Mourning AD in my own way

I know this is a late response and I know we have done about as well as we could in 23-24 drafts in rebuilding our front seven.

But since AD'S Retirement, I have not been able to watch or read anything about him.
Maybe I'm just in denial or just so heartbroken that I can't allow myself to Face up to the truth.
I have never felt this way about any Ram player leaving or retiring. I handled Bruce leaving
same with Holt ,Faulk . And many other Great Rams. I was disappointed, but still good to go

I think it all boils down to just how much I loved this guy. I just don't how I will react when the
new season starts and 99 is nowhere to found on the field.
I'm still struggling and this is actually the first time I written about the subject.
Never thought it would hit me as hard as it has

Maybe it's the difference in losing a great Ram and losing The Greatest Ram to have ever stepped on the field.
God bless you AD and thank you for being AD every day and every game.
The End of a era in Rams history.

Happy for his wife and kids. Dad's home to stay.

Rams News: Xavier Smith Secures Extension

The Los Angeles Rams secure their promising wide receiver Xavier Smith from the practice squad with an extended contract.

In a move signaling confidence in emerging talent, the Los Angeles Rams have secured wide receiver Xavier Smith for an extended tenure. Smith, a Florida A&M product, has demonstrated potential that the Rams organization is keen to cultivate.
Despite going undrafted in 2023, Smith's journey with the Rams began shortly thereafter, as he signed as an undrafted free agent. His preseason performances, particularly a notable 25-yard reception against the Las Vegas Raiders, underscored his capabilities and potential value to the team. Jarrett Hoffman of HBCU Sports notes this progression, highlighting Smith's swift transition from college standout to professional prospect.

Smith's initial exclusion from the Rams' final roster did not mark the end of his NFL aspirations. Instead, he embraced the role of a practice squad player, a testament to his perseverance and the Rams' recognition of his latent ability. The practice squad, often seen as a contingency reservoir, provided Smith a platform to refine his skills and remain within arm's reach of the main roster.

College Achievements and Career Goals

Smith's collegiate accolades at Florida A&M, including three All-Conference honors and recognition from the American Football Coaches Association, paint the picture of a player with a history of excellence. His All-American status further solidifies his reputation as a formidable athlete.

The Rams' current wealth of talent at wide receiver presents both a challenge and an opportunity for Smith. As he aspires to transition from a practice squad member to securing a bench role, the path ahead is one of potential growth and significant competition. Smith's ambition to carve out a place within the Rams' ranks will require continued dedication and performance that stands out in a team already fairly loaded at his position.

Xavier Smith's contract extension with the Rams is an investment in a player whose journey from undrafted rookie to professional athlete embodies the relentless pursuit of success in the NFL.

The Rams have the best OL in the NFC West (and it's not close)

"The offensive line is pretty important." - Captain Obvious

Looking back to 2022, the Rams OL returned only three starters from their Super Bowl squad, following the retirement of Andrew Whitworth and the departure of Austin Corbett. Add a bunch of injuries, and the unit became so decimated that it turned the post-Championship campaign into the worst sequel since Caddyshack 2.

Fast forward to now, though, and the OL has been refurbished and now, in my opinion, is the best unit in the NFC West... by far!

Going position by position, the top LT in the division is clearly still Trent Williams of the 49ers. Though he's getting up there in age, if he stays healthy, he's in a class by his own. The Rams return A.J. Jackson at LT, who had a solid season last year, and is playing on a "prove it" deal after being tendered as a RFA.

From there, though... its all Rams. I feel comfortable saying that the top 2 OGs in the division are Kevin Dotson and Jonah Jackson.

The next best interior OL in the division, in my opinion, is Steve Avila. The only thing stopping me from declaring him the best at his position is the fact that he's switching to center. He's played the position before, though, so I have high confidence in his ability to be the best center in the division.

Finally, we get to RT. Tell me who in the division has a better RT than Rob Havenstein. Paris Johnson in Arizona has potential, but he's not there yet.

This is a key part of McVay's plan. I think he looks back longingly at the Rams' divisional playoff win against the Cowboys in 2018-19, when the offense generated 273 rushing yards. Matthew Stafford also must be licking his chops at the prospect of strong pass protection and a highly-credible run threat.

I think this offense is on the verge (no pun intended, Jared, you play defense!) of great things.

Man NFL very interesting after this deep ass class and all the new QB’s around the league that will shift power and positions around in divisions.

Which ones will you be following?

Weirdest WiFi Hotspot...

...you ever ran across. Today I was sitting in the car in a library parking lot while my went to makes some copies, when I searched for the free library WiFi. Normally, there are random WiFi options from homes and businesses. This time. there was a hotspot that said "FBI Surveillance van." I immediately turned and looked around, but saw no van. But on the other side of the building is what passes as a busy street in our small city (28K). There is no way an FBI office is based in this town, but there is a university, maybe the Hamas garbage on campus?

I thought it was weird in my town, so what is the weirdest hot spot addy you have seen on your phone?

What is The Rams biggest need following the NFL Draft?

I would love to kick the tires on these few:

Stephon Gilmore CB
Still got plenty left in the tank, can we grab him for a run before/if White goes down?

OBJ - Curious if he’ll even consider anything beside a near premium price tag before mid season?

Hunter Renfrow - Could you imagine him, Kupp, and Puca running deadly routes all season?
Matthew would always have someone to throw to.

Some decent vet LB opposite of Jones. Has to be somebody better than our vets on the roster currently.

What to expect?

We wanted the draft to be all about the defense and it was, for the most part. So that side of the ball, though young, should be better. But what to expect from the offense? When McVay was signed, there was talk about 2 tight ends, lots of running and play action passing. We never got to see much 12 personnel. Fast forward to 2024. The interior OL has been BEEFED UP. We have a talented young RB who was #3 in rushing yards, #1 in YPG while missing 5 games, 4 due to injury. And we added a complimentary RB in Corum. Parkinson was acquired, another good blocking TE and though Higbee was injured in the postseason, he should be back before the midway point of the season. Are we going to see more 12 than we have the previous 7 seasons? Our achilles heel last year was short yardage and red zone issues. That may be ancient history. I'm looking forward to a top 5 offense this season with a much improved defense. Where should that get us?

Drake Stoops

I am calling it now, I think dude is going to stick.
I have been pumping up Trammel for a couple of years as a guy who always gets open.
He was not brought back (I don't think so anyway).
Stoops is a great route runner, great hands and has a quick change of direction.
I don't know what his 40 time is and I don't care.
Dude will get open and catch the ball.
With McVay with his Skow replacement drafted in Whittington I think Stoops has a real chance to make the roster.
Skow out, Whittington and Stoops in.
Anyone have any UDFA they think have a shot to make the 53?
