Unsung hero JHekker

That punt was him coming up REALLY BIG in a critical moment versus a true threat of a returner and he took away his chance at a big return by driving him twenty yards backwards to get the ball. Hill is a guy who can break off a big return on any punt.

Hekker pinned them deep, and in order for them to even get a FG to tie was going to be hard to do starting that far away and just one timeout on a short clock.

A 68 yard punt was just what the doctor ordered!!!

FYI his plant foot was at about the 23 yard line, so the ball went 77 yards in the air. That's simply remarkable.

Well, it’s been half a day since the final gun...

So I’m gonna throw out a few things here, some of which might make a few uncomfortable.

Yeah, we won. But geez, the Chiefs spotted us 13 points and 8 penalties before getting started. Then they added 5 turnovers. So, if we meet again in the SB on a neutral field... Gulp.

Talib will make a big difference for the Rams, I’m certain. A much needed one, I might add.

I’m virtually certain that Gurley was hurt early and was not 100%.

Question. Why didn’t either HC emphasize their respective running games to a greater degree? Would have kept the opposing potent O off the field more. I get that Gurley was probably hurt, but Malcolm Brown is no slouch and could have been quite effective. The game resembled Arena football most of the time. Did both HC’s overlook the obvious?

Is Big Whit winding down? Is it too soon to give Boom a few series to get some experience?

Refreshing to see Reynolds, Everett, and Higbee all step up, big time. Perfect timing.

Clearly, the Ram O and ST are SB worthy. But, is the D? We “held” the Chiefs to 51 points. Hard to type that sentence. Merlin and Deacon are spinning in their graves right about now. And Jack Youngblood is unavailable for comment. Lol.

Goff wasn’t perfect, but neither were his conditions to operate. Chiefs are a likely SB team, so any win over such a team is noteworthy. I wouldn’t trade Goff for ANY other NFL QB as of 2018.

AD is superhuman. He routinely wrecks opposing O’s. We got Sooooo lucky with that 13th overall pick.

Hekker was once again a stud when needed most. So many heroes on this team that he probably doesn’t get enough credit.

Is Suh’s presence sufficiently enhancing AD’s opportunities? I mean, $14 million worth? I don’t think so, frankly. I think he’s lost his fastball and is a goner in ‘19.

Don’t think Barron will be a Ram next year, either. Probably some kind of a trade.

Is Fowler’s presence helping Ebu? Of course it is, but I mean does it enable Ebu to become a quality starting OLB? Put another way, was Longacre’s poor play allowing opponents to take away Ebu? Speaking of Longacre, I doubt that he’s among the actives the rest of this season and is a goner next year. Duh!

Don’t know what to make of Peters. I once thought he was a lock to be extended, but now I’m not so sure. Heck, he might get beat out by a CB drafted in the 1st next year. He’s gotta win me over once again. What’s with the socks thing, btw? Sheesh.

Joyner’s a goner. Bank it. He’s very replaceable for a fraction of his salary.

Still predicting a minimum of 3 new starters on D next year. Suh, Barron, and Joyner all goners.

Some others are iffy based upon how they contribute during the final 5 games plus the playoffs.

Brockers
Fowler (salary demands will be a factor)
Ebu (one great game does not a season make)
Peters (can Wade fit him into the system, or not?)

Look, we just allowed 51 points to the Chiefs. We’ve allowed 282 points through 11 games, do the math. In the last 4 games Rams have allowed 154 points. That is not a misprint.

This cannot continue if we hope to go to the SB. And it certainly cannot continue into 2019. Our O and ST can do just so much. Right now this D is resembling AD and the 10 dwarfs a bit too much, don’t you think?

What do the Top 3 teams have in common?

I’m talking about the Saints, Rams, and Chiefs, of course.

Let’s see...

Elite level HC’s that are distinctly O oriented. All 3 call plays, I believe.

Elite level QB’s.

Elite level OL’s.

Multiple elite type receivers to deploy.

Are we detecting a trend here?

None of these 3 teams has a great D, despite the marquee names on their rosters.

Check out these defensive scoring numbers.

The Saints do allow approx 5 fewer points per game, though.

I predict that 2 of these 3 teams will meet in the SB. The overwhelming O’s cannot be stopped, IMO.

Without Kupp, Rams more well rounded??

Kupp was a huge loss, would have been great to have him last night, but I can see that without him the Rams are utilizing the TE position more and Reynolds is also playing well.

So this offense might be more unpredictable now since Goff sometimes forced it to Kupp on 3rd down.

Now imagine how great this offense could be next year with all the pieces in place?

Probably no need to add any skill players next year. Maybe an OL for depth, then draft CBs & S and LB & DL depth.

Did Gurley hurt his back? Ankle - Per McVay

I have no solid evidence but i could have sworn this would be the topic during the game and after but no-one seemed to pick it up besides the 2 guys i was watching the game with. That one outside run to the right where he got tackled by the legs and got bent awkwardly is the play I'm talking about. After that play he wasn't in the following play and only was in the next drive maybe 2 plays. Later in the 3RD QT when they were showing mcvay talking to the offense Gurley was nowhere to be found....he was off to the side and i saw mcvay lip to him....hows your back..... gurley looked to brush it off and say I'm good but it was deff. telling to me and the guys that i was with that something wasn't right.....yes he was in there for blocking and a decoy and receiving but maybe he could bend over to run it......like i said idk i hope I'm wrong but i think it was a very quiet injury that I'm shocked wasn't broadcasted? anyone tape the game and see what we saw????? But anyway the game was great glad we are getting talib back now and that we have a bye week to have a little bit of a break....not having a bye this late in the year is very tough so hopefully mcvay gets these guys some rest and back to work when we need to be ready.............EDIT....SORRY THE TITLE MEANT TO SAY GURLEY......STUPID IPHONE

Sign Earl Thomas

The Rams need a safety with sideline to sideline speed and great instincts.

I know Thomas isn’t young, and likely headed to Dallas but they could have used a player like that covering deep against the Chiefs. .

I don’t know if there is anyone comparable coming out in the draft but it’s clearly a need imo.

It’s also clear that Snead and Wade need to gear this defense towards being able to slow down the Chiefs for the next few years.

What did you learn from week 11?

Well there we go, what a fantastic win, everyone thought it was going to be a shoot out and it was, bu what did you all lear from this historic win? Here's my points:

1. Our O can slug it out with the best of them, but I still think that our Red Zone attack needs improvement - I know we scored 54, but we missed a couple of TDs.

2. Donald and our D - what a beast of a game Donald had, also I must send appreciation for Ebukam and Peters.

3. McVay and his time management at the end?!?! WTF?!?! Why on earth didn't we waste more time at the end???

4. Our TEs are coming into their own at the right time, it's given us another angle to our attack - it doesn't matter who you mark, we can scheme someone open.

5. Gurley - very quiet in this game, I hope he'd not dinged up :-/

Goff Showed Me Something Special Tonight

Goff truly has made a quantum leap from last year to this year. We are winning close games and Goff is making plays. The pass to Gerald Everett was amazing and in a clutch situation. I think Goff has made a huge leap from last year to this year where I can feel Iike we can win any game that's close. It also keeps us within reach of home field advantage if the saints slip up.

And we get Taib back in two weeks. I'm stoked.

McVay needs an intervention

He calls a great game for the most part and puts guys in positions to make plays. Guys clearly like playing for him and he’s clearly a pain in the ass to defensive coordinators....

but man, this thing with not giving Gurley the ball when we are trying to chew clock and ice the game is crazy. He’s done this a few times now, going back to last year, where he can give it to Gurley and run out the clock, but he chooses instead to throw the ball. I appreciate the aggressiveness but there is no need to make it harder than it needs to be. Gurley is a beast and guys get tired to tackling him late. He got lucky it didn’t cost him tonight.

Where is D'marco Farr?

I thought it was maybe because this game was scheduled in Mexico City before the change. All week in Colorado, Serena replaced him on Between the Horns, and Mailbag. Listening to ESPNLA 710, Farr wasn't mentioned as being part of the announcing crew. Why would he be missing on one of the biggest nights of the regular season?
