Appreciate there are multiple draft threads running but I don't have time to read 800-something replies. So let's do a quick check - how we all feeling after day 2?
Mark me down as having singed pubes and eyebrows. I think we are fucking nailing this, there's a clear plan and a clear style of player they are looking for which mirrors their moves last year and also I'm free agency this year.
It's clear to me that this team is now prioritising high character "guys who care" with relentless motors and impeccable attitudes. And these guys are dogs. I absolutely love it.
Base if things remain basically the same in scheme

3. BLAKE CORUM, Michigan (5-7 ½, 204, 4.53, 2-3): Started 29 of 45 games over four years, setting the Wolverines’ record for touchdowns from scrimmage with 61 (28 in 2023). “Love that kid,” one scout said. “Great pad level, tough, hard to tackle, very strong for his frame. Just not a home-run guy, but the NFL is made of guys like that on first and second down. He can play on third down because you can trust him in pass protection. He’ll be a playoff-style running back when you have to run the football. I would not be afraid to take him in the second, based on your roster. He has to stay healthy but trust me, he will do everything in the offseason to make sure he’s healthy. In the offseason, Blake Corum will be one of those guys who’s in the building every single day even if he doesn’t have to be. Character is off the charts.” Was in the running for the Heisman Trophy in 2022 before suffering ligament, cartilage and bone damage in a knee late in the season. Still finished seventh before being named the team’s MVP and toughest player by vote of his teammates. Started all 15 games in 2023 but his yards per carry dipped from 5.9 to 4.8. “I thought he lost just a tick from what he was playing at before the injury,” a second scout said. “Undersized and shifty. Shows good quickness, speed and vision. Just limited in the pass game. He’s a playmaker with the ball in his hands. Willing in pass pro. The size obviously is there but he’s not afraid to throw his body around. Not a natural route runner but he can catch it. There’s a shot for him to be a starter.” Finished with 675 carries for 3,737 (5.5) and 58 TDs but caught just 56 passes. “He’s faster than Emmitt Smith but Smith weighed 10 more pounds and was taller,” a third scout said. “Of all the players in this year’s draft, if I had to pick one player that I loved watching, (Jayden) Daniels would be first and Corum would be the second. I don’t know if the guy can last at that size. Emmitt Smith had the best balance of anyone and this guy has that same type of balance. The guy is a terrific player.” His 27 reps on the bench press led the position. “Other than size, I really like him,” said a fourth scout. “I don’t like that size. I think he’s strictly a strong backup.” From Marshall, Va.
Love the Verse pick and the relationship between his coach at Albany with Donald when at Pittsburgh.
I can't help but think how this D Line will look and how it would look with AD there.
So, lol, any chance AD watched the draft and said damn I would love to strap it on with this kid? And by the end of the draft he is saying damn this team looks like it can win again and I always wanted that second ring?
What a relief that the Rams got Edge out of the way at the top. Seems like there's room now for them to put together a kickass class with three more picks in the top 100. Who's on the round 2 list for you boys.
I'm thinking DL or WR, maybe S. Players I like in all those positions who might make it to us. Wondering if the Rams may take a flyer on an OT project though.
We can comment as players fly off the board to whichever team they go. Do the Rams trade up, stay put at #19 or move back for picks? Lets stay on point with conversation about the draft and implication for our Rams.
Happy Draft Day!
This draft is my best attempt at what I think they will attempting to do.
Draft goals
1) Make the offense an elite unit in 2024 through the end of Stafford’s contract in 2026.
2) Fill holes on the D with an emphasis on the front 7 to bring the defense to around league average.
Trades
19 (875) and ’25 1st to Denver for 12 and ’25 3rd – We trade up for a long-term LT.
52 (380) to KC for 64 (270), 131 (41), and ’25 3rd (70) – Classic Snead maneuver. A trade down following a trade up. We trade down on a near perfectly even trade on the trade chart to recoup some ’25 draft capital.
Round 1, pick 12 – Olumuyiwa Fashanu, LT Penn State
We move up to get our LT of the future. He’s a strong pass protector, possibly the best in this class, and he’s also a good run blocker.
He’s a versatile d’lineman with the length and strength to align at 5T and 3T. He has one of the highest pass rush win rates in the nation at 18.3%. He’ll slide in immediately as the starter at 5T.
(Ruke Orhorhoro, DL also works here.)
Round 3, pick 83 – Mohamed Kamara, Edge Colorado State
This is a Rams type player and my favorite player in the draft. He’s undersized but insanely productive with an incredibly high motor.
Round 3, pick 99 – Brenden Rice, WR USC
He's a tall, vertical playmaker with good speed and size. He’ll be a quality rotational piece at the X receiver spot.
Good compliment to Kyren. Great contact balance, best in class at yards after contact, great size and physicality. Doesn’t have great speed, not a HR threat.
Small school gem with a super quick first step and good power. NT depth behind Bobby Brown.
Round 5, pick 155 – Decamerion Richardson, CB Mississippi State
Tested as the most athletic CB in the class. Good in zone, good run defender. He’ll compete for CB2 but most likely will be depth.
Round 6, pick 196 – Jaylen Harrell, Edge Michigan
Rams brought him in for a visit. Great motor, highly productive. 19.9% pass rush win rate on a strong defense. He’ll provide rotational depth.
Round 6, pick 209 – Will Reichard, K Alabama
Let’s solve the kicking woes now.
Round 6, pick 213 – Josh Proctor, S Ohio State
Good ball skills, plus run defender, can align over big slot targets. Coverage limitations due to below-average speed.
I wanted to get a safety sooner because I don’t believe Yeast should be a starter, but there is a glut of vet safety’s on the market so we will likely sign one of them on a 1-year contract.
Round 6, pick 217 – Nathaniel Watson, LB Mississippi State
Throwback LB, good size, stack and shed ability, good blitzer. Highly productive. Tight hips and lacks speed.
Round 7, pick 254 –Andrew Raym, IOL Oklahoma
Tough center with good size. He’ll compete to be the backup to Avila.
