Inept CBS Sports Web Site

I just went on to CBSSports.com web site to review the Rams depth chart.

Now I realize these depth charts this time of year are often inaccurate, and to take them with a grain of salt. (For example Nate Landman is listed behind dead-man-walking Troy Reeder, and we all know Reeder probably won’t ultimately be starting) But in reviewing the offense something was missing….hmm…no Guard position players. At all. Maybe they are listed under Center, you know like interior lineman? Nope. Dotson, Avilla, etc. omitted from the depth chart.

So I thought huh. Must be an aberration. And I went into the Whiners page. Sure enough. No Guards listed. Check it out yourself.

What morons. Who’s running their site? Kind of a first-world football fan problem. But I’m calling those guys out.

Dummies. :woozy2:

That is all

Countdown to Camp: Jarquez Hunter

I like the fact McVay is talking about a rookie RB actually playing AND providing something new. Can't wait to see the reports on this kid in camp. It's great for the whole RB room. He could be pushing Corum for the #2 spot and eventually (2026?) become the #1.

My Rams Wall

So me and the wife recently moved into a new house and I was given a wall I was allowed to make my "Rams Wall" / Man-Cave Wall

Well it was empty but $20 on ebay later and a few autographs I had lyring around as well as posters and the wall is starting to come together. Lots of random autographs I got in an ebay auction, like 10 of them for $20 ($2 a piece)! I'm not cheap just frugal, lol Still have 3 I need to hang up!

But anyways here is the wall in progress. Points if you can name the player and bonus points if you can name the Wrestling autographs!

It's a small hallway so sorry if the pictures aren't the greatest.

**Also was curious to see other ROD members wall of Rams!

Wow! Robin Trower is still touring?

I just saw Peter Frampton-Let's Do It Again, last month perform non stop 2 hours and 30 mins <INDESCRIBABLE).

As a return appreciation, My Dad turns 71 on July 19th and Mr. Robin Trower and supporting band comes through Phoenix AZ on October 9th. We've seen him 3 times prior since 2005. What else does a son give his father for this kind of birthday as a present? Duh!

If he's touring through your state/city I highly recommend you go see this guitarist. He's absolutely fucking mesmerizing.

Rock on ROD \m/

Davante and puka ranked outside top 10 wr by coaches and executives

Davante Adams, Puka Nacua both ranked outside top 10 WRs by NFL coaches and executives

How low were the Rams' wide receivers ranked on this list?

Cameron DaSilva
Rams Wire

AD

As a tandem, there’s no question Puka Nacua and Davante Adams are among the top wide receiver duos in the NFL. But individually, coaches, executives and scouts don’t see either player as being one of the 10 best at their position.
ESPN polled talent evaluators from around the league on the top 10 wide receivers and neither Nacua nor Adams made the cut. They both ended up being honorable mentions in a group that includes four other receivers, but they fell short of the coveted top 10.

There’s a case to be made for both of them being ranked much higher but for whatever reason, they were snubbed.
One NFL defensive coach was shocked Nacua didn’t make the top 10, while an AFC executive said he “probably doesn’t have the high-end ability as some of the others on the list.”

"I can't believe he's not in the top 10. He's just got the 'it' factor." -- NFL defensive coach

If ESPN put the honorable mentions in order by the number of votes players received, that would make Nacua the 12th-best receiver and Adams the 16th-best – both of which are probably too low.

Here is the full top 10 from ESPN's poll.
  1. Ja'Marr Chase
  2. Justin Jefferson
  3. Tyreek Hill
  4. CeeDee Lamb
  5. A.J. Brown
  6. Amon-Ra St. Brown
  7. Malik Nabers
  8. Nico Collins
  9. Mike Evans
  10. Garrett Wilson
One NFL coordinator had this to say about Adams, who was ranked No. 5 just last season in this same poll: “When you watch him up close, he's still exactly what the classic 'X' receiver should look like."

Since the 2020 season, Adams has caught 59 touchdown passes, the most of any player in the NFL in that span. Since Nacua came into the league in 2023, he’s averaged 88.4 receiving yards per game, which is the fourth-highest of any player.
Adams has the ninth-most catches since 2023 and Nacua has the 10th-most – and that’s despite both of them playing fewer games than the only eight players with more receptions in the last two years.

After this season, it’s possible Adams and Nacua will both vault into the top 10, assuming they’re able to stay healthy and reach the high expectations everyone has for them as teammates. Big things could be

Boating

@Selassie I This should probably be a thread you start! lol But doing some research after we chatted in the cigar thread it appears my thoughts and ideas regarding boats were waaaay off.

Also a lot of my questions were very basic! Sorry about that! Lol Those prowlers look pretty freaking awesome!

Realistically I think I’d only be able to get into a 25/31 tbh. I like the fuel economy on them and the range capability. Absolutely love the quality and craftsmanship in those boats from the make and you can tell they resell very well.

A browsed the used side and there are some pretty nice ass used boats out there where you can fish and stay a a week or so on. IDK what’s the wiser choice there but I’m going to keep dipping into this.

Some thoughts going into camp about our last game

I rewatched the condensed version of the Divisional playoff game in Philadelphia a couple of days ago. Today, I wanted to watch the actual version. I wanted to remember details of the game that I thought was well played, for the most part by the Rams. Full disclosure. I turned the sound off, except for the final drive, because I didn't want to listen to Collinsworth. I was correct. It was a well played game. There were mistakes like Kyren's fumble, Stafford's fumble (which doesn't seem to draw the same ire from Rams fans as Kyren's....understandably), Limmer's mistakes, bad drops by DRob, Higbee and Puka, missed blocks by Dotson, bad angles by Curl and Kinchens on TD runs by Barkley and Hurts, Gallimore not wrapping up Barkley when he had both arms on him. But any game is going to have mistakes. What I came away with from this rewatch is despite the weather being bad, despite the mistakes I mentioned, despite being down by 7 and then 13 in the 4th quarter, those boys fought back. Again and again.

The game was 16-15 going into the 3rd quarter, then 19-15 early in the 4th. We then went down 7 with 6 minutes left in the game and gave up another TD to go down 13. But these guys didn't throw in the towel. The Eagles, Siriani and their fans knew it. It was like a prize fighter hitting an opponent with everything he has and wondering, why isn't he going down? And our defense was YOUNG. After Kyren's fumble, the D stiffened and held them to 3. After Stafford's fumble they stiffened again and held them to 3. Sure they gave up 2 long Barkley runs and the first TD, a long run by Hurts but those 2 stops kept the game in reach. And lo and behold, Stafford performed some of his magic to get within 6 and then get within 15 yards of winning it with a masterful drive at the end. The false start by Dotson killed the momentum but there were enough mistakes to go around the entire squad. My point is despite all that, we were in position to win at the end. Some might say, that's the reasoning of a loser but I don't believe that. This team is battle tested and they're still young and talented. I will be extremely disappointed if they don't play in the Superbowl next February.

Some points I want to make, not to start any debates, just express an opinion. Speights played really well. I think we will be better at that position this year. Our cornerbacks played extremely well in that game. Which explains why management didn't go out and grab a couple of CBs. Kyren fumbled again but he did some really good things in that game. He was strong in pass pro. Very strong. He had runs of 30 and 20 yards. He had 2 runs of 20 yards or more all season and managed 2 in that game. He also had a 26 yard run vs Minnesota that was called back by a Whittington holding penalty. Despite fans desire for more speed at the RB position, KW has burst and can deliver long runs. He's not going to break off any 80 yard runs but they don't happen all that often league wide anyway. I think the RB room is fine and might be really good if Hunter can earn snaps. Whittington had a crucial catch in the 4th as did Tutu. And let me add one other thing. We have found our PK. But the thing I forgot completely about until I rewatched the game. Would the result have been the same if Fiske didn't go out after 3 snaps? We'll never know.

I can't blame that game on any one bad play which is usually the case. There was enough blame to go around but there was also plenty of resolve on both sides of the ball. We expect that from an offense led by Stafford but that defense was young and showed a lot of fight. Kudos to Shula and his boys. I think that sets us up to enter this season confident (as fans) to expect improvement on a squad that is already pretty damn good. Man, I can't wait for the games to start!!!

Countdown to Camp: Puka Nacua's continued ascent, Davante Adams' arrival give Rams intriguing options at wide receiver

Countdown to Camp is a series breaking down the Rams roster by position group heading into training camp. The fourth installment examines the wide receivers.
250714_CTCWRs_16x9

Head coach Sean McVay spoke in January about wanting a more versatile offense, regardless of the health of personnel. Among the moves aligned to that vision were releasing Cooper Kupp two months later and signing Davante Adams.
Los Angeles had been accustomed to the duo of Kupp and Puka Nacua over the last two seasons. Now, a new partnership forms entering the 2025 season.
Both players excelled after the catch last season. According to Next Gen Stats, Nacua had the sixth-most in the league among wide receivers with 535; Adams had the 10th-most with 490.
The 32-year-old Adams, who said being in the Rams' building has been "rejuvenating" for him, still has plenty left in the tank, evident in OTA practices this spring and what he showed late last season.
According to Yahoo Sports analyst Matt Harmon's research, Adams had at least an 80% success rate on six different routes on the standard route tree.

Adams also remains lethal as a contested catch target in the redzone, as Rams staff writer Wyatt Miller pointed out in his research from May. His eight such touchdowns inside the 20 are most in the NFL over the last three years.

Login to view embedded media View: https://x.com/wymill07/status/1928615605499797904?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1928615605499797904%7Ctwgr%5E835d6acdc43b1666eff38f9128c709d8f73d7850%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.therams.com%2Fnews%2Fcountdown-to-camp-puka-nacua-s-continued-ascent-davante-adams-arrival-give-rams-intriguing-options-at-wide-receiver

Adams has also imparted his wisdom on Nacua and the rest of the receivers, whether it be tips on technique or ideas for the offense.
"I think the suddenness and the ability to steal leverage at the line of scrimmage has been something that he thrives on and everybody in the NFL knows that's something that is one of his greatest assets and to be able to figure that out and how that works in our route concepts and the timing of our offense," Nacua said of the advice Adams has given. "So I'd say that's been one of the biggest things."
"He's all that was advertised, everything I thought he was and what the coaches thought he was, he is," Yarber told theRams.com earlier this summer. "He's been a great leader in that room, mentoring the younger guys, being vulnerable, telling them about his struggles early on, helping them out however he can."

Meanwhile, Tutu Atwell's return will help stretch the field vertically. Yarber also said Atwell knows all the receiver spots in the team's offense.
Additionally, Jordan Whittington enters his second season having improved in "all aspects" of his game, according to Yarber. Coming off a rookie campaign in which he made the most of limited opportunities on offense, Whittington's confidence has also improved.
Collectively, the established and ascending talent make Los Angeles' wide receivers a group to watch closely in 2025.

The NFL 2nd round signing conundrum; Ferguson is SIGNED!

How signing rookie Terrance Ferguson could prove difficult for Rams

Texans contract with Jayden Higgins causing ripple effect among second round draftees
By JB Scott Jul 13, 2025, 12:56pm CDT
79 Comments / 79 New

There is an ongoing split in the NFL among second round draftees and their teams. It mostly stems from the Houston Texans agreeing to fully guarantee the contract of receiver Jayden Higgins.

Only two of 32 second round picks from this year’s NFL Draft have struck terms with their new teams. The two who have signed on the dotted line are Higgins and Carson Schwesinger of the Cleveland Browns.

The divide seems to be growing as the two teams playing in the NFL’s Hall of Fame Game—the first preseason contest of the year between the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Chargers—start training camp early. Chargers receiver Tre Harris is officially a camp holdout and Lions interior offensive lineman is expected to be in the same boat when Detroit rookies report.

How this effects the Rams:

The Los Angeles Rams announced the vast majority of their rookies signed contracts on May 10th. At the time, that left second round TE Terrance Ferguson and fourth round RB Jarquez Hunter as the open questions. Hunter and the team put his contract in the rear view mirror by the end of May, leaving just Ferguson as the only unsigned rookie.

With 30 second round picks to be signed and two already considered as virtual training camp holdouts, it is within the realm of possibility that we see Ferguson sit out the start of practices with the Rams. The learning curve is already steep at the tight end position, and a slow start to the season could increase the degree of difficulty for Ferguson to earn a significant role on the offense.

This is a storyline worth monitoring ahead of the Rams reporting to Loyola Marymount on July 22nd, which is just over a week away.

Far too early week 1 preview

He's right, it will be a huge test. And they need to get off to a faster start in 2025. But we don't know yet what 45 guys are going to be dressed for the matchup, so definitely a re-visit at the end of August will be better.

Where can we improve on defense?

We finished #26 in yards allowed last year. Yes, we had a young group who should only get better. But where?

We were #22 vs the run (3793 yards allowed) but we only gave up 13 rushing TDs, which was our second lowest the last 4 years. Maybe because we were so stout in the Red Zone (#5) with only 50% of possessions going for a TD. Better ILB play would help. Our offense could help too. Play close games and we're going to face a lot of rushing attempts. Get decent leads and we'll face a lot of second half passing.

We need to improve on passing TDs allowed too. We gave up 29 last year (only 24 in 2023; 17 in 2021). With sustained pressure, perhaps better coverage by our ILBs (or pressure from them), our secondary might be better. Again, with leads and expecting the pass should put them in a better situation. Getting to the QB more often would also help. Just 38 sacks last year, down 3 from 2023; 12 from 2021. We do have the horses there though, don't we?

We could improve on 3rd down and we haven't been very good at that the last 4 years. We were lower (40.7% conversion rate) than in 2021 and we won the SB that season. These youngsters are more experienced this year, as Shula is also, so perhaps we'll get better there. Even if it's only marginal, maintaining that great Red Zone defense will help a lot. Forcing 3's instead of allowing 7's should go a long way.

We need to get more turnovers too. We were middle of the pack last year. 10.6% of opponents drives ended in a turnover (#15). Pass pressure does a lot and that should help in this area.

Hopefully our ILB corp will be much improved, faster and more impactful and our pass rush should get better. That will help in a lot of areas in which we need to improve. If all that happens, we'll lose another coordinator to a HC job but that's something McVay has been very used to covering.

OTA Observations: RBs coach Ron Gould discusses Kyren Williams' increased explosiveness, Blake Corum and Jarquez Hunter's OTA performances

OTA Observations: RBs coach Ron Gould discusses Kyren Williams' increased explosiveness, Blake Corum and Jarquez Hunter's OTA performances

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – At the end of last season, Rams running back Kyren Williams made it clear that he wasn't satisfied with his performance in 2024.
Despite ranking seventh in the NFL in rushing yards (1,299) and tying for fifth in rushing touchdowns (14), Williams acknowledged that his lack of explosiveness and ball security were costly, vowing to improve in both areas ahead of next season.
Running backs coach Ron Gould has already noticed strides taken in those areas during OTAs, and also discussed observations from Blake Corum and Jarquez Hunter with theRams.com. When asked about the group at large, which also includes Williams, Corum, Hunter, Ronnie Rivers, Cody Schrader and Jordan Waters, Gould said he's been "pleased" with how all of the running backs have done this spring.
Williams showing improved explosiveness
Williams' 27 explosive rushes (10-plus yards) ranked tied for 11th in the NFL last season, but were the second-fewest of any running back with over 250 carries (he had 316). Meanwhile, his five fumbles tied for the second-most among running backs.
But after a few months away from the facility, Williams showed up in "exceptional shape," Gould told theRams.com.
"The first thing that stood out to us was his explosiveness," Gould said. "... One of the things (I noticed) was just his ability to stay grounded through some of his runs that was really, really evident in the work that he's put in, so really, really pleased with that."

Williams and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, have had an ongoing dialogue with the Rams' front office about a potential extension this offseason, as Williams enters the final year of his rookie deal. Still, Williams was a constant presence at voluntary workouts, sporting his signature grin and bringing the younger players up to speed.
From guiding the rest of the running back room through drills to spreading his infectious energy, vintage Williams was on full display during OTAs.
"You talk about leadership, that's what that's all about," Gould said, "So he's done a great job of uniting the guys, bringing everybody together, and making sure that we all stay on the same page."
Corum has "gotten his speed back"
After fracturing his forearm against the Seahawks in Week 18, Corum is back on the field making defenders miss. Not only is he back to full health, but he's shown improvement from last season.
"He's gotten his speed back, so his explosiveness has come back," Gould said. "We had a chance to just see that, and then his ability to come out of cuts, which is something that we saw in the junior year and part of his senior year."
Similar to Williams, Corum has displayed more explosive tendencies during training camp than he did last season. And after the Rams ranked 29th in explosive rushes last season, that's an area where they would welcome some improvement in 2025.

Hunter has excellent speed and "attention to detail"
If the Rams want more chunk gains on the ground, Hunter can provide. Last season at Auburn, the 5-foot-9, 204-pound speedster broke off 42 explosive rushes, ranking eighth in the FBS.

"His superpower is his speed, he's really fast," Gould said. "And then the second thing is, if you get the pads on you, he's a heavier guy, he's a guy who can go north and south, and he's a guy who's gonna be able to come out of a lot of tackles."
Gould has also been impressed with how quickly Hunter has picked up the offense, making "minimal mistakes" during drills and meetings.
"He's impressed me (with) his attention to detail," Gould said. "And he's a young man that's very focused on making sure he's doing exactly what we need him to do in order for him to take that next step. And then I was just very surprised at how quickly he picked up everything."

Gould doing some things differently
When asked if he's doing anything differently with the running back room ahead of 2025, Gould said, "absolutely." He wants to enable his players in grow in whatever areas the team needs them to, and sometimes that means changing things up.
"You look at what guys' strengths are, I think it starts out with me," Gould said. "I have to be better as a coach, and then if I'm better as a coach, then I think that's gonna reflect on the players."

Sounds like run game explosives is at the top of the agenda for RB room.
If we can get the oline healthy, I see no reason we can't accomplish that.
Would love nothing more than Corum and Hunter to contribute enough
to give Kyren some fresher legs come playoff time.
He had to carry to entire run game last year and that can definitely take its
toll, season and career

Ndamukung Suh Officially Retiring

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45724439/long-standout-dt-ndamukong-suh-announces-retirement

Ndamukong Suh announced his retirement from the NFL on Saturday, issuing a heartfelt statement on the first anniversary of his father's death.
Crediting his father as "my idol, my coach, and my anchor," the defensive lineman relayed what he said was the final piece of advice from his dad.

"It's time to let football go," he recalled his father saying. "You've done everything you set out to do. Now it's time for the next chapter."
"That conversation stayed with me," Suh posted in his statement on social media. "So today, one year later, I'm honoring that wish.
"I'm officially retiring from the NFL."

Suh, 38, was the No. 2 pick in the 2010 NFL draft by the Lions. He spent five seasons in Detroit (2010-14), then played for the Miami Dolphins (2015-17), Los Angeles Rams(2018), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2019-21) and Philadelphia Eagles (2022).

He has been out of football the past two seasons. He won the Super Bowl with the 2020 Buccaneers.

Suh made his presence known as a rookie, posting a career high of 10 sacks and being named an All-Pro and AP Rookie of the Year. It was the first of his three All-Pro honors, and he also was named to the Hall of Fame All-2010s team.

He made 600 career tackles and 71.5 sacks, adding one interception, five forced fumbles and nine fumble recoveries -- three returned for a touchdown. He appeared in 199 games, starting all but the eight he played with the Eagles in his final season.

"I left it all on the field, and now I'm stepping away with peace and gratitude," he said.

"Because I've been preparing for this moment for years. Football was my passion, but it was never my endgame."

He now hosts the "No Free Lunch" podcast, in which he strives to share what he's learned about "navigating life and money," he said.

Los Angeles Rams: A

Biggest move: Retaining QB Matthew Stafford
Move I liked: Receiving a future first-round pick in a draft-day trade with Atlanta
Move I disliked: Re-signing WR Tutu Atwell

The Rams' offseason was great because it involved moves that will help the team win now and later.

The offseason began with rumors that Stafford could be leaving, and the Rams granted him permission to talk to other teams to discuss his value. Though Stafford had conversations with the Giants and Raiders, he ended up re-signing with Los Angeles on a reworked deal that pays him a fully guaranteed $40 million in 2025 and a non-guaranteed $40 million in 2026. That's a good value for the team, considering Stafford's ability.

This seemed well-played by the Rams, who to some degree called Stafford's bluff. Stafford got more money from them than he previously was slated for, but they were able to keep a top quarterback at an affordable price.

The team also made two other high-priced moves to support its QB. Most notably, the Rams signed wide receiver Davante Adams to a two-year deal that averages $22 million per season (and includes $26 million fully guaranteed). At 32, Adams is not the player he once was, though he managed 2.1 yards per route run last season and his open score in ESPN's receiving metrics was a more-than-respectable 77.

There are no guarantees, but I like this move, especially coupled with the team's decision to release Cooper Kupp. He is also 32 but is three years removed from his latest 1,000-yard season. The Rams were right to move on.

L.A. also re-signed left tackle Alaric Jackson to a three-year deal that averages under $18.8 million per year with $35.4 million fully guaranteed, per Roster Management System. Jackson has become a plus starter at tackle and was above average last season in pass block win rate and run block win rate.

The Rams also scored big in the trade market. Most notably, they traded down with Atlanta on draft night in a deal that netted Los Angeles picks 46 and 242 and a 2026 first-rounder for Nos. 26 and 101. This was a big score, as the Rams came away in great shape in terms of average value but with upside for much more. If the Falcons fail this season -- which is squarely in the range of outcomes -- the Rams will have netted themselves a very high pick. And with Stafford being 37 years old, that pick could help bring them his successor.

They also pulled a coup in trading guard Jonah Jackson to the Bears. The Rams were on the hook for $8.5 million in guaranteed money out of a total $17.5 million owed to Jackson -- whom the Rams tried to move to center before he suffered an injury and was later benched. At that price, Jackson was a potential cut candidate, and if he was going to be traded, I figured the Rams would have to eat a portion of the contract.

I figured wrong. The Bears came in and gave the Rams a sixth-round pick to take Jackson and the full contract off their hands.

Not everything was perfect, though. The Rams signed Atwell to a one-year, $10 million deal that had me wondering: Who was clamoring to pay him $9 million?
