Random, but Upcoming contracts

I was just watching Kobie speak today and am just blown away by how well he speaks and presents himself.

I decided to look at his contract status and realized he is still on his rookie deal; he's making a little more than 1 million this year.

Kyren contract status has been talk all off season.

We've been drafting well and that means money is going to need be doled out soon.

Names like Kobie, Kyren, Byron, Avila, (eventually Stafford will retire)

How do we foresee the makeup of the roster getting mixed up due to contracts.

NFL Record Book rewrites provide a nice change......

"The most significant adjustment will be to Brown's coaching record. In the 2024 NFL record and fact book, Brown is credited with 21 seasons, 166 regular season wins, four postseason wins (for a career total of 170 wins) and three championships. But Brown coached the Cleveland Browns to the championship in every one of the AAFC's four seasons. He won 47 regular season games in the AAFC, and five additional postseason games. His career total, then, should be 222 victories and seven overall championships. The 222 victories will vault him up the all-time wins list. In the 2024 NFL record and fact book, Brown was in 21st place. With the AAFC adjustment, he will be in seventh place, just behind Curly Lambeau, who had 229 overall victories, and just ahead of Chuck Noll, with 209. Given Brown's outsized influence on coaching -- he is credited with, among other things, beginning the practice of using film analysis to grade players and calling plays from the sideline -- it is hard to imagine anyone quibbling with Brown's new rank."

These changes were announced back in early April and I don't know if they were posted but.........Those 7 championships will rank him above Bill Belichick, which is nice. From everything I've read over the years, Paul Brown was only slightly more likeable than Belichick, if at all, but that's no matter. The matter is, the cheater has been knocked down a rung because of the records change. Some would call that karma.

Arch Manning and Matt Stafford: Rams succession plan

LOS ANGELES — Day 2 of an unanticipated Matthew Stafford watch brought a slight perception regression for the Los Angeles Rams. The sun was shining at Loyola Marymount University and practice was running at a brisk pace. But in a twist, Stafford was neither working to the side Wednesday, nor surveying drills and aiding the other quarterbacks who were taking all of the snaps.

In fact, he wasn’t on-hand at all.

To the alarmists, who continue to be haunted by the elbow soreness that scuttled Stafford’s season in 2022 and rolled over the Rams with it, it’s hard not to wonder if his unforeseen back soreness is being underplayed by the franchise. Or if it might be something that’s getting worse, with Stafford’s absence being a flag that speaks more authoritatively than the franchise’s brain trust’s assurance that this is all OK … all part of the plan … all just a measurement in the larger vantage.

“He was working with the training staff,” Rams head coach Sean McVay said Wednesday. “To be out here on his feet — could he be out here? Yeah, but what's more beneficial for him? I probably should have been a little bit more specific as to [what] working on the side [meant] — maybe working in the tents, things like that. So that was according to plan. I kind of misspoke [Tuesday] as far as ‘working out onto the side.’”

[Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season]

Speaking to Yahoo Sports, McVay reiterated that there has always been a plan in place to work Stafford in slowly in 2025, keeping an eye on later in the season rather than overburdening him with early work that isn’t necessary at this point in his career.

“This isn’t anything new,” McVay told Yahoo Sports. “It’s just one of those things that at the early parts of camp we were going to monitor and restrict his workload anyway — really for the mental and physical aspects of it. That made it easy to say, ‘F*** that, the first five-day acclimation period we’re not even in pads, it’s not even real football right now.’ It’s the right thing to do for him, No. 1, and for our team.”

Contrary to any anxieties, it doesn’t resonate as damage control by McVay. Instead, it screams an element of management by the Rams' brass, trying to deal with back soreness from Stafford that wasn’t anticipated. A development that, as one team source told Yahoo Sports, happened when Stafford was traveling on vacation in recent weeks with his family prior to the opening of camp. The kind of thing that can develop when you have a 37-year-old quarterback who has a history of health issues, including concerns with his back.

Realistically, everyone believes — including inside the Rams — that Stafford is deeply into the sunset portion of his NFL career. So much so, there’s a feeling inside the franchise that if the Rams win the Super Bowl this season, Stafford is going to use that opportunity to retire, a la John Elway with the Denver Broncos in 1999, after he’d secured the second Super Bowl title that would ensure he was a first-ballot Hall of Famer. According to a team source, even Stafford himself has joked with staff that the Rams' acquisition of a second first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft from the Atlanta Falcons is a sign that L.A.'s brass expects him to hang it up after the 2025 season.

But does that mean the Rams are also exploring Stafford replacements?

It’s a complicated question. First and foremost, Stafford is still operating inside a Super Bowl window open for the Rams. The leadership both in the coaching staff and front office is steadfast in his ability — if fully healthy — to lead Los Angeles to one more title in the next two seasons. That said, it’s clear there is a fixed vantage on the horizon, with Rams decision-makers knowing the next offseason is where they have to start moving toward a succession plan. Most likely toward a very young player who can grow with McVay and spend an elongated period attached at the hip.

[Get more Rams news: L.A. team feed]

One prominent name that surfaces inside this ideology is Texas quarterback Arch Manning, who some believe will end up being the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft following his 2025 season — if he leaves college before his senior year in 2026. Manning is tied to the Rams for a very obvious reason: Les Snead’s stepson Tate is known to be a close friend of Arch Manning, and Snead himself chatted up Arch Manning at the Texas pro day prior to the 2025 NFL Draft.

But it goes deeper than that. Speaking to a handful of Rams personnel sources, Manning is — at this moment — considered by the staff to be the lone Tier 1 quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft, regardless of who else could enter into the selection process. Why? The Rams covet Manning’s prototypical size (6-foot-4, 219 pounds) and throwing acumen … but also believe his high level of athleticism sets him apart from from every other college quarterback. So much so, the comparison for Manning inside the franchise is that his ceiling after the 2025 college season could be a Josh Allen-type of prospect who is actually stronger physically and a faster athlete than Allen was when he entered the draft in 2018.

That’s some significant praise from a team that’s going to need a quarterback sooner than later. Could it change with Manning’s performance in the 2025 college football season? Certainly. But his No. 1 perch atop the collegiate ranks of quarterbacks is absolutely where the Rams evaluate him right now. And they may have the ammunition to make a run at Manning in the 2026 class if he declares, thanks to a boatload of draft picks that include two first-rounders next spring.

Interestingly, a high-ranking Rams source told Yahoo Sports that even if Stafford returns to the team in 2026, the Rams would — at this point — still lean into drafting Manning (if he were gettable) and then put him on ice for his rookie season, similar to the Kansas City Chiefs keeping Patrick Mahomes on the bench behind Alex Smith in 2017. The source added that the franchise believes Stafford would be open to such a scenario, knowing that 2026 will almost certainly be his last season in the NFL, regardless of what transpires during the course of the regular season and playoffs.

For now, there are more moving parts than a Swiss watch when it comes to the Rams’ succession plan. But the reality remains that they’re thinking about it in a very real and tangible way. Maybe moreso than ever, with Stafford once again sidelined with health issues.

Like it was yesterday...

I was 11, and was sick as a dog. Watched the game on my parents bed on a black and white TV while the family was out celebrating post new years.
Williams couldnt hit the broad side of a barn and his back up was no better. Still I was petrified that Bell would break one...
Good times, even in the bad times....

Are the Jets Cursed?

New QB Justin Fields went down with a dislocated toe in practice today, which spurred me to go over and watch the Rich Eisen Show for the meltdown. Dude is a longtime, longsuffering Jets homer and it seems to always be something with the Jets. Either losing out on the number one QB in the draft because they won one game (vs the Rams) or signing ARod only for him to get injured in the first game of that season, or now the injury to Fields in training camp is evidence of the Jets Curse.
But..
Can a team be cursed if they have won a Super Bowl? Which team is the most cursed team in the NFL?

Top Ten Rams Quarterbacks All Time

I've seen these lists over the years, but I thought I'd put together an updated list for 2025.

As the Rams get ready to start camp for the 2025 season, with perhaps the most excitement since the eventual 2021 Super Bowl winner opened summer camp, let's take a look at the top ten players that have played the most important position on the team, Quarterback, since the 1937 inception of the Cleveland Rams.

1. Kurt Warner - His story is perhaps the greatest rags-to-riches story in NFL history. 1999 out of nowhere, "We will rally around Kurt Warner, and we will play good football", became an amazingly prophetic understatement, and Warner slayed the loser-label the Rams bore for nearly the entire decade of the '90's. The Rams won their first Super Bowl in franchise history, and nearly repeated the feat in 2001, creating a mini-dynasty of the Greatest Show on Truth, were it not for the Cheatriots. Kurt started only 50 games for the Rams, (was 35-15 .700 winning percentage) and is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

2. Norm Van Brocklin- (65 starts 42-20-3 .669) Drafted by the Rams in 1949, Van Brocklin initially platooned in an unusual and successful offensive system with Bob Waterfield. The Rams had a prolific passing attack with Tom Fears and Elroy "Crazy legs" Hirsch at the receiving end of the ball. NVB still holds the single game record of 554 yards in 1951 game and the Los Angeles Rams won their first pre-Superbowl title that year. Van Brocklin is enshrined in the Hall of Fame.

3. Matthew Stafford- (57 starts 34-23 .596) Brought over in a shocking and exciting trade before the 2021 season, Matthew Stafford immediately led the Rams to their first Superbowl title in the city of Los Angeles. Stafford continued his legacy from the Lions of toughness, a strong arm, and a true leader. The future hall of Famer is still at the top of his game, and could move his way to the top of this list before he retires.

4. Bob Waterfield- (Only 22 starts! 14-8 .636) Sole entry on this list from the Cleveland era, Waterfield's #7 is retired by the Rams, and he led the Cleveland Rams to the 1945 Championship. He was one of the best passers, punters and kickers in his era. Bob Waterfield is a Hall of Famer, and the man was married to Jane Russell. So, there's that.

5. Roman Gabriel- (Team most 119 starts 74-39-6 .647) The much-loved Gabriel led the Rams throughout the late 1960's and early 1970's. Roman was NFL MVP in 1969. The 4-time pro-bowler led the league in passing touchdowns twice and passing yards in 1969. Sadly, the Rams did not enjoy any playoff success under Gabriel, and he was later traded to the Eagles.

6. Jim Everett- (105 starts 46-59 YIKES! .438) The franchise record holder in yards and second in total starts can't fall too far down the list. Jim Everett was very talented and competitive in the late '80's but is certainly tainted by the "phantom sack" and the inability to conquer the 49ers.

7. Jared Goff- (69 starts 42-27 .609) Goff came in 1st overall pick in 2016 and recovered from a terrible start to take the Rams to the Super Bowl LIII in the 2018 season. Goff may have lacked the killer instinct, but his .609 winning percentage and overall success put him at #7 on the list.

8. Vince Ferragamo- (44 starts 26-18 .591) Taking the Rams to the Superbowl is always going to raise your stature in the eyes of Rams fans. In 1979, Ferragamo took over as starter and took an improbably team (Probably the least-talented Rams team of the 1970's) and nearly beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XIV. I only wish his time as starter was more consistent, and longer, and the Rams may have hoisted a Lombardi in the early Eighties.

9. Mark Bulger- (95 starts 41-54 .432 yeesh) Mad Mike Martz made a bad decision giving up on Kurt Warner when he battled a thumb injury in 2002. But he was onto something that wasn't too crazy. Mark Bulger was a very talented (and the best of the Brady 6) quarterback. Two-time Pro Bowler Bulger is ninth on this list.

10. James Harris- (27 starts 21-6 .778) With apologies to John Hadl (Not enough games -19 starts 15-4 .789) and Pat Haden (I just couldn't -55 starts 35-19) James Harris was one of the first black starting quarterbacks (I hate that label) when it truly was groundbreaking and came with a lot of pressure. He was a good leader, steady and deserves #10 on this list.

There you are gentlemen. One man's opinion. What is your top 10 quarterback list, circa 2025?

Largest Bicycles event in the world

most will think Tour de France

and , you would be wrong

Tour de France might be the largest competitive Bicycle event ,

but.............

Ragbrai , here in Iowa is actually the largest event , it's a noncompetitive event , it brings in 20,000 bicyclers , from all over the US and around the world

the route changes every year , but it starts on the Missouri River and ends on the Mississippi River

this year route is 406 miles , it came through here in NW Iowa ,

I've often thought about giving it a try , but thats as far as it ever got

but if there are any big time cyclists out there , might be something to look into , every town they past through has some kind of event waiting for them , and the towns they stay in over night , always have live concerts and street dance , and carnivals , and stuff

it's really for those who like to spend a week with 20,000 other people who share your interests ................LOL

and plus , you get to enjoy Iowa's beautiful country side

Fantasy Football

Hello,

This is your (unofficial?) Commissioner for the 2024 ROD Fantasy Football League. I'm turning the leagues back on this year. I have a message for two different audiences:

  1. If you played last year and want to continue: sign back into sleeper and make sure you get invited back to the league. Then leave a message here saying "I'm back and my team is named <insert team name>"
  2. If you are new or did not play last year but want to: Just say "I'm new" and I'll see what I can do. We used Sleeper last year and will continue using it. Depending on the amount of returnees and new folks, I may increase league sizes or create a 3rd league, or do something else entirely.
Right now I'm just gauging interest. But follow this thread as we get closer to get input into draft times, league invites, major rule changes (if any happen), etc.

RIP Malcolm Jamal Warner "Theo Huxtable"

https://www.foxnews.com/entertainme...jamie-foxx-beyonce-honor-late-cosby-show-star

Hollywood stars honored Malcolm-Jamal Warner with moving tributes to "The Cosby Show" actor shared one day after his drowning death in Costa Rica. He was 54.

Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé and Kate Hudson were just a few colleagues who paid respectsonline to Warner.

"Speechless on this one," Foxx shared on Instagram Monday with a photo of "The Resident" star. "Rest in power, my brother."

Beyoncé added an image of Warner to her website, and wrote, "Rest in power, Malcolm-Jamal Warner. For being a big part of our shared television history. You will be missed."

"Spent time working on a film in Australia with Malcolm and he was the kindest and sweetest," Kate Hudson wrote on her Instagram stories. "My heart is heavy and sending such love to @malcolmjamalwar family."

"Heartbroken to hear about the passing of Malcolm-Jamal Warner. Working alongside him on The Resident was an honor," Morris Chestnut shared online. "He brought so much depth, warmth, and wisdom to every scene and every conversation. One of the nicest in the business. Rest easy, brother. Your legacy lives on."

"Everyone at Fox is heartbroken by the tragic loss of our friend and colleague, the extraordinary Malcolm-Jamal Warner," the network said in a statement shared with The Associated Press. "While his iconic roles – from comedic to dramatic – are unforgettable and timeless, Malcolm will be remembered most for his warmth, kind heart and the lasting impact he had on his friends, family and fans everywhere. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and loved ones."

Warner's former "9-1-1" co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt posted in her Instagram stories, "I cannot believe this. This hurts my heart. A gentleman, an incredible talent and we were so lucky to have him in the 911 family. Heartbroken and sending love to his family."

Tracee Ellis Ross shared a carousel of images with Warner online, and wrote, "I love you, Malcolm. First I met you as Theo with the rest of the world then you were my first TV husband. My heart is so so sad. What an actor and friend you were: warm, gentle, present, kind, thoughtful, deep, funny, elegant. You made the world a brighter place. Sending so much love to your family. I’m so sorry for this unimaginable loss."

Viola Davis wrote on Instagram, "I actually am speechless!!!!! No words! Theo was our son, our brother, our friend... He was absolutely so familiar, and we rejoiced at how TV got it right!! But... Malcolm got it right... and now... we reveled in your life and are gutted by this loss. Blessings and prayers to your family and loved ones... We will speak your name—always."

Taraji P. Henson admitted Warner's death "hurt" in a post shared online. "Malcolm, we grew up with you," she wrote. "Thank you for the art, the wisdom, the grace you gave us!!!!! You left the world better than you found it. Rest easy, king!!!! Your legacy lives far beyond the screen."

Warner co-hosted the "Not All Hood" podcast with Candace Kelly, a platform where different lived experiences were discussed from within the Black community.

"We’re heartbroken by the unexpected passing of Malcolm-Jamal Warner," the Fanbase network said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital. "On Fanbase, he showed us what it means to be a creator with purpose, Malcolm brought intention, integrity, and brilliance wherever he was. His legacy runs deep and we were honored to witness it. His voice as a Black man in America shaped generations and reminded creators everywhere of the power of speaking truth through their work. The Fanbase community joins the world in mourning his loss and honoring the impact he had on culture. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all those who were inspired by his light."

Warner was swimming Sunday at Playa Grande de Cocles in the Limon province when a current pulled him into deeper waters, Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Department claimed.

"He was rescued by people on the beach," an initial report stated, but first responders could not revive the actor.

Warner gained fame as the son of Heathcliff Huxtable, played by Bill Cosby, on "The Cosby Show" from 1984 to 1992. He appeared in all 197 episodes of the NBC sitcom.

In 1986, Warner earned an Emmy nomination for best supporting actor in a comedy.

The show's legacy was tarnished after Cosby was accused of sexual assault. Cosby's 2018 conviction was overturned in 2021. Since then, five more women have come forward with accusations against the comedian.

Despite the controversy, Warner was still proud of the show.

"Regardless of how some people may feel about the show now, I'm still proud of the legacy and having been a part of such an iconic show that had such a profound impact on – first and foremost, Black culture – but also American culture," Warner told People magazine in 2023.

Rams' Kobie Turner has this game circled on 2025 schedule

Kobie Turner already knows which game he's looking forward to most on the teams' 2025 regular-season schedule.
The Los Angeles Rams' defensive tackle told NFL Network's The Insiders recently that he's been excited for a rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3 since he saw when the game would take place.
"I've had that loss in the back of my mind for a while," Turner said. "Obviously, it's on to a new season and on to continue to progress, but I definitely have — I believe it's Week 3 — circled. I mean, even in the individual training right now, we're breaking down, 'OK, this is how some of the guys, some of the offensive linemen for the Eagles, this is how they block, and this is how we're going to defeat that.'"
L.A. lost to the eventual Super Bowl champions twice in 2024: First in Week 12 and then by just six points in the NFC Divisional Round. The defense played a big role in both defeats after giving up 599 combined rushing yards in those two games, 460 of which from the legs of running back Saquon Barkley.
"So, I mean, ultimately, the thing that really got us last year is there's a couple of big runs," Turner added. "We stopped the run for the most part, handled it really well, but a couple of those runs where we didn't fit it up right, where Saquon was able to get to the second level fast, and he's super dangerous there. So at the end of the day, it's about getting Saquon down, and that's what we're gonna do a lot better of this year, making sure that we stop the run on the run."
To combat this, the Rams upgraded their defensive front with the addition of nose tackle Poona Ford. L.A. also drafted Ohio State defensive tackle Ty Hamilton in the fifth round to add to the team's depth.
Turner doesn't want to continue to dwell on the past, but he didn't deny he's excited for a shot at revenge so early in the season.
"I'm just super excited to be able to run that back," he said. "Obviously those guys are Super Bowl champs, they won it, they deserve it and whatnot, but this year's a new year, and man, we definitely have that game circled, I definitely have that game circled, and I'm super excited to get another crack at those guys."
