PFT’s Week Four picks: Rams lose

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/

PFT’s Week Four picks
Posted by Michael David Smith

Through three weeks, it’s a tie. It won’t be a tie (barring a tie) after Week Four; MDS and yours truly disagree on five total games this week, the most of the year by far.

MDS got nine of 16 right last week, which isn’t great but better than me. We’ll see who does better in Week Four. We both sure as hell need to.

For all of our Week Four picks (money-back guarantee per usual), scroll along.

Rams at Cowboys

MDS’s take: This is probably the hardest game on the board for me to pick. Based only on what’s happened this season, the Rams are the better team. And yet I’m not sure I’m ready to pick the Rams to win this kind of road game just yet. I’ll take the Cowboys.

MDS’s pick: Cowboys 20, Rams 17.

Florio’s take: The Rams looked great last Thursday and they’ve had extra time to get ready, but the Cowboys have a better-than-expected defense, and quarterback Dak Prescott is putting the offense on his back.

Florio’s pick :poop:: Cowboys 27, Rams 20.
---------
Peter King picked the Rams, so there's that. :)

------------
Bears at Packers

MDS’s take: The Bears turned in a good performance in a win over the Steelers. I won’t be surprised if they make it two good performances in a row, but I think they’re going to fall short in a closer-than-expected game.

MDS’s pick: Packers 23, Bears 20.

Florio’s take: This game got a lot more interesting when the Bears beat the Steelers. But even with so many Packers players injured, It’s hard to imagine a team led by Aaron Rodgers losing to a team led by Mike Glennon.

Florio’s pick: Packers 24, Bears 17.

--------
Saints at Dolphins

MDS’s take: I don’t know what to think of the Saints after their defense looked like the worst in history in the first two weeks of the season but then rebounded nicely in Week Three. I think they might be able to give Jay Cutler just enough trouble to win a close one.

MDS’s pick: Saints 28, Dolphins 24.

Florio’s take: The team with a “garbage” offense in Week Two will play better than rubbish in England. Will that be enough to overcome a team with a largely nonexistent defense? If not, it could be a sewage season for the Dolphins.

Florio’s pick: Dolphins 30, Saints 27.
--------
Titans at Texans

MDS’s take: Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is showing promise two starts into his career, but I think he’s going to cough up a couple turnovers and the Titans will win this one handily.

MDS’s pick: Titans 24, Texans 13.

Florio’s take: With Marcus Mariota and Deshaun Watson leading the two teams, this could be the first chapter in a compelling twice-per-year series. Given that the Jaguars thumped the Texans and the Titans thumped the Jaguars, it would be fitting if the Texans to complete the round robin by putting each team at 1-1.

Florio’s pick: Texans 24, Titans 21.
-------
Jaguars at Jets

MDS’s take: These teams both looked a lot better than I was expecting last week. But I don’t expect to say that about the Jets very often this year. I’ll take the Jaguars to keep it going.

MDS’s pick: Jaguars 21, Jets 10.

Florio’s take: It’s a rare trap game for the team that for most of the last decade has been the trap game.

Florio’s pick: Jaguars 31, Jets 17.
------
Panthers at Patriots

MDS’s take: The Patriots’ defense has been awful this year, but the Panthers’ offense has been pretty rough too. New England should take this one without too much trouble.

MDS’s pick: Patriots 30, Panthers 17.

Florio’s take: Bill Belichick apparently thinks he’s facing the Cam Newton of 2015, not the Cam Newton of 2017. Then again, Bill Belichick has the Patriots defense of 2017. Fortunately he also has the Tom Brady of 2001-present.

Florio’s pick: Patriots 27, Panthers 17.
--------
Lions at Vikings

MDS’s take: At the time I’m making these picks I don’t know if it’s going to be Sam Bradford or Case Keenum under center for the Vikings, but I’ll take the Lions’ defense to force a few turnovers and win a big NFC North game.

MDS’s pick: Lions 28, Vikings 20.

Florio’s take: The two games between these two teams essentially determined a playoff spot last year, with the Lions sweeping the series and earning a wild-card berth. Expect another hard-fought game with the Vikings using home-field advantage, a loud crowd, a resurgent defense, and Dalvin Cook to get over the top, even if by only a thin margin.

Florio’s pick: Vikings 21, Lions 20.
--------
Bills at Falcons

MDS’s take: The Falcons are 3-0 but they’re a dropped touchdown pass in Chicago and an overturned touchdown pass in Detroit from being 1-2. If this game were in Buffalo I’d take the Bills, but I’ll pick Atlanta to win a close one at home.

MDS’s pick: Falcons 24, Bills 21.

Florio’s take: The Bills have been playing better than expected, and the Falcons could easily be 1-2. But they performed well in their new stadium, and they’re back for their second regular-season game there. The Julio Jones back injury could be a problem, but if he plays this one ends up being not necessarily easy but nevertheless a fourth win.

Florio’s pick: Falcons 27, Bills 17.
--------
Steelers at Ravens

MDS’s take: This rivalry game loses a little luster after both teams laid an egg last week. I think the Ravens’ defense will get back on track and beat the Steelers.

MDS’s pick: Ravens 17, Steelers 14.

Florio’s take: The Steelers have a bad habit of laying eggs on the road. The Ravens, reeling from an embarrassment on both side of the ball in London, aren’t about to let that happen again. Ultimately, the home team gets the edge in one of the best rivalries in football.

Florio’s pick: Ravens 16, Steelers 13.
--------
Bengals at Browns

MDS’s take: The Bengals’ offense showed signs of life after making a coordinator change, and I think they should put plenty of points on the board in Cleveland.

MDS’s pick: Bengals 31, Browns 17.

Florio’s take: The Battle for Ohio is once again the sink to the bottom. The Bengals have found the end zone, neither has found the victory column, and the road team simply has more talent — if they use it properly.

Florio’s pick: Bengals 24, Browns 20.
--------
Eagles at Chargers

MDS’s take: The Chargers are a better team than their 0-3 record suggests. They’ll get their first win on Sunday.

MDS’s pick: Chargers 27, Eagles 20.

Florio’s take: The 0-3 Chargers aren’t as bad as their record indicates, and the 2-1 Eagles aren’t as good as theirs suggests. With a trip to face the Giants followed by games against the Raiders, Broncos, and Patriots, this could be L.A.’s B team’s best chance to win a game before the bye.

Florio’s pick: Chargers 30, Eagles 24.
--------
Giants at Buccaneers

MDS’s take: The Giants have been perhaps this season’s most disappointing team. I don’t know when they’ll get their first win, but it won’t be Sunday in Tampa.

MDS’s pick: Buccaneers 30, Giants 20.

Florio’s take: The Tampa Bay defense is littered with injuries, and the Giants desperately need to turn the page on three straight losses. Throw in a young quarterback with a penchant for trying too hard to make a difference and a defense that will cause him to make mistakes, it’s time for the Giants to get a W.

Florio’s pick: Giants 23, Buccaneers 20.
------
49ers at Cardinals

MDS’s take: The 49ers are running the ball well, and they could keep this one close because of that. But I ultimately think the Cardinals have too much firepower for the 49ers’ defense.

MDS’s pick: Cardinals 27, 49ers 21.

Florio’s take: Short week for the home team meets extra time for the 49ers, who have to feel better about themselves are taking the Rams to the limit. It’s time for Kyle Shanahan to get his first career win.

Florio’s pick: 49ers 27, Cardinals 23.
-------
Raiders at Broncos

MDS’s take: In a close game that could go either way, I like the Broncos to win at home and drop the Raiders into third place in the AFC West.

MDS’s pick: Broncos 17, Raiders 14.

Florio’s take: Both teams were force fed large slice of humble pie in Week Three. The Broncos seem to have the defense to keep the Oakland offense in check. If Trevor Siemian can better protect the ball, the Broncos should knock the Raiders to third place in the division.

Florio’s pick: Broncos 20, Raiders 17.
---------
Colts at Seahawks

MDS’s take: The Seahawks have not played well this season, but the Colts coming to town is just what they need.

MDS’s pick: Seahawks 31, Colts 13.

Florio’s take: It’s desperation time in Seattle, and the Seahawks seem to thrive in that context. Of course, if they want to experience real desperation, losing to the Colts will make that happen.

Florio’s pick: Seahawks 17, Colts 13.
--------
Redskins at Chiefs

MDS’s take: The Chiefs’ offense is rolling, and I just don’t think Washington can keep up.

MDS’s pick: Chiefs 35, Washington 20.

Florio’s take: Washington’s win over the Raiders makes this game better, but the Chiefs continue to be the better team on both sides of the ball. For entertainment purposes, here’s hoping it won’t get ugly. But it definitely could.

Florio’s pick: Chiefs 27, Washington 17.

Rams running back Todd Gurley followed up a strong rookie season with a less successful 2016 campaign, but it looks like the rollercoaster is headed back up in 2017.

Gurley became the first player since Calvin Johnson in 2011 to score six touchdowns in the first three games of the season when he scored three times in last Thursday’s victory over the 49ers. Gurley also ran for 113 yards in that game, marking his first time over 100 yards on the ground since that rookie season.

The strong start to the year has made Gurley the choice as the NFC offensive player of the month for September.

Gurley ran 63 times for 241 yards and four touchdowns while also catching 13 passes for 140 yards and two scores as the Rams opened the year with two wins in their first three games. He’ll try to get October off to a good start against the Cowboys this Sunday.

Vinny On Rams OL Turnaround

http:www.ocregister.com/217/09/27/bonsignore-offensive-lines-turnaround
keyed-everything-for-the-rams/

Vinny didn't mention how the Rams OL just plain got "schooled". No real veteran leadership to teach the youngsters the "tricks of the trade." Coach Boo assumed they all were taught proper technique in college,

Watching the OL play last season was painful. Barnes getting pushed back in the pocket every snap, Gurley fighting a defensive lineman for the handoff,Goff with hands in his face every time he goes to throw.

This years OL has just 3 games under its belt, but the improvement is huge. They have yet to get real "continuity", but they're getting there.

Sunday they need to play their best game yet if they want any real respectablility from the ret of the league. All they need is to play a competitive game.

Practice Report: A Rich History with Dallas, Keeping the Momentum Going

Practice Report: A Rich History with Dallas, Keeping the Momentum Going

The Rams held a non-padded session on Wednesday afternoon at Cal Lutheran, kicking off their practice week for the Cowboys. The team will be on the road once again in Week 4, travelling to AT&T Stadium for Sunday’s matchup.

INJURY REPORT

After practice the Rams released their first injury report of the week. Eight players were listed on the release, including left tackle Andrew Whitworth and outside linebacker Connor Barwin. Both were held out of Wednesday’s session for rest, as part of the team’s “maintenance program” meant to keep many of the veteran players healthy for game action.

Wide receivers Tavon Austin and Sammy Watkins (concussion) both returned to the field, but were limited participants. Both wideouts were placed in the concussion protocol following last Thursday’s game.

Also returning to practice on Wednesday were running back Malcolm Brown and cornerback Kayvon Webster. Webster has been inactive for the past two games after injuring his shoulder in the season opener against the Colts, while Brown was held out of Week 3’s contest against the 49ers after injuring his hamstring the previous week.

Safety Lamarcus Joyner and center John Sullivan did not take the field on Wednesday afternoon as they continue to rehab a hamstring injury and groin injury, respectively.

KEEPING THE COWBOYS ON THEIR TOES

Entering Week 4, the Rams have been sported one of the best offenses in the league. The club currently ranks No. 1 with a whopping 107 points in three games. The team also holds sole possession of the top spot in the NFC West.

Not only are the Rams putting points on the board, but they are also doing it in style. Last week, quarterback Jared Goff recorded one of the best performances of his career, completing 22-of-28 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns. He was also able to distribute the ball to a variety of different targets and the offense as a whole showed efficiency on the ground and in the passing game.

Also on Thursday night, running back Todd Gurley recorded his first 100-yard rushing game since 2015, while wide receivers Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods both topped 100 receiving yards. It was the first time the Rams have had two players with at least 100 yards receiving since 2006.

When asked on Wednesday what makes the offense run so efficiently, Woods said, “everything” — alluding to the team’s ability to combine the passing game with the ground game along with their consistency in first-down situations.

“The offense, the scheme and the plan of the offense to spread the ball around and get guys going,” Woods said. “Being out there, you see defenses just running the wrong way at times [because] our offense is keeping defenses on edge and I think it shows. It’s showing in our play and our offensive play.”

This week against the Cowboys, the Rams will need to keep the defense on its toes once again. Though the Dallas secondary is young, featuring rookie safety Xavier Woods and cornerback Jourdan Lewis, Woods readily acknowledged the physicality of the Cowboys’ defense as a whole.

“[They’re] a good defense, we see them flying around,” he said. “A fast defense. They’re able to just disguise and you see them they play solid and fly to the ball. [Just] a fast group of guys that like to attack the quarterback and attack the ball.”

And although the team is riding high after a gritty win over the 49ers, the Rams know that there is still much to improve.

“We just turn on the tape and yeah you see the good plays, but you also see the bad ones. It’s early and it’s no time to get fat and happy, it’s only time to keep grinding and keep getting better,” right guard Jamon Brown said. “The main focus for us this year is to take it one [game] at a time. We’re not really judging off last year, but we’re trying to control what we can control this year.”

A RICH HISTORY AGAINST DALLAS

The Rams and the Cowboys have a long history of playing against each other, with the series dating back to 1960 when the teams first met. In that year, the Rams were entering their 23rd season in the NFL while the Cowboys were entering their first. In 1960 the Rams would finish ahead of just one team in the Western Conference — The Dallas Cowboys.

From that year on, many Rams and Cowboys greats have graced the field as part of the rivalry including Hall of Famers Roger Staubach, Jack Youngblood, and Eric Dickerson.

And though the two teams have not met in the regular season since 2014, they have faced off in the preseason in each of the last two years.

After practice on Wednesday, McVay told reporters he had an immense “appreciation for what’s taken place before I was fortunate to get into this league,” and said he was very familiar with the history between both teams.

“I’ve always been a fan of the game,” McVay said. “I think one of the things that our guys have done a great job with and really, you go to our alumni association embracing the past and you do some different things where I think that’s what’s so special about this game, is appreciating the guys that have done it before these players and made the Rams what they are.”

“Then you also appreciate the rivalries that existed going back to the ‘70s,” he continued. “But, I think that embracing that history is part of it, I think it’s also important to know that this is a storied franchise on both ends and we’ve got a great challenge. Like I’ve said over and over, what Coach Jason Garrett’s done with his team, it’s going to be a great challenge and an excellent atmosphere and I know our guys are looking forward to it.”

Hugh Hefner has passed away at the age of 91

http://www.thewrap.com/hugh-hefner-playboy-founder-dies-91/

hugh-hefner.jpg

Playboy founder and icon Hugh Hefner died on Wednesday evening at 91, a spokesperson for the men’s magazine said.

Hefner passed of natural causes at his home, the famed Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles, surrounded by loved ones.

“My father lived an exceptional and impactful life as a media and cultural pioneer and a leading voice behind some of the most significant social and cultural movements of our time,” his son and current Playboy Chief Creative Officer Cooper Hefner said in a statement.

“He will be greatly missed by many, including his wife Crystal, my sister Christie and my brothers David and Marston, and all of us at Playboy Enterprises,” Cooper added.

Playboy began on Hefner’s kitchen table 64 years ago, his official obit says, and spawned a branded empire that encompasses print and digital publications, merchandise and other portfolio companies.

“By putting up his furniture as collateral for a loan and borrowing the rest from family and friends, Mr. Hefner published the very first issue of Playboy in December of 1953. It was an instant sensation,” Hefner’s bio reads.

A symbol of progressive (and excessive) sexual liberation, Playboy was a hotbed of star writers during the heyday of magazine journalism — a place where nudes existed beside essays and profiles from Ray Bradbury, John Updike, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Margaret Atwood, Jack Kerouac and Kurt Vonnegut.

More to come. Read the full release from Playboy …

Hugh M. Hefner, the American icon who in 1953 introduced the world to Playboy magazine and built the company into one of the most recognizable American global brands in history, peacefully passed away today from natural causes at his home, The Playboy Mansion, surrounded by loved ones. He was 91 years old.

Starting from his kitchen table 64 years ago, Mr. Hefner’s uncompromising vision drove the creation of not just the iconic and groundbreaking magazine, but what has become one of the world’s most enduring and recognizable brands. In the process, Playboy became the largest-selling and most influential men’s magazine in the world, spawning a number of successful global businesses. To this day, the magazine is published in more than 20 countries around the world and products featuring the company’s trademarks drive more than $1 billion in sales annually.

“My father lived an exceptional and impactful life as a media and cultural pioneer and a leading voice behind some of the most significant social and cultural movements of our time in advocating free speech, civil rights and sexual freedom. He defined a lifestyle and ethos that lie at the heart of the Playboy brand, one of the most recognizable and enduring in history. He will be greatly missed by many, including his wife Crystal, my sister Christie and my brothers David and Marston, and all of us at Playboy Enterprises,” said Cooper Hefner, Chief Creative Officer of Playboy Enterprises.

After serving in the Army, attending college and working for number of years in the magazine publishing industry, Mr. Hefner became convinced that there was a market for an upscale men’s magazine. By putting up his furniture as collateral for a loan and borrowing the rest from family and friends, Mr. Hefner published the very first issue of Playboy in December of 1953. The magazine was an instant sensation.

From the very start, Playboy was about more than just the beautiful women featured in its pages. Mr. Hefner took a progressive approach not only to sexuality and humor, but also to literature, politics and culture. Within its pages, Playboy published fiction by such writers as Ray Bradbury, Charles Beaumont, John Updike, Ian Fleming, Joseph Heller, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Margaret Atwood, Jack Kerouac and Kurt Vonnegut.

The now standard-setting “Playboy Interview” debuted in 1962 when frequent contributor Alex Haley interviewed jazz legend Miles Davis. Mr. Haley’s Playboy interviews, which are still important reads for cultural historians, also included Malcolm X (1963), Martin Luther King (1965), and perhaps most famously, George Lincoln Rockwell (1966), the founder of the American Nazi Party.

As the host of a television series, “Playboy’s Penthouse,” Mr. Hefner paved the way as the first televised program to feature mixed groups of African American and white performers and audience members together. He also fought against the racist Jim Crow laws in the South by integrating Playboy Clubs in Miami and New Orleans.

When the U.S. Post Office refused to deliver Playboy to subscribers through the mail, he fought all the way to the Supreme Court, winning a landmark decision which was widely considered a victory for free speech. He fought the country’s archaic “sodomy laws,” firmly believing that the government had no place in American bedrooms. His work in this area has been recognized as influential by historians of the gay rights movement.

In 1980, Mr. Hefner championed the reconstruction of the Hollywood sign and was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his efforts. In the shadow of the sign that he helped to preserve, Mr. Hefner stages the annual Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, an event which is in its 39th year.

This year, a 10-episode docudrama series on Mr. Hefner’s life, entitled American Playboy, appeared on Amazon.

Sammy Watkins (concussion) was limited at Wednesday's practice.

He suffered a concussion in last week's win over the 49ers. Practicing in any capacity is a step in the right direction, though Watkins must pass the concussion protocol before he's cleared for Sunday's game in Dallas. He'll be a WR3 if he suits up. Sep 27 - 7:05 PM

McVay says Watkins and Austin were limited today. Webster and Brown were back. Barwin and Whitworth was off today (rest)

Robert Woods has found what he was looking for in the Rams' offense

ttp://www.latimes.com/sports/rams/la-sp-rams-report-20170926-story.html

This is exactly what Robert Woods envisioned when he signed with the Rams in March. In four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Woods eclipsed 100 yards receiving only three times in 57 games. It took him three games to do it for the first time in coach Sean McVay’s offense with the Rams. Woods caught six passes for a team-best 108 yards in last week’s 41-39 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

The former USC All-American this week gave credit to quarterback Jared Goff, fellow 100-yard receiver Sammy Watkins and others.“Kind of the standard for our room,” he said of the receivers. “Just keep it going, and hopefully, that’s how our offense clicks.” Woods has 10 receptions for 169 yards going into Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.

The main reason Woods signed with the Rams: $15 million in guarantees he received as part of the five-year contract. But the opportunity to play in McVay’s receiver-friendly offense was a close second. The Rams have scored an NFL-best 35.7 points per game en route to a 2-1 record and first place in the NFC West. They are seventh in total offense, averaging 374.3 yards per game.

Woods credits McVay’s scheme and play-calling — especially the effective use of play-action fakes and passes — for confusing defenses.“Throughout the game, you just have a sense of, ‘They don’t know what we’re doing,’ ” he said, adding, “When you’re running a route and you see guys running the opposite way, it’s a good feeling.”

The Rams pursued Woods during the offseason for his skill-set but also for his work ethic and locker-room presence.McVay sought such veterans as Woods and offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth to influence younger players and to provide an example.Woods caught three passes in the season-opening victory over Indianapolis, but had only one catch on four targets in a loss against the Washington Redskins.

Against the 49ers, Woods made a big play when he leaped to collect a 31-yard pass along the sideline after Goff escaped the pocket.“I just ran my route,” he said. “Jared kept his eyes downfield and was able to deliver the ball in a spot where the defender couldn’t get it.”Later in the game, Woods ran a slant route over the middle for a 13-yard gain before an especially violent collision with 49ers defensive back Jimmie Ward, who was penalized for a personal foul.

“It was a good shot, a good hit, that’s part of the game,” said Woods, who immediately leaped to his feet. “Don’t let them see you feel it and just pop right up.“He definitely got me, but you just can’t let him know.”
Watkins also caught six passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns. The former Bills teammates combined to give the Rams two 100-yard receivers in a game for the first time since 2006.With running back Todd Gurley running and catching passes and young receivers and tight ends also making plays, Woods said there was more to come individually and collectively from the offense.“We’re putting up a lot of points,” he said, “but when I say more to come that is just consistency."

Sean McVay Has The LA Rams’ Offense Rolling

Per Football Outsiders’ Drive Stats, Sean McVay Has The LA Rams’ Offense Rolling
By now, you’ve probably heard the news. Sean McVay appears to have helped the Los Angeles Rams’ offense make a quick about-face, and they’re putting up points on offense...lots of them.

But just how well does the offense stack up against others in the NFL? And how much better are they compared to last year? Over at Football Outsiders, Jim Armstrong updates NFL Drive Stats on a weekly basis, and it’s fair to say the early results (through Week 3) point to the Rams being a legitimate threat when the offense is on the field.

Let’s take a closer look at each metric for the Rams’ 32 offensive drives, their ranking for each, and if they’ve improved over 2016 averages. Hint: they have.

If we line up with our corners 10 yds off the LOS I'm gonna scream loud enough that Marinelli will hear me.
----------
Gotta spank the Rams. Move the pocket and let Dak do what he does.
---------
Rams have a good D though and they scored 40+ points last week, albeit against the 49ers, but still...
--------
Yeah, Niners scored how much against this good D?
--------
Rams will be tricky, but it will be much easier after bringing that W back to Arlington with us. Scandy will have his work cut out for him against Watkins. I like the 6 DB's I think it suits us against the pass more than anything else Ive seen in the last couple of years.
-------
they've scored over 40 twice this season but against two of the worst teams in the league so there's that. Not sure what to think of this Rams team coming in. They've always been wildly inconsistent and pull off their big wins at home (unless it's Seattle) so I think this will be a comfortable win.

I don't see them turning the corner and beating good teams on the road just yet. And for Dallas, this is as much of a must win as it gets with how brutal the rest of our schedule is.
---------
We barely beat the cards, Dak had to scramble for his life because the passing plays are outright horrid.

Second half we run the ball a bit better, and didn't abandon the rush playcalling...

i think this game will all come down to play calling ... if linehan is pass happy ... its over. we lose.
-------
It will depend on what Todd gurley and what cowboys defense shows up
-------
Honestly , I don't think the cowboys should underestimate anyone right now.
They will likely have to fight tooth and nail for every win
-------
We can win these next two games. Neither Team is unbeatable. We may be looking at 5-1 going into our bye week. As always I expect a tough contests. But I still love what Marinelli is getting out of this Defense. I'm still not gonna give props to JG or Linehan because I believe we are still underutilizing the talent we have on Offense.

And even though our Defense seems to start off slow they come on strong as the game goes on. That my friends is Coaching! I do think we can beat the Rams and in so doing build more confidence moving forward.
---------
These Rams aren't last seasons Rams. I'm not taking them lightly. Home field advantage should get the W.
----------
Broken record but another tough game on tap. Goff is finally looking like the #1 overall pick and Gurley is starting to catch. Going to need a big day from Dak and the D again
---------
Yeah I want our Boys well prepared for this one and not looking ahead to the following week at home against the Packers. The Rams can move the ball as shown last Thursday
----------
In three games they've score a total of 3 points in the first quarter. Offense needs to come out firing and in attack mode from the start. Get a lead and then let the running game and playaction passing take over.
---------
I'll be there and I'll be rowdy. Excited to see Goff and Gurley also.
---------
its not time for us to look at the opponent or their record. We're not good enough to overlook anyone. We must commit to stopping the run and shutting down watkins... Its going to be a good test on our db to stop the pass and limit their big play ability.

On offense we need to keep the defense off balance and we need to finish our blocks....I'm glad we won our last game but we missed so many blocks its not even funny. I know we're better than what we showed the first couple games but its on the coaches and the team to show we can play a complete 60 min.
---------
Get by the Rams and getting Irving back and then playing the Pack, I could see 4--1 going into the bye week.
-------
the rams are better than I thought they'd be....as long as we execute,I think we can and will handle them.

In our history,we've encountered some unforseen road bumps when we've played the rams....some tough play-off loses in 70s and 80s come to mind...but I think we are better in each area than they are.

35-10...Cowboys Win.

the HAMS allowed 39 points on their D by san fran

----------
Gotta get to Goff early and break his confidence. Need to get at least one turnover this game, and convert at least 50% of third down opportunities

Todd Gurley: 'We're gonna whoop up' on Cowboys

I know we are even 24 hours removed from this win vs Arz but since Girly wants to puff out his chest I thought I would give his words a stage. LOL

Fresh off a monstrous, 113-yard, three-touchdown performance against the 49ers, Rams running back Todd Gurley was feeling good.

Good enough to let NFL Network analyst Michael Irvin know on the set of Thursday Night Football that the Cowboys were in trouble next week when Los Angeles heads to AT&T Stadium in Dallas.

"Like I said, we're taking it game by game and just focusing on the future right now, man. Next week, we've got Dallas. We've got a little break. So we're gonna whoop up on your 'Boys," Gurley said, laughing, after the Rams' 41-39 victory.

I'm assuming that this will be viewed by many as an inconsistent star player puffing out his chest after wins over the Colts (0-2) and 49ers (0-3) to start the season, but I'm all for a little bit of peacocking right now.

This team was trapped in a cycle of ineffective offensive coordinators during the Jeff Fisher era and, while the Sean McVay era will eventually hit its rocky patches, this Rams team deserves to enjoy themselves a little bit before the meatier portion of their schedule hits

They might. They have 10 days rest, and Cowboys have a short week coming back from a road trip. Not to mention Dallas has played 3 extremely physical games and I think I saw that both Lewis and Lee tweaked their hamstrings.

I am not taking this Rams team lightly considering their front 4, and more efficient offense under McVay.
--------
I don't take any team lightly either. I think Cowboys back at home and a Rams defense who is not great vs the run could be what Zeke and the OL need to get things rolling.
---------
Any given Sunday. Don't rest on the Rams. Take it to them and destroy Girlie.
---------
Yeah let's try that old... sell out to stop the run and try and make QB beat ya ;-)
--------
Well Rams are in 1st place by themselves so no reason Cowboys should take them lightly.
---------
Regardless of what TG says, this team and others here should not take the Rams lightly. The biggest mistake anyone could make is underestimating an opponent.

The rams are a different team entirely without Jeff fisher.
-------
I doubt the Cowboys are taking the Rams lightly.

But I think you're going to see this offense take it up a notch.

I think Dak is ready to play his game now. I think he understands he can't just stay in the pocket but has to move around and even run a little more, calculated runs.

I think it has also taken the offensive line a few games to find itself and gel with Collins being the new guy.

I think we're ready to roll.

Cowboys 34
Rams 20

Dude the rams have been accumulating high picks year after year after year. Sometimes multiple picks per year.

It all comes down to the QB and he seems like he's putting it together in yr 2 under McVay.

This is a dangerous team because we don't really know what to expect when you have a load of talent under new direction playing with house money.
