll actually be able to collect on it
