Not sure if this was brought up but next year with the subtractions of watkins, and tru our draft should look something like this correct

1st
3rd (our own
3rd(comp for tru)
3rd(comp for watkins
4th
5th
6th
6th(comp for cody davis?)
7th

hoping one of these years we can get our 2nd round pick back but hey if were winning it doesn't matter to me

Our 7th is up in the air on some conditions I believe.

I’d read possibly a 7th comp not a 6th but that’s to be determined.

The catch is though, if we sign a player from another team for significant dollars we lose those comp picks. So if we sign X player for 3 or 4 years at 15M for example you lose the comp pick for say Tru or Watkins

That would only be for free agents we signed this offseason to counter Tru and Watkins. Which was virtually no one since trades don't count and signing someone's cuts doesnt either. We should be gtg.

We did sign Ramik Wilson from the Chiefs right?

ill take drafting 32nd every year :)
Can you just picture it! We Win the SB, Draft 32nd in the 2019 Draft, and move into the New Digs in 2020, after Back-to-Back SB Wins! WOW!
" How sweet it is!!!"

3 3rd's? Snead is on his way to amassing 6 3's next year! Watch out!

I still dont get that. Suh is technically a FA. Is this only valid if they were released?

Hard telling, cause the NFL likes its rules. My guess would be just cause there are so many cuts every year that it'd be a nightmare trying to keep track of them and their subsequent contracts? Idk.

This is like a three parter, so best with me.

If a contract expires the team could get compensation because it's possible, though not always true, that they had no chance to sign that person. The player could just want to leave, or wouldn't accept the money available. Kind of the team's fault, but possibly not. The contract ended, they need to replace that person, therefore they get compensated a year later... Possibly.

If a team cuts someone, they chose to move on. They could have done had that player, but intentionally decided not to. Therefore the hole they created is their fault for sure. They get me compensation for self inflicted wounds.

When a team signs someone, they only invite a penalty to their own compensation if another team could get compensated for it. One team gets dinged in the formula only if another team gets a benefit from it. Tit for tat.

That's all just my opinion and a guess, but it makes perfect sense to me. They choose to release a guy, they get no compensation for losing him. If they get no compensation for losing him, you don't get penalized for signing him.

if we continue to draft well and build these players up.....bring on these 3rd rounders.....some can come in and compete for a starting spot...or sit for a year or 2 and when we either can't sign a player or they are ready to retire...let the draft pick slide right in....sounds good to me

If a player is released or traded, they get squat in compensation for that player. If he is a UFA, the team gets compensation based on some funky formula. I’m not sure about RFAs the team decides not to offer a contract to.

I think the RFA’s get tendered with a round grade and if a teams decides they want them they have to give that previous team that pick. I don’t ever remember this happening before.
