A loss I realize that, but look at those golden clad uniforms. Still was the best uniform Rams ever had with maybe adding the blue facemask later. Anyways this was a tough loss and I believe made Knox more conservative in future playoffs.

IMO, that loss made Knox more conservative come postseason. Rams in Knox's first year did pass quite a bit, when the opportunity was there, in fact, in the first game that season against Dallas, Knox felt they had to pass to win.

The fact on the first play of the game, the Rams passed and it was an interception, plus the McCutcheon fumble on the Rams second play from scrimmage, which provided Dallas a 14-0 cushion I just felt Knox felt in post season, you were better playing things close to the vest (which it the right quote, not best).

In fact, Fred Dryer had said in an interview, that Knox would never deviate from what the Rams did during the regular season when they entered post season. They ran the same plays and Dryer felt that hurt the Rams plus Knox never allowed his QB's to audible either and Harris & Jaworski talked about that too. They could see the play would not work and they could not change it.

Actually it wasn't a phantom call on Mack, TE Pat Curran did jump as Enberg eludes to it and the 74 highlights, but in 1976 at Minnesota, Ron Jessie scored and that damn octogenarian official called him out at the one foot line.

were a distant second.
San Fran was a afterthought and seasonal basement dwellers.
