Wait the Rams get ...... 2 3rd round compensatory picks because the Lions hired our guy?

Yes. Teams that developed people of color who are hired for HC and GM roles get comp picks. It's a way to incentivize teams to take chances on developing coaches and executives of color. I hate to lose anybody who was involved in the great drafting we did, but I wish Brad the best of luck in Detroit! Would love to see him turn around the Lions!

Considering they have their #1 next yr, and very likely 4 comp picks for losing players, they will have firepower to move up for an impact player in 22' with this 5th comp pick (3rd rounder).

Hopefully they font cap comp picks of all types at 4. Then they lose one they would have gotten for a player.

In 22' i am thinking comp picks will be... (Expecting they figure out how to sign Floyd)

3rd - J.Johnson
4th - Troy Hill
5th - Gerald Everett
6th - Josh Reynolds or Blythe or Brown
Add in another 3rd for Holmes now.

Either way they will likely have...

1
2
3
3 comp
3 comp
4
4 comp
5
5 comp
6
6 comp
7
7 Talib trade

13 picks... They won't keep all of those. Maybe they trade a 22' pick for a 21' pick this yr?

Now keep in mind Ray Farmer is a GM candidate as well who would net picks as well, or he could replace Holmes and get us those picks in a year or two.

edit out the coordinator part it didn’t make the final cut.

You could see a trade up this year or next. A second or conditional third this year to trade up or use them next year to trade up.

Wonder if it is naive to think his relationship w Snead might mean we can deal more easily w the Lions when a deal makes sense?

Wishful thinking?

Relationships are always a good thing when it comes to business and trades imo. Snead has used those a lot over the years.
