Your Favorite Breakfast

I play online Playstation with people from all over the country and a couple in Europe and it amazes me at the differences in breakfasts.

For me, I have always lived in the country in Central Missouri. Breakfast gets no better for me than making homemade biscuits and covering them in a spicy sausage gravy that I make with some nice thick cut bacon and a glass of ice cold milk.

I have friends in New York who have never heard of B&G. To them its the same as getting gravy from their country fried steak on a piece of bread...not even close, my friend.

Air Quality for Sunday's Game

I have been reading that they are monitoring the air quality in LA for Sunday's game.

They have even mentioned possibly postponing or relocation the game.

My question since I am a dumbass when it comes to engineering is that this stadium has a roof.

Wouldn't they be able to filter out some of the smoke that is over LA due to the northern Cal fires?

Rams Player Contracts - Who’s Next?

After signing Cooper Kupp to an extension (GREAT NEWS!!!) what Rams Players (John Johnson, etc) can we expect/hope to see the Rams trying to extend next? I will admit that I was very pessimistic about the Rams re-signing Jalen Ramsey to an extension and signing Cooper Kupp is an absolutely bonus!!! I don’t know how the Rams front office are getting these deals done BUT I figure that is not my concern I should just be happy they are getting them done!!!

Game Day Thread

The GDT is a live thread tradition here at ROD.

While we all get fired up watching the game, please remember our core principles; we always show respect for our team and each other.

Despite the emotional highs and lows watching a game, we will moderate this thread with that in mind, however please refrain from name calling. This applies to players, the Rams organization, and others.

This is the core rule of the GDT. Moderators are tasked to issue thread bans, at a minimum, to maintain this standard.

This is our team. Win or lose. Good days and bad. We are here for FUN, not to be dragged down.

A more loosely moderated atmosphere can be found in the chat room.

Go Rams!

Game Day Menu Thread (GDMT). What's on your menu?

Looking for some ideas here, and always enjoy seeing what others are doing. I'm keeping it simple as I have a 12 hour shift today (Saturday). Looking at doing burgers, brats, cucumbers in vinegar with hot peppers and onions (not on the bbq grill), and some taters and onions on the grill. Maybe some regular and hungarian peppers on the grill too. Plenty of Mich Ultra's and BLP's. :beer2:

Hope all my friends feast, drink good, and enjoy a Ram victory on Sunday evening. That what we work for folks. Peace. :beer2:

Man what roster changes on Teams.

Man watched U of Miami, my college team since before birth and I noticed

They had this player from that team, then another and another and so on.

Then this is this, that player had opted out etc etc. I can see it if leaving because of Covid and/or if your team isn't playing for now, Sure.

But I would think if your especially, highly rated and your Team is playing thru this mess, get out there.jmho

Btw I post this not because I miss some star players, but because, I think if they can,it's best for their future playing.

So Have fun and start predicting !!!!!!

UNDISPUTED | Eric Dickerson "bold prediction" Jared Goff, Rams will beat Dak, Cowboys in Week 1

I know some here are not necessarily (post playing days) Dickerson fans, but
I love him and he gets a permanent "get out of jail free card" from me for helping to run
fisher out of town. I actually like him better now than his Ram playing days, because of previously mentioned
reason and the way he rattles Skips cage.

Darrell Henderson good to go

Henderson practiced in full on Wednesday and Thursday, which was a good sign for his availability, and Friday’s news is confirmation that he’ll be suiting up against Dallas. He’ll join Cam Akers and Malcolm Brown as the Rams’ options at running back, with Xavier Jones and Raymond Calais likely to be healthy scratches.

Remembering 911

I remember 911 like it was yesterday. I had a summons for jury duty. As I was leaving my house, the news of the first plane was being televised. I had a 15 minute drive to the Court House in downtown Colorado Springs. As I listened on the radio, it was hitting this was no accident as first reported. The streets were empty, even for a moderately small, town.

I checked in and sat in the jury pool room on the old 4th floor of the court house. Thankfully, a buddy from HS was there. He’s a police officer and we started to talk about the news. He pointed out how the room has TVs but were all off. The radio in the room was playing elevator music. Lastly, that two guys he knew from the Sheriff Department were oddly guarding the jury door. This was well before smart phones. We sat for 4 hours in wonderment. The staff provided us with waters but no information on why nothing was happening or that no one had been called for a jury. It felt eerie as hell.

My friend, Gavin, went and talked with the two deputies. It seemed like a hour had passed before he returned. He told me in a calm voice, insisting this was just a conversation between us, that the deputies were clearing the court house floor by floor due to a terrorist attack. Since jurors were seen as non essential we would be the last to leave through screening. After some years had passed I believe it was to isolate us to ensure none of us were terrorists or would do something stupid.

When I finally got to my car, it hit me there was not an individual on the streets. There was no traffic on the highway. It was right out of a syfi movie. I tuned into 850 out of Denver and started to realize how life was changing in that moment.

When I got home I had two voice messages. One from my brother in Florida asking how I was and the other from work saying the week had been cancelled with pay. I spent the next 24-36 hours glued to the TV, occasionally nodding off for a short nap.

I can say for certain, 911 changed my life. I had already been on the path to work in Law Enforcement. I embraced giving back and supporting local public services.

My story is blah compared to millions of others, it’s just my story and what I remember. I’d love to read others here on ROD. It’s not about politics or hate. It really is my generations Pearl Harbor.
God Bless American...and The Rams Too!

John Johnson III enters fourth season as emerging leader

John Johnson III enters fourth season as emerging leader

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – On his way to a tour of SoFi Stadium, a billboard with his picture promoting the Rams' upcoming season caught safety John Johnson III's attention.

As Los Angeles gets closer to facing the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, it is one of a handful of indications of his earned leadership role on L.A.'s defense entering his fourth season.

"I've always felt like the safety should be like the quarterback of the defense," Johnson said during a video conference last week. "Oftentimes it's the linebacker, the middle linebacker, but just for me personally, you know, high school, college, I was always the leader in the back of the defense. So, like you said being with Coach (Brandon) Staley, him putting that emphasis on the safety play and us being in the center is huge. And I love it. You know, my personality, I feel like it's a perfect fit."

Johnson is no stranger to being a leader.

He was named team captain of his high school's basketball team as a sophomore and football team as a senior. He also earned the latter distinction during his senior season at Boston College. Just recently, he was named a Rams team captain for the first time.

Besides his own achievements, Johnson also has the mentorship of former Rams safety Eric Weddle to thank for putting him in the best possible position to be a leader.

Johnson's biggest takeaway from Weddle: "Being a reflection of the coordinator" and working smarter, not harder.

"Everybody's going to give a hundred percent effort, but if you could find ways to simplify the game, it makes you play a lot faster," Johnson said. "I think that's one thing that Eric gave to me, is just certain techniques that I can see something and react faster than I would in the past. Just like little tips and stuff, releasing stems and routes and formations that he gave me just to play faster and I can relay it to the whole defense as well."

A season-ending shoulder injury against the 49ers in Week 6 put a disappointing stop to what might have ended up being a promising third season. The year before, he led the team interceptions (four) and finished second in total tackles (119), including the pick in the NFC Championship which set up the game-winning Greg Zuerlein field goal to send the Rams to the Super Bowl.

Working with Johnson for the first time, Staley recognizes how talented he is and how impactful it will be to have him "quarterbacking" the secondary alongside cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

"I've been through (it) with two All-Pro safeties the last three years, two other safeties in Justin Simmons and Eddie Jackson, and Adrian Amos and Kareem Jackson, that's four safeties that are as good as you're going to get," Staley said during an Aug. 15 video conference. "And John Johnson is this guy that, he's fantastic."

In a secondary with many young players, Johnson will be counted on to guide them as one of the most experienced voices in the group. His teammates gladly embrace it.

"I love his energy and his passion for the game as well," second-year safety Taylor Rapp said during a Sept. 2 video conference. "I think he's really grown into his role incredibly well. He's really taken on that leadership role and kind of taken helm of the defensive room as well. I love the guy. I can't wait to be out there September 13 with him."

90’s cars classics?

I saw this article listing cars from the 90’s as classics. See below.

Are they really classics? For me it’s not an age thing. While these cars meet the historical classification, their isn’t much to define them as classic. Again, just my opinion.

But what would define them? Plastic parts? Performance alterations to meet emissions?

It’s also a feel thing. 90’s cars do nothing for me, 20 years later.

In the 90’s... 60’s/70’s (20yrs later) those cars were distinctive. They gave you a feel still. The range of design, almost art.

Do 90’s cars give you that classic feel?

Jalen Ramsey's contract details show how Rams created $7.5M in cap space for 2020

Cameron DaSilva
Jalen Ramsey and the Rams finally came to terms on a contract extension Wednesday, agreeing to a five-year deal worth $105 million. It’s the largest deal ever for a defensive back, tying him to Los Angeles through 2025.

The Rams had been working on the contract with Ramsey’s agent since the trade happened last October, but clearly it wasn’t an easy deal to lay out – especially considering the team’s salary cap situation.

By getting Ramsey’s deal done, the Rams actually freed up a significant chunk of cap space in 2020. According to Mike Garafolo’s breakdown of Ramsey’s contract, his base salary this season will only be $1.2 million – down from $13.7 million.

Because he got a $25 million signing bonus, which is prorated over five years, his cap hit will drop from that $13.7 million figure to about $6.2 million ($1.2 million base salary plus $5 million per year for the bonus). That gives the Rams an additional $7.5 million in cap space this year, potentially opening the door for a Cooper Kupp extension.

Garafolo also pointed out that Ramsey has rolling guarantees, which all but ensure he’ll remain with the Rams through 2024.

Here’s the breakdown of Ramsey’s annual salary, per Garafolo. Ramsey also has a $4 million roster bonus each due in the spring of 2024 and 2025,

2020: $1.2 million base salary
2021: $17.5 million
2022 $15 million
2023: $17 million
2024: $14.5 million
2025: $15.5 million
There are no real surprises with Ramsey’s contract, but the Rams are essentially looking at a cap hit of at least $20 million in each of the next five years for their star corner.

Pair that with Jared Goff and Aaron Donald, whose contracts will have combined cap hits of at least $50 million each year through 2024, and the Rams have a good chunk of their salary cap accounted taken up for the foreseeable future.

Skip ???????? What a pile

You guys see Skips comments on Dak, his depression ? No fan of the Cowboys or Dak, but everyone goes though bad shit. And Skip is a pile of shit.
Mental health problems are nothing to be ashamed of. There is a long list of famous people who have killed themselves. Many of the best singers/musicians of all time have offed themselves. Being super famous is not natural and some can not deal with it.
Right now with Covid, tons of good people are having problems. Its not about YOU Skip, you are one click away from subhuman.
I am blessed right now when so many are hurting. Making more money than I ever have, life is not bad. Wish it was that way for more of us.

  • Poll Poll
No contact past 2 preseasons helps the Rams?

Are the a Rams the best prepared team with no preseason games?

  • Yes, they have come accustomed to no contact early on.

  • No, every team needs to get the pads dirty.

  • It doesn’t matter, all the teams are on even ground.

I was talking with a fellow Rams fan. I told him I’m not worried about the first game against the Cowboys. He’s worried about the lack of preseason contact. I laughed it off and asked if he’s tracked the Rams Preseason snap count for starters the past two years. If any team is prepared I’d have to believe it’s the Rams.
