If we trade him before March 20th the new team has to pay Gurley (I'm assuming you're asking about him) his guaranteed roster bonus which drives the return we could get for him down. On the other hand if we pay it the team trading for him would have to offer more to compensate for not having to pay him as much. At least that's what I see looking at the info.

Thanks, OS. So my follow-up question would pertain to the cap. Is there a means by which we pay for it, but it doesn't affect our cap? It's not my money, but if we could pay for it and increase the value in any trade while saving cap, count me in!

Or is it a situation where we are on the hook for the cap either way?

A little pessimistic. They have good DBs. Let's see what they come up with for pass rushers.
I just meant that big linebackers are usually coverage liabilities. There's why smaller linebackers like roquan Smith are becoming a staple to defenses.

We could restructure it change it to a signing bonus which spreads it out for the remaining years of the deal but that doesn't save the whole thing and adds guaranteed money the last couple years of the deal. It's possible but not really a good thing to do too often.

Any interest in Kennard from the Lions?

If that rumored trade happens I will fucking party like a frat boy. Minus the keg stands.

If that rumored trade happens, I'll be calling Bill O'Brien and thanking him for showing Tampa Bay the way.

If that trade happens, I will probably party like an inebriated sorority girl while calling Bill O'Brien in a drunken stupor.

Never in a million years are the Rams getting Godwin or a 1st, let alone both, for Gurley and Cooks. Rams probably have to eat money and give up a higher pick then what they will get in return.

Nah. Dumping those two doesn't save us enough money to pay another team to take them. Cooks was worth a first round pick a year ago. We're not going to give him away.

Interesting.... Throwing in Cooks as part of a Gurley trade package sweetens a deal for us to get something in return....
I'm still processing this though. Gurley is one of my fav's on this team. His GA & RAM highlights, man... he truly is a special player, but his contract is an albatross, and I still think he can't cut, is why he runs wide sweeps & runs out of bounds instead of cutting back in & trucking guys. An RB, it's not like he's afraid of contact (c.f. Tavon aka mr. sideline), I just think he can't cut. He'll bulldoze straight ahead, & cut here & there but I suspect that when he cuts he pays for it in the tub.
I still remember his agent telling him in that TMZ vid, "when you get to my place just go straight to the couch". There's things that both he, his team & his agent aren't being forthright about.

I'm not saying that trade would happen because that's a win for us but I also don't think it's a fleece job. Gurley I believe if his physical went well would prove he was fine and he would have an even bigger chip showing he wasn't used properly and had issues with Mcvey. Cooks and Brady have a friendship and history and are friends with unfinished business.
Now Godwin yes a very good reciever no doubt but I believe he is in last year of rookie deal and will want to get paid in 2021. Also for the bucs cooks fits more with Arians that being said it's almost addition by subtraction rt? Enter Brady again and what if he can bring his other buddy too in AB once cleared that's a crazy wideout core who will remain intact through Brady's contract probably. Throw in there tight ends and Gurley with something to prove a guy you underutilized for whatever reason who still almost had 1000 yrds and 14 tds.

Where the trade becomes almost to good to be true is that 1st round pick but one could argue money or no money I'm giving u controlled players and Gurley can be cut by new team with not a cent owned by the acquiring team I believe. Lastly with teams not having ota and meetings in person for god knows how long how nice would it be to have two wideouts you have a relationship with. Look how import Kupp is to goff. Also I believe one of the few people who was very caring and sensitive to what AB was going through was cooks which AB seemed to appreciate.

Gurley thing breaks my heart but if indeed it was more about his attitude and sulking he then cost this franchise a lot more than money and actually set us back in a number of ways. Jury will be out for sure.

And your reply is a bit over simplified. The DB's can't cover TE's inline or RB's out of backfield all of the time. If you have a LB on the field that runs a 40 slower than 4.65 and/or doesn't change direction well, the opposing O/C will scheme to expose that player in coverage. Which means your D/C will be forced to play more Zone coverage. And, that limits the D/C's coverage and/or plan for certain opponents.

Still dont understand the narrative from nearly everyone on the board that Gurley was underused last year and he can be special again with more touches. The guy is CLEARLY not the same. CLEARLY. Use your eyes.
