What Redskins Fans Are Saying Before The Game

Redskins vs Rams Prediction Thread: Possible Gauntlet March?

Sunday, the Redskins head to Los Angeles to take on a Rams team that obliterated the Colts in week 1.

Let's face it; we all expected to see a crisp, sharp, attentive group of players on the field this past weekend, polished, on the edge of being in mid-season form.

That didn't quite happen.

Luckily for me, I was doing repairs on my garage roof thanks to hurricane Harvey and didn't get to see the actual game, but I managed to catch some highlights against an Eagles team that was kinda in the same boat as we are. Both teams, at times, looked good, but only for a bit, then the miscues, stupid penalties, and flat out unenthusiastic efforts put out on the field.

The Redskins briefly led the game, but it seemed the Eagles were more hungry for the W than the Redskins were, and after the whatever it was, which led to the defensive TD at the end did us in.

This week the Redskins hit the west coast, and if my memory serves me correct, they don't do so hot in sunny California; in fact, anything west of the Mississippi has not looked good for them with the exception of Dallas, but that's a rival and anything can happen in those games.

The Rams completely dominated the Luck-less Colts, Goff looked comfortable out there, and with new HC Sean McVay, he may very well be a good QB this year. RB Gurley can pound the rock and physically punish people, so it will be a chore to get him down, and even though the WR corp doesn't look that strong, they got the job done last sunday. Tayvon Austin is their best WR, and he is shifty as they come.

Defensively, well, this is a strange viewpoint; the Redskins HAD McVay, and COULD HAVE had Wade Phillips as the DC, but for reasons it didn't happen. Now both of them are together in Los Angeles, and I have to admit, Wade gets the most out of his players, and they were already a scrappy, testy, aggressive group, but now they will have someone who has been there before and has seen everything, so he will have them on their toes, eating their own shoes, ready to get after Cousins & co.

Now, it was week 1, and the Redskins seem to start slow then pick up as the season goes, AND the Rams did smoke the Colts, but its HOW it all happened that has me concerned. Gruden has his hands full, and I'm not really a fan of him calling plays, but that's why he's a HC and I'm here typing.

It is a difficult job to call plays AND be emotionally tuned into the game itself, looking at strengths and weaknesses, exploiting them, and calling the right plays all at the same time. Maybe he's Superman, Time will tell all.

I see this game as an all-out dogfight. The Redskins will have to be on their toes the entire game or they could fall behind very quickly if they don't take it seriously enough.

Look for Cousins to be under almost constant pressure, and hopefully Goff will have the same come his way.

When the dust settles,

I think the Redskins will not be able to keep up the emotion,

Redskins 16

Rams 27

I hope I'm wrong.

* First correct score prediction gets a a new Redskins cap. Good luck and GO SKINS!

38-7 Rams.

Wade makes Jay his **** (again) and McVay knows how to attack our defense.

Cousins struggles again against another mighty front but the D carries the day. Rams drive late but Gallette sack strips Goff to perserve the lead.

For me this is a must-win game.

--------
If we lose while Kirk has another bad game and Grudens team once again came out poorly, is bench both of their asses on principal alone.

Sadly we don't have a boy genius as backup coach nor a young QB to take over for Kirk. We're in purgatory.
--------
Good lord, you guys are so overreactive. Rams probably won't break 30 points again this season. That score was a fluke.

Still, I think we lose. September Kirk Cousins is barely an NFL starter. Offense will get points solely because the defense manages a few turnovers. Other than that, they get dominated again. Defense will hold up their end but a Kirk turnover (probably off a drop by Pryor) is the difference.

Skins 14
Rams 17

sadness abound. 0-4 is in play but no way are the Rams some juggernaut. They stink just as much as we do. They just played a team that didn't have the sense to sign a competent NFL backup for their glass man starter
--------
Heart: Redskins 20, Rams 10...No way this team loses to the pitiful Rams and Goff. Our defense will bring them back to earth.

Head: Rams 21, Redskins 20...No way the Redskins travel cross country and grab a win vs their former OC who knows everything about Cousins and the team's tendencies.

Liver: Redskins 35, Rams 14...This is the NFL. One week you're trash, the next week you're treasure. Cousins and Pryor finally get in sync and connect for numerous big plays. Oh, and the defense creates multiple TOs again, scoring on one...again.
-------
lol everyone overreacting over the rams beating an awful colts team. We play better, still struggle a little offensively the rams have a good defense, but our defense makes more plays.

Mcvay knows us and we know him, nothing big there. The Rams believe their own hype and we roll.
.... but if we lose then I don't think we win a game this year lol.

Remember how long ago it was that the Skins played a competent game on offense and ended up with a victory?...Yeah...

Rams don't need to be a juggernaut to beat the Redskins right now, unfortunately. 24-17, L.A....

Skins 37-31 In overtime:

Aaron Donald sacks Cousins so hard he explodes into a cloud of pink mist

My gut tells me the Rams are going to beat us. My heart tells me we'll go out there and bring home a W. But the reality is that they are probably better coached than our squad, and will likely execute better, too. We'll see who looks better next Sunday. I hope it's Cousins, but I have a fear that it'll be a see-what-I-can-do display from Boy Wonder and Goff.
--------
We're gonna get our asses kicked and then I'm gonna get drunk.
-------
Rams 20 - Skins 10. Sad.

I don't think we've ever beaten a former Skins coach in the Snyder era, and Wade Phillips OWNS Gruden. This will be UGLY. 24-13 Rams.

We usually play better away, and the offense usually corrects itself (after a bad showing) as long as the opposing team isn't somewhere in the top 10. And the Rams are not.

I ain't scared of the red headed Hobbit, and I sure ain't scared of Jared Goff.

Skins get pressure. Goff lays a turd. Kirk and the Skins bounce back.

Skins 27

Cooper Kupp becomes a household name and continues the tradition of an unknown rookie having a career day against us.

Wade Phillips makes it personal and shows the Skins front office what they missed out on.

31-24 Rams.
---------
Redskins 19
Rams 16
-------
Rams, the freaking RAMS of all teams, to steamroller us.

McVay will have them SO pumped for this. And with confidence sky high to start with after last week, along with Wade having our number most every time his D faces the B&G, I sadly can't see anything else but a very painful watch late Sunday.

Rams to hang 30-40, Redskins to be in the teens.

Extreme Skins to hit new lows of implosion.

24-21 Skins in a gritty dogfight squeaker

I'm on board with the Colts being extremely brutal. That team is hot garbage. Overreaction time around here.

There will be little home field advantage.

Cooper Kupp.

Isn't that the light-footed bird that races Mario down the mountain on N64? That damn bird gave me fits for 3 hours, til I FINALLY beat it, then I was so mad it took so long I accidentally turned off the game.
--------
Our D keeps us in the game. The O line provides better pass protection, Perine debuts and does very well, Cousin's gets in a rhythm even hitting Doctson in the EZ and the Skins win 24 - 17.
---------
Rams 27 Skins 24

Skins play better but a 4th quarter mistake once again costs them a win.
-------
This pick is base "ZERO" on the fact that the Rams hung 46 on a terrible Colts team. This is my heart/head talking:

Ramrods- 26 (4 FGs, including game winner from 53 yards- because no one misses 50+ yarders against us, ever)

Skins- 23
--------
Redskins - 31
Rams - 27
---------
Boy Wonder and Son-of-Bum win 31-3
---------
My heart says we pull a miracle, but my head says 30-10 rams. I had an uneasy feeling in Pre-Season that they just don't click. I am so glad i did not pay for nfl sunday ticket this year. At least I don't have that pain on top of it. I can only feel for the ticket holders. I called for 6 and 10 season, it should slip to 3 - 13 now.. On a positive not, I do believe our D has taken a step fwd.
--------
The "they just need more time to get in synch" argument won't hold water after Goff and his new receivers put on a show.

Meaningless Power Rankings After Week 1

Let's kick it off with PFT's Mike Foolio who can't help himself from constantly taking shots at the Rams. His beloved Patriots are at #5 even though they lost. In fact, there are two other teams ahead of the Rams who lost.
********************************************************************************
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/09/12/week-one-power-rankings-6/

18. Rams (1-0): The Rams nearly scored one point for every fan in attendance.
*****************************************************************************
Peter King and his buddies rank the Rams even lower while placing the Patriots at #5. There are 6 other losing teams ahead of the Rams, including the Chargers. Apparently for those who make up these meaningless rankings it's not what you did lately that counts but what you did last season.

23. LOS ANGELES RAMS (1-0)

Last Week’s Rank: 26

Points in MMQB Power Poll: 202

Highest-Place Vote: 14th

Lowest-Place Vote: 25th (2)

Rams by the numbers

Correct me if I am wrong. Per NFL.com, here are the numbers after Week 1:

Total Offense:
upload_2017-9-12_10-38-22.png

(This is based on total yards. I hope this remains this high all season (a man can dream, right?)

Total Defense:
upload_2017-9-12_10-40-43.png

(tied with Green Bay based on total yards)

Jared Goff is currently number six in the league in passing (Bradford pushed him out of the top five last night) He is number two on passing 20+ yards or more and number three in passer rating.

Last one..The Rams are number 1 in punting inside the 20. (yeah I know..shocker!!)

Hope we can keep up the great work!!!!

So, now that the dust has settled from the Colt game...

There were a couple of players that kinda underwhelmed me after watching and then re-watching the game.

And both were on D.

One was Barron. He seemed to disappear. Only got noticed for a flag he drew, tbh.

The other was Barwin. No impressive plays. He was just "there", you know?

Maybe I'm being unreasonable, but I expected to see at least a flash or two from these two guys. Seemed like everybody else on both O and D jumped out at least a time or two.

Maybe next game it might be their turn to shine? Sure hope so. We'll see...

Yeah, it's only one game, but unless each can start making an occasional "wow" play now and then, I don't like their chances for being here in '18, tbh. Both are carrying big cap hit salaries and there are so many players becoming UFA's next year...

Rams D

.

fuck i love them.

how good was it seeing 3 and outs for a change. how good was it seeing dbs attacking the ball and getting ints.

we'll find out more next week against better opposition but i don't think their style will change much.

happy to see the back of williams.

Rams coach Sean McVay building his 'I Love Me Room'

http://www.espn.com/blog/los-angele...-coach-sean-mcvay-building-his-i-love-me-room

Alden Gonzalez

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- Sean McVay's grandfather, John, is a humble man. But he allowed himself what he playfully called an "I Love Me Room," which he would fill with collectibles from his time as a New York Giants head coach and a San Francisco 49ers executive. McVay has one now, too. It's the family room of his Encino, California, home. And in there now is a football, gifted to him by Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke in the aftermath of Sunday's 46-9, season-opening victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

"We'll see if I can get enough stuff to have like what my grandpa did," McVay said with a smile late Monday afternoon.

The 31-year-old McVay had pretty much forgotten about his first win as an NFL head coach by then, but the football world was still captivated by what he did with a Rams team that generally lacked life as it navigated through a 4-12 record last year.
The Rams -- last in the NFL in yards in each of the past two seasons and outside the top 20 in offensive DVOA in each of the past 10 -- scored more points in their first game under McVay than they did in their last four games combined last season. Their four wins in 2016 came by a combined 18 points, 19 points fewer than their margin of victory on Sunday. Jared Goff went from having a passer rating of 63.9 as a rookie to having a passer rating of 117.9 in his first game as a second-year player. It helped give the Rams their highest-scoring opening game of the Super Bowl era.

McVay was able to at least enjoy all that with his parents, who flew in from Atlanta. He watched the Cowboys-Giants game with them on Sunday night, then showed up at the team facility the next morning and got back to work, with his phone blowing up.

"It’s been really cool just to see the amount of people that are reaching out, texting you just to say congratulations, that are happy for you," said McVay, the youngest head coach in modern NFL history. "There’s been a lot of people that have reached out that I’m very appreciative of."

One of those who reached out was his former boss, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden, who will face the Rams in Week 2 for a game that McVay has been thinking about for quite some time. McVay admitted that "it'll be weird to separate the emotional aspect" from his second game as an NFL head coach, but he's confident those feelings will dissipate upon kickoff.

"I’ve got a great relationship with a lot those people in Washington and I’m always pulling for those guys, except for this coming week," McVay said. "There’s a handful of people that I still keep in close contact with. I'm looking forward to seeing them and looking forward to getting past this game. Then we can kind of try to be able to help each other out as we move forward."

The Rams weren't perfect on offense in Week 1. They averaged only 1.9 yards per rushing attempt and committed seven penalties, two glitches that McVay continually brings up. But the Rams' passing game flowed in a way it rarely did last year, with Goff completing 21 of 29 passes on a turnover-free day and four players catching for at least 50 yards. The pocket was clean, the receivers were open all over the field. And the defense -- without Aaron Donald, who is expected to play in Week 2 -- dominated from start to finish, returning two interceptions for touchdowns, forcing a fumble, causing a safety and registering four sacks.

Veteran outside linebacker Robert Quinn credited McVay and longtime defensive coordinator Wade Phillips for how they "raised our accountability level, our standards."

McVay prefers to keep the focus on his players.

"You certainly want to continue to raise the standards and the expectations, but I think those guys did a great job," he said. "There’s a lot of confident individuals in that locker room. And while you certainly don’t ever take for granted a win and how important and how hard they are to come by in this league, it’s very important to realize that it’s one week."

Louis Riddick goes to bat for Goff

Did anyone see the ESPN segment this morning where Louis Riddick was defending Goff?

It's crazy how much hate the kid takes after 7 games last year in that nightmare of a situation. They looked at his stats and 0-7 record and said he couldn't play. It's going to take a good year from him but I think he wins a lot over.

Future Ram Recruitment

I have done the impossible.

My neighbor has two sons that he has been raising to be Cowboy fans their whole lives. They are 4 and 5 years old but both very interested in sports. They frequently come to visit me and Mason, the oldest one, came over at the beginning of the Rams first preseason game. He sat down with me and watched the entire game. I didn't think much of it because I just figured he enjoyed watching football in general.

He came over a few days later and found a Rams hat in my room. He put it on and starting chanting "Go Rams"! I encouraged him and laughed it off thinking he was only playing around.

About a week later, he came over again after the Rams had just beaten the Raiders in the next preseason game. Without any instruction, he went into my room and put on that Rams hat and began his chanting of "Go Rams" again. I figured I would show him the Rams won to fuel this a little more. We ended up watching Rams highlights for almost an hour and I taught him the names of several Ram players. He was starting to become invested.

A couple days pass and we had invited their whole family over for dinner. When Mason got there, he went back in my room and grabbed that hat again. His Cowboy fan father noticed it when we all sat down for dinner and he told him "Mason, go put that hat back, you are a Cowboy fan". There was a moments hesitation and then Mason stood up in his chair replying "No, dad, I'm not a Cowboys fan. I'm a Rams fan, go Rams!". A pretty awkward and heated argument ensued until his father took the hat and placed it on a shelf out of reach of the little guy. We all finished eating and they went home.

The next day Mason dropped by and asked if he could wear the Rams hat again. He told me "Dad told me I have to be a Cowboy fan but I'm not, I'm a Rams fan". I high-fived him and told him he could keep the hat, I have about 8 more. He took it home proudly, reaffirmed in his Rams fandom. I got a text from my neighbors wife later that night that Mason and his father were once again in a fierce argument over whether he was a Rams fan or a Cowboys fan. She continued on saying "I have never seen him so fixed on something. He even gave all his Cowboy gear to his little brother. His father is not having it".

The next morning I found the Rams hat outside my door with a note from my neighbor stating "Keep this away from Mason". It was never my intention to convert him over to the Rams side but I wasn't about to prevent him either so I put the hat right in the spot I knew he always looked for it. For the next couple weeks he came over periodically, always putting on the Rams hat and showing his Rams fandom by showing me pictures of a Rams logo he drew or telling me Rams player names he watched on YouTube. His father was not happy in the least but was convinced he would convert him back by having him watch the Cowboys opener.

Little Mason came over the Monday morning after the week 1 games smiling like he was in a candy shop. His father marched him up to me and asked him to tell me what he saw yesterday. Mason's smile went away and he said "I watched the Cowboys beat the Giants 19-3...". He paused a second, looked up at his dad, and said "but they didn't score 46 points!". Then he ran upstairs to my room and grabbed the Rams hat and started his chanting again. His dad said he gave up so now Mason is officially a Rams fan. His dad has October 1st circled on his calendar to try to dismantle that if the Cowboys can get a win off us but for now he is helpless against his son's strange love for the Rams. According to Mason, he will always be a fan of the Rams.

Week 2 matchup: Skins

Wanted to start up some discussion wrt the Skins game and what we can expect. Let's start with last year's team:

DEFENSE
vs Pass: 25th YPG (258.1), 9th sacks (38), 20th QB rating (91.1), 20th plays 20+ yards (53).
vs Run: 24th YPG (119.8), T-21st plays 20+ yards (12).
Scoring: 19th PPG (23.9).

OFFENSE
Passing: 2nd YPG (297.4), 4th sacks (23), 7th QBR (97.4), 2nd plays 20+ yards (70).
Rushing: 21st YPG (106), T-12th plays 20+ yards (10).
Scoring: 12th PPG (24.8).

STATS SUMMARY
Playoff passing-centric offense that was weak in rushing and it showed in their redzone performance, however they still put up solid playoff production at 24.8 PPG. Intermediate passing was very impressive.

Their primary issue was their bottom feeder defense that surrendered non-playoff-level points and was a pushover on the ground and in the air.

FREE AGENCY
I feel sorry for Gruden. Dude lost two 1k yard receivers right out the gate, speed threat in Jackson and major possession security blanket in Garcon. Meanwhile they brought in a high upside guy in WR Pryor, and some defensive pieces in LBs McGee and McClain, and S Swearinger.

I think their FA period was one of the worst in the league, but that will come down to how quickly Pryor shows and if he does as a passing game threat, along with Doctson who still looks wet behind the ears.

DRAFT
1: DT Allen (starter/no shoulder issues thus far/4 tackles, 3 solo with QB pressure in game 1)
2. OLB Anderson (edge/depth)
3. CB Moreau (depth/came in torn pec)
4. RB Perine (depth)
4. S Nicholson (depth)
5. TE Sprinkle (depth)
6. C Roullier (depth)
6. WR Davis (PS)
7. LB Clemons (depth)
7. CB Holsey (depth)

Allen is the big addition to a DL that will factor in on Sunday. Big volume draft after that with some guys that will help them, but not in game 2 of this season in LA.

STAFF CHANGES
Lost OC McVay, fired DC Joe Barry, DL coach Rob Akey, DB coach Perry Fewell.
Promoted OC Cavanaugh, DC Manusky, added QB coach O'Connell and DL coach Tomsula.

Cavanaugh had OC stints in Chicago & Baltimore, both with lower end results. Since he's under Gruden it looks like he's the gameplanner, so he should be ok in theory but I think you're talking massive dropoff from McVay to him.

Big pickup on defense was Tomsula, who while a fat dumb@$$ in his HC stint remains one of the better DL coaches in this league. He also has talent to work with there.

PRESEASON & GAME ONE
Skins slumped through preseason with all manner of problems on offense. Major inconsistencies week to week that sort of spilled over into their home loss to division rival Eagles. It looks right now like Gruden is going to have to do a lot of heavy lifting on the offensive side of the ball but you still have an offense that hasn't fired on all cylinders yet so how long will it take him to get it online?

INTANGIBLES
Lots of them in this one. Barry's a close friend of Jay's, however getting fired makes it personal when you meet with another team. Rams will be fired up on defense and smelling blood when they watch that tape of the Skins offense.

Gruden lost a guy who made his job easy on offense and has to adjust. Gotta think he's irked and going to work overtime to gameplan the F out of this one and demonstrate it wasn't all McVay.

SUMMARY
Should probably do injuries but ran out of gas...

This game is in LA. Must-win game for Gruden really, since they're reeling from a divisional loss. Playing his former offensive lieutenant who has his entire team firing on all cylinders it seems. Skins have a better defense this year I think, however so do the Rams and facing the Rams defense is going to be a real tough matchup to "get right" in.

Rams offense meanwhile is not facing a dominant defense by any stretch. They look strong up front, so this matchup comes down to Fatsula taking advantage of an OL he knows well from his SF days. Still, this is a different Rams offense, and I don't think the Skins are all that up front just yet.

This one has win number two for our team written all over it.

Chargers?

I am supposed to despise them or root for them?...do Giants fans hate the Jets?.... why?

I am from Florida so I guess I don't have a say...I really only hate the Whiners, Hags and that big fat #$+?....is it so wrong to pull for Chargers?...I will do as I am told...

Rock On

Rams snap counts week 1

OffenseSnaps.jpg

- The Rams' starting offensive line — left tackle Andrew Whitworth, left guard Rodger Saffold, center John Sullivan, right guard Jamon Brown, and right tackle Rob Havenstein — played together for the vast majority of the game. But Whitworth and Sullivan received five snaps off late in the fourth quarter, with Darrell Williams and Austin Blythe entering the game as their respective replacements. After undergoing a couple of positions changes throughout the preseason, the line is still gaining valuable experience working together in game action.

- Quarterback Jared Goff commanded the Rams' offense through 60 snaps before being taken out of the game late in the fourth quarter, as Sean Mannion ended the contest in victory formation.

- Head coach Sean McVay utilized 12 personnel — a formation with one running back, two tight ends, and two wide receivers — at multiple times throughout the contest, bringing in tight ends Tyler Higbee and Gerald Everett to complement each other on field. Higbee played 53 snaps, with Everett playing 29.

- Sunday's season opener also saw a wide distribution of the football, with Goff targeting eight different receivers. Robert Woods, Sammy Watkins, and Cooper Kupp all took roughly the same amount of offensive snaps with an average of 40 reps per receiver, while running back Todd Gurley played 48 snaps.

- One standout number on the offensive list is wide receiver Tavon Austin’s seven snaps. With the Rams building a big lead early, it’s possible McVay is keeping some of his plans for Austin under wraps for another week. Austin played 14 snaps total — seven on offense and seven on special teams.

DEFENSIVE SNAP COUNTS -

DefenseSnaps.jpg

- Defensive tackle Tyrunn Walker started on the D-line and was a significant factor, making a sack and two tackles for loss in 25 snaps. As expected, rookie Tanzel Smart was a major contributor in the defensive line rotation, taking 29 snaps.

- Cornerback Kayvon Webster was ruled out of the game with a shoulder injury after playing 23 defensive snaps. He was replaced in part by Nickell Robey-Coleman who finished out the game on the outside with 32 reps.

- Several Rams' rookies made a big impression on special teams including cornerback Dominique Hatfield and linebacker Samson Ebukam, playing 16 and 22 snaps on special teams and 10 and 14 defensive snaps, respectively.

- Linebackers Mark Barron and Alec Ogletree were the two most heavily used defensive players, each taking 41 snaps, present in 82% of the Rams time on defense. With the Rams up big in the fourth quarter, they received some rest late in the game

Jared Goff - Week 1 Grade

I have finished grading Goff for week 1 against the Colts.

My game grade was a 5.11 (superior)
Per Play was a 4.17 (excellent)
Drive Rating was a 0.94 (excellent)

Pro Football Focus gave him a preliminary grade of 80.7 (Good)

ESPN's ridiculous QBR gave him a 65.7 (Average)

You can see attached file to view my grade sheet.

There was only 5 failed plays that he received some blame for and only 1 drive failure. It wasn't necessarily a tough game but he made some big plays. Anticipated a couple of throws into zones and got a few completions against pressure. The ESPN grade is too low. A Superior grade might be high but as you can see he was excellent but the combination of being excellent in both areas gave him the superior grade.

Balanced attack yesterday

We had a total of 64 plays. Of those, 33 were run plays, 31 pass plays.

Even though our rushes per attempt was horrible, 1.9 yards average, we still kept running the ball. Of course taking a knee affects these numbers but just take a look at that. Half our plays were pass, half were run. Even though the run wasn't working too well, McVay kept the Colts off balance with a good mix of run and pass.

After the first two offensive series I was worried and thought we were watching Fisher ball again. Then McVay adjusted. In game time, not at halftime.

I for one am truly excited for our team and this season. I think our coaching staff is just what the doctor ordered.

Kenny Britt could lose starting job after Sunday’s performance

By Charean Williams
Sep 11, 2017, 1:49 PM PDT

Kenny Britt did not get a vote of confidence after a rough debut with the Browns. After Britt dropped a fourth-quarter pass, coach Hue Jackson wouldn’t guarantee the receiver will hold onto his starting job this week.

“Let’s see where we go this week,” Jackson said, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “Let’s see what we’re doing this week. Let’s find out. You’re saying he’s starting this week. We don’t know that. So let’s see where we are this week and go from there.”

Britt didn’t start Sunday but only because the Browns opened in a three tight end formation. He did play 52 of 66 offensive snaps but had only one catch, on three targets, for 13 yards and had the crucial drop.

“Obviously, he dropped the ball,” Jackson said. “You have to play better. It’s just that simple.”

The Browns signed Britt to a four-year, $32 million deal in the offseason to replace Terrelle Pryor. Now, Ricardo Louis, who caught two passes for 32 yards, could replace Britt as the team’s No. 2 receiver.
