I figure I won the ROD draft last year :snicker: for the hated Pat's partially based on trading Garopolo to the Rams, as N.E. also had no first round pick until that deal went down. And to prove it, I went on to win the Super Bowl.
Dave, you've got Bradford and Bridgewater, you might offer one of them or put together a package of players to enhance any number of proposals. jmo.

It is confusing. That last part especially. You can make a pick before Saturday if Ramrocket gets it going, as can any GM, as long as it's Saturday. Lol but I don't really see the harm in starting. If we get stuck at a specific team, we wait. No big deal in my opinion.

I'm not @Alan, but I don't see the harm in starting now, provided everybody knows that the clock doesn't officially start until Saturday and the person on the clock doesn't have to make a pick until the day comes AND their time is up.

So I have been analyzing the whiners needs and come up with DEs, CBs, LBs, WR & QB.
Their Defense particularly against the run in 2016 was woeful.
Talk has been around QB Trubisky at pick 2 but I don't rate him as highly as some and feel the whiners may be better served picking up a defensive talent.
That's why I , "John-TK42-RAM-Lynch" get paid the big bucks. So..

Since the Bears signed Glennon no need for a QB so early.
With the 3rd pick, the Chicago Bears select Marshon Lattimore, CB Ohio State. Definitely a good start to rebuilding that weak secondary.

Let me preface my response by making it clear that comments/suggestions like this are essential to making this process better in the future and anyone with ideas they'd like to share for discussion should do so. So thanks!
Lots of ands and ifs there. More importantly, from my perspective, the logistics of doing that are daunting. It's not as easy as you'd think to send PMs to 32 people and try and talk them into starting early. Can't do that in public because if they don't want to start early that shouldn't be made public for obvious reasons. Nobody wants to get ragged on for slowing things down no matter how good-natured it is because in the end, everyone knows there's a kernel of truth in the ragging.
This also assumes I can even get responses from all 32 GMs before Saturday and I won't change the rules in mid stream without unanimous consent. I haven't even received acknowledgments from all the GMs concerning the reminder of the Saturday start. Then I'd have to monitor this site/thread all day for an extra three days for very little gain (this is where the resemblance to my wife, who's never satisfied with how much work I do around the house
, comes in). Things often look much better on paper than in reality.Let's talk about the mock a little more for those that are thinking about doing this every year. Here's a few things that are continually being forgotten/ignored:
We don't have 32 RODites who want to participate in this mock with the level of commitment that some of you have. We barely got 32 people and a backup as it is. This happens every year. Of those 32 who agreed to play, many of them have making their picks in a timely manner far down on their list of important things to do in their lives. Many just want to be involved in a, hopefully, fun endeavor that will help to while away the down time before the real stuff starts in the actual draft, OTAs and TC. For many of them the only stress they want to deal with is that which they have in real life. Some participants complain that 12 hour windows between picks is excessive. For many of you it is but for many others, and it only takes a few, it's just right because the vast majority of the time the picks are made much sooner than that. Even then, every year we experience long delays between picks because some of our participants are dealing with issues that have a much higher priority than this mock. I've tried to design this mock so that those that want to participate, at whatever level, can do so in a fun environment. IMO, there isn't another way of doing this that can accomplish that to everyone's satisfaction (though many won't be 100% satisfied). This would include any ideas of requiring participants to go to multiple threads to get the info they need. The simpler the process is the larger the participation level.
All of this can be changed in the future but it would require one critical change: GREATER PARTICIPATION. With a much larger pool of willing participants, say 40 to 45, more stringent rules could be put in place and the mock could be finished in days instead of weeks. I've yet to see that level of interest. I do think that putting this thread in a different forum plays a significant part in that. Were it located in the regular forum many who are daunted by their ideas of what it would entail for them to participate and how much fun (and ridicule) they'd gain would be altered if they saw the mock in action on a routine basis. C'est la vie.
