Next seasons opponents

I'm always looking ahead for away games I can get to. I'm going to try for Jacksonville next year as we try to get back to Florida every year.

I don't remember looking at a future schedule and thinking it looked so pleasing to the eye.

Of course, much could change, and we don't know two opponents, but it's hardly fear-inducing.

PREGAME Eagles Week 12

I spend a lot of time watching the Eagles, as my GF is an Eagles fan. Here is my take from this matchup for us.

Eagles Defense is one of the Nastiest in the league when they are clicking. At first they thought this was going to be one of the worst with multiple rookies starting for them in Mitchell and Dejean. They will go up and lock down WRs even with thier safties. Blankenship is a INT problem we DEF have to watch out for.

Passing, they will not allow it. They are 2nd best def in the league when it comes to Passing. They have a near 70% win rate on Pass Plays.

They struggle on Offense at times so the Defense is used to being on the field. Passing is thier weak point, but will throw to Brown and Godert A lot. They Use 12 Personell A lot, Either two backs in Saquon, and Gainwell on run plays, or TE Godert and Calcatterra.

Saquon, is a Beast period and Battling King Henry for #1 Rushing Spot.

Hurts is a Third RB on the field and plays like one. We need to get him fast so he cant run on pass plays but should focus on where the hell Saquon is at all times as a priority. He runs out of the pocket and will take off for 20+ yards in a matter of seconds. He has only 150 Yards or so less than Kyren. Jalen is 2nd in the NFL in rushing TD. Most are Tush push. This team Runs all day and avgs 181 yards a game rushing.

Good news is they struggle in Zone coverage sometimes. We also Cannot do man coverage as Smitty and Brown will burn our secondary fast.
They will go for 4th down Alot.

We need to Run 12 Personell as well to help left Side. Dean and Baun are no joke at all and will break through. We are even in terms of Qb sacks

Our Def is one of the Best in INT and thiers is one of the best in Fumbles. They do tend to fumble the ball tho. They at times have stuggled with tackles.

If we are going to upset a team, Eagles would be the one that we can. They have not Faced many decent teams. They are coming off a Mini Bye A team we face coming off a bye or mini bye? Nah Never!

5 Thoughts Post New England (from an ex-baller)

1. Not sure why our offense starts off so slow every single game...I believe we've been down to begin every game this year. McVay needs to change up that script at the beginning of games or the O needs to play harder.

2. OLine Thoughts: I'm excited to see this OLine combo with Big Rob back at RT. Hopefully he'll be ready to go for the Eagles game this week. McClendon played admirably, I didn't notice him at all this game which probably means he did well. Hats off to the coaching staff for benching J.Jackson even though he's making a ton of money.

3. Our lack of speed on O is evident. Kupp's 69yd TD was awesome but we don't have any starting skill players that can break one. For next year, I'd love to add a big WR with speed or a speedy complement RB (like Justice Hill). I love Kyren Williams but he doesn't have the speed to break away and change a game.

4. My wishlist for our draft next year: a true CB1 and some speed on offense.

5. Interesting to see the playing time on defense. Looks like DWill is now CB1 and Speights getting more time too.

My uneducated opinion on our Rams and McVay

Although I'm in my 40th year as a Rams fan and watched hundreds of games, I'm no Xs and Os expert.

So my take comes from a layman's perspective rather than analysing the shit out of play calls or individual performances.

Firstly, I'm totally bemused by people diving on McVay over individual plays, calling him Boy Wonder, and saying his decisions are low-intelligence .

Some people were also predicting he'd blow it last night when they got the ball back.

Fuck me, the guy is the best coach in franchise history and called thousands of thousands of plays.

Expecting him to get it right on every call, or even most calls, is ridiculous. And a casual glance at his W-L record will show you he's not prone to blowing games.

It's like expecting a golfer to sink every putt, a boxer to land every punch, or Gronk occasionally not look like fucking idiot. It's not humanly possible.

But the thing is, we forget all the calls he gets right unless they're unusual or exploit weaknesses that we ourselves saw because it's what we expect.

McVay is a fabulous HC and play-caller, and his record over a sustained period of time makes that unarguable.

What I love about this team is that it's doing what many people were complaining hadn't happened in the past.

Playing aggressively.

The D is flat-out nasty, and they love hitting people.

It's young and makes the kind of mistakes (sometimes dumb ones) you'd expect from a young team. You cannot have it both ways.

But I bet this that no fucking QB is excited at facing Chris Shula's D. The very Chris Shula, who a few would have run out of town earlier in the season.

Who'd have said that at the end of last season with no AD?

And our O can explode when things click.

I don't agree with people who say Kupp and Puka are too similar to get the best out of them.

You can never have too much talent or too many tough and smart football players.

I'm not saying I'd not swap out one for Holt in his prime, but there are a few WRs (and none sat around waiting by phone) who would make this team better by taking over from one or the other when fit.

Both fit the mindset of this team and organization. The mindset that McVay is/was the leading creator of.

A couple or more people said in the match thread that we are a middle-of-the-pack 5-5 team.

It's hard to disagree with that because we are 5-5, and we are in the middle of the pack.

But, and it's a big but, I think we have much higher upside than most 5-5 teams.

We have the ability to go off in a game on both sides of the ball.

I think this team can win the Lombardi, but I also think it's capable of missing the playoffs.

If we can make the playoffs and the O and D start to sync, we'll be more of a concern to teams than we were last year.

I'm not saying that will happen, it probably won't. But I love what McVay continues to do with this entire organization.

My only long-term concern is Stafford. I even trust McVay and Snead to find a Kupp replacement because, for the last two years, they have been the NFL's best drafting tandem (I'm guessing that because I don't study other teams, but I bet it's true).

How we replace Stafford is another matter.

One thing I also found amusing in the thread was when Puka grabbed the TD at full stretch; not one, but two people said it was a terrible pass from Stafford.

Was it fuck.

It wasn't ideal, nor was it on the money.

But it still put the ball in a place where only the WR could catch it and it ended up in a TD.

Rams and Playoff chase

After today's games, Rams moved up to 8th place in the NFC playoff picture.

Easiest path to playoffs remains winning the NFC West. Rams at 5-5 are one game back of the 6-4 Cards, and they have a re-match in game 16.

Right now in the 7th Wild Card spot are the Commodes at 7-4. Commodes have a 5-2 NFC Conference record, while the Rams are 2 games behind in that category at 3-4. A victory over PHI next week would help both in conference record and in the "common opponents" tiebreaker with WAS.

MIN and GB are gonna be tough to catch (Min at 8-2, while GB is 7-3 and owns the H to H tiebreaker against us). So for now, WAs looks like best bet for the WC route. But overall, NFC West remains most likely path to playoffs.

Game Day Thread

The GDT is a live thread tradition here at ROD.

While we all get fired up watching the game, please remember our core principles; we always show respect for our team and each other.

Despite the emotional highs and lows watching a game, we will moderate this thread with that in mind, however please refrain from name calling. This applies to players, the Rams organization, and each other.

This is the core rule of the GDT. Moderators are tasked to issue thread bans, at a minimum, to maintain this standard.

This is our team. Win or lose. Good days and bad. We are here for FUN, not to be dragged down.

A more loosely moderated atmosphere can be found in the chat room.

Go Rams!

Gameday Menu Thread

Early morning game. Been roped into a Friendsgiving - I am excited seeing as this will be my chance at traditional food this year.

We've been asked to make rolls, stuffing. . . and then we realized no one was making mashed potatoes and gravy so we will be taking those on as well . . . I love making mashed potatoes.

Her friends are picky so I am weary of making a good stuffing that has veggies in it.

For sure will just be making packaged gravy.

My wife makes incredible rolls. . . so they have been requested.

I was thinking garbage plates until I remembered about his dinner. . .

What say all of you!?

Any special thanksgiving recipes you'd be willing to share?

What are you making to take down the pats?

BCS Rankings

So what are everybody's thoughts and/or complaints?

Everybody knows the SEC is the best conference. So why are there 4 Big 10 teams in the top 5?

Alabama beat Georgia but lost to Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Yes, Venderbilt. Georgia beat current #1, Texas but lost to Alabama and Ole Miss. Texas only black mark is that loss to Georgia but they didn't have Tennessee, Alabama or Ole Miss on their schedule. Texas plays Arkansas tomorrow, in Fayetteville. But LSU, A & M and Ole Miss traveled there and won this year. Ole Miss lost to LSU and Kentucky. Tennessee, currently the leader in the SEC, plays Georgia tomorrow. With a win, it would be the first time since 2006 that they beat both Georgia and Alabama in the same season. And as luck would have it, Trevor Entiene is going to miss the game. But will they win? It has been a crazy year in the SEC.

Over in the Big 10, it's business as usual. Ohio St. plays nobody tough except Oregon and Penn St. The toughest game the rest of the season is vs Indiana. And that would be an upset of epic proportion despite IU being 9-0. Why? They haven't beat Ohio St. since 1987 and have gone 0-30-1 since then. In fact, from 1953 to 1986 they went 0-29-1 vs Ohio St,, beat them in 1987 and 1988, then had their latest run. But wouldn't numerology suggest it's time? 0-29-1; 2-0; 0-30-1. Probably time for two straight! Will Oregon go undefeated? They play Maryland tomorrow, have a bye and finish vs Washington. Chances are good Ohio St. beats Indiana and plays Oregon in the B10 Championship Game, which they will probably win. Then they'll get beat in the BCS by Alabama, Georgia or Ole Miss.

This will be an exciting BCS playoff to watch. My bet is, when it's over there will be cries for either a 20 team playoff or a 6 team playoff. Because this playoff format favors the SEC. In truth any playoff, whether it's a 4 team, 6 team, 8, 10, 12, 16 or 20, will favor the SEC. Teams like BYU, Miami and Indiana will be included in the BCS playoff but it'll still end up Georgia vs Alabama. Why don't they make it easy and crown the SEC Champion, National Champion and have good old fashioned bowl games to determine who's #3 on down?

Memento's I'm Thankful for November Insanity 2025 Mock Draft.

Well, time for another mock draft! (As a note, I'm going to do entirely different players than my other draft, for the sake of variety. Also assuming that we re-sign/franchise tag A-Jax in free agency.):

TRADE:

Cooper Kupp and Jonah Jackson to the New England Cheatriots for #41 overall and #144 overall.

(Unrealistic? Maybe. But I think the Cheatriots, in a division ripe for the taking with the Jets and Dolphins in disarray, drive up the price for a veteran receiver and what would be a starting offensive lineman. In return, we get a high second pick to select someone that I have my eye on and a fifth round pick.)

Colby Parkinson to the Washington Comm - anders for 2025 seventh round pick (#244 overall).

(I'm sorry, I see nothing in Parkinson worth keeping. Washington has a need for a second tight end with Ben Sinnott struggling in his rookie year and nothing else behind him. In return, we get a pick. Not a massive pick, but a pick nonetheless.)

Derion Kendrick and 2028 seventh to the Miami Dolphins for 2028 sixth.

(We're accumulating these sixths, guys!)

#16 overall to the Buffalo Bills for #30 overall, #59 overall, #62 overall, and #118 overall.

(Trading down this much? Yeah, it's big. Buffalo goes for an edge rusher (Jalon Walker,? Or Deone Walker?), and we trade down for an absolute haul. Do I have my eye on someone? Yes. Yes, I do.)

DRAFT:

#30 overall (Bills) - Walter Nolan, NT/DT, Ole Miss.

(Far too good to pass up here. Could bump Kobie Turner to nose; perfect 5-tech.)

#41 overall (Cheatriots) - Tacario Davis, CB, Arizona.

(Tetairoa McMillan isn't the only freakish-sized skill-position player Arizona has; Davis measures at 6'4", 195 lbs.)

#59 overall (Bills via Vikings) - Harold Fannin Jr., TE, Bowling Green.

(Seriously underrated tight end getting a lot of buzz. Productive as hell, underrated blocker.)

#62 overall (Bills) - Jalen Royals, WR, Utah State.

(Speed kills, and Royals has it in spades. Much bigger than Atwell as well. Our new X-receiver.)

#81 overall (Rams) - Jayden Higgins, WR, Iowa State.

(6'4", 215 lbs. menace with the ball in his hands. Definitely on my radar.)

#100 overall (Raheem Morris comp) - Harold Perkins Jr., ILB, Louisiana State.

(Runs a 4.45. at 225 lbs., incredible coverage linebacker to match with Speights.)

#117 overall (Rams) - Zy Alexander, CB, Louisiana State.

(Jumped from FCS to FBS and looked like he belonged before a season-ending injury. Gamble, but worth it.)

#118 overall (Bills via Bears) - Hollin Pierce, OT, Rutgers.

(Massive mountain of a kid (6'8", 354 lbs. redshirt sophomore) who could possibly come out or stay in school. Either way, all eyes will be on him.)

#144 overall (Cheatriots) -David Walker, EDGE, Central Arkansas.

(FCS stud who has nine sacks and four forced fumbles this year alone with 28.5 sacks and six forced fumbles total. All my yes.)

#193 overall (Rams) - Luke Lachey, TE, Iowa.

(One of my favorites from last year returns. He hasn't been the same since the ankle injury that cut last year short, but Iowa is Tight End U for a reason.)

#197 overall (Texans) - Garrett Dellinger, OG, Louisiana State.

(Lot of people here like him. Yes, I know this is an LSU-heavy draft, but they have such a good team.)

#198 overall (Falcons) - Aydan White, CB, North Carolina State.

(Ballhawk and insurance in case Alexander struggles to recover from injury. Nine picks with an additional thirty passes defensed. )

#244 overall (Washington) - Theo Wease, WR, Missouri.

(Thought I'd snag another possession receiver here from my favorite school. Former five-star Sooner who jumped to Mizzou and proved he belonged.)

-

ROSTER:

QB - Matthew Stafford, Stetson Bennett.

(Is the quarterback situation scary? Yeah, but there aren't any developmental quarterbacks worth taking, and if we bomb this year, it's no big loss; we just select the next big thing.)

RB - Kyren Williams, Blake Corum, Cody Schrader.

(Rivers is put on the practice squad, because I believe in the three running backs. Schrader is the kick returner.)

WR - Puka Nacua, Jalen Royals, Jayden Higgins, Jordan Whittington, Xavier Smith, Theo Wease.

(Nacua is the number one, but Royals and Higgins should see serious snaps. Whittington can fill in when Nacua needs a breather, Smith is the punt returner, and Wease is the gunner and all-around backup.)

TE - Harold Fannin Jr., Davis Allen, Luke Lachey.

(Fannin starts immediately. That's how much I believe in him. Allen gets his fair share of snaps, while Lachey heals off his injury.)

OL - Alaric Jackson, Steve Avila, Beaux Limmer, Kevin Dotson, Rob Havenstein, Warren McClendon, Justin Dedich, Dylan McMahon, KT Leveston, Hollin Pierce, Garrett Dellinger.

(The question is A-Jax. If he leaves, this mock is a bust. I have zero questions anywhere else; this is a young and talented group.)

DL - Kobie Turner, Braden Fiske, Walter Nolan, Desjuan Johnson, Tyler Davis, David Olajiga.

(Turner may have gotten bumped to nose, but I bet he'll see his fair share of sack opportunities. Fiske and Nolan are your third down rushers, Johnson and Davis spell others, and Olajiga gets his chance to shine - I'm on the hype train for him.)

LB - Jared Verse, Byron Young, Omar Speights, Harold Perkins Jr., Brennan Jackson, Nick Hampton, David Walker, Jake Hummel.

(Verse is Verse. Young is solid, but imagine how good B-Jax is going to be next year, along with Hampton. Hummel and Walker are your special teams player, while Walker develops, while Perkins starts with Speights.)

DB - Tacario Davis, Cobie Durant, Darious Williams, Quentin Lake, Kamren Kinchens, Kamren Curl, Jaylen McCollough, Josh Wallace, Charles Woods, Zy Alexander, Aydan White.

(Davis immediately steps in as the starter on the boundary. Durant is in a contract year, Williams will play at least another year with us, and then you have Lake and the Kams and McCollough (who likely steps in the linebacker role on passing downs at first). Wallace and Woods get the first crack at things, but expect Alexander and White to make their case. Lampkin and THT just miss out, but there's always the practice squad.)

ST - Joshua Karty, Ethan Evans, Alex Ward.

(I don't see this changing in the near future.)

I'll get into the prospects in other posts.

Cybersecurity

Hey guys, was just wondering if anyone here works in cybersecurity.

I got my Sec+ last February, wanted to go the more technical route, but a sales opportunity opened up at an MSSP so I took it (not an easy industry to break into).

I’m actually really enjoying it and am working toward becoming a sales engineer next year!

Would love to pick your brains if anyone works in the industry!

5 Thoughts After Miami (from an ex-baller)

Hey all this is my first post of this kind! I hope you all enjoy it and would love to hear what you think:

1. It starts with the OLine...Staff was hurried all game and it was mainly from Jackson and Notebook. I would insert Limmer back at C, and try McClendon at RT although I'd be open to giving Boom another shot with another week of practice.

2. Kupp and Nacua are too similar. I love them both but having them both on the field is redundant. Kupp is one of my fav Rams of all time but it might be time next year to look for another WR next year with more speed (which hurts me to say).

3. I actually agree with McVay's decision to kick that FG on 4th and 4. It brings it to a 1 possession game at that point, and if you go for it + miss...it's basically game over. Analytics say going for it would have been the right call but it only gives a 3.6% increase in win probability, which isn't overwhelming.

4. Defense impressed me. After the first scoring drive from the Dolphins, I thought we were in for a long day on defense. Miami's strengths (WR) are exactly our biggest weakness (DBs) but the defense held up very well except for some frustrating 3rd and longs. We just need to be more consistent at times but I'm hoping that will come with experience. Our DLine is outstanding and we have 4 studs on there in year 1 or 2.

5. Is this team a Super Bowl contender? If I had to put money down I'd say no, but looking at the pieces we have we can be a very dangerous team. All we need to do is get hot and make the playoffs and then it's anybody's game! I'm confident they'll figure out the best OL combo which means Stafford should start playing better, our D should keep getting better with more experience and those 2 in combination will equal more wins.

Thanks for tuning in and hope you enjoyed the read!
