This is a really nice deal for the Panthers.

Henderson was the 9th overall pick just last season.

Carolina adds him for an average TE and an exchange of picks (probable late #3 for a probable early #5) that effectively represents a drop of about forty spots in the Draft.

I am not impressed by a new coach / decision-maker (Urban Meyer here) who quickly moves-on from talent just because he did not bring-in that player.

Agreed. Meyer coming in and not making any difference, and possibly making things worse, was predictable.

Can CJ Henderson possibly be so bad that he’s only worth Ram Beater Dan Arnold and moving up 40 spots in the next draft?

Gordon will play long enough to earn his first check so he has cash to by more drugs. Then he will get high high high! And fail another drug test.

How? They don’t test for THC anymore and even if he popped with it, there are no fines or penalties now.

I was following it because the THC tests were stupid to me and I wanted to follow that story which included Josh Gordon.

He got popped for pot and alcohol. We know this because it was said, I don't remember by whom.

And once on the "War on Drugs" list, everything became a pop.

If Josh Gordon never plays another down, it's not really a thing for me. I just hoped and am glad that THC is allowed which makes for a safer sport.

I posted this in the MNF thread... thought I would add it here. You know Snead & McVay will go get any position they feel can put them over the top in a season where they know they have the team.

If the Eagles are 1-5 or something like that at the trade deadline, I would inquire about Fletcher Cox.

Restructure a deal or two to make it happen, would only be for a little over half his salary but with him & Donald, they would make it impossible for opposing offenses to control the line of scrimmage.
***********************
Update: his base salary is only 1M this yr and next yr it's also 1M with a 1M roster bonus. They did restructure him with a large bonus so they take a big cap hit. So would make him more expensive from a trade value perspective.
***********************
Right now Cox is probably playing too many snaps without enough help. In a rotational role & with renewed excitement, he would be a monster.

Maybe a 3rd and a back up DB gets it done to unload his contract (they desperately need a safety). Then maybe you flip him during the offseason or give him a new more affordable deal.

They would be stupid to get rid of him. What would be their motivation to trade him.

Yeah, they restructured him so they would take a big cap hit. So it would be a no go.

My thinking is it would get them a pick and saves their long-term cap because they are not going anywhere anytime soon. They are heading into a complete rebuild and he will be shot by the time they challenge seriously for a title.

Wouldn’t they need a Dlinemen in return to fill his spot? A pick won’t get it done. Could they possibly trade a pick and Gaines or Ashawn?

Cox is still a premiere pass rushing interior lineman. Can a team without a first round pick land him? Or would a team with a late first or mid second rounder step ahead, like the Seahawks?
They would be stupid to get rid of him. What would be their motivation to trade him.
if they start a rebuild, but they’d likely want a higher pick than the Rams could provide

His salary in 2022 is 16 mill + 3 mill in roster bonuses & Philly would take a 25 mill dead cap hit

As the season goes… we will need to add someone. That’s usually the way it goes.

It’s weird to think there are 1-2 players out there who are going to join the Rams and help us win the Superbowl.

#1 That guy doesn’t know he’s going to be a Ram

#2 That guy will be Superbowl champ in 5 months, he doesn’t know that yet either.

Weird, eh?
