Rams press conference? Pre

Just saw on NFL network Talib,Peters get greeted by Coach Pleasant in front of the Rams compound. There was maybe a driver ?
Not sure who he was , but walked around coach & went in ahead of them.

First Peters greets Pleasant with hand slap & a hug . He is wearing a t-shirt & his pants are half down his azz. Oak town style , I get it in a sense of not giving a shit & statement of freedom. —imo though is , it’s first time meeting coaches , & a press conference. It’s a business. I’m not sure if he brought other clothes with ?

Then Talib gives a hug & Pleasant is careful not to mess up the threads. He looks like a $ millon bucks !! First class suit & totally professional. This is the mentoring Wade & McVay love !! We saw it with Sullivan & Barwin last season , both probably grooming there replacements.

Sam Shields? Not sure he will be there ?
NRC along with Joyner really make this unit special.
I’m a fan of M.Petterson & Troy Hill resigned . Plus countess, Christiansen, and a couple other Youngstud DB’s who played solid on special teams.

—Looks like the end for Cody Davis.

Well, the Rams better damned well get Joyner extended this season...

I’m surprised that they couldn’t get it done earlier, tbh.

The tag could have been avoided altogether. I mean, Joyner’s value and tag price are so close together.

Why wouldn’t Joyner have been all over an offer of $10-11 million per for 5 years with significant g-jack security? Makes no sense.

Here’s the thing. They either extend him this year or they probably lose him next offseason. And let’s face it. Their record of extending in mid-year hasn’t been a good one lately.

That tag must be used for AD for the next 2-3 years. Unless AD and his pos agent come to their senses.

Extending Joyner should be a high priority.

Rams Being Shortsighted?

I know I am over the moon about getting Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib. Re-signing Joyner and NRC are huge as well, but are we filling the team starting positions with FA’s instead of home grown guys? We’ve been following the build through the draft model until last year, but now it seems like we have abandoned that somewhat in a Win-Now mentality. How different is what the Rams are doing now with what Philly did a few years ago with the “Dream Team” failure?

Maybe the build through the draft model doesn’t work anymore, or are we just Shortsighted?

Crabtree might become available

Raiders will cut Crabtree if they sign Jordy

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the Raiders are expected to release Michael Crabtree if they sign free agent Jordy Nelson.

Even as other outlets covering the team have reported Crabtree is safe, the Review-Journal has insisted he isn't, and Tuesday's visit with Nelson all but confirms it. Nelson has history with Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie, a former Packers exec. Nelson would take Crabtree's old possession/red-zone role across from Amari Cooper. Cooper is expected to be the Raiders' go-to wideout in '18.

Would you be interested? Hes 30 years old and probably won't be too expensive.

One thing this market proves with QBs

Is that you gotta have depth and another option waiting in the wings just in case. Along these lines and as a general rule, if I were the GM of a team, I'd make sure I took a QB project type at a minimum at the "two years out" point of my starter's remaining contract. Not to avoid paying him, but to hedge my bets.

Philly winning it all with their backup also puts the value of the position in perspective. Granted that type of thing doesn't happen all that often, but your backup QB is pretty damn important.

WRT Jared's contract, he's got 2018 & 2019 seasons covered, so now would be a nice time for the team to snap up a "backup" QB that the staff can sink their teeth into and start developing. Mannion will be a FA after the season, and this particular draft is very deep at the QB position. This is a good one to do that in.

About the Rams in FA this year...

The reason that the Rams will probably be relatively quiet in big splash top tier FA?

They now have limited needs at starting positions.

Think about it.

C. Almost certain to extend Sully. A low cost quality solution.
WR. Probably a 2nd tier FA, but the starter might already be on our roster.
NT. Draft or FA, I dunno.
Edge. Likely our top draft pick on one side and could be Barwin as a bridge on the other.
ILB. Wade historically has preferred lower and non-expensive draft picks or FA’s here.

The two trades for elite CB’s has removed that position from our top needs list. Shields and NRC have finished our starting secondary. It’s now top drawer.

So, as I look at the above, I see probably only 4 FA starters incoming. Maybe 5. But none will be big splash types.

Remaining incoming FA’s will be for depth upgrades. The Rams will wait until after the first wave is over to do those.

So, less FA drama this offseason, perhaps, but a steady stream of 2nd tier incoming players nonetheless.

Secondary:
CB: S:
Peters Joyner
Talib Johnson
Shields
NRC
Hill

Need to draft some late round safety depth but this is a beast ass secondary. With Webster as a non rushed depth piece to add. We need to get our QB pressure taken care of and if we can get that we have a ton of coverage sacks that will happen. Need to get our run D in order to stop that option. Poe as NT? Or a good draft pick? a good ILB? Williamson? Davis? We are going to sign some peeps after this first FA rush.

Why is there even a FA starting period?

What the hell is the point of free agency opening up tomorrow if all these fuckers are agreeing to deals today? I don’t agree with it one bit. The players signing today are players who care about the money. The players aren’t allowed to speak with the teams, right? If so, they are just taking deals, to hell with getting a feel for the team.

If I was an NFL player, I think I would want to get to know the coaches, a few players and the city. I think I would take 3-4 or 5 visits to my top teams and take my time to weigh it all. But when a team is throwing out retarded numbers I guess it’s too tempting.

Just How Good is Jared Goff (Niner Nation Fan Post)

Note: This is a "fanpost" I ran into while lurking over at NN to see what transactions they were rumored to be making, and stumbled across this bit of genius.

*Bonus: Spot the bonehead name misspellings! (I didn't change a thing- except for a few illustrations.) (y)

This mouth-breather truly has a future as a scribe for Whiner online fans and sycophants alike! Clearly he did extensive research before posting this gem...

Ask any 49ers fan older than 20 years old and they'll remind you how Kurt "I'm just throwing to spots" Warner, Issac "That is one angular forehead" Bruce, and Sam Cassell look alike Tory "Good Lookin" Holt used to wRECk havoc on opposing defenses under a offensive minded genius named Martz.

Flash forward to present day and the Rams now have Jared "I look like Ryan Gosling in spots" Goff, Aaron "That is one angular forehead" McDonald, and Todd "Good Lookin" Hurley. Add the youngest NFL coach ever who also happens to be an offensive minded genius, and you think the current version of the Rams is the Greatest Show On Turf reincarnate.

I mean these guys are IHOP pancake stacked right? Look what they had last year:

1.) Todd Gurley , Offensive Player of The Year

2.) Aaron McDonald, Defensive Player of The Year

3.) Sean McVay, Coach of The Year and

4.) a Top Offensive Line Of The Year

That, coupled with the epic noise coming from Turf Times, you'd think the Rams won the SuperBowl, cured cancer, and disarmed every nuclear missile in North Korea.

But all that is Ram gold does not glitter. Because just what did all that get them?

Why I'll tell you Wayne, It got them The 2017-2018 Early Playoff Exit OF The Year, courtesy of the Falcons.

Why is that?

Two words. Jared Goff.

As of March 12 2018 per an NFL article, Goff is rated 20th in QBs. A certain quarterback is rated Garoppo-higher Here's the description:

Goff flourished in Los Angeles last season partly because of incredible support: Great pass protection, open receivers, yards after the catch and clearly defined reads. His timing and accuracy were on point for a young pro just starting to develop.

If that descriptions doesn't yell "This guy needs help" I don't know what does.Yes his timing and accuracy were on point for a young pro. Except, when there was a big game. He struggled in his first game against Seattle and got obliterated against the Vikings. He seemed to recover nicely against the Saints and Titans. Then came the biggest game of his career against the 24th ranked defense of the NFL.

Here's his line:

24 for 45, 53% completion, 5.8 yard avg attempt, 259 yards. 1 TD 3 Sacks for a subpar performance rating of 77.9 (average is 88)

Donald was a beast, Gurley had over 100 yards (albeit couldnt find the endzone), and Goff choked.

Jared Goff may look like a shiny object. But, like Hollywood , when you look underneath the glamour and glitz you find something hollow and lacking.

Troll La La!
