An arrest warrant for NFL player and former Park Vista High star Tre Mason has been withdrawn after his attorneys filed a motion saying that Mason missed a court appearance because he was hospitalized.
Mason has been involved in a series of bizarre events in the past few months that family members say may be the result of head injuries sustained during his football career.
On Aug. 13, Mason was cited for driving with a suspended license after he was stopped by Palm Beach police while behind the wheel of his 2012 Maserati.
A court appearance was scheduled for Sept. 7 in West Palm Beach that Mason skipped.
The motion filed in court states that Mason mssed the court hearing because he was “hospitalized for necessary medical treatment.”
No further information was included.
Mason’s family has expressed concerns about the mental health after several incidents involving law enforcement.
Mason was arrested in March after he was found going 75 mph in a 35-mph zone in Hollywood and refused to identify himself to police. A Taser was used twice on Mason, who was charged with resisting an officer without violence, reckless driving, failure to register a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana in an amount less than 20 grams and failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle.
On July 23, Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies went to the suburban Boynton Beach home of Mason’s mother, who reported that her son was making “irrational” statements. When deputies arrived, Mason said he would call the White House to have them fired and added that “police were responsible for teaching (al-Qaida) how to fly planes.” Mason was not arrested but taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
On July 27, Mason received several citations after he fled from a deputy while riding an ATV at an estimated 80 mph as he was chased from the intersection of Hypoluxo and Hagan Ranch roads to his mother’s home. Mason’s mother told deputies that her son had a “10-year-old’s mindset” as the result of head injuries sustained playing football.
The Los Angeles Rams put Mason on the reserve/did not report list July 30 when he failed to show up for training camp. Rams’ coach Jeff Fisher said he had reached out to Mason without success several times since his March arrest in Hollywood.
They put LT Kahill on IR, so they will be looking for help. Some are wondering if they make a move for Joe Thomas, but the Browns would ask for more than they can pay. So would Saffold be an option for say a 3rd rounder?
And this has nothing to do with it being at LA, I could care less. There's fights at every football stadium cause people are morons so lets just move on from caring about that.

The Rams rebounded from a 28-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 to defeat the Seattle Seahawks at home on Sunday, 9-3. They have yet to score an offensive touchdown this season, but bring a punishing front seven.
Todd Gurley: The Rams badly need to get Gurley going. Their star running back has rushed for only 98 yards on 36 carries through the first two weeks, largely because opposing defenses are stacking eight or nine men in the box. Gurley is averaging 0.89 yards before first contact, third-lowest in the NFL. It’s hard to be productive when you don’t have the space to run free.
WR Tavon Austin: This is the third straight week we’re selecting Austin as a player to watch. He’s that critical to the offense. Austin has been targeted a team-leading 22 times, but has only pulled in nine catches for 63 yards. The Rams like to get Austin the ball near the line of scrimmage to give him space to run, but they have yet to maximize his ability.
RT Rodger Saffold: The offensive line has yet to grade out very well. In Week 2, Saffold was the only lineman to not allow a pressure, according to Pro Football Focus. The other four starting linemen -- Greg Robinson, Tim Barnes,Cody Wichmann, and Rob Havenstein -- allowed two quarterback pressures each. They need to do a better job of protecting QB Case Keenum.
DEFENSE
DT Aaron Donald: Donald has yet to record a sack, but he has graded out as Pro Football Focus’ best defensive tackle in each of the first two weeks. Against the Seahawks, Donald recorded four hits, three hurries, and four defensive stops. The Rams won Week 2 largely because of the pressure created by their defensive line, and Donald will look to lead that effort again.
LB/S Mark Barron: Barron plays a critical role on the Rams as someone who can drop back into coverage or plug the hole on rushing attempts, especially on a defense that often goes with only two linebackers. Barron, second on the team with 13 tackles, will be critical against Jameis Winston, who has already attempted 84 passes.
CB Troy Hill: If a lingering thigh injury keeps E.J. Gaines out in Week 3, look for Hill to start on the outside opposite Trumaine Johnson. Hill replaced Coty Sensabaugh as the No. 2 cornerback early in Week 2 and was targeted deep four times by Russell Wilson. One ended in a 53-yard catch with less than a minute remaining that almost won Seattle the game.

The Rams enter Raymond James Stadium on Sunday as the only NFL team yet to score a touchdown, and will try to avoid becoming the first team since the expansion Bucs in 1976 to do so in the first three weeks of a season. They'll face a team coming off a demoralizing 40-7 loss to Arizona, but one that could be energized by its home opener. OFFENSE
Jameis Winston: Winston had a disaster of a game against the Cardinals in Week 2, throwing four interceptions and losing a fumble. All the momentum built up from four touchdowns he threw in Week 1? It may not be gone, but it came to a screeching halt. How will he fare against the Rams’ front seven?
WR Mike Evans: A big reason Winston can rebound is Evans, who had nine catches for 157 yards last year against the Rams. The Bucs still lost that one, but No. 13 did some damage. He and Winston also have improved quite a bit on the deep ball, although it wasn’t accurate enough when Patrick Peterson picked one off last week. Through two weeks, Evans has 11 catches for 169 yards.
RB Charles Sims: If Doug Martin can’t go because of an ankle injury, Sims is the next man up. Unlike Martin, a tough inside runner, Sims is more elusive on the outside and contributes significantly in the screen game. He’s also an asset downfield in the passing game. He’ll get a lot more touches this week, and so will Jacquizz Rodgers, whom the team signed last week.
DEFENSE
DE Noah Spence: Robert Ayers, one of the most valuable and versatile pieces on the Bucs’ defensive line, had to leave Sunday’s game against the Cardinals with an ankle injury, and he may not play against the Rams. That means a lot more attention on Spence, a rookie second-round pick who got the first sack of his NFL career last week. The sack came from rushing out of the left side, the first time he’s done that in his career.
DT Gerald McCoy: Rams fans can appreciate what an outstanding three-technique can do because they have Aaron Donald. McCoy, a four-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle, makes the Bucs' defensive line go. In the three seasons before this one he had 26 1/2 sacks, and he’s the focal point of every opposing offense’s game plan. In fact, defensive coordinator Mike Smith, who used to be the coach of the Falcons, has joked that they had many “sleepless nights trying to keep him out of our backfield.” A Rams offensive line that's still a work in progress may have its hands full.
CB Brent Grimes: The Bucs are one of just three teams not to have a takeaway on defense, and they gave up six explosive plays for 209 yards last week. A lot of focus shifts to the secondary, with high expectations for Grimes and rookie Vernon Hargreaves III and also their third cornerback, Alterraun Verner. Now is the time they need to show some return on that investment and get their hands on the ball.

Just considering what happened this off season for them, spending the vast amount of trade capital to move up to #2, to take the Rams leftovers. They get a kid Carson Wentz from N. Dakota State, admittedly trained in a pro system, who gets little work in PreSeason because of an injury..Then goes on to QB two wins in the NFL...The latest one is against the Bears at Soldier Field on Monday Night Football, which is hard enough for a veteran QB to do, considering it's an away game on a large stage....It's not too big for him.
Then, the Eagles recoup their first round pick by trading Sam.....This transformed their franchise, and Howie Roseman is the GM of the year. Adam Schefter, and many others, are gushing about the Eagles setting up their franchise for 10-15 years.
Now we come back to Jared Goff and Les Snead....Not all Top Picks pan out, and that's not being negative, it's just reality. We knew Jared would have challenges coming from that Spread system, but he DOES have skills........It's a scary time for me, wondering if we made the wrong choice here...I may puke the first time Goff starts, because so much of our future is tied up in him...He HAS TO PAN OUT..HE FARKING HAS TO! Snead, you will not have a career in football if this doesn't work out, imo.
Luck is a key component for a young team to build momentum. Looks like Doug Martin will be out 3 weeks with a hamstring injury. Hopeful the Rams can take advantage and come away with a tough NFC road win on Sunday.

Missed the last few minutes of the 2nd after I went to take a pee. The crowd was ridiculous, at one point I was shoulder to shoulder walking thru a cluster of people and we BARELY moved for a while. Made my way around to the torch and bought a $15 craft brew.
These were are REAL seats. Was able to watch the 1st Q from 3 rows behind the 45/50 though.

Rams tape review: Big passes from Case Keenum, a save by Troy Hill and a forced fumble to win Rams made their return to the Coliseum on Sunday a triumphant one with a 9-3 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
Each week we review the tape to see what worked, what didn’t and what you might have missed from the previous week. Today, we focus on the passing game.
What: Seahawks FB Will Tukuafu lines up as a receiver, clearing space in the middle for Russell Wilson to run
Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson’s ability to extend and make plays appeared to be hampered a bit by his injury, which the Rams noticed. On this play he’s able to take the open grass in front of him for a five-yard gain after Seattle ran fullback Will Tukuafu (46) out to the sideline to line up as a receiver, forcing the Rams to adjust their coverage.
The kicker on this is linebacker Alec Ogletree’s (52) late hit on Wilson which gave the Seahawks another 15 yards.
This also play got a mention in the things you might have missed piece from Sunday, but here you can see how linebacker Mike Morgan (57) gets caught in space watching Todd Gurley (30) in the flat for a potential screen pass — a standard part of the Rams offense — while also trying to keep tabs on tight end Lance Kendricks (88). This was quarterbackCase Keenum’s biggest pass of the game.
“The only way they had a chance to beat us was with trick plays,” Seahawks safety Earl Thomas said after the game. “The screen and then the gadget play to the tight end.”

Tavon Austin was targeted on those screen passes three times and took the ball on an end around once — all trickery which Seattle was prepared to deal with.
“We expect that from him. We expect some deep developing. They're not afraid to run him down the field, which you saw,” Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman said. “When he's in a certain position, certain spots, there are some expectations.”
Here’s an example of that deep stuff Sherman was talking about. Watch how the left receiver clears out the corner and safety Earl Thomas to give Austin an opportunity for a big play. Another key here is tight end Lance Kendricks (88) drawing safety Kam Chancellor (31) away from the play (better seen in the second camera angle) just enough to delay his pursuit.
attacked undrafted Rams cornerback Troy Hill several times. Here they went after him on a deep pass to receiver Tyler Lockett, which went for 53 yards. Despite getting beaten by a perfectly placed pass from Wilson, Hill made a game-saving play with his ankle tackle of Lockett.
Hi all, I'm not much for conspiracy theories but I couldn't help but think about this last night and I can't shake the idea.
Think about this. What if Fisher has been promised a front office job, working the draft and looking for personnel, as it seems that he loves that, if he would go ahead and draft a passing QB to run the next head coach's offense?
Goff doesn't seem to fit Fisher's mold of a QB and he didn't take Wentz who would have been great for Fisher and also would have stepped in much sooner.
I know that this seems far fetched but why else would they be talking contract extensions like Fisher has a future with the Rams?
Even though he has a losing record and doesn't seem to be in too big of a hurry to change that this year.

Help me understand, Jim. Are Fisher/Snead really that bad at leading a team to success? I can't even imagine how they can have so many draft picks, reasonably friendly cap space to sign free agents and come away with such stunning mediocrity?
And I'd like to point out that I've been consistent over the last 4+ years in these chats saying that the Rams real problem lies in their utterly incompetent OLine. Heck, Tom Brady could line up behind the Rams front 5 and, at best, look like a pedestrian QB.
Well, the O-line wasn't terrible Sunday. They held up pretty well against the Seattle pass rush, although Greg Robinson did his best to keep the Seahawks going in the end allowing a sack and getting called for holding on the Rams' last real possession. (The one before the kneel-down sequence.) But this certainly doesn't look like a team capable of ending the franchise's string of seasons without a winning record.

------------ The Rams won this week not because of what they did, but because of Russel Wilson's high ankle sprain. He was noticeably slowed down. If he had been even 90%, he would've won that game with his legs and lead his team to at least 1 or 2 touchdowns.
Listen, you have to give the Rams defense a lot of credit. Keenum did hit some nice passes when he had to. But overall, I agree with you. I think the Seahawks win by 10 with a healthy Wilson.

The posting mentioned that concessions often ran out at Rams games in St. Louis too - any truth to that?
My wife and family attended basically every Rams game for at least the first 10 years the team was in St. Louis. We were charter PSL holders. I never heard her mention that the concession stands at the Dome were out of stuff. Maybe others on this chat can tell us differently.
--------- I was at the game Sunday. I did not attempt to leave my seat during the game because the Coliseum Is pretty much not set up to handle 90K+ people walking around. Before the game you could not get around the concession stands it was so crowded. But the game itself was fun, crowd was into it and loud.
Perhaps the Rams should cap their attendance at a certain number, 70,000 or so, because of those issues. Of course, if the team keeps going entire games without a touchdown, the issue will take care of itself.

Very interesting game this Sunday. He returns to Carolina, the scene of the crime so to speak. That's where he suffered the first of his two ACL knee injuries in the middle of the 2013 season. Carolina's defense is very good. No Adrian Peterson. Could be a tough afternoon. Over the long term, or at least until Peterson gets back in the lineup, if the Vikings can have at least the threat of a running game I think Bradford will do fine.

Tough, tough call. The minutes leading up to kickoff and right after the game started vs. Minnesota was the loudest I've ever heard a stadium in all my years of covering the game. It was the first home playoff game in St.. Louis NFL history. And the Greatest Show on Turf at its finest. But I think I'd have to give the nod to the Tampa Bay game. Such an intense, physical contest. The catch by Ricky Proehl. And that fact that it meant the Rams were headed to the Super Bowl.
--------- No...it was awesome at the game this Sunday. It was a great crowd despite the heat. Yes, they did run out of bottled water at some stands (not all), but there are plenty of drinking fountains and folks were refilling their bottles.
I think the Rams would have won even with a healthy Wilson. They did beat them 3 times before when he was healthy. Great to see Pace & Faulk included in the ceremony. What a great day!

It will cost around $2 billion to build a state of the art stadium.
Let's use the Green Bay model and have the community own the team. Here's how:
We get 250,000 football fans to set up their IRA's and brokerage accounts with a custodian that allows alternative investments (I can arrange that). If we get merely $20,000 on average from each fan (some more, some less) we've got $5 Billion.
We give Mark Davis $2 Billion for his team. We build a $2 Billion stadium. That leaves us $1 Billion in reserves.
We hire real football people to run the team and we all reap the benefits of ownership profits and having a team that tries to win games and actually does win games (the O-Raiders are on the rise.....defensive struggles aside).
What do you think? Should we get started?

in the later years, I'd see him on the sidelines occasionally. But pretty early. I think he was usually out there before the dome opened its doors to the crowd. But he was never as visible as he has been so far in the Coliseum _ I'm including the two preseason games there. And I can never recall seeing him on the sidelines during a game.

If it's over, is he HOF worthy? I believe he should be there someday. He performed wonderfully for a lot of years on a terrible team. If he had played for a half way decent team, I think there's no doubt that he'd get in.
I think he's done. There are a lot of running backs injured right now in the NFL. I think if he was going to get back in the league, it would be now. And no, I don't think he'll get into the Hall of Fame. Rarely has so much talent been wasted on such bad teams.

---------- It's funny because the Rams two best players (Donald & Gurley) were both redundancies in terms of the team's strength when they were drafted. The D Line had Long, Brocker and Quinn. They didn't need Donald. Gurley is really the same way. Mason was holding his own and with the lack of emphasis on running in today's NFL made Gurley a huge luxury pick. Imagine if they had drafted for need vs want?

I just received the Inglewood stadium ticket survey. The Rams are canvassing to see how much that they will charge the LA Rams fan for the new Inglewood tickets. The range of prices are:
1st level Midfield Personnel seat license: $50-70K with an annual season cost of $4500 for 10 games.
3rd level Midfield Personnel club seat license: $25-50K with an annual season ticket cost of $3500 for 10 games.
1st level end zone Personnel Seat license: $9K with an annual season ticket cost of $2000 for 10 games.
The lowest PSL came in at $5000-6000 for nosebleeds. It is interesting that all of the sample views for seat selection were from Cowboys stadium. Jerry Jones has his fingerprints all over Inglewood.
Enos, out of the kindness of his heart, will finance the cost to you for 10 years at 8% interest...doing that will double the cost of the PSL in some cases. I remember when people back in 1995 thought the $1,000 PSLs were out of sight.

I feel bad for Pace. Even though it still would've been awkward, he deserved his own ring ceremony, not one watered down with past Hall of Famers. That's how it's gone for any other Hall of Famer that I can remember. And don't do it on opening day when it would get lost in the shuffle anyway. Wait until the middle of the season and give Orlando his due, even if it was 1,800 miles from where he played.

No, we never did make playoff predictions. It's a little odd doing so two games into the season, but I'll do it anyway: Division winners Arizona, New York Giants, Carolina, and Minnesota in the NFC, with Seattle and Green Bay as the wild-cards. Division winners New England, Pittsburgh, Houston, and Kansas City in the AFC, with Denver and Cincinnati as the wild-cards. Pittsburgh beats Arizona in the Super Bowl.

Yeah, I saw that. Keenum has a lot of intangibles, good leader. But I don't see him as having much of a ceiling.

Well, even with a quarterback coach and offensive coordinator, Martz could be very hands-on when it came to quarterbacks. He was very demanding and precise with respect to his expectations for the position. Fisher is a defensive-oriented coach and rarely do you see him working directly with a QB.
*(Mike Martz also saw quarterbacks as just another cog-in-the-wheel and disposable. Get sacked over and over, game after game and get hurt? No problem, move on to the next one. Would I love to have Martz back coaching the Rams? You bet!)*
------------- How much do you think working w Norv Turner will impact Bradford's performance? & Diggs too.
I think Turner remains a good play-caller and will be good for Bradford. And based on what I've seen from Diggs, he at least has the potential to be a true No. 1 receiver, something Bradford never had in St. Louis. But a lot of what Turner calls is based off play-action and a good running game. And minus Peterson that may not be the case.
--------- I was at both 99 playoff games (Vikings & Bucs). Loved both of course, but I was so nervous during the Bucs game, and the noise was so intense, that I was literally feeling sick after the Proehl catch (but I didn't care!). That catch was right beneath my seat and is favorite football moment. I would make the argument that it was a better "The Catch" than Dwight Clark's.
In terms of degree of difficult, they're not even close. Proehl was getting interfered with on the play with Kelly, had to keep his feet in-bounds, and temporarily had the ball pinned on the side of his body.

Here's how I rate the winless teams from least surprising to most surprising: 8.) Cleveland, 7.) Chicago, 6.) Buffalo, 5.) Miami, 4.) Jacksonville, 3.) Washington, 2.) Indianapolis, 1.) New Orleans. I knew Indy had lots of issues in their secondary but sure didn't think they'd lose at home to Detroit. And I figured New Orleans would at least split against Oakland and the NY Giants. I say Cleveland, Washington, Buffalo, San Diego, and Chicago go 0-3.
--------- my dad took me to my first game at the Coliseum in 1969. The Rams and Roman Gabriel beat the Saints 36-17. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was at the game and I wish my late dad could have been there to see the Rams come back. The move to Anaheim was a huge mistake. I know the Coliseum isn't fan friendly, but I wish could play there forever.
Also, regarding the crowd and traffic issues, the Coliseum routinely handles large crowds for USC games, but since USC is adjacent to the Coliseum the students walk to the games which reduces the cars coming in. There is very good public transportation to the game. I took the Silver Line for $1.75 each way and was in and out in a flash. I do feel for St. Louis fans, but we were without my team for 22 years.
While I appreciate your thoughts, there are thousands of fans in St. Louis who now feel they are without their team. As even Leigh Steinberg pointed out in my Sunday article, it's not like LA really did anything to get the Rams back. St. Louis had hundreds of millions of dollars on the table.

Yeah, he's several years removed now from those back-to-back AFC title game appearances with the Jets. And hiring his brother Rob as defensive coordinator wasn't what I'd call a good move.

Fred Miller had indicated in advance that he would attend to the Legends organizers, but never showed up. Tommy Polley on the other hand just showed up unannounced out of the blue. That's why they didn't have a jersey for him. I did not have a chance to talk to Tommy at the game.
--------- Why doesn't StL go for a Canadian Football franchise? It's more exciting.
It takes a little getting used to, but I've got to admit the Canadian game is fun to watch. But currently, I don't think the CFL is allowed to expand in the U.S. as was the case a couple of decades ago.

Not sure. When I was interviewed they asked me about a wide range of topics. And you're never sure on those things what will and what won't be used.

1.) Arizona 12-4; 2.) Seattle 10-6; 3.) Rams 6-10; 4. ) San Francisco 5-11. I don't think the West is quite as strong as it has been in recent years.

I think it's going to take a while. I'll say Week 9, barring injury.

Just a guess, but I'd say at least a couple weeks away. He looked very good in that preseason opener, no doubt, but that was against second_, third_, and fourth-stringers. So I wouldn't get too excited on him just yet.
-------- How well were you received at the Coliseum?
Good reception. It was great to see the Rams PR crew. Got a warm welcome from Fisher, Waufle, some of the equipment staff, several players and even Demoff down in the locker room. A few LA Rams fans even shouted out hello as I was walking on the field to the locker room area after the game. The LA media was cordial. I've known some of them for many years.
---------- After the first 2 weeks, what teams have surprised you the most? My answer would be the Eagles and the rookie QB.
The Eagles would have to be near the top of that list. Not just because of Wentz, but just the efficient, poised way they are playing overall. Aggressive on defense, very good tackling. The addition of ex-Rams Rodney McLeod, I'd have to say has helped solidify the back end. Not many mistakes. I'd say the Giants to a degree as well. I'm not saying their defense is fantastic, but so far it looks much improved over the 2015 version.
They put a lot of money into retooling that side of the ball, and Spags is off to a good start with all the new faces. In the other direction I'm surprised to see New Orleans and Indy at 0-2, although I do realize the Colts have a lot of issues injury-wise in the secondary.
---------- I have noticed that during both of the first two games, although more so vs SF, the middle of the field has been wide open for opposing QBs to take off and run on passing downs. Why is that?
Almost always that means man coverage on the back end. Can't tell you as far as the line of scrimmage goes. Perhaps the Rams' D-tackles had some stunts going where both Donald and Brockers, or whatever combination was in the game, went wide to the quarterback.
-------- Is it illegal to grab a player by the dreadlocks in order to attempt to tackle him? Does that apply in college as well?
Now that's a random question. It's considered an extension of the uniform and is fair game. Steven Jackson used to have his dreds pulled every know and then.
---------- Watching the Seattle game, I noticed Michael Bennett virtually had no sleeves on his uniform as they were tucked up underneath his shoulder pads? Is that close to a equipment violation of some sort? if not, why don't more defensive linemen do that so that O lineman cannot hold them as easily?
Maybe he was hot. No, I just think that's his style. But you're right, it does give O-linemen a little less to grab onto. I don't know if that's a uniform violation or not. If it is, Bennett apparently doesn't mind paying the fine.

Look at is this way. He didn't even have a single yard last year after two games and ended up in the PRo Bowl playing behind basically the same line.

AT least Jackson was somewhat built to handle defensive lines with 7 stacked in the box. He was built to pound and punish. Gurley is not, he needs space to operate....and space is something that the offensive line and the passing game ain't gonna give him.
Yeah, you do wonder about that. Gurley isn't a toothpick by any means, but he certainly isn't as stout as Jackson.

Yes, I did. Again, it was down in the locker room area during the postgame chaos.
---------- It's incredibly difficult to develop a franchise quarterback in the NFL. If Tom Brady had been drafted by Jeff Fisher and the Titans (and not Bellichick), I suspect he'd be the offensive coordinator at Central Michigan, and not in the debate for best QB of all time. This is a long way of saying that if the Rams truly believe Goff can be a franchise quarterback, they need to get Fisher far, far away from him as soon as possible.
I mentioned this in an article many weeks ago. In terms of areas of expertise, it's not like the current Rams staff has an abundance of quarterback gurus.
---------- In fairness too Mr. Bill, the Big Red were on average an average team during their years in St. Louis. there were a lot of years when they had a good team but were stuck in the best division in football (think the NFC east during the 70's and early 80's, when Dallas and Washington were always two of the best teams, and the Giants and Eagles were good sometimes. Yes, Jim, I am actually remembering the Bidwell years fondly thanks to Stan.
The best of the Bidwill years in St. Louis certainly weren't as good as the Greatest Show on Turf years. But you're right, the worst of the Big Red wasn't remotely as bad as the worst of the Rams _ particularly that 15-65 trainwreck from 2007-2011.

I got this game circled on my calendar. I want nothing more than for AD to absolutely go bananas & crush the cheatriots. You can get fired up about the 49'ers at home game, or any other one on the calendar, but I want this one to go down with a big fat W blanking the cheatriots. They will have no answer for AD & Quinn & their cast-away DT (easley) by that game. All their OL will be worn down by that time in the season.
Wentz is not only starting, but he's winning games and impressing in the process. He looks like he's been in the league for a year or two, already.
Goff has only been active in one game and has not seen a single snap. Moreover, Fisher seems willing to wait indefinitely to start Goff when he's "ready". Fans are speculating maybe game 5, maybe after the bye, maybe not until next year. WTH?
I'm frustrated...
I see only 2 possibilities to explain this current rookie QB state of affairs.
1) S&F picked the wrong QB. If so, this will be a career killing decision for both. Unless it is learned that Fisher is the one that insisted on Goff over the recommendations of Snead. In that case, only Fisher's career would be destroyed while Snead's would still be damaged. There is no greater personnel mistake than picking the wrong QB at #1 overall.
2) The coaching and prep by the Rams for Goff is hopelessly inferior to that of the Eagle coaching staff for Wentz. I'm leaning in this direction, myself. Fisher does not have a stellar record of selecting and quickly developing skill position players on O.
Neither of the above two alternatives is reassuring to me. How about you?
.....For you to be ok about Jeff Fisher getting a contract extension.
Like it or not, there's a good chance he'll get an extension. Personally, I don't want him around anymore even if we win 10+ games, simply because we all know Jeff Fisher and what he can do/has done. I honestly just feel like we're not going to go anywhere as long as he's our coach, sadly enough.
So I was curious what other people's thoughts on this were. It's one of those things where you might sacrifice the rebuilding year or two to hopefully be better long term. Problem is, no one really knows what will happen whether we keep Fisher or get a new coach.
Not going to beat a dead horse on this one. I'm disappointed. We'll see if he changes his mind come Week 4. I think the poster who said Week 5 at the earliest is probably right.
After the 9'er debacle, while most of us jumped off the ledge...I posted a "lone wolf" article predicting a bounce back against the Hawks. I didn't see any others that had similar posts.
Now I see celebration posts, posts about improving players, and recognition of the offensive limitations.
To me, this next game will indicate if this team will have a winning record this year. Fisher's history with this team has several key elements:
1. We do well in the NFC West but struggle against Non Conference opponents. The coaching staff purposely focuses energy and preparation within the division.
2. We do better at home than on the road.
3. We regularly lay eggs against supposedly inferior teams.
4. Stringing wins together is rare.
5. This offense is a looooonnnnggg way from being effective.
This game has the feel of last year's Redskins game. We should win. Last year we had beaten both the Hawks and Cards. The missing elements of preparation, passion against unfamiliar opponents, and consistency in previous years doomed this team to 7-9 BS. The Bucs are coming off a tough loss vs AZ. Chronicling Fisher's Ram history, this is where the real let down begins.
If we ground Tampa into the turf, look for a winning season. If not....I will try to enjoy watching this team train for next year.
