Man, what a draft, and we had two picks in the Top 13. I believe we all can say that Aaron Donald is STILL the pick for us at #13 and should have been #1 overall pick in 2014 with the benefit of hindsight. Looking at the #2 pick which Fisher/Snead wiffed, but what if they had picked one of the othe studs in 2014? Which, if any, would have saved Fisher from a firing, if any? Forget about Sean McVay's effect on the team now because this is a sadistic twist where Fisher survives and we most likely don't have Jared Goff.

Since we were desperate at the time for a starting LT, I imagine with hindsight that we pick either Jake Matthews or Taylor Lewan. Some, like Jake Ellenbogan, are hot for Odell Beckham because of the recieving talent he has. Others might say if we had drafted into a strength by selecting Khalil Mack along with Aaron Donald, coupled with Robert Quinn....No offensive line could have stood against our defense. If we drafted a premier LT, would Case Keenum or Nick Foles been good enough to save Jeff's job? Fisher was fired several games into 2016, so which pick would have saved Fisher's job and kept us in the pit of misery? lol

Give reasoning for your pick!

I'll start it. I picked Taylor Lewan. Some don't like his fiesty, Ritchie Incognito-like personality, but I think Fisher might in 2014. I think Nick Foles, Super Bowl MVP, might have done much better if he didn't have to worry about his blind side with Greg Robinson.

9-7 was a dream back then, as hard as it is for us to think of now as success. 9-7 might have given Fisher a few more points and a few more wins. Thank God this did not happen.

Bump!

Obviously Mack would've been the best pick, any offensive players would've been wasted. However Fisher would've been gone regardless imo.

The only thing that could've saved him was the thing he refused to do. Hire a competent offensive coordinator and give him full control of the offense.

What doomed that season was Fisher and Snead putting all their eggs in the Bradford basket. Doesn't have to be at no 2 overall, but take a QB. Bridgewater, Bortles, Carr, Garoppolo, any one of those over Austin Davis and Shaun Hill.

Fisher has proven that he could build a team (minus receivers), but not make it a finished product. No amount of draft picks would have saved him. He also proved that with the Redskins trade.

Fisher was toast no matter what, but Greg Robinson has rebounded nicely as a starting LT in the league. Currently a good LT for the Browns.

This would be irrelevant because I’d be a raging alcoholic spending my days with rage posts at turfshowtimes.com.

I've fought the urge so far to make an account there. I know one of these nights you'll see a new user account made in a blaze of drunken genius :D

When the offense is as predictable as the Rams were under Fisher it's tough.

He wanted his teams to be able to "out athlete" opponents.......and his defenses usually did enough to win.

It wasn't the drafts that ruined his tenure.

He need to hire a Coryell or Martz as OC

The scenario in which Fisher is still head coach:

Horrible offenses got Fidher fired.

But wow. Mack and Donald in the same draft would have been deadly

At the time I couldn't believe he passed on Matthews, the son of the HoF player that played for his Oilers/Titans. I suspect it's one of his greatest regrets, along with Tavon. Plus Matthews going at 2 probably wouldn't have changed Donald being there for us with our other first round pick.

Not that Matthews was great initially or anything but he would have settled down our OL a bit as opposed to focusing on rap lyrics during OL meetings. And he developed quite well down the road.

But I don't think any picks that year would have saved Fisher. And had he taken Mack would Donald be there later?

Maybe not, but just as far as the question goes, if we acqured both Mack and Donald and having Robert Quinn...Even with a primary school offense, wouldn't we winning more low scoring games in Fisher world?

*johnny hekker wins!
