McVay is mostly full of shite at the podium. Dude talked up Tavon like they were moving a future HoF at his presser when they traded him.

That said I wasn't sure either way with many of the defenders. Defense had some close calls and projections I think.

Then you draft a guy very similar to Tavon and don't use him either. I still maintain it was a panic draft pick because the guy they were targeting was drafted right before the pick and didn't expect anyone to grab him with out a better plan in waiting. Waste of a pick tbh.


The one I had zero doubts about on defense was Speights, but I'm curious asf if we have another LB make this team which will be a relief if we cut Reeder or Rozeboom.

Yes, you have to read between the lines of McVay's speech he sounds like a trained professional politician there is hidden truth between the bullshit,

Reeder is a head scratcher but has now made the team under successive special teams and defensive coordinators

Does he qualify merely by virtue of U.K. birth, or has he played long enough in the U.S. to not qualify?

He’s certainly Practice Squad eligible but is he eligible for the 17th / international player designation?

Yeah no doubt. I get his value by the way, in that he stays healthy and has always been a teams contributor. But it's hard to imagine that Speights hasn't climbed that chart. And I think Speights is behind Jones.

So idk. Also I never bother to read the team depth chart. Gotta wait and see who is subbed where and for what but it's hard to imagine that Speights doesn't find his way onto the field for us this season.

Again, looking with Wikipedia, but I think he hasn't played enough in the United States to qualify (played at Missouri State and participated in Missouri's Pro Day, where he absolutely dominated)?

Again, not certain, but the International page on Wikipedia says it's Olajiga who we've gotten. Ultimately, though, I'm honestly not sure.

Yep, I believe I saw 4pm est tomorrow.
On a side note, I get why they made the change but I do prefer when they had the preliminary cut down (to 80 I think?) so some guys would still have a chance to latch on elsewhere
