We rounded out last week's pro day travels with a stop in Lexington, Kentucky to see Will Levis in person. He's built like a linebacker and watching him throw the ball in person is something to behold -- you can actually hear the passes whistle -- but questions remain about his ability to layer the ball to all three levels, and some inconsistencies when he rolls to his left. There's talk that he could slip on draft day and depending on how long he lasts, maybe a team like the Rams would make a move to get him. Because if anyone can get the most out of Levis' ability, it's Sean McVay. (In this mock trade, the Rams get pick No. 18 and the Lions get picks 36, 77, and a 2024 2nd-rounder.)

I can’t see it happening either. In the draft simulator he’s always gone by pick 15.

I just have a bad feeling someone like Tank Dell is our first pick...Snead and McVay can't help themselves...

He's an interesting QB. I think he needs bench time and dev and maybe you get something good down the road. Which the Rams could do as Stafford is our starter. So they're one of the best teams for him to land with but he's gonna go too early I think.

Teams are desperate for QBs. I think all of them will go a little earlier than usual this year and if you take Hooker in round 1 instead of early round 2 you get him for an extra year. That extra year of team control, if you hit on the pick, is significant.

Rams get 30 pre-draft facility visits from prospects. They've brought in 17 so far. No Offensive Linemen interestingly. 6 on the Defensive Line, I'm including edge. 5 Receivers. 2 QB's. 1 K. 3 DB's.
So D line, Receiver, Defensive Back, Quarterback, and Kicker. Seems to be the focus.

I'm no gypsy so I don't read tea leaves. But I do my best with my expresso grounds. They outlined an interesting possibility.

gameday reserves: OT Jackson, OG/C Shelton OG Toner

That would be for this year. Next year Shelton takes over at C with Jackson taking over for Havenstein. The Rams already know what they have in Jackson and Shelton, i.e. starting players. If Havenstein struggles again as he did against the Raiders, they can sub Jackson and Rob becomes a backup for the rest of the season. If Allen goes down again, they sub Shelton and he becomes the starter going forward. Toner becomes backup OG/C. Brewer becomes the backup OG with Nsekhe as backup OT in those scenarios.

Next year they draft a new crop of backups, that is why I don't see them drafting for OL starters this year.

The FO seems set on riding Stafford until he can't play anymore. In that case, they need a Purdy type backup at QB2 which IMO they draft in the 5th round. The wildcard IMO is how far a targeted QB drops, such as Tanner McKee. If he's there at 36 they would be hard pressed not to take him. A year or two behind Stafford and the Rams could have their next franchise QB. McKee is the kind of QB that could drop into the second round. What IMO will drop him is the NFLs love affair with mobile QBs. McKee is a throwback type, tall with a good arm, and not mobile, i.e. a Stafford and Philip Rivers style QB.

Barring a QB2 I see them going edge, CB and LB (coverage ILB) in this draft with their first 3 picks. Their kickers and a RB in the 5th. In the 6th and 7th round will be their LS but other than that I see depth and STs players. IMO what they do with their first 6 picks makes or breaks this draft and will set the tone for the season.

As long as Stafford and Kupp are healthy the Rams offense has it's core. How the defense is played is IMO more important than the scheme. Morris absolutely must abandon his soft zone. If Pleasant can institute a more aggressive style by the DBs that would make all the difference in the world.

Jackson should be starting somewhere, and Jourdan Rodrigue seems certain that Allen will be a post June 1 cut.

Shelton was signed. So it’s likely he is at Center unless one is drafted and a fast learner.

Yeah, where is this from?!? Seems to be taking a life of it's own!

Seems like they'd be doing him pretty dirty to get him to take a pay cut then cut him. What am I missing?

Yeah he is. The reason the Rams like small school guys is because they work harder and they can get them in the mid to late rounds. Doesn't mean they are less talented. Like Nick Scott who although he came from Pitt, was a late round guy. He came in and worked his butt off and IMO is going to be a very good FS.

Hoecht is another guy who went the self-promotion route. Michael Hoecht has been a favorite of mine since he was a rookie. Hoecht put together his own promotional video he sent to all the NFL teams and Eric Henderson got a copy and studied him. That's why he's a Ram. I saw that video as one of my friends had a copy that I watched with him over a couple of beers. Here's a SI article on Hoecht.

Scott was a special teams guy BONES wanted. So did Evero.He played RB at Penn St.

Copeland & Williams came up with Hoecht. He use to stay after with a couple of the young O’Lineman working together. He also made a name for himself.

It was your favorite coach who saw his talent & says that Game saving tackle in the Superbowl was one of the main reasons he is lining up OLB. He is to small INSIDE(DT).

Yeah, that isn't like them. They seem to take pride in being upfront with their players, trading them where they want to go. Having said that, restructure or not, I could see a trade but to whom?

Scott went to Penn State. He was a runningback but once Barkley got there he took a crash course in playing safety. He’s a very good athlete, so he fit Snead’s M.O.
