Good Radio Talk About Rams v Hawks

Sorry to create a thread for this but I didn't see a thread where it wouldn't get buried. You know how unsatisfied I am with LA Ram coverage on LA radio stations like the "Rams" station, ESPNLA. Even now with the Rams at 3-1 and facing a divisional rival on Sunday, there is barely 5-10 minutes in an hour, compared to 40 minutes about LeBrawn James (not even an LA player) or general NBA news...

Anyway, the OTHER 710 ESPN in Seattle has almost wall to wall coverage about the game, and it hasn't been all that homer-ific. You can find and listen to the station live at http://sports.mynorthwest.com/
or on the TuneIn app......

It's just so striking how little the Rams matter on LA radio.

Week 5 Score Prediction Contest... Seattle @ LA Rams

Before we begin, a moment of silence for those who lost their lives in the horrible shooting in Las Vegas this past week.

Now on to the matter at hand. Its SHEATTLE week here at ROD and time for the weekly score prediction thread. The mighty LA Rams went down to the Big D and came out with a big W putting them at 3-1 for the season, while the Seahags managed to win against the Colts with a big 2nd half.

So lets get down to business. Stop off at your local Starfucks, grab a muchogrande whatever the hell they call coffee, and get those score predictions in.

The person who post the closest prediction to the final score, including the correct winner, will win $10,000 RODollars. Nail the exact winning score and win $25,000.

Remember, in case of a tie, the prize goes to person who posted first. All exact winners will split the prize.

And I promise this week I will wait until I am sober before picking out the winner, unlike the last 2 weeks.

It has to start at the top.
I am willing to bet, players respect the hell out of a coach

Obviously, we're all pleasantly surprised by the offense and it's productivity.

But questions remain about the defense. Switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4 can be difficult - especially if your personnel was selected for a 4-3. Phillips has a track record of turning things around... but can it be done as quickly as first year? Was that second half in DAL the start of a trend... or an aberration?

Will the opposing defensive coordinators figure out a way to slow down the offense?

How do you feel about depth (should the injury bug hit the Rams)?

So, let's roll all that together and take a poll...

How confident are you that the Rams can sustain this early success? Extrapolated out, the current success rate works out to 12-4. Maybe a tall order... but 10-6? That should get them into the playoffs.

article: Pharoh Cooper=best kick returner in NFL this season

I guess based on numbers but his one fumble and several ill advised returns have also cost the team. But I guess he is getting it done the other times. Needs to make smarter choices though.

http://theramswire.usatoday.com/2017/10/04/nfl-los-angeles-rams-pharoh-cooper-kickoff-return-stats/

There’s been no shortage of superlatives for the Los Angeles Rams this season. They have the league’s best offense, one of the top coaches and an elite running back who’s second in yards from scrimmage.

You probably knew all of that, but you may not have realized the Rams also have the NFL’s best kickoff returner.

pharohcooperpregame.jpg

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Pharoh Cooper has quietly had a very strong season returning kicks this season despite not taking one back for a touchdown. Through four games, Cooper leads the league in just about every relevant kick return category.

He’s No. 1 in attempts (11), yards (300), average (27.3), longest return (66 yards) and returns of at least 20 yards (nine).

Surprisingly, no player in the NFL has returned a kickoff for a touchdown yet this season, and only one punt has been taken back to the house. This is the direct result of the NFL continuously trying to phase out kickoffs, which has resulted in fewer kicks being taken out of the end zone.

Cooper does have one fumble this season, but that hasn’t overshadowed how great he’s been returning kickoffs. He was a big part of the Rams’ win on Sunday, too. His 66-yard return set up a field goal by Greg Zuerlein to pull Los Angeles within four points.

Tavon Austin has been shaky, but the Rams’ special teams have been fantastic this season.

BSPN insiders not buying into Rams

Shocking I tell you. Guess these guys haven't watched any games. Guess if they can't rip on Goff and the Rams, it's no longer fun for them. Also I like how Washington at home and at Dallas are considered part of the Rams' cupcake schedule. Thought Dallas had won 8 straight at home and were back after their MNF win. Now they stink. Also, haven't Arizona and Seattle both played Indy and SF as well?

Rams game to air on CBS now in LA (originally KCAL9)

Looks like CBS said F the rules and moved the chargers game to kcal 9.

For those unaware of the tv situation, chargers had to play on my kcop 13 this weekend since fox owned the rights to both of our games. Fox kept the rams on fox 11 due to them being the “road” team, supposedly an nfl rule.

This weekend the opposite situation occurs with CBS having the rights to both games. The rams were scheduled to be on kcal 9 (I had already set a dvr recording) but have now moved to CBS 2.

Another round lost for the chargers in the fight for la.

Rams running back Todd Gurley was the NFC’s offensive player of the month for September and his first October outing showed no sign that he’ll be slowing down.

Gurley ran the ball 23 times for 121 yards and caught seven passes for 94 yards, including a 53-yard touchdown, in the Rams’ 35-30 victory over the Cowboys. He has been named the NFC’s offensive player of the week in recognition of those efforts.

Gurley’s touchdown was his seventh on the year, which is the most in the league through the first four weeks, and he ranks second in the league in rushing behind Kareem Hunt of the Chiefs. Gurley is also one of three players in NFL history with at least 575 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns in the first four games of a season.

Those numbers mark a major rebound from his poor 2016 season and a big reason why the Rams have opened the year with three wins in their first four games.

The Rams offense put up 35 points against the Cowboys last Sunday, but they only got the ball in the end zone twice.

That means there was a lot for kicker Greg Zuerlein to do over the course of the 35-30 win. Zuerlein delivered every time.

Zuerlein hit all seven field goals he tried and added a pair of extra points to account for 23 of the team’s points and continue his perfect start to the 2017 season. Zuerlein has now made 14-of-14 field goals and 14-of-14 extra points for the 3-1 Rams and his most recent outing was determined good enough for the league to make him the NFC special teams player of the week.

It’s the fourth time that Zuerlein has won weekly honors during his career and he joined running back Todd Gurley as winners of a weekly award for the Rams on Wednesday.

Traveling to LA for a Game

So I come home from work today and my wife is asking if I'd be able to get the 27th of November off.

My birthday is the 30th.

Anyhow, push comes to shove she wants to get tickets to go see the Rams vs Saints game.

She asked me to make this thread ( I talk about the great community we have here constantly).

She want recommendations on stay in LA. ETC ETC ETC. We also briefly discussed flying into Vegas and then driving a rental. We live in Utah so we also have the option of just driving ourselves.

Any and all suggestions I would love to have.

I spend a ridiculous amount of time on here discussing the Rams with you fellow fans. I think I'll share this with my wife and encourage her to create an account. When I first met her she knew nothing about football, but now she sits there and understands what is going on with the game.

Let it rip LA natives.

Offensive Lines of the Week (4)

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...of-the-week-eagles-front-dominates-all-phases
EDITOR'S NOTE: The rankings that you see below reflect O'Hara's pecking order for Week 4 and Week 4 alone. This is NOT a running O-line Power Rankings for 2017. This is NOT a projection into the future. The goal of this weekly column is to answer one simple question: Which five offensive lines stood out above the rest in last week's action?

Without further ado, the Week 4 winner is ...

1) Philadelphia Eagles
After going 1-7 on the road in 2016, the Eagles are finding success away from Philadelphia. A dominant offensive line performance at the StubHub Center on Sunday improved Philly to 2-1 on the road (3-1 overall).

The Eagles, who now sit alone atop the NFC East, have committed to running the ball since logging a season-low 17 rushes in the Week 2 loss at Kansas City. In Sunday's 26-24 victory over the Chargers -- who, admittedly, lacked a home-field advantage -- Philadelphia had a season-high 42 runs for 214 yards. LeGarrette Blount led the way with 16 carries for 136 yards, including a beastly 68-yard scamper early in the fourth quarter. While that run certainly helped his average -- which ended up at a robust 8.5 yards per carry -- Blount's offensive line deserves plenty of credit, as Philly boasted the top-ranked run-blocking unit in Week 4, according to Pro Football Focus.

The O-line didn't just shine in the ground game, either, ranking as PFF's fourth-best pass-blocking unit in Week 4. The Eagles' front five allowed one quarterback hit and three hurries, but didn't give up a single sack in the game. Yes, Carson Wentz was sacked once, but it wasn't on the O-line. Philly's second-year quarterback continued to show improvement, finishing the game with 242 passing yards, one touchdown, no picks and a 91.1 passer rating. Offensive tackles Lane Johnson and Jason Peters were impressive in keeping Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa off Wentz. Left guard Stefen Wisniewski continues to play well for the Eagles when rotating with Chance Warmack. Lastly, center Jason Kelce and right guard Brandon Brooks also proved tough in the win.

The Eagles finished fifth in my Week 3 rankings, so this is no one-week uprising. With dominant line play on both sides of the ball, Philadelphia has built some momentum heading into the second quarter of the regular season.

The rest of the top five O-lines from Week 4
2) Los Angeles Rams: This 3-1 team is one of the true surprises of the young season. Averaging an NFL-high 35.5 points per game, Sean McVay's Rams have been a revelation. And on Sunday, they stormed Jerryworld and knocked off the Cowboys, 35-30. Dallas' offensive line entered this season as the envy of the league, but it was the Rams' unit that really made its mark on the game.

Los Angeles racked up 168 yards rushing, ranking as Pro Football Focus' second-best run-blocking unit. Todd Gurley, who has returned to stardom after a disastrous sophomore season, efficiently piled up 121 yards on 23 carries (5.3 yards a pop). Meanwhile, second-year signal caller Jared Goff continues to get time in the pocket. Sacked just once -- by current NFL sack king Demarcus Lawrence -- Goff threw for 255 yards and a pair of scores. Andrew Whitworth continues to play really well on the blind side for his new team.

3) Carolina Panthers: Going into New England is always spectacularly tough. Coming away with a win is even tougher. Carolina's offense just straight took it to the Patriots' reeling defense in the 33-30 triumph, producing 444 total yards while going 6-for-9 on third down and 3-for-5 in the red zone. The Panthers churned out 140 yards on the ground, with Jonathan Stewart accounting for 68 and Cam Newton 44. Newton, though, did most of his damage from the pocket, completing 22 of his 29 passes for 316 yards and three touchdowns (against one pick).

This was the MVP version of Cam we've been waiting to see in 2017 -- and it certainly helped that his offensive line came to play. Although Carolina yielded two sacks, the first was on Cam for running out of the pocket and not getting rid of the football. Pro Football Focus still had Carolina as the fifth-best pass-blocking unit on the week. Center Tyler Larsen, who's filling in for injured five-time Pro Bowler Ryan Kalil, deserves kudos for his fine play.

4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Bucs were able to come away with a 25-23 win over the Giants, despite three missed kicks (two fields goals and an extra point). What is it with this team's kicking woes? To his credit, Nick Folk did bounce back to nail the game winner as time expired. But the botched kicks led to a score that didn't reflect Tampa Bay's true offensive output.

The Bucs recorded a season-high 434 yards of total offense. Jacquizz Rodgers supplied 83 of Tampa's 111 rushing yards, but it was QB Jameis Winston who really made the difference with a fine bounce-back performance. After tossing three interceptions in Week 3, Winston torched Big Blue's secondary with 332 yards passing and three scores (against zero picks). The QB definitely owes his protectors a debt of gratitude. Tampa's O-line did not give up a single sack, allowing just one QB hit and six hurries. Pretty remarkable against the Giants' front. Yes, Olivier Vernon exited the game early, but let's give credit where credit is due. Bucs RT Demar Dotson really kept Jason Pierre-Paul at bay.

5) Seattle Seahawks: This offensive line has taken a whole lot of flak in recent years -- and deservedly so -- but the group did a fine job in the 46-18 win over Indianapolis on Sunday night, particularly in the second half. This game was tight into the third quarter, but then the 'Hawks exploded. Of Seattle's 477 total yards of offense, 337 came in the second half. And the Seahawks set a franchise record with 36 points after the break.

The O-line blew open holes for a number of rushers, as Seattle had five different ball carriers combine for 194 yards. And Seattle's hog mollies kept Russell Wilson nice and clean -- the O-line wasn't credited with a sack or even a single QB hit.

Barron and Tree have been great...in coverage

Alot of guys on here and myself have been disappointed by our 2 "small" linebackers so far this season . They have missed tackles and been over aggressive against the running game.
However they have been great in pass coverage and they shut down the middle of field against Dallas. How many catches did written have ?

Maybe this is wades plan ? If the d line can dominate like they did this week , it will allow these 2 to shut down the middle.
