Cam anyone?

On a cheap Winston type deal? I think it would be a great move. If Goff gets hurt or to run some short yardage plays. Wouldn't break the bank and I agree with the article.

Josh Reynolds expected to be more involved in offense in 2020

Josh Reynolds expected to be more involved in offense in 2020

The Rams wouldn't have traded wide receiver Brandin Cooks had they not felt confident in Josh Reynolds' abilities, according to head coach Sean McVay.

Consequently, McVay and Rams teammates view Reynolds as a capable replacement for Cooks and expect him to have a bigger role in the offense in 2020.

"I approach it the same way I was approaching when Brandin was there," Reynolds said on a video conference Monday. "Just get better a day at a time, trying to understand this offense more and more so ultimately I can be in a position to make plays. But it does show a lot of trust in me, so I'm glad I was able to build that trust with the team."

Indeed, the former Texas A&M standout has shown he can be a dependable target for quarterback Jared Goff and the Rams offense.

When wide receiver Cooper Kupp suffered a season-ending ACL injury in November 2018, Los Angeles looked to Reynolds as the next man up. Those new opportunities led to the best statistical season of his career: 29 receptions for 402 yards and five touchdowns.

When Cooks prematurely exited the game against the Bengals in London due to injury last season, the Rams' called Reynolds' number, finishing with three receptions for 73 yards – including a 31-yard touchdown catch.

Overall, Reynolds has not missed a regular season game through his first three years in the league, with 11 starts under his belt entering Year 4.

"Josh has played a lot of snaps and we've been out there together, gone through games together, we came in together," Kupp said on an April 9 video conference. "So we obviously get along great. Really excited about him being able to step into a bigger role and be able to be consistently out there (on the field)."

"He's a guy that we have a lot of confidence in," McVay said.

Even when he was the fourth wide receiver in the rotation behind Cooks, Kupp and Robert Woods, Reynolds was still viewed as a starter by McVay and his teammates. Reynolds admitted it was tough patiently waiting for a larger part in in the offense, but he made the most of that time.

"After that first year, I had seen the bigger picture and so it stopped being as hard," Reynolds said. "I took that time to focus on the team and myself."

That picture is now clearer: 2020 appears to be shaping up to be a big one for him.

"Josh is a guy we anticipate being a big-time part of this offense," McVay said.

Does Marshall Faulk Come to Mind?

I was a huge Marshall Faulk fan back in the day. To this day he's the best running back I've ever watched. His spin move defied logic. Pulling a spin move without losing speed, momentum, or balance is a gift very few running backs have. But Clyde Edwards-Helair has a nasty spin move. It was on full display against Alabama.

We all loved watching Todd out there, tearing it up. The new contract we gave Todd was a mistake, as much as I agreed with it at the time. It was because of that contract and the fear of being wrong about giving it to Todd, probably made McSnead baby Todd's injury/non-injury during the year. This is no way to be when when coming down the stretch of last season. Being worried about your star back getting injured is stinkin' thinkin,' in my opinion. We should have pounded the ball with Gurley, and if he broke doing that, then so be it.

We all hear it as a cautionary tale...Running back by committee, they say. I think Cam Akers is a bell-cow back. I also am looking at him as a one contract player. We should use and abuse him, and maybe trade him regardless after 3 years. Hopefully he has great numbers and we could get draft capital for him.

Anybody else getting antsy waiting to see potential Staley packages this year?

Think McVay May get ‘exotic’ with Akers/Hendo?

Or Higbee/Everett/Hopkins?

Woods/Kupp/Jefferson?

Or mixes and matches of all of the above? Well, sure, but can you imagine what Staley’s cooking up with these toys?

Depending on field position, down, and distance we may see ‘secondaries’ ranging from 4 to 7 players! And blitzes coming from all kinds of different directions at different times. Truly a nightmare of versatility and unpredictability to confuse opposing QB’s.

That is a buttload of D talent in the hands of a young and aggressive DC. I think that this situation is what McVay kinda had in mind when he was bouncing off the walls after the Staley hire.

Can’t wait.

What is the position group you are most worried about post draft and pre TC?

I have a huge debate here in regards to this. The LB’s, more in particular the ILB’s worry the hell out of me but they got some damn good linemen in front to help with their faults.

I’d have to say the OL as a whole worries me and I can’t put my finger who will be the starting rotation for 100% certain. My gut tells me:

LT:Whit
LG: Evans
C: Corbett
RG: Edwards
RT: Havenstein

If they even have a average rated season in the teens we are playoff bound. Hoping that injury bug is done.

Packers/Rodgers Headed for Divorce?

Where is this going?

REPORT: PACKERS HC MATT LAFLEUR FED UP WITH AARON RODGERS

The Green Bay Packers’ shocking decision to trade up for Utah State quarterback Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft was apparently meant to send a message to Aaron Rodgers.

Fresh off an appearance in the NFC Championship game, Green Bay was seemingly prepared to get a pro-ready prospect who could help Rogers immediately. That obviously never came to fruition.

Instead, the Packers looked to a future without Aaron Rodgers under center. It’s a future that could come sooner rather than later.

According to Bob McGinn of The Athletic, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has grown tired of Rodgers’ act and passive-aggressive style.

“PUBLIC NICETIES ASIDE, MY SENSE IS LAFLEUR, FRESH FROM A TERRIFIC 13-3 BAPTISMAL SEASON, SIMPLY HAD ENOUGH OF RODGERS’ ACT AND WANTED TO CHANGE THE NARRATIVE. WITH A FIRST-ROUND TALENT ON THE ROSTER, THE PACKERS WOULD GAIN LEVERAGE WITH THEIR IMPERIAL QUARTERBACK AND HIS PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE STYLE,” THE REPORT READ. “IF THE PACKERS DO INDEED WANT TO BECOME A RUNNING TEAM NEXT SEASON, THEY SURELY WOULDN’T WANT RODGERS ROCKING THE BOAT AND BECOMING EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO COACH.”

This seems to be more of an indictment of Rodgersthan anything else. Remember, his relationship with former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy was strained before they fired him late in the 2018 season.

Rodgers, 36, is coming off a 2019 campaign that saw him record north of 4,000 yards with 26 touchdowns and four interceptions. The future Hall of Fame quarterback still seems to be in his prime.

Despite this, the marriage between Rodgers and his original Packers team could very well be on the brink. The 2020 campaign will be a defining one for said relationship.

Story on FA Signing Bryan London II, 3rd player from San Antonio

Hi,

The Rams signed Bryan London II out of Texas State Tuesday. He played his high school football in San Antonio at Randolph Air Force Base. He joins Malcolm Brown and Josh Reynolds as San Antonio natives on the roster. Here is a story I did on him before the draft.

Power Rankings Post Draft

.

17. Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals had the best offseason in the NFL. DeAndre Hopkins was the best player to switch teams this offseason (yes, Tom Brady switched teams, but he’s 42 and Hopkins is 27) and they famously got him for pennies on the dollar. Then they followed that up with a good 1-2 punch in the draft. Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons was a steal at No. 8 and it was a shock that Houston offensive tackle Josh Jones was available in the third round to fill a big need. It doesn’t mean Arizona will win a tough NFC West, but they have to be happy with the offseason haul. The arrow is pointing up.

15. Los Angeles Rams

The Rams were the best team in the NFL last season that didn’t make the playoffs. But that Rams roster was picked apart this offseason. Los Angeles took its shot at a Super Bowl, and the bill is coming due. We’re going to find out a lot about Sean McVay this season.

8. Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks are a team that will always win more games than it seems they should, which is a testament to Pete Carroll. And Russell Wilson, too. The draft was off the wall and free agency didn’t net many wins, but the Seahawks will still be good. They always are.

3. San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are shaking up the roster but not in a bad way. I’m not sure what goodundermining Jimmy Garoppolo is doing, but the important part is he has the players around him to succeed. The Super Bowl hangover hits everyone, but the 49ers are trying to hold it off.

Waldman suggests we went towards more gap run's at the end of last year. Can't say I watched closely enough to see that. Also seems to suggest that Henderson was a guy who came from that system and implies that we might go more gap running in the future.

I expect us to add some gap running in general - we added the toss at the beginning of the year to help counter the 6-1 - but I wonder how much gap running we'll do...

Rams on game day

I wanted to post this in this section of the forums because it directly affects many of our Rams game day experiences.
Thang being said, I’m ready to “break up” with Direct TV, which I only have to watch all of my Rams games every year.
The most popular streaming services (YouTube, Hulu, etc.) do not offer a comparable to the NFL Sunday ticket. I want to stream the games live on my TV.
What is my best option?

Brady Is Still CHEATING

That's no real surprise now is it.

We've all heard about Tom Terrific accidentally walking into the wrong house about a week ago during the required quarantine. Obviously quarantine guidelines don't apply to that pos. But...

He walked into the wrong house as he was going over to see his new OC Leftwich. That's who he did go see in his house after the mix up was figured out.

Well guess what. That cheating bastard isn't allowed to meet with Leftwich right now. Players are not allowed to meet with coaches before the official offseason activities have commenced. The cheating asshole and Leftwich are both in CLEAR VIOLATION of the CBA rules.

Multiple teams have reportedly filed official complaints with the league already because of this shit.

Fuck him. LOL

Fifth-year options around the league

Fifth-year option tracker

NFL teams have until May 4 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET to exercise fifth-year options on 2017 first-round draft choices.

The window to sign those players to contract extensions opened Dec. 30, with Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey becoming the first to get a new deal.

Some of the fifth-year option decisions are easy, and some are not so easy:

1. Myles Garrett, DE, Browns (The Browns announced April 27 they picked up Garrett’s option.)

2. Mitchell Trubisky, QB, Bears

3. Solomon Thomas, DE, 49ers

4. Leonard Fournette, RB, Jaguars

5. Corey Davis, WR, Titans

6. Jamal Adams, S, Jets (It was reported April 27 that the Jets will exercise Adams’ fifth-year option.)

7. Mike Williams, WR, Chargers

8. Christian McCaffrey, RB, Panthers (The Panthers signed McCaffrey to a four-year extension on April 16.)

9. John Ross, WR, Bengals

10. Patrick Mahomes, QB, Chiefs

11. Marshon Lattimore, CB, Saints (The Saints reportedly exercised the option on Lattimore’s contract on March 19.)

12. Deshaun Watson, QB, Texans (The Texans reportedly exercised the option on Watson’s contract on April 27.)

13. Haason Reddick, LB, Cardinals

14. Derek Barnett, DE, Eagles (It was reported April 27 that the Eagles will exercise Barnett’s fifth-year option.)

15. Malik Hooker, S, Colts

16. Marlon Humphrey, CB, Ravens

17. Jonathan Allen, DE, Washington (Washington announced April 27 it is exercising Allen’s fifth-year option.)

18. Adoree' Jackson, CB, Titans

19. O.J. Howard, TE, Buccaneers

20. Garett Bolles, OT, Broncos

21. Jarrad Davis, LB, Lions

22. Charles Harris, LB, Dolphins

23. Evan Engram, TE, Giants

24. Gareon Conley, CB, Raiders/Texans

25. Jabrill Peppers, S, Browns/Giants

26. Takk McKinley, DE, Falcons

27. Tre'Davious White, CB, Bills (The Bills announced April 23 they exercised White’s option.)

28. Taco Charlton, DE, Cowboys/Dolphins

29. David Njoku, TE, Browns (The Browns announced April 27 they picked up Njoku’s option.)

30. T.J. Watt, LB, Steelers

31. Reuben Foster, LB, 49ers/Washington

32. Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Saints (The Saints reportedly exercised Ramczyk’s fifth-year option on March 19.)

The TE dilemma.

My fandom started in 2006. It’s crazy to think how long it has already been. At any rate, the Rams drafted another TE for this seasons squad potentially as we know. I am all about having solid tight ends. But, at who’s expense? Does that mean that Johnny boy is gone?

What is even crazier to think is that I believe I have been watching the best TE since 2006 (for us) in Tyler Higbee. No, not Randy McMichael, or Jared cook. I really believe that Higbee has been our best TE since 06’. But was still blows my mind is that I feel like I like Gerald Everett better. Higbee has been more consistent without question, but Everett makes guys miss in open space all the time. Everitt is definitely more athletic, but Higbee has made some big plays as a Ram. I guess I just didn’t expect us to draft another guy at that position. Time will tell. Thoughts?

Rams kick off virtual offseason program

Rams kick off virtual offseason program

The first three weeks of the nine-week program will feature 90-minute meetings four days a week, with special teams days later on in the offseason. McVay expects all 9 weeks will be done this way, with 6 weeks virtual and 3 weeks at facility as the best-case scenario.

Rookies cannot get involved until May 11, when clubs' Rookie Football Development Programs are scheduled to begin. Other than that, though, McVay said "everybody was there" for today's meeting and that "all of our players are going to participate."

Outside of meetings, coaching staff will be communicating with Rams players to hold them accountable for workouts during the virtual offseason program, but won't be monitoring otherwise because they trust players will be responsible. Players were sent tablets as a supplemental tool to study the playbook and other lessons.

"That's a good reference point, whether it be through videos or just through you know, some of the playbook applications we have on those," McVay said. "To be able to follow along, we'll do some things like video voiceovers, that guys can use as a reference point as well. It's really beneficial for for coaches and for the players."

McVay is also seeking creative solutions to make the meetings engaging.

On Saturday, he revealed he has had conversations with Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers about ways to do so. McVay said he is looking to bring Rivers in an as a guest speaker to the team during one of its meetings this week and also hoping to connect with Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts to do the same next week.

"They say 12 minutes is that ideal timespan," McVay said of Rivers' advice. "So, we don't want to have sort of meeting block go more than 12 and 20 minutes at a time. Making sure that it's a mix of film, but also the conversation, always splicing in some TV clips is a good way, as long as they say nice things about the players from the commentary (laughs)."

From a player's perspective, believes the new format has its benefits and drawbacks.

"It's just gonna be a little tough with some guys that are more active learners that need to be on the field to learn it and have it stick in their minds and stuff," Reynolds said. "But I think ultimately it gives guys a new way to study and learn different things."

The delay due to the disconnected audio lasted only 10 minutes, according to Reynolds, but once smoothed out, the rest of the meeting went fine.

"The whole time, we were all trying to hear each other," Reynolds said, laughing. "It was definitely interesting, but good to see everybody's face."

When Clay Johnston got the call: "By God, I want to be a Ram, let's freakin' go"

When Clay Johnston got the call: "By God, I want to be a Ram, let's freakin' go"

Rams head coach Sean McVay's energy began to wane as the seventh round of the NFL Draft got underway.

Until he got on the phone with linebacker Clay Johnston, the team's selection with the 234th pick.

"When I got a call and they said, 'Do you want to be a Ram?' I said, 'By God, I want to be a Ram, let's freaking go.' I screamed and everyone was screaming, going nuts in here," Johnston said on a video conference Saturday afternoon. "Instantly put some pads on, ran through our front door, broke the windshield, it was awesome."

Wait. Did he actually run through the front door?

"No, not at all," Johnston said. "Totally fictional, I just had to say that (laughs). The way I feel right now, I don't blame you for asking that because I'm about to run through the door right in front of me right now."

"I have never experienced a call like that in my life," McVay said. "I was starting to fade a little bit in the seventh-round and this guy gave me a shot of adrenaline that I felt like I was going to put my head through a wall. This was guy was unbelievable."

Saturday's news also gave Johnston a much-needed boost, too.

On Oct. 12, he suffered a season-ending knee injury in Baylor's double-overtime win over Texas Tech, prematurely ending what was shaping up to be a promising senior season.

His 58 tackles, eight for loss, 2.5 sacks, one interception and five pass breakups in six games was good enough for second-team All-Big 12 honors from conference coaches, but it didn't ease the disappointment of not being able to help his teammates try to reach their goals.

"It sucked, honestly. I hated every second of it," Johnston said. "Becoming injured, especially with this year we had, I thought we had the chance to win the Big 12 Championship and we did and we knew that going in with our whole class. It's definitely been a test and it's just a different process."

Johnston said his knee feels great now and that he is now running at max speed and cutting at "90-95 percent" speed, but he's being smart about it. His father Kent Johnston, a longtime NFL strength coach, and international track coach Dan Pfaff have been helping him throughout his rehabilitation process.

"(My dad and I would) go work out every day, train, do some ply works, stuff like that," Johnston said. "So, it's doing a lot better and it's only going to continue to get better, Lord willing."

If his attitude on draft day wasn't enough of an indication that he's ready to work, perhaps an endorsement from former Rams safety Eric Weddle is.

When Weddle played for the San Diego Chargers, Kent Johnston was their strength coach. Weddle told ESPN's Lindsey Thiry that Clay would work out with the team when he was in high school.

"When I would go there, we'd wake up in the morning and we'd do some defensive back drills together," Clay said when asked about his relationship with Weddle. "He'd always say, 'You're going to be the young little prodigy of Eric Weddle.' So, he'd just joke around about that. It was such a blessing being able to train with him. Such a great guy, freaking love him, he works his tail off."

Weddle strongly believes Johnston will make the Rams' initial 53-man roster this fall. If Johnston's energetic attitude is any indication, there's a good chance he can.

"Ah, come on bro, yeah. I'm hyperventilating," Johnston said, when asked if he was excited to be joining the Rams. "I wanted to get under the squat rack, wanted to get some pads on. I'm freaking stoked."
