Jets release OL Kelechi Osemele day after surgery, Any interest?

Offensive lineman Kelechi Osemele, who on Friday underwent shoulder surgery, was released by the Jets on Saturday, the team announced.
Osemele's surgery and whether it was needed was a point of contention between the lineman and the New York training staff. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who reported the surgery went well on Friday, added after the release that the move comes in lieu of the Jets placing Osemele on injured reserve and that "grievances will follow."
Osemele was in his first season in New York after three years with the Raiders, two of which ended with Pro Bowl selections.
In a corresponding move, the Jets announced they promoted linebacker James Burgess from the practice squad.

He probably could be had on the cheap, wonder what kind of surgery it was? If it wasn't nothing crazy maybe bring him in cheap as depth?

Can the Rams keep pace in wild NFC West?

It worked so well the first time, the Rams chose to replicate their 2017 London itinerary as closely as possible. After staying in the Eastern Time Zone through Thursday’s practice in Atlanta, the team took a red-eye to London, arriving Friday morning.

In Sean McVay’s first season, the Rams connected a road win in Jacksonville with a 33-0 trouncing of Arizona in the U.K. Might Cincinnati be in for a similar fate?
“Came [to London] the same time, kind of kept a very similar schedule,” the head coach said after Friday’s practice at The Grove. “We’re hopeful for a very similar result.”

By the Bye
Currently situated at eighth in the NFC framework, notching consecutive wins away from home before the bye would be huge for a team that just a week ago was trying to fight off a three-game losing skid. Given the schedule they’ve played, the miles they’ve logged, and the injuries they’ve overcome, 5-3 would be a sizeable accomplishment. But it would also set the stage for an incredible second half.

Under Sean McVay, the Rams are 4-0 going into and coming out of a bye.
It feels like this edition of the Rams is poised to peak at the right time and play meaningful football down the stretch. But stubbing their toe against the 0-7 Bengals is not an option.

Win it For Whit
Very cool note from Travis Langer, of award-winning Rams P.R. department fame, about left tackle Andrew Whitworth. Sunday, he has a chance to be the 12th starter in NFL history to defeat all 32 franchises.

Big Whit has been very transparent about how his tenure in Cincinnati ended after 11 seasons. And his teammates want this one for him.Tight end Gerald Everett told me on this week’s Rams Revealed, “He hasn’t said a word about it, but that’s one of those unspoken things; we definitely want to get that done.”

Right on Targets
Another topic we covered was the stark contrast between the first and second halves Everett played in his hometown of Atlanta. Many of you noticed the disconnect with Jared Goff early on, as the third-year tight end was targeted seven times but caught just one. After the break, however, he hauled in all three passes thrown his way, including a 33-yarder and a touchdown.

“You know, I don’t think anything changed. Just having that confidence in each other,” Everett said of getting on the same page with Goff at the half. “Wherever he puts it, I’m going to try my best to go get it. And I just want him to be able to let it go without any doubt.”The top three games of Everett’s career in terms of targets have all come in the past four weeks.

British Royal-tie
The Bengals have only played one London game in their history, and it was a 27-27 tie in 2016… versus Washington and offensive coordinator Sean McVay.

It remains the only tie in the NFL’s International Series.Zac Taylor was the offensive coordinator at the University of Cincinnati that season (Bearcats, not Bengals). He would join McVay in Los Angeles a few months later.

Taylor is still in search of his first NFL head coaching win, something McVay hopes is right around the corner, back in the United States.“I think if there is anybody that is meant to handle a little bit of adversity the right way as a leader with a consistency approach, to continue to just battle and come on the right end of it, I think it’s Zac,” McVay said of his former receivers and quarterbacks coach.

“Hopefully, he’ll get that thing going after this week.”The Bengals will also take their bye after returning from London. Their schedule resumes with a trip to Baltimore in Week 10.

Mundt Force

One of the revelations of the Rams being more multiple with their offensive personnel lately has been the blocking ability of Johnny Mundt. At 233 pounds, he’s the lightest of the Rams trio, but that didn’t stop him from pancaking Vic Beasley last week. And according to Pro Football Focus, he graded even better in pass protection.

What About Woods
Robert Woods has a rushing touchdown this season, but the fact that we’re almost at the midway point and he doesn’t have a receiving score is a statistical stunner. Then again, it wasn’t until his eighth game as a Ram that he caught his first touchdown, and he had two that day in New York. So perhaps 2019 has something similar in store for Woods in Week 8.Never has he endured an eight-game drought within a season.

Bengals Rushing Disparity
As previously noted, the Taylor Era in Cincinnati is not off to the best start. In particular, they’re getting crushed in the running game on both sides of the ball.
In seven contests the Bengals have rushed for 372 yards. They've allowed 1,323. You will not be surprised to learn that those figures are last in the NFL. For analytic context, per NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Cincinnati rushers have been stuffed on 31.3% of their attempts, easily the highest rate in the league.

The Rams have been much-improved against the run in 2019, and a stout performance this weekend could solidify them as one of the league’s top defenses going into the second half of the season.

Shutdown Corner Candidates
Unlike last week, when Jalen Ramsey was charged with shadowing future Hall of Famer Julio Jones, there doesn’t appear to be a true No. 1 right now for the Bengals.

A.J. Green has yet to play this season and has been ruled out for Sunday. John Ross is on injured reserve. That leaves Tyler Boyd as Cincinnati’s primary receiver. So perhaps that’s where Ramsey will gravitate.

It’s interesting in this regard, though: The NFC West is seen as a division without an All-Pro wide receiver.

Much as we love Cooper Kupp, Brandin Cooks, and Woods, here’s where rival receivers rank league-wide in receiving yards per game this season:
SEA Tyler Lockett – 20th
ARI Larry Fitzgerald – 30th
ARI Christian Kirk – 34th
See what I mean?

Sunday could actually provide some insight as to how Wade Phillips might deploy Ramsey against more evenly distributed receiving corps like those in San Francisco, Seattle, and Arizona.

How Will The West Be Won?
Quick word about that division race to finish. The NFC West goes into Week 8 as the only division in the NFL without a losing team. Six divisions have multiple teams with losing records.Meantime, the 49ers, Seahawks, Rams and Cardinals have combined for an 18-8-1 start, and three of those losses were head-to-head.

Game Preview: Rams, Bengals square off in London

Game Preview: Rams, Bengals square off in London

The Rams (4-3) face the Bengals (0-7) in Los Angeles' first regular season game at Wembley Stadium since 2012. Cincinnati, meanwhile, is still seeking its first win of the season.

To get you ready for the contest, theRams.com compiled a quick preview featuring who to watch, what to watch for on offense and defense for both the Rams and the Bengals and three keys to victory for L.A.

Five players to watch
  • Rams RB Darrell Henderson Jr.: With Malcolm Brown ruled out, Henderson will back up starter Todd Gurley again this weekend.
  • Rams CB Darious Williams: He's the next man up if Troy Hill (hamstring) is unable to play.
  • Bengals RB Joe Mixon: The AFC's leading rusher last season hasn't been able to replicate his 2018 form so far. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said this week that it's "frustrating" they haven't been to get the run game going, so perhaps there will be more of an emphasis to do so against the Rams.
  • Bengals WR Tyler Boyd: A former TCU standout, Boyd has been QB Andy Dalton's top target while A.J. Green has been sidelined with an ankle injury.
  • Rams S Eric Weddle: Despite the injuries they've endured, the Bengals have still managed to produce the NFL's 12th-best passing offense in 2019. Communication in the secondary will be key, and that starts with Weddle.

What to watch for…

On offense for the Rams

What Henderson can contribute.

Brown will miss his second straight game due to an ankle injury, opening the door for more snaps for Henderson for the second week in a row. Henderson's ability to break tackles as a runner and contribute as a receiver made him a valuable part of the offense last Sunday against the Falcons, so it will be interesting to see what his role is and the extent to which the flow of the game dictates it.

On offense for the Bengals

Highlighted earlier in this piece, it's whether Mixon and the ground game can make an impact.

Mixon has 254 rushing yards entering Week 8, while Cincinnati is averaging just 53.1 yards per game as a team. By this same time last year, Mixon had double the rushing yardage total, while Cincinnati averaged 33.2 more yards per contest.

He has the talent to produce at a higher level – will the Bengals make a point to get him established on Sunday?

On defense for the Rams

Weddle mentioned last week that only 30 percent of the Rams' defense was installed for Jalen Ramsey's debut.
Now that Ramsey has had an additional week to learn it, it will be worth watching to see how his increased familiarity with L.A.'s concepts and schemes impacts what he'll be able to provide on Sunday.
On defense for the Bengals

Who steps up at cornerback.

Starter Dre Kirkpatrick and reserve Darqueze Dennard have both already been ruled out in advance of Sunday's game.

Three keys to victory
  1. Limit the Bengals' passing game: As mentioned before, it's a top 15 unit with Mixon, Boyd and TE Tyler Eifert still healthy.
  2. Capitalize on chances in own passing game: Cincinnati allows the 16th-most passing yards per game at 241.9, so Los Angeles will have its chances but they won't come easy.
  3. Run the ball: The Bengals allow a league-high 189 rushing yards per game.

Considering we are 5-3 after beating the Bengals..

Assume we stay healthy, and maybe even get a new Guard to return us to our former Glory, or plug in Corbett or Evans.

We could run the table or at least win 6 or 7 of 8.

Steelers are a shell of themselves

Bears lost secondary starters and Aheem Hicks and are no longer a shutdown defense, Trubibsky sucks.

Ravens defense is poor, you have to shut down Jackson from running. Donald and Rapp spying. possible loss.

Cardinals twice - their Oline still sucks

Seattle - Overated

Niners - tough game. we will have reinforcements of Talib and Matthews.
Our oline reinforced.

Cowboys- may be a tough game. They are hot and cold.

I see us at 12-4 or 11-5

Week 8 2019 - Game Day Menu for our London Rams ...

Being an early game time here on the West Coast (of the U.S), i'm going to keep it simple with a celebratory British staple of Bangers & Mash, now as an after game lunch. I'll pan fry the sausages, make a traditional onion gravy with Camden Pils in the recipe, and my own version of 'smashed' potatoes. Will wash it all down with Stella & more Camden Pils.
I was considering ordering in some Indian, but my favorite Indian restaurant doesn't start delivering until much later in the afternoon, so that gets put on hold until mid-week.

So who is doing Fish n Chips ?

Rams hope to get Clay Matthews back after Week 9 bye

gettyimages-1174884915.jpg

By: Cameron DaSilva | 1 hour ago

Clay Matthews has been sidelined ever since he broke his jaw on a freak play against the Seahawks in Week 5. His initial timetable to return was 4-6 weeks with Sean McVay saying he’d be out “at least a month.”
Nearly three weeks removed from the day he was first injured, Matthews remains on track with that recovery timeline. McVay provided an update on Matthews Friday, saying the Rams hope to get their sack leader back after the Week 9 bye.

“Clay going to continue to be out, we’re hopeful to get him back after the bye,” McVay said from London.
Matthews had six sacks in his first five games with the Rams, quickly surpassing his 2018 total of 3.5 with the Packers. His resurgence was a welcome surprise for the Rams, which made his injury such a big blow to the defense.
When he returns, though, he’ll take back his starting job from Samson Ebukam, who doesn’t yet have a sack this season.

Aaron Donald Emerges As One Of NFL’s Most Marketable Players

Aaron Donald Emerges As One Of NFL’s Most Marketable Players
By
Michael McCarthy

Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams is emerging as the modern-day Mean Joe Greene in more ways than one.Like the ex-Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Famer before him, Donald reigns as the NFL’s best defensive player. Also like Mean Joe, the 28-year old defensive tackle is one of the few defensive stars to become a sought-after endorser by major brands.

Most NFL endorsement deals flow to quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Tom Brady of the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. But the back-to-back NFL Defensive Player of the Year has scored deals with Pizza Hut, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Electronic Arts, Dr. Teal’s and electric car maker Karma Automotive.

The Pittsburgh native is also poised to land another big deal in his hometown, said sources. Although he plays across the country for the NFC Champion Rams, the city has embraced the former local high school football and Pittsburgh Panthers star as one of their own.

With Pizza Hut in its second season as the league’s official pizza sponsor, the company signed Donald this summer. He was chosen to be the face of its new “Order Pizza Hut, Play Hut Hut Win” sweepstakes this season.

The pizza chain has aired several national TV spots starring Donald and Rams teammate Todd Gurley. Pizza Hut uses an array of players as pitchmen, including JuJu Smith-Schuster of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tyler Lockett of the Seattle Seahawks.

“Aaron’s an incredible player on the field, and an even better guy off of it, down to earth and well respected by his peers – all things we gravitate towards as a brand. His personality is a perfect fit for our brand and we’ve had a lot of fun with him so far,” Rachel Meyer, Pizza Hut’s director of brand marketing, said in a statement. “I think that really comes through when you see him in our TV ads and also with what we have planned for him later this year and into the offseason.”

This December, Donald will star in one of Pizza Hut’s “Homegating” episodes, where he and some teammates watch Monday Night Football while noshing on pizza and wings.Donald loves ping pong, according to Meyer. During the off-season, Pizza Hut will sponsor a ping pong match between Donald and a fan in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Donald and Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten have signed on as the newest promoters of Dr. Teal’s Epsom Salt Soaks muscle recovery product.

The 6-1, 280-pound Donald posted a sponsored Dr. Teal’s video to his Instagram account overturning what looks like a giant monster truck tire. “My Dad used to tell me: ‘If man made it, man can lift it,’” he says in the video.

In addition, Donald has also signed a deal with Karma Automotive, which designs and manufactures $100,000-plus electric vehicles in his adopted home of Southern California. Karma custom designed Donald’s $130,000 Karma Revero. His wheels featured a “Mar Pacifico” exterior and “Midnight Dune Twist” 22” alloy wheels with red calipers.

For an added touch of luxury, Karma delivered the new car directly to his house in Los Angeles. The football superstar is about to upgrade to the new Revero GT, according to Matthew Clarke, vice president of marketing for the Irvine, Calif-based startup.“It’s great to be aligned with a local hero,” said Clarke. “There’s a bit of synergy there too. He was, and probably still is in some respects, a bit of an underdog in his position. He’s excelled the last (few) years.”

Over the past two years, Donald has “become one of the faces of the NFL,” said agent Bob Philp of CAA Sports, which represents him on and off the field.Donald’s national profile only rose after his formerly lowly Rams went all the way to the Super Bowl 53 in February before falling to Brady and the Patriots.

“Beyond his accomplishments on the field as a five-time pro bowler and two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Aaron’s personality, relatability, and humility have enabled him to transcend the position he plays,” said Philp. “Brands are excited to align with him.”Yes, most corporate sponsorship deals for NFL players go to offensive players. But it’s not unheard of for defensive stars like J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans or Richard Sherman of the San Francisco 49ers to land national endorsements, noted Jeff Diamond, the former Minnesota Vikings executive turned sports business consultant.
“J.J. has done pretty well. I can see Aaron Donald certainly cashing in with endorsements,” said Diamond. “Not that he needs it very badly at $24 million a year or whatever he’s making.”

Diamond’s referring to the 6-year, $135 million extension with the Rams that Donald’s CAA player agents Todd France and Brian Ayrault negotiated in August 2018. His new contract will pay him more than $22 million a year. The pact also included a $40 million signing bonus – and $87 million in guaranteed money.

It’s the richest deal for a defensive player in league history, according to NFL.com. But it would be tough to argue he doesn’t deserve it. In a poll of fellow NFL players, Donald was named the best player in the league, according to NFL Network. Even Donald was surprised by that honor.
“Number 1… a D-tackle, huh?” he asked.

What the hilarious Bengals fans are saying

Apologies it’s been a few weeks since I’ve done this. My wife and I have a 23 day old baby and it’s a little hard to do well, anything.

Let the laughter commence.

38-14 Rams win in London.
______________________________
My predictions :

1. Rain in London

2. Aaron Donald could have 5 sacks vs. Redmond and Price

3. Mike Brown will pick up a nice Buckingham Palace snowglobe at half price at Heathrow Airport

4. Marcus Peters could have 3 ints of Andy Dalton

5. Zac Taylor may apply for asylum and hole out at the US Embassy rather than return to the 'Nati

6. If its raining on grass at Wembley Stadium and you cannot run the ball (hello Joe, Gio and OL) then its a looonnggg day

7. 0-8 ...i pray its not a total blowout as the Rams this year are down a notch on offense

8. We will all laugh our asses off when the TV coverage continually talks abut the 'Master' (McVay) and the 'apprentice' (Taylor)

I will also spend the whole game damn glad i did not get a ticket as they sold out super quick (live in U.K)

Is it too late to flex this?!! I have followed the Bengals for a long time, and I think this team is in such disarray, they may call a personal foul on the Bengals bench for fighting each other during the game. My prediction is, its so bad, Finley finishes the game it will be such a blowout. What a shame.

I predict the Bungles will commit atrocities so vile that after the game all MPs will draft a multi-partisan article pre-dating the Declaration of Independence forfeiting any claim to these here colonies and their tea. Our proud nation and its people could never have given rise to something so truly horrid as these Bungles of Cincinnatus."

Rams 67, Bungles (sound of wet farts and dry heaves).

Finley throws for 200 yards and 1 TD.

Rams of LA: 41
Wankers of 'Nati: 13

Sean McVay on facing former assistant Zac Taylor

Sean McVay on facing former assistant Zac Taylor: "You don't want to overthink it"

ATLANTA – Before becoming the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals this season, Zac Taylor spent the past two seasons working alongside Rams head coach Sean McVay, first as an assistant wide receivers coach in 2017, then as quarterbacks coach in 2018.

“He’s a great coach," McVay said. "He’s done an excellent job for us when he’s been with us."

McVay recognizes why the familiarity is a storyline as the two teams prepare to face each other in London. However, he believes the best approach to take is to stick with his gut when it comes to prep work and playcalling.

It’s an understandable one, too, considering he found himself in the exact same situation two years ago.

During his first season as the Rams head coach, he faced the Redskins in Week 2 after spending the previous three seasons as Washington’s offensive coordinator.

“Their offense was very similar,” McVay said. “You almost realize sometimes you try to give too much information. It ends up thinning out and watering down things when you still have to play your call, make a reactionary check. So, I think we’re mindful of the things that maybe he would be able to help out with and adjust those, so that it’s not exactly what they anticipate.”

At the same time, calls still have to be made and those decisions shouldn’t involve overthinking, according to McVay.

“You don’t know when we are going to do it and then there’s a call that they have to react to on defense as well or on offense,” McVay said. “Those are the things I kind of learned when we played Washington in a very similar situation.”

Taylor also likely has some sense of familiarity of defensive coordinator Wade Phillips’ scheme, having practiced against it for two years.

Like McVay, Phillips maintained being confident in the playcalls. While minor changes are expected to be made, it’s no different than any other game – execution of the Rams’ own concepts is pivotal.

“You have to do what you do well no matter what,” Phillips said. “But, you have to change a few things as far as when you call things or things like that. You have to play what you play and play it well enough so they can’t run things against you. It’s always that case whether they’ve been with you or not.”

That Week 2 game in 2017 between the Redskins and the Rams ended in a 27-20 Redskins victory, evidence that a coach facing his former employer didn’t create as big of an advantage as potentially perceived.
While the Rams have already made some small adjustments, one thing that won’t change is sticking to what they know best.

“He does know a lot of stuff, not only about me but about our whole offense and our whole team,” Rams QB Jared Goff said. “With that being said, we have changed a lot in the last six to nine months. Since he was here, we’ve changed defensively, offensively, schematically at times. There is the thoughts that he will be a step ahead of us, but we’re going to go out and play our game."

The Tom Brady Conspiracy

https://www.google.com/amp/s/profoo...dy-leaves-the-patriots-where-would-he-go/amp/
If Tom Brady leaves the Patriots, where would he go?

Ever since the Patriots and quarterback Tom Brady agreed to a contract extension that isn’t really a contract extension and Brady put his house in Boston up for sale, some have been speculating that Brady won’t be back in New England next year. On Monday night, ESPN’s Adam Schefter did more than speculate that 2019 could be Brady’s last year in New England.

Schefter may simply be throwing a bone to Brady and/or to agent Don Yee in order to generate interest elsewhere and/or to create leverage to get Brady a better deal in New England for 2021. Or maybe Brady really is thinking about leaving.

But it’s one thing to leave. The question becomes where would he go?

As we’ve previously mentioned, his star power would make pursuing him a brilliant business decision, for any team. For Brady, what kind of football decision would it be?

Brady has acknowledged that the Patriots currently have the best defense of his 20 seasons with the franchise. And Bill Belichick is the greatest coach of all time, in any sport. Where would Brady find anything even remotely close to that?

Look around the league. Which team, in 2020, would both need a starting quarterback and would give Brady anything remotely close to what he currently has? The closest match comes in New Orleans, where Drew Brees would (in theory) retire and Brady would arrive for a season, with Teddy Bridgewater then possibly leaving as well, perhaps for New England.

Beyond that, there’s no clear match. Other possibilities, in theory, include the Chargers for a year in the new L.A. stadium, the Titans, where Brady would work with close friend Mike Vrabel, the Raiders for their first year in Las Vegas, and the Broncos as John Elway’s ultimate personnel Hail Mary pass.

Still, none of these spots would be better for Brady’s chance to add to his legacy than remaining right where he is. And given that he always says his favorite Super Bowl championship is the next one, he likely won’t be looking to make a last-year money grab that doesn’t include a stacked deck that would help him get what could be his eighth championship.

We all hate this guy, but is much ado about nothing or does this have legs?

Predict the Score- Week 8 London Calling

Congrats to @TK42-RAM For winning the contest last week.

So the Rams finally got off the snide and left Mercedes Benz Stadium with a W over the Falcons. But after staying in Atlanta for a few days they are off to London for a (cough cough) home game against Andy Dalton and the winless Bengals. Who, pray tell, comes out of Wembley with a win this week?

This weeks contest prize will be paid out using the conversion rate of pound sterling to US Dollars, making the closest guess prize of $3000 worth $3853 rod credits and the exact score prize, of $6000 ,should somebody get that lucky, worth 7706 rod credits

Jalen Ramsey reportedly paid hefty sum to acquire jersey number from new Rams teammate

According to NFL.com, Ramsey shelled out $20,000 to buy the number from Hill, and Hill definitely didn't waste any time in accepting the deal. Ramsey was already wearing the new number during his first practice with the Rams, which took place just two days after the trade.

How Rams WRs are making up for Rams' lack of deep passes

usatsi_13546515.jpg

By: Cameron DaSilva | 6 hours ago

One of Jared Goff’s strengths last season was throwing deep passes. He completed 46% of his throws 20-plus yards downfield in 2018, which was fourth-best among qualified quarterbacks, according to Inside Edge. His passer rating of 109.7 on such passes was also fourth-best in the league.
This season has been a completely different story.

He’s completed just 4 of 21 passes 20 yards downfield (19%), which is the second-lowest mark in the league. Only two quarterbacks (Josh Allen and Ryan Fitzpatrick) have a worse passer rating on deep passes this season than Goff’s 38.2.
The deep passes that were so common last season have been almost non-existent this year, but fortunately, Goff’s receivers are making up for it in other ways. According to Pro Football Focus, Cooper Kupp leads all wide receivers with 289 yards after the catch, and Robert Woods ranks fourth at the position with 212 yards after the catch.

Considering Kupp has 572 yards and Woods has 435 yards this season, their numbers after the catch are impressive. It also says a lot about where Goff is throwing the football. He’s not connecting on long throws, which has led to more underneath passes which get the ball into his receivers’ hands more quickly.

This play is an example of Kupp making something out of very little. He turned a simple slant route into a 66-yard gain, which was surprisingly not ruled a touchdown after review.

Woods doesn’t gain as many yards after the catch on this play as Kupp did in the one above, but he did pick up an additional 10 after making the grab and breaking two tackles.

As a team, the Rams rank third in the NFL in yards after the catch with 873, trailing only the Chargers (879) and Chiefs (1,097). If Goff continues to struggle with the deep ball, he has to hope his receivers pick up big yardage after the catch like they have been.

Rams are 'going to be patient' with Kenny Young, Austin Corbett

Jalen Ramsey was the headliner from the Los Angeles Rams’ three trades last week, but they also acquired two other players who could contribute as early as this season. The first was offensive lineman Austin Corbett, the No. 33 overall pick in the 2018 draft.

The Browns gave up on the second-year player by sending him to the Rams for a 2021 fifth-round pick, which is a small price to pay for a player with that sort of draft pedigree.

And then there’s linebacker Kenny Young, who was part of the package for Marcus Peters. He was a starter for the Ravens earlier this season but was benched for two games due to poor play. A fourth-round pick out of UCLA, the Rams are familiar with his game.
Yet, as talented as these two players might be, Los Angeles is going to take it slow with both. They were both inactive on Sunday against the Falcons as they try to get up to speed at their respective positions.

Sean McVay said Wednesday that Corbett and Young are making progress, but with limited practice time, there’s only so much evaluating the Rams can do.
“They’re coming along. It’s a little bit more difficult when you just look at the way that we’ve had to practice right now. It’s hard to truly evaluate them from a physical standpoint,” McVay said. “This will really represent the first opportunity since last week that we are able to physically get guys out there, do some work where they seem like they’re picking things up mentally. But, there’s been so much going on in a short period of time. I think that’s going to be a process that we’re going to be patient with.”

Young has a clearer path to playing time than Corbett right now. Troy Reeder has supplanted Bryce Hager as the starter next to Cory Littleton, but his play hasn’t been all that great, either. If Young progresses enough, he could become a starter by season’s end.

On the interior of the offensive line, Brian Allen is the starting center and David Edwards has replaced the injured Joe Noteboom at left guard. Edwards played well in his first start, but Allen continues to struggle, as does Austin Blythe.

The Rams probably won’t replace any of the three right now, but Corbett is a starting-caliber player who could rise the depth chart as the season goes on.

Window Air Conditioners

Might not seem the right time of year for this but if buying used it is a good time of year. I always have a spare or two in case the central unit craps out. They are real cheap where I live. A small new looking one maybe 5-10 years old can be bought for $20. Even the largest are less than $50. If looks don't matter I've even seen them at the curb for free. The other good news is apparently they are still made well according to Consumer Reports- https://www.consumerreports.org/win...ost-and-least-reliable-room-air-conditioners/

"When temperatures rise, a broken air conditioner can make tempers flare. So it’s good news that a recent Consumer Reports survey of its members shows that room air conditioners—both window and portable—are among the most reliable products we test.
In fact, all nine brands of window air conditioners and 3 of 7 brands of portable ACs in the survey earn our highest mark—a rating of Excellent—for predicted reliability. (The other four portable brands also receive a favorable mark—a Very Good rating.) That means you’re likely to get an air conditioner that lasts when you buy one from Amana, Danby, DeLonghi, Friedrich, Frigidaire, GE, Haier, Hisense, Honeywell, Kenmore, LG, Whirlpool, or Whynter."

I don't have any experience with the portable units but it looks as though they are not too bad either.

For those of you out west especially in the hot and dry areas you are lucky that swamp coolers will work much better than in the rest of the US and use much less power. From http://www.lumacomfort.com/blog/does-evaporative-cooler-work/

"When trying to decide if an evaporative cooler will be effective your area, first look at the humidity level. Generally speaking, the lower your relative humidity, the more effective your evaporative cooler will be. The map below shows general areas in the US where evaporative coolers are most effective. Areas labeled “A” are optimum for evaporative swamp coolers, while those labeled “B” are less than ideal, but can still be good.

Areas like the East Coast are unfortunately less than ideal conditions for an evaporative cooler. Evaporative coolers can still be useful here, however! Units like our EC45S Tower Cooler can act as a simple tower fan or even a humidifier, making it very useful – even on the East Coast.
The below chart shows the estimated temperature change you can expect from an evaporative cooler, depending on the relative humidity and current temperature. Just note that this assumes you have the proper size evaporative cooler for your room.
