I just don't see us using high draft capital on a LB. Doesn't seem like this FO's MO
That’s fine but the Rams have been wrong on this front for three years now. If they want to get crushed by the Eagles run game again that’s their prerogative but we absolutely need someone in the middle next to Speights. Almost all the top teams have very good LBs now.

Yeah I love the idea of addressing it round 3. But this is Shula's first big draft now that he's settled in as the DC and he's not one of these guys who sources from the DB rooms. So it is possible he values the ILBs more than we have in the past.

Also I am tired of watching the Shitters find ILBs round 3 range. Would be nice to see the Rams do that and this draft has some good options.
Yeah I think about Demetrius Knight and Carson Sweschinger in particular. They are two of the manh second to fourth round ILBs I'm intrigued by. This is a pretty decent class on paper.

I suspect you are right, that the Rams are hot after a stud MLB / ILB, judging from the Poona FA pickup. They want to be much stouter in the middle, or else no ones gonna stop the ol' tush push.
And that's taking nothing from Speights, that guy... we are sooo lucky to have him. But paired up with a side-to-side MLB who can cover would be terrific.

Nick Martin's my dude with this class. Gives me London Fletcher flashbacks with that condensed size and mobility. But yeah there's quite a few I'd be happy with. Seems like an underrated group to my eye at least.

Not sure I follow, I think the reasoning for Poona is that it allows them to continue with their strategy to go cheap at ILB and that Poona will make it easier to get by with substandard LBs.

Not that I agree with that strategy.

I haven't even heard that name. Speaks to the depth. I'm check him out

Does anyone know how much input co-ordinators and coaches actually have on which prospects get drafted?

Or is it just guesswork?
No, but I recall when the Rams were looking at Olineman years ago they’d send their Oline coach to their pro days. So, their opinion likely carries some weight.

If Jihaad is there at 26... we need to take him. If we don't take him at #26, there are a couple of guys you could draft in the 3rd who could start right away for us like Stussman or Dumas-johnson...

We have some solid options for the draft at ILB
Do we really want to go after a dude with the name Jihaad?

Ya, you may be right lol. Let's all rally around Troy Reeder & play great football!!
Lots of ILB options later in the draft this year. But, man it'd be great to get a stud ILB...
maybe they get that freak S kid at #26? Emamaundorio or something? he could be a terrific Star.

I believe the coordinators for most teams typically take the scouts reports and stack the draft board for that position with their final input before it's fed into the big board.

Absolutely. ... and I'd give him the Dot as a rookie.

(FYI the actual definition of the word doesn't have a negative connotation at all.
    • Literal Meaning:
"Jihad" literally means "striving" or "exerting oneself" in Arabic. "
