Good Luck and Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day Recipes

anyone care to share some good recipes for Thanksgiving?

I have my home made cranberry sauce

2 bags whole cranberries
2 cups water
2 cups sugar
1/2 a fresh pineapple...diced
1 cup walnuts chopped
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground cloves

Bring water and sugar to a boil. Add cranberries and simmer until they pop open. Use a potato masher to crush cranberries. Stir in the rest of the ingredients and cool over night.

For some reason my in laws go nuts over this simple dish, and I have to bring it every damn holiday.

After 10 weeks we know what teams are.

I think it's pretty easy to assess "who is what" at this point in the season. Injuries can and will change things but as we sit today the last six games will probably fall out at 3-3 if they don't catch a break and 4-2 if they do.

I see them losing to the Saints, Eagles and possibly Seahawks. The Saints and Eagles are just a level higher than the Rams right now, they have more experience and that matters. SEA is winnable since their defense is a mess right now, but the sandlot passing plays that Wilson pulls off several times a game will challenge a depleted secondary.

The Titans have played a weak as hell schedule so that's certainly a W, and the 49ers and Cardinals shouldn't even present much of a challenge. I am sincerely hoping for another shutout in the AZ game because I really want to hear Arians post game presser. I think they are going to end up 5-11 and that suits me just fine. I'll stop totally hating them when Arians retires or is fired.

Randy Moss, Ray Lewis among Hall of Fame semifinalists for 2018
Posted by Charean Williams on November 21, 2017

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced the 27 semifinalists for the Class of 2018. It includes six first-year eligible candidates in defensive back Ronde Barber, guard Steve Hutchinson, linebackers Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher, wide receiver Randy Moss and defensive lineman Richard Seymour.

In addition, safety LeRoy Butler, defensive ends Leslie O’Neal and Simeon Rice and cornerback Everson Walls, although previously eligible for the Hall, are semifinalists for the first time. All other individuals on the 2018 list made the semifinal cut previously.

Hall of Fame bylaws call for 25 semifinalists plus all ties for the 25th spot.

The list includes 12 offensive players — but no quarterbacks — 13 defensive players and two coaches.

In January, selectors will reduce the list to 15 finalists, who will join seniors Robert Brazile and Jerry Kramer and contributor Bobby Beathard on the final ballot. The annual selection meeting will take place February 3, the day before Super Bowl LII.

Thoughts for next week against the Saints

Goff was actually under considerably more pressure last week than he has been this entire year. I think we should give GRob another chance. Bring him off the bench and see what he can do to uplift the line.

The pass rush hasn’t been as good as we are accustomed to. Chris Long also hasn’t done much this year...I understand he’s getting up there in age but he needs to be playing more. He’s been solid for us but I think if we give him more opportunities he’ll produce. He wants to win a ring with the Rams before he opts to retire or moves to another contending team.

Lastly, since Woods is out for a few weeks, we need to get Britt back starting. He had over 1000 yards receiving last year and sadly is now riding the bench after his spectacular year. He could be the offensive difference maker we need.

Saints at Rams - John Parry

Parry was the referee of Super Bowl XLVI, which was held February 5, 2012 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. This was his second Super Bowl as an official, and first as referee.

Parry's 2017 NFL officiating crew consists of umpire Mark Pellis, down judge Mike Spanier, line judge Jeff Seeman, field judge Dave Meslow, side judge Keith Washington, and back judge Perry Paganelli.

Jalen Collins CB depth!?

The title kind of says it all. I just saw the Falcons cut Jalen Collins today and after watching Hatfield and seeing our CB depth. I was wondering what the fellas here on the forum would think if the Rams picked him up to help our CB depth or even be a possible situational starter.

It's obvious we need the depth and he would be a decent "plug and play" type player I believe

This Saints Games is a lot bigger then we may think (11-5 may not make it)

I just went on playoff predictors and put a loss on the saints game with "most likely scores" for the rest of week 12. That keeps us out of the wild card and playoffs come Monday.

However, I then finished the season with W's over Cards, Sea, Titans and Niners (Loss to Phi) and got an 11-5 record. This can STILL leave us in 7th place!

There are a lot of toss up games in the NFC to be played and i did give Sea a W over Philly and Jags as a "worst case scenario" however just the fact that it's possible to be left out at 11-5 shows how tight this playoff race will be. Beating SEA in SEA still may not be enough.

Jared Goff vs Vikings (Analysis) ~Matt Waldman

Matt Waldman:

Jared Goff's poise is better than you think

You may see some stats that show the disparity of Goff's production against contending teams and also-rans. First, will those analysts provide the same context for all starting quarterbacks and second, how much are dropped passes and fumbles factors into the equation if at all?

When it comes to No. 2, I'd bet very little.

Goff performed better than his box score, just like he did against the Seahawks. He stood in the pocket and hit tight-window throws on pivotal down and distance situations.

This 2nd and 11 is a positive play even if it isn't one in the box score. Goff displays the pocket presence to wait as long as possible in the pocket before eluding the oncoming defender.

The longer the quarterback can stand in the pocket before climbing for flushing, the less time and space the opponent has to change direction and adjust to the quarterback's move. Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson are well-known for waiting until the last moment. Goff does this well enough to spin around the back side, reset, and give only his receiver a chance at the target.

One of the bigger questions of those unfamiliar with Goff's game at Cal or, even last year, wondered if Goff could handle punishment from a physical defense. Here's another clip of evidence that indicates we should stop questioning his physical and mental toughness.

Three plays later, Goff remains poised despite Barr's earlier plaster job. He maneuvers the pocket with the same poise and patience that he's displayed against less physical teams.

Goff wasn't the problem today. The Rams receiving corps dropped the ball before and after the catch. Here's Cooper Kupp losing the ball at the 1.

Kupp has been one of my favorite rookie receivers from the 2017 class, but I've noted in this column past examples where Kupp has come up short in the red zone. I think he'll grow into a more reliable red zone target, but it has been a frustrating development for a player who even Vikings coach Mike Zimmer labeled as the Rams best receiver this year.

Here's Kupp drop on third down.

In the second half, the Vikings began peppering the Rams with A-gap pressure and I thought Goff responded well, even if he wasn't statistically productive.

The statistically-driven narrative will be that Goff isn't that good because the Rams don’t produce at the same high rate against strong defenses. However, Goff did his job; his receivers and line didn't.

P.S My take: Jared Goff wasn't the reason we lost. He is already better than Wentz (use the eyeball test), just compare their games last night. Goff is progressing at an alarming rate, Greg Olson deserves more credit than he has been getting. Goff looked like Joe Montana last night. Goff's in just his 17th game is displaying the confidence and poise of an Aaron Rodgers on the road, in hostile Viking territory. He made some mistakes but no QB is perfect. Imagine him next year, or the year after that..... He does need to work on his throw on the run accuracy with Tom House and Adam Dedeaux @3DQB. I'd also like to see him add another 10-15 pounds.

8. Los Angeles Rams (7-3)| Last Week’s Rank: 4

The loss Sunday at Minnesota was not a promising beginning to the rugged stretch of the schedule that will show how the Rams stack up against the other top NFC contenders. If they don’t fare far better in the coming weeks against the Saints, Eagles and Seahawks, there will be no choice but to conclude that they are a year away from being the real deal.

Triumph: The Rams are coming off a loss to the Vikings, but that's not the end of the world. Los Angeles is 7-3 and should have no problem finishing the year with a winning record. If that happens, it'll be the franchise's first winning season since 2003.

What Saints Fans Are Saying Before And After The Game

http://saintsreport.com/forums/f2/d...e-lean-our-offense-get-w-376314/#.WhQ98kqnE2w

With the defense limping into LA. We are going to have lean on our offense to get the W.

Not being a Debbie downer. Just being realistic with the current state of injuries on defense.

With LA coming off a big loss that was supposed to be their statement game. I feel this game could be another high scoring affair.

Yet, I do feel our teams performs a bit better on the road. Drew starting to seem to going on a tear after how he got on a hot streak.

If the defense doesn't come in healthy and having to depend on Harris losing his man in coverage for wide open TDs. It's going to be a long day.

Point Blank: if Harris has to start = A loss or another crazy shootout.

A loss Sunday wouldn't hurt. We have bigger fish to fry with our division on the line against Carolina, it wouldn't be the end of the world to loss to LA.

Defense needs to get healthy is a big concern for this high powered Rams offense. The key to that game is going to be the quality of coverage to confuse Goff and Dline to contain Gurley and Goff. We got our hands full when healthy. We have our heads floating above water in the current state of injuries.

What's your level of optimism going into LA? If we can win. It's pretty huge.
-----------
I still think the Rams are a better matchup for us than Washington was. Vaccaro says he's back next week, Klein might be as well. But if either of them are not 100%, I'd save them for the following week. The last thing we want is for them to tweak something with two division games in four days on the horizon.
---------
It's big because it's an NFC opponent. Hendrickson's just gonna have to put his big boy pants on and rush some Goff on Sunday.
------------
The Defensive Line must play better, and our Linebackers have to play the game of their season, thus far. We cannot have the movement off the ball that occurred yesterday, else Gurley is going for 200 yards and 3 TDs. Then we will adjust, and Goff will pitch 3 TD passes in the second half on us.

LBers were not gap-picking, and the stunts weren't working. We had to resort to Blitzing, that left us vulnerable often...so vulnerable that twice, the WR had nobody withing 15 yards when they caught the ball.

The time that Cousins had to throw the ball is almost unforgivable.

We are not ready for that team, if we plan on playing like we did yesterday. I dont care if we have to go find 5 more LBers and try them out, do it.

That said...we can win this game, if we prepare properly.
----------
RUN THE BALL.

Rams are 28th in the league defending the run. Run the ball and keep our defense off the field.
----------
The Vikings just provided the blueprint. Shut down Gurley (or contain him) and then we might have a chance. Gurley only had 37 yds rushing. Without the running game Goff was holding onto the ball and getting pounded.

Meanwhile the Vikings rushed for over 150 yds against the Rams.

It's gonna be tough because the Rams have a good defense. However, our balanced attack gives us a good chance to take this one.
---------
Obviously we need our Secondary healthy to face Goff but Gurley might be the bigger issue. Having KV near the LOS scrimmage would help contain that beast.
---------
I expect another high scoring game, but the defense should play better than this week. I think we give up 24.
----------
I would rather us rest our injured guys and not rush them back. Obviously we will need everyone we can to beat the rams however IMO it's not worth risking them re aggravating an injury and being out longer or the whole season.

The panthers game is 100% more important than the rams game. With this team I really don't care if we play on the road throughout the playoffs as long as we have everyone as healthy as possible.
----------
The Rams don't do a lot of cutesy stuff from what I've seen. They run the ball and throw it vertically. But Goff looks like a 2-read QB. I think they split the field in half for him a lot. If we can get good coverage on the outside receivers its really going to limit what they can do in the passing game. Gurley concerns me more, he's the best offensive player we're going to go up against all season probably.

They have a lot of guys who can rush the passer so running the ball 40 times needs to be an option.
----------
LA is so overrated. Want to see what their offense did against the 3 top 10 defenses they've faced?

248 yards per game, sacked 8 times, had 6 turnovers, averaged 10 points per game. Record 1-2. The one win came against the Jags when they had 2 special teams TD's.

They put up a lot of points against a lot of really bad teams. Niners, Colts and Giants. Then against the Texans and Cardinals with backup QB's. Their 1 quality win they had two special teams TD's. A kick return and punt block returned, their only two special teams scores of the season.
----------
The Rams game feels the opposite of the skins game. On paper the skins game shoulda been an easy win but we all knew it wouldn't be. The Rams game on paper looks to be a dog fight in the making but I think we'll hanlde them easily.
--------
Run the ball, stop Gurley, don't bite on PA. Way easier said then done if we struggle against Gurley early. We're really going to have to earn this one.
----------
Goff isn't as good as Kirk Cousins and they're missing their best WR.

The Rams also have major troubles stopping the run. 28th in run defense. We should be able to run the ball pretty well. The more I read about the Rams the more confident I get - I don't get the sense that they're really ready for a smashmouth game in the trenches.
--------
The Redskins are better than the Rams. All of the Rams wins are against teams with losing records. ----------
We are better than LA and have a good chance to win, but we must have as many hands on deck the next week to begin the process of locking down the NFC South.
-----------
We need to pound the rock against LA like we did against Buffalo, but we need to get back on the trajectory of creating turnovers and QB sacks.
---------
http://saintsreport.com/forums/f2/wr-robert-woods-will-out-couple-weeks-376349/#.WhRBHkqnE2w

WR Robert Woods will be out for a couple of weeks

Sucks for him... But, one less Rams weapon we have to worry about....
---------
Lattimore already shut down Woods and he probably isn't even playing.
---------
Thaaaaat's a shame
---------
They still have Watkins and without Lattimore any reciever will give us fits. It’s going to be another tough game that Brees and the offense will have to win for us. Unfortunately, this time it will be on the road out west. One positive is that their weakness on defense is stopping the run.
----------
Sammy Watkins is talented, but he hasn't been dynamic this year at all.

I'm not saying he won't give us trouble, but it may not be as bad as it seems. Robert Woods was by far their best WR. It's big that he's out.
----------

Strong Possibility Ram's Top WR is Out Next Week

This would make Kupp their #1 and I think Lat, if he is healthy, can shutdown Kupp.

The make or break for Saints victory next week is likely how well we contain, or not, Gurley. He's a beast.
----------
I would say Watkins is their top guy after Woods.
---------
their secondary is banged up, which I think is a bigger factor. After seeing Theilen score a slip-one-guy long RAC TD yesterday, I can see some quick outs to Ginn.
----------
Cupp plays mostly in the slot. I would guess that Latt would be on Watkins.
---------
The Rams passing game doesn't seem to flow through one guy like that ... even if Woods were out, I don't think it would hamper them much.
----------
In the last 3-weeks, Woods has 350 yards and 4 TDs. Those are elite WR numbers.
---------
Anyone who DOES NOT believe that Dennis Allen, Aaron Glenn and Mike Nolan will have a scheme to confuse and disrupt the Rams' young QB (Goff), I have a word of advice:

Put-the-pipe-down!
smoke.gif

----------
I think the Vikings just showed the league how it's done. Break that tape down and see if you have the personnel and capability to replicate. Not many will, but it was pretty incredible what they did to the Rams.
----------
Agree 100%. On the other side, Wade Phillips will absolutely have a scheme to attack our offense. Expect Brees to get roughed up. But if we can run like we have over the win streak this will alleviate the pressure on Brees. The Rams have a lot of take-aways. We really need to eliminate turnovers and all should be fine.
---------
Is Watkins gonna play?

We'll definitely need Latt to shut down Watkins.

If we get Vaccaro and Klein back healthy to keep Gurley in check, without Woods in the short passing game, it'll be a long day for Goff.
-----------
https://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/new-orleans-saints/rams-will-be-without-robert-woods/73643512/

Rams will be without Robert Woods

Vaccaro and Klein need to be back. Gurley is going to eat us alive if there's this much miscommunication.

I trust Crawley to deal with Sammy, pj on kupp. But bell on Gurley is not good.
----------
Well there's a silver lining. They still have Gurley and Watkins though. But we desperately need Klein and Vaccaro. I think PJ and Crawley can limit Kupp and Watkins.

If Klein and Vaccaro aren't back though we are going to get gashed by Gurley
---------
He’s a reliable player but not a major concern either way.
---------
Woods hasn't been solid?
He is the 15th highest scoring WR in fantasy, 47 catches, 4 TD, and 703 yards

McVay: "Woods out a couple weeks"

FUUUUU
Time for Reynolds and Thomas to step up.

Sounds like Webster in concussion protocol.

Summary of McVay Monday... #LARams

•Woods (shoulder): Couple of weeks
•Webster: Concussion protocol
•Robey-Coleman (thigh): Day-to-day
•Hill (hammy): Back this week
•Need to get Tavon more involved. No excuses for 2 snaps yesterday.
•Saints: Nightmare to prepare for

It is time to start featuring Gerald Everett

I've been mentioning this now for a few weeks at least, that Higbee just isn't delivering what a McVay offense requires. He can't do it. One guy on him, in his grill, and Higs will drop seemingly half the passes thrown to him. It started and was noted in camp, continued in preseason and the regular season, and here we are TEN GAMES in to Higbee's second season and he's the same guy.

Higbee is a JAG.

Nobody is more disappointed in that than myself, but it is what it is. And when you look at this offense the TE position overall is nowhere near what it should be in production. Now, some of that has been made up by Gurley just like we saw Marshall eating up some TE type passing game/routes usage back in the day.

But when it comes to playing top defenses this offense is missing a big target over the middle. It's not there.

Enter Everett. He is our only hope of capturing that element at last for this offense, and putting them over the hump for being able to handle hostile playoff environments against disciplined and physical defenses. We are offensively what Seattle said we are: a finesse offense. Sure, we can run the ball well, but we don't have security blanket passing game elements outside of Woods. I do think Kupp is going to give us very good play down the stretch too from that perspective but vs top defenses we're going to need that "third kinda heat."

We need the TE position to step up. Higs ain't gonna do that. It has to be Everett. He has the hands, the elusiveness after the catch to make things happen off script. He can bring the ball in as a security blanket option when a DB or LB is hanging on him. Let's go McVay, end the Higbee experiment by radically increasing Everett's role in this offense.

It's time, IMO.

Georgia Dome imploded after 25 years of use

Sorry about the click bait title. :) It's sort of a literal meaning. They just blew up the old Georgia Dome. Among other great events there was one very special to us all. The Rams only Super Bowl title was achieved in that building. :football:

They can blow up the house, but they can't take away our title!!

Ike Bruce "...and their not gonna catch him today!"

Mike Jones. The Tackle.
Here's to new stadiums. New memories. New SB wins!!

Playoff inexperience: Is Kayvon the only player with a win?

I just realized almost none of our guys have ever been to the playoffs, let alone a win.
Whitworth has been there but the Bengals lost in the first round every time.
Barwin went with the Eagles, but they also were a first round exit.
Kayvon obviously came from Denver.
And obviously none of the home grown Rams have been.
In fact, McVay doesn't have a playoff win either, does he? I think this is the best season he's ever had too, I don't recall the Redskins ever having this good a record recently.

So is our team really that inexperienced in the playoffs? I kinda like it that way, this team is so young (2nd youngest in the league) and young in all the right places. No matter how this year goes they are getting invaluable clutch experience.

Thoughts on New Orleans

Moving on from the frustrating loss yesterday, it doesn’t get any easier for us this week with the Saints coming to LA. However I think we match up better against them than with Minny.

1. Minnesota has a better pass rush imo. Cam Jordan and Rankins are a handful, but so were Griffen/Joseph/Barr and Clowney. I just think Minny is deeper as a unit than NO.

2. Saints don’t have an elite LB. The 3 elite Ds we’ve played this year have had elite MLBs that have been all over the field in the run and pass games. Telvin Smith, Bobby Wagner, and Eric Kendricks are light years better than Te’o.

3. Brees isn’t as mobile as Keenum. Yes he can move in the pocket, but getting hits and hurried on Brees is the key to getting off the field on Sunday. Historically we’ve done this well vs Brees. AD needs to have a big day and I expect Wade to continue the LB blitzes with Tree.

Having said all of that I know NO has a much better O than Minny, possibly the best O we’ll play all year. On the other hand their D can be scored on. We’ll need to score at least 24 to beat them. It helps that we have this game at home. Thoughts?
