It could mean they will push for Linsley since he’s basically playing in the same offense in GB. It could also mean they’d go after one of the Niners free agent Centers
No doubt. But after that presser I feel like the Rams are going to be disciplined like usual with the FA options. They're going to focus on guys who were cut to not affect the comp formula.

Now maybe Center is a great enough need to trump that. And God knows we'll still get comp picks even if we sign Linsley since we have a ton of guys leaving. So idk. On one hand nothing would surprise me. But on the other hand there's so many different ways they could try to solve this thing that there's just no telling.

If I had to guess I'd say I expect them to get a bargain center added in FA to hold down the position, like say Garland. He's been a good depth option for SF. Then draft a center and when he's ready there you go.

The Rams have a pretty shitty recent history for picking mid to later round draftees as centers, think Barrett Jones, Demetrius Rhaney, & Brian Allen. Now we are supposedly on a deep play-off run and only just looking for a guy "to hold down the position", ... damn I hope we can do better than that. jmo.

You're right. And I'm hoping for Linsley but the Rams have taught me not to get my hopes up with the OL.

But that means that Goff is still on the books? Arent the 2 basically a wash?
I thought they keep $10 mill aside for rookie contracts
No. Goff has $22M of dead money post trade, plus Stafford's $20M base. That is what we are projecting. As of now, we only are on the books for Goff's $33M cap hit. So abt $9-10M diff.

Thus we take approx $10M of an cap hit post March 17th when they are both on the books. Now its just Goff

If they could swing it, big if, wouldn’t you say Linsley is worth a late third?

He's a free agent, not someone being traded for ...

I know that. If they sign a top free agent they likely cancel out a comp pick from someone they lose. So it’s the equivalent of using a 2022 third round comp pick get him.

Or to say it another way. They’d have to sacrifice a third round comp pick to get him.

Either way it’s a way to put a value on what it would cost them. And we are talking about just a comp pick which is nearly like an early fourth.

I’d say it would be worth the sacrifice for a guy of his skill level.

OK, I got ya now. And agree, in this instance with all the high grade free agents we are likely losing in Floyd, JJ, Hill, Fox and Everett, a good chance we still hit on a couple #3's and #4's. While the returns are good, when we are so lacking in other resources, sometimes ya just gotta pull the trigger though.

Yeah, we surely cant argue the value of a 3rd rounder the way they so easily trade away 1st rounders....

Nick Martin possibly? He was cut this past week. A better pass protector than run blocker. Just not sure if he can anchor against a Bull rush.

Looks like the Rams did trim 10 mil off of the Cap according to this

I think all this is, everyone has already added the salary ramifications after the trade becomes official. But as of now officially the Rams are only 23 million over the cap.

They will try to draft his replacement. Belichick would rather tank a season than to overpay for a player. Plus he and Cam compliment each other well with their game day attire.

It seems to signal a plan to draft a QB.

Or, does Cam strike anyone as good with competition with another Vet? Not me.
