I'm square as hell and the military kept me drug free for a lot of years...Well, except for caffiene and 3.2 beer. I had a lost year when I was a sophomore in HS smoking 70's pot with a friendly acquaintance and I did one line of coke which I regretted because I was worried about failing a drug test. The one drug I wished I had tried as a kid was LSD, but i feared getting bad drugs from a dealers and I also feared losing control while having a bad trip. I understand that you have to relaxed environment before using it and having several hours in seclusion. That will probably never happen because it would freak my wife out. Joe Rogan is a huge DMT proponent and a buddy I work with is really into a type of pot called "blue cheese." I guess I'm still a square and probably will never use anything except Rye Whiskey and Guiness, so who am I foolin'? lol...Any, how about a poll?

Anyone else want it to be Saturday, already?

Anyone remember that movie with Adam Sandler, "Click" where he removes all the tediousness from his daily existence using the remote control given to him by Christopher Walken only to regret it in the end?

Well, especially with our new, precious and totally awesome granddaughter, the LAST thing I would do is fast forward for even a second.

That said, my enthusiasm and anxiousness for this playoff game to start has me itching already!!!

I will be going crazy until kickoff!!!

GO RAMS!!! Get those WINS!!!

2020 Regular Season Game Balls - Work Remains...

There is a lot of football left to be played...

But, with a fun week and excited mindset ahead of our playoff game... I’d like to give a 2020 roster shout out to...

Troy Freaking Hill

I love this guy. I have always sort of had this weird like for him as a player. Sort of the scrappy SOB you always want in the scrum with you. He might not always win his battles but he will fight you... win or lose... He’s “in”. Always seems to be giving it 100%, sometimes out of control. Yet, it all offsets the occasional mistake, recognizing he’s not a physically elite guy.

That INT vs AZ was huge. He’s had 7 picks the last 3 seasons and a nice 5yr career with the Rams as a role player guy who gets good snaps.

Maybe he’s like Gonzo of the Muppets, or Grover on Sesame Street, Kate Jackson of Charlie’s Angels... maybe even a cockroach... You‘re glad he’s on your side, even if he’s not the all star.

To win a SB, you need guys like Hill on your roster.

Cheers Troy Hill! :beer2:

Anyone else have a player to recognize? I hear we have a guy named Donald on the roster. LOL

Jamal Adams

Though this guys is not really a safety and more of a blitzing outside linebacker...

if he does play Saturday... can we please not give him a free run into our backfield?

Henderson got injured partially because we allowed him to run full speed into our backfield,,, and we do that a lot.

Get a body on his ass... hit him in the mouth.

Stop letting him do whatever the fuck he wants.

That's the way i feel about it.

A few thoughts on ‘fixing’ this Ram O...

My thoughts for when Goff is healthy, not for this next game. Probably more about next year, actually.

I’m no fan of QB by committee, so pick a QB and train the heck out of him. That QB will be Goff, I’m sure.

Hire a legit OC and let him call the plays. McVay should transition into an executive type HC because even he has too much on his plate at gametime. Consequently, important things are not properly managed and his O then suffers. A pure QB Coach with a like mindset wouldn’t be a bad idea, either. I would move mountains to try to get Goff back to at least a top 10 QB status.

My evidence? This O has been in a downward spiral since mid ‘18. Yeah, Gurley became injured and Cooks had to be jettisoned, but c’mon. It’s not as if they were replaced by chopped liver and the other 9 O players from ‘19 are pretty much the same, aren’t they?

Goff is currently a mess and it seems to be largely an above the neck thing. Is it an O philosophy ‘no turnover’ overreaction, does he have some other unknown injury, a scheme thing, or what? I dunno and I don’t care. Just FIX it! WTH happened to that ‘genius’ O Coach that we once had?

Get the TE’s back in the O game plan. The reasons are obvious. Make D’s once again defend every blade of grass.

Get together with Kromer and develop a plan to upgrade this OL’s run blocking ability. Might require a FA at C or maybe a high draft pick there. Hate to spend a 2 or a 3 on C considering all of our other needs, but a stud C for this O could be invaluable. He’s in on every snap and his blocking impacts that crucial interior on every single play, making him surely one of Goff’s best friends and a helluva security blanket. I thought we could ‘make do’ with Blythe but I no longer think we can go far in the playoffs with a ‘make do’ C. And I’m not at all sure that our future starter is on the roster. Sooooo...

The above would be a nice start toward ‘fixing’ this stumbling O. And it would perhaps cost only the acquisition of a stud C one way or the other. Everett is a goner, so they must decide whether Hopkins can start next year or should they draft another TE, bearing in mind that it typically takes 2-3 years to bring along a rookie TE.

Assuming that Staley remains, I’m sure that he can fill holes he sees in his current D. Including those that will come from departing UFA’s. So I’ll save commentary on D for another time.

Bonamego will surely be fired and hopefully McVay will be more successful in choosing Bonamego’s replacement. Gay played well and Hekker is fine. Just need to improve coverage and return units. Should be very doable by a competent ST Coordinator.

Bottom line? ‘Fix’ this O and we are a SB caliber team. Top 5 in the entire league. So, THAT’s how important fixing this O is. We’re counting on you, Coach...

Mini Football Helmets

My oldest son collects mini football helmets. He has every D-1 college team helmet (some of the schools have gotten rid of their football teams, but he still has their football helmets somehow) and NFL team helmet. He's got close to 400 total helmets and he has all of them displayed in golfball cabinets on his gameroom walls.

Anyway... he found this set on sale somewhere on the net that an old woman was selling because her husband had recently passed away. She didn't know what she had value wise because she sold it to my son for like $30. Apparently, the cowgirl helmet alone is worth hundreds of dollars... it's a rare one. Check out some of these throwback helmets and helmets from NFL teams that are no more.

Who is the most complete 2020 NFL playoff team?

I know that PFF is flawed, but if the Rams can put it together, we might just win it all babe

NO. 3: LOS ANGELES RAMS
Offense
  • The Rams hardly addressed their offensive line last offseason, which seemed like a curious decision at the time after their once-dangerous offense regressed badly in 2019. Alas, coach Sean McVay has more football knowledge in his pinky than any of us ever will in our entire body, and the Rams managed to field the league’s sixth and 13th ranked offensive line in yards before contact per attempt and pressure rate. The latter rate is particularly impressive considering Jared Goff’s average of 2.54 seconds from snap to attempt ranked just 23rd among 42 qualified QBs.
  • And yet, this offense still couldn’t consistently pound the rock despite having anyone’s idea of a solid offensive line. Each of Cam Akers (29th in yards after contact per carry among 51 qualified players), Darrell Henderson (32nd) and Malcolm Brown (49th) were below-average backs in their ability to pick up additional yardage after first contact.
Defense
  • This pass defense is downright terrifying, ranking first in PFF coverage grade, EPA allowed per pass, yards allowed per attempt and explosive pass-play rate. Overall, their average of -0.161 EPA per pass play is good for the 11th-best single-season mark from a pass defense since 2010. Both Aaron Donald(PFF’s No. 1 highest-graded interior defender) and Jalen Ramsey (No. 8 corner) each deserve plenty of success for helping build this juggernaut.
  • The Rams aren’t a bad tackling defense by any stretch; nobody 1) has a lower missed tackle rate, 2) allowed fewer yards after contact per attempt. Their only “issue” was ranking 24th in yards after the catch per reception; just realize this is likely more of a result from opposing passing games posting the league’s second-lowest average target depth when facing the Rams. The Saints also boast a great defense, but gimme the Rams as the league’s best unit entering the playoffs.

Receivers without attitude

Yesterday I watched Everett on a deep ball down the sideline waiting for the ball instead of going after it. That allowed the defender to get in and break up the pass.

Our WRs and TEs don’t seem to have that mean streak to really battle for contested balls like they own it.

I know you can teach them to high point the ball but they have to want it and go get it.

I want a room full of bad asses who are smart and can run routes. I know they don’t grow on trees but the Rams need more attitude on offense.

What Shecock fans are saying

First off, congratulations to the Seahawks on a 12-4 regular season. That record is nothing to scoff at, and is something to be proud of. NFC West divisions champions also has a sweet taste to it.

Now, after today's come from behind victory against the 49ers, I was hoping to be even more jacked. Except, I'm not.

Because we have to play the Los Angeles Rams AGAIN. This team has been a proverbial thorn in our side for as long as Pete's been here it feels like. They're like a turd that won't flush.

Going back in time now to 2004, where we played them in the wild card round. Remember this one? Hasselbeck threw a gut wrenching incompletion to Engram in the endzone at the end of the game, completing a 3 game sweep of us that season.

Fast forward to now, where we had a hard fought game against them last week to finally take them out and win the division. And when the dust settles from our party, who's standing in front of us, but the same pesky Rams! They just won't leave us alone!

I have a bad feeling about this one. I felt ultra confident about last week's game, but now it feels like we've exhausted all our good plays, showed our hand, and we're left facing them with nothing but our wits and integrity. It's like bringing a knife to a gun fight against these guys.

The video below is a perfect representstion of how I'm feeling about this matchup, with Kylo Ren representing the Seahawks (and how I looked after beating them last week/how I looked seeing we're playing them again) and Luke Skywalker representing the Rams.

Is anyone else dreading this upcoming game? Or does Jerhawk need to buckle up and prepare for victory? What's your level of confidence heading into Saturday's playoff battle?

* I'd rather face any other playoff team, to be honest. However, we did handle them pretty well last time, though the final score doesn't show it.

* I think PC/KNJ finally have the Ram's offense figured out, and PC will let Schotty plan a shorter pass game due to the Ram's notorious Dline. They got this.

* We just saw in their win v. the Cardinals that their offense now has a different dynamic with Wolford as their QB. He is definitely not Goff.

*
We could definitely lose to the Rams, but then again we could lose to any team. And if we do beat the Rams, we could definitely lose to the second round matchup, etc.

I suggest looking at the playoffs from the other direction. It isn't likely, but if we manage to win three games in a row we get a trip to the Super Bowl. Can we beat the Rams? Clearly yes as of just two weeks ago. And if we do beat them, then the reward is just needing to win two games in a row to get to the Super Bowl.

*
I'm not entirely sure where you read that. All the publications I've read have said the Rams have no idea if Goff will be back or not.

https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2021/0 ... -seahawks/

https://www.nfl.com/news/rams-hc-sean-m ... s-seahawks

Honestly, what I saw from Wolford was a little concerning. The Cardinals are without a doubt ending their season in a downward slope, but some of the plays Wolfie made convinced me that if he plays like that again then it's definitely going to be an extremely tight game.

* NO doubt the best wild card team in the NFC remember they beat Tampa Bay convincingly. Key to victory run the ball well, Stop the run , pressure Goff, protect Wilson and of course win the turnover battle. Do three of those five with one of them being win the turnover battle and the Seahawks win.

*
I think this game will be a stroll brawl. It’s going to be ugly. Lots of defense up to the fourth quarter and a team will have one game convincing drive. Not going to be a fun game to watch for either team. Lots of dumb calls.

It will be like a mayweather fight. Nothing flashy and really boring. Both teams trying to feel each other out.

The game day forum is going to EXPLODE!!!!! Lots of fire Pete, KNJ is a joke. Russ is terrible. Shorty can’t call a game to save his life. Pete is getting out coaches again. All this and some.

*
Rams have the #1 defense in the NFL by yards per game, #3 defense by points per game. Either way, they're one of the best defenses in the league and our offense hasn't exactly been firing on all cylinders lately.

Yes, I'm pretty concerned. We needed 3 4th quarter TDs to beat a very depleated 49ers team. It's going to be much more difficult to pull that off against one of the best defenses in the NFL.

*
was kinda dreading it before, and posted that in another thread.

If Adams is playing, I'm not 'worried'. If he's out - I would be a bit. Sounds like he's gonna play.

It's DIVISIONAL. The Cards, Rams and 9ers ALWAYS play lights out ball against us. It's what they do. It's like their superbowl EVERY game. But, with a backup QB, and Adams first playoff game? Not as worried. Donald can post all the bulletin board material he wants - he's only one guy.

I'd be more worried about a hot-dog-neck Ariens Cardinals team from a couple years ago than I am against the Rams. I'll take smash-mouth vs. trick misdirected punt plays any day of the week.

Honestly my end take: Adams in - we win. Adams out - we got some problems.

* If Goff plays, Seahawks win.

* So sick of the Rams. Of course Brady gets lucky and matches with the NFCE winner.

*
I guess we’ll have to game plan better offensively if we want to win.

Please no less than 5 catches for Metcalf.

* Sick of the Rams but how goes the saying?"Steel sharpens steel"Hope so.

*

TheLegendOfBoom wrote:Please no less than 5 catches for Metcalf.

Easier said than done if Ramsey is blanketing him. Shut down DHop today.

*
If I am a Ram I want redemption and that would taste sweet knocking us out.

Also they hardly have to travel the first week as well, two incentives versus going least coast.

* The one thing that makes me uneasy regarding the Rams O vs the Hawks D is can McVey cook up something to counter what our D did last week, assuming we did something different schematically than in previous years.

* If Wolford get the start with another week of !st team snaps under his belt he could really give the Hawks D all they can handle . He makes me a little nervous to tell the truth .

*
And that’s what’s worrisome.

Wilson completely avoided Metcalf in the first game.

Wilson knows Ramsey is elite.

If Seattle doesn’t run the ball well and Lockett is quiet, it’s gonna be a bad game for Wilson.

* he top 2 defenses going at. This will be a defensive ball game, and the winner of this game will be in the NFC Championship game.
