The new reality of the NFL and their extended seasons is going to include additional injuries and because of that reality rosters need to be expanded and thought given to how teams manage that roster through the season.

Do we see second level players in September getting a look to find the depth needed for the long run?

First teamers not playing until late October or November with the idea of ramping up for the second half and playoffs?

The season with playoffs was already pushing the limits. No practices in pads, no hitting in preseason, shitty tackling all year, hamstring injuries sidelining players for months.

Where does this end up??

In the end I think roster sizes go up. It means the salary cap pie is spread thinner so the top end might not like it for for player health and health of the game it seems necessary to me.

Throw COVID in the mix and you've got a real cluster F'up

The schedule increasing by an additional 10% seems logical for other parts of the game to get corresponding increases.

Roster size and salary cap to cover the additional numbers should be a no brainer.

Salary cap will require owners to take a lower percentage of revenue which will require concessions from the union. Roster size I can see the other will be a battle.

Yeah, greed is always a battle on both sides.

I have no problem with anybody, owner, player random joe on the street whatever going for as much money as they can earn. But with the players and the owners there's only so much of the pie. Splitting revenue and costs etc evenly seems the best bet but it's hard to get them to agree to that.

Well with an additional game, television revenue should go up correspondingly so the total revenue available to the players will go up correspondingly.

The players are just going to have to realize that once the rosters are increased that salaries are not going to dramatically go up for one year while the rosters are being adjusted.

Yup as I said it will take both sides working together. Something they don't have the greatest track record of doing.

Didn’t they just get a huge windfall with the new Amazon contract?

They are paid more for playing an extra week. I don't think they'll increase roster size just yet. Most teams are done after the last game.
