Because Blanton's not good. He's been a PS player until injuries and Hopkins slow progress forced him in to action.
The WFT saw it, and cut bait before his salary guaranteed

Worse case is if Blanton sits on the market for awhile, we have an option to pivot to him if we have unforseen injuries at that position and need someone in a pinch.
