4K Blu Ray Players

Thinking about getting one this Christmas season. I have everything I need for it. Only a year old 4k TV with HDR technology. HDMI cables. Even have Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on 4K disc. Speaking of discs, the only thing that has me holding my $$$ back is the cost of the movie. At $25-$30 a pop, they can get pretty pricey.

But when Thor Ragnarok and Avengers Infinity War come out on blu ray it could be amazing.

So, any experience out there??? Is there a difference than my normal blu ray movies?

This Game is SOO Huge

No, the Cards are not at their best right now. It is a divisional game and that is always important for bragging rights and it has tie breaker implications in the NFC West. However, the next HUGE hurdle is being a winning team. How many years have we longed for this? How long has the team and the whole organization yearned for this? The chant has been for more than a decade, "let's get to .500." We did that.

That's why this game just can't be a trap game for us, it means too much.

Rams at Cardinals

It's Game Day!

The GDT is a live thread tradition here at ROD.

While we all get fired up watching the game, please remember one of our core principles; we always aim to show respect for our team.

Despite the emotional highs and lows watching a game, we will moderate this thread with that in mind, however please refrain from name calling. This applies to players, the Rams organization, and others.

This is our team. Win or lose. Good days and bad.

Go Rams!

With Connor Barwin out due to a forearm injury, Los Angeles has made a roster move to bolster its depth at outside linebacker for the Week 13 matchup with Arizona.

The Rams have promoted outside linebacker Carlos Thompson from their practice squad and waived outside linebacker Ejuan Price.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, Thompson signed with the Rams just prior to the start of the offseason program and was on the active roster through training camp. While he was waived when the club reduced its roster to 53 players, Thompson was signed to Los Angeles’ practice squad and has been there ever since.

Head coach Sean McVay said this week Samson Ebukam will start in Barwin's place at outside linebacker. With his promotion, Thompson could be a part of the Rams' defensive rotation and play a role on special teams on Sunday.

Before signing with the Rams, Thompson spent the 2015 season and 2016 offseason program with the Texans. The outside linebacker signed with Houston as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss. Thompson played in two games backing 2015, making a pair of tackles.

A 2017 seventh-round pick out of Pitt, Price appeared in the Week 10 victory over the Texans, seeing action on special teams.

The Rams will travel to Arizona on Saturday afternoon, following the club’s walk-thru.

Did Alshon Jeffery contract just set the market for Watkins?

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...-jeffery-four-year-extension-worth-52-million

"The deal is worth $52 million and also includes $1 million per year in incentives and $27 million in guarantees, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter."

Watkins is a bit younger. Jefferey has put up slightly better numbers this year, but it seem like this is about what it will take to get a deal done with Watkins.

Cooper Kupp taking guff, but pass to Tavon Austin's feet showed smarts

Cooper Kupp taking guff, but pass to Tavon Austin's feet showed smarts

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- Todd Gurley will admit that Cooper Kupp, the Los Angeles Rams' rookie slot receiver, has a decent arm -- but perhaps not as good as his.

"I think I should be back there throwing it," Gurley said, "but, whatever."

Gurley also understands why Kupp is the one who will usually be tasked with that responsibility.

"He's going to make great decisions with the ball, if anything," Gurley said. "Unlike me, I'd be trying to do all types of crazy stuff and make a play and look like Travis Kelce and throw a pick."

Which brings us to Sunday's play, a mere footnote in the Rams' 26-20 victory over the New Orleans Saints. The Rams called a trick play at an unconventional time, while up 10 with less than 10 minutes remaining. Jared Goff threw a quick pass to Pharoh Cooper, who then pitched it to Kupp as he drifted behind him. But Kupp threw the ball to the ground for an incompletion, a rare opportunity ruined.

"I’m getting a lot of crap for this play right now," Kupp said. "I can throw the football, OK?"

Kupp, 24, processed a lot in his head before he let go of the football. He actually made a progression. It's highlighted in a couple of screen grabs below, the first one illustrating his primary option (Sammy Watkins) and his secondary one (Tavon Austin). The second notes the Saints players who posed dangers on the play, which ultimately forced Kupp to make the wise decision of throwing it away.

Kupp ran through it all quickly.

"Right before the play started, the safety is flying over the top," he said. "Go look at the film. The safety’s like, ‘Oh, crap, we’re outnumbered over here.’ The safety comes over the top, right? So that means that as I’m getting the ball, Sammy’s gotta beat his guy, and now there’s a safety over the top. So now my primary read is gone. I know Tavon is coming across the field, right? But as I find him, he’s got someone tight behind him, and the corner is now falling off Sammy. So if I throw it to him, Tavon’s getting smacked. So I start sliding to my right, I’m feeling pressure back side, and I’m like, ‘I have nowhere to go with this ball. There’s nobody in front of me.' So I just threw it right at the feet of Tavon."

Kupp's father, Craig, was a quarterback in the NFL. Kupp himself was a backup quarterback through high school and an emergency quarterback at Eastern Washington, where he completed 7 of 10 passes for 180 yards and four touchdowns. Yes, he can throw. But it's his football IQ that can make him a unique weapon on trick plays.

"He's not your typical rookie," Rams offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur said. "It's funny because a lot of times, after they're done with the receiver meeting, he'll come in the quarterback meeting and he'll listen to us. He loves football. Very intelligent player, and we're lucky to have him."

Rams coach Sean McVay called Kupp's decision on Sunday "a smart throwaway," though LaFleur would've preferred to see him instead chuck the ball out of bounds. McVay said Kupp has "a great arm," but was predictably coy when asked about whether he will utilize it in the future. Any trick play for Kupp, however, will include a maximum of two reads.

"We won't ask him to exhaust a progression and get through and use all of his eligibles," McVay said with a smile.

Kupp would like another chance, but he understands that it is not up to him.

He just wants you to know that his spiked throw was intentional, not a reflection of his ability.

"Look, there’s a lot that went into that play," Kupp said. "I can throw the ball. The coaches aren’t just throwing some person out there, OK? I can throw the ball."

Practice Report: Rams Not Counting Out the Cardinals

NOT COUNTING OUT THE CARDINALS

Sunday will mark the second time this season that the Rams have faced off against the Cardinals. Just a few weeks ago, L.A. shut out Arizona, 33-0 in London, taking home the club’s biggest victory over the Cardinals in series history.

And while many outside of the building are referring to Sunday’s contest as a potential “trap game” for Los Angeles, the players inside the locker room don’t see it that way.

“I don’t think there are any trap games in the NFL,” wide receiver Josh Reynolds said. “Every team has the ability to beat you. Each week you have to play all out. So I know there is not that mindset in this locker room about it being a trap game.”

Left guard Rodger Saffold, the longest-tenured Ram, has played against the Cardinals 15 teams over his eight seasons. He said that regardless of records, every time you go up against a division rival the intensity is heightened — pointing to the many “close battles” between the clubs in the past.

“I expect it to be a tough-fought game. I expect them to make plays, and I expect there to be a little bit of adversity that we have to overcome in order to win the game,” Saffold said. “This is a real game, and we are going to have to play our best if we want to win.”

Saffold went on to describe how Arizona has rebounded over the past five weeks since the two teams last met. He believes that the 5-6 Cardinals could just as easily have at least seven wins.

“You can’t count out the Cardinals. This is a good game with a good team,” he said. “Their record doesn’t show it, but they’ve been in a lot of close games that they just weren’t able to come out with a win.”

This week the Rams expect the Cardinals to come out with a chip on their shoulders. As such, in order to win on Sunday, L.A. will need to be at its best.

“We just know being in the league, how the league works — whether it’s the best team or the worst team in the league,” running back Todd Gurley said. “So, you have to come and bring it each weekend.”

INJURY REPORT

The Rams received some positive news on the injury front going into Sunday.

Linebacker Mark Barron (non-injury related), center John Sullivan (non-injury related), left tackle Andrew Whitworth (non-injury related), tight end Tyler Higbee (illness), and cornerback Kayvon Webster(ankle) all returned to practice on Friday as full participants. As such, they’re expected to play on Sunday.

Wide receiver Robert Woods (shoulder) and outside linebacker Connor Barwin (forearm) are the only Rams ruled out of the Week 13 contest. Rounding out the club’s injury report were running backs Lance Dunbar(knee) and Malcolm Brown. Although both were full participants in Friday’s session, they are questionable to play on Sunday.

Should both be able to play, offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur said it will help in keeping running back Todd Gurley fresh.

“We have a lot of confidence in both of those guys going in and being able to execute the same way that when Todd’s in the game,” LaFleur said. “So yeah, it allows us to keep [Gurley] a little more fresh so that when it gets down in the crunch time, he’s got a full head of steam behind him.”

For Arizona, wide receiver John Brown (toe), linebacker (ankle), safety Rudy Ford (knee), and defensive lineman Corey Peters (ankle) were ruled out by head coach Bruce Arians and will not participate on Sunday.

Defensive lineman Josh Mauro (ankle) and tight end Troy Niklas (back/knee) will be questionable to play.

But the biggest name on the Cardinals’ injury report is running back Adrian Peterson (neck) who is questionable to play on Sunday after not participating in practice all week. According to www.azcardinals.com, Arians said Peterson will be a “game-time decision.”
