Let me preface this by saying that I realize that Stafford has won the NFC offensive player of the week twice, and currently leads the league in passing yards. I am not complaining. I am wondering if any of you out there are as concerned with his slow starts in the last three games. I am not doubting the QB's abilities at all, and I an damn sure glad that he is a Ram, but slow starts against an agressively offensive team coupled with our current defensive scheme might cause us games in the rest ofthe season. Once again, we are 4-1, and I am not complaining. Does anyone else see this, or does this opinion reek of armchair.
49’ers at Cardinals the big late game for Rams fans. Could Trey Lance surprise them, with so little NFL tape on him? Or does a rookie spell doom for the 49’ers?
How about the early games? Kind of ho-hum on the rivalry side, and not really an elite game in that TV spot. There appears a few good games, potentially... but a bit of a yawner with the early games, IMO.
The Sunday night‘er should be fun.

IMO it's the worst run union of the major sports and he's a large reason of it. Add to that the fact there's a very large discrepancy between the top and bottom rungs of the player base. I'm reading in this and other spots he sounds lucky to have been retained.
I'm sure this news has been posted on here somewhere already, but it's such good news I thought it was deserving of its own thread.
Looked to me like Darious had an "eversion" ankle sprain, which is indicative of the potentially more-serious "high" ankle sprain. (The "inversion" ankle sprain is much more common and typically less serious). Regardless-- Darious' sprain is "mild." As of now it sounds like he might even be available for the Giants game.
The way Darious was limping, I was concerned that we might have a few weeks having to rely on Rochell and Long as CB 2 and 3.
We're thin at CB, so it's great news that DWill's injury isn't serious.
If so what position would you like to add?
I would like to add a nickel CB to keep Long Jr on the bench. Have #31 focused on boundary CB and bring in a vet slot CB to help stop the bleeding.
I still believe in Burgess and Scott. Morris is still figuring things out, or that’s my hope
Ready think our DL rotation is finally taking shape and by seasons end.
Q: how many prayers do we need to do the day after game day for Lewis’s knee?
I figure we've got 10 days before we win our next game so plenty of time to talk Rams and also division football.
Here's the question. Do you fire Carroll and keep Wilson or trade Wilson and keep Carroll? Maybe you do a full reset and move on from both...or do nothing.
Obviously as Rams fans we'd like to see the worst possible outcome, but for the purposes of this poll and discussion...you're the GM. How do you fix that mess?
So what exactly happened to Darious Williams? Is he, as many have asserted, just playing badly?
I think the scheme may be the issue... and these numbers suggest I may be right.
What the advanced stats show is consistent with what most of us have seen... the CBs are playing way off the line, allowing a high percentage of completions, albeit on shorter passes.
Within this somewhat questionable scheme, the numbers suggest that DWill has not fared all that badly.
For example, in 2020, the average distance of passes thrown at DWill was 14.1 yards. This year, its only 6.8 yards! Though he's allowing a higher percentage of completions (again, not surprisingly), the average yards allowed per target has gone down from 6.7 in 2020 to 5.6 this year. Similarly, the average yards per completion against DWill is down from 12.3 a year ago to 8.4 this year.
Playing off the ball, tackling is key. Well, last year, DWill had a missed tackle rate of 10.2%. This year, its 3.3% (the same as Jalen Ramsey!).
So, what we're seeing is DWill giving up more completions, and a higher percentage, but they are mostly on short passes that are easy to complete against off the ball coverage. He is doing his job of making tackles, and has only given up 1 TD pass this year.
So, I'd assert that the problem is the scheme. I'd like to see DWill being permitted to play more aggressively, as he demonstrated the ability to make plays last year in such a scheme.
The sub-par safety play may impact that approach, but I do think we can mix in more press coverage by a guy like DWill without giving up big plays, and if it means he starts producing takeaways again, that's a good tradeoff.
If anybody cares to answer, just looking for thoughts.
Have a tentative offer of Aaron Rodgers for Trey Lance (I get Rodgers) from his owner who is 0-4 and about giving up on the year. Wants Lance's keeper upside, as do I to some degree at least.
Issue is I have Herbert at QB1 and am happy with him. Team is 2-2 but I haven't been bad, just haven't been great.
Trying to figure out if adding Rodgers gives enough 'great' each week to add some wins and change my season. Thoughts...?
Last week he looked bad, almost Goffesque and I was really worried. I presumed it must be something other than he forgot how to play football.
Watching last nights game I had a sinking feeling when he missed a couple of easy throws that would have kept drives going.
You guys may have known he had finger issues, but other than the pre-season knock I'd not heard anything.
So when the announcers mentioned it and they focussed on the tape I was actually relieved.
Now, if that injury lingers for weeks on end that relief will turn into vomit-inducing anxiety, but until then I'll remain happy he got as a crucial win.
Andrew Whitworth, Brian Allen, and company take on Seattle’s front-seven
www.turfshowtimes.com
The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Seattle Seahawks 26-17 on Thursday Night Football. Though Matthew Stafford and company started slow, the offensive line helped lead a 23 point burst in the second half, proving too much for the division rivals.
The front five certainly had their hands full facing an energized group of play makers on Seattle’s defense, but there was one in particular that the offensive line had to key on, based on his production thus far this season.
Pass Protection: B+
Andrew Whitworth and Rob Havenstein had the most important job in pass protection against the Seahawks. As previously mentioned, the most significant aspect of protecting Matthew Stafford against Seattle started with locating and blocking defensive end Darrell Taylor. Unfortunately, Taylor did get to Stafford for a sack early in the contest. However, he was being blocked by tight end Tyler Higbee, not the offensive line.
For the second straight week, the big men upfront did not allow a single sack. That effort in itself is going to go a long way in Los Angeles winning a bunch of games this season.
However, playing devil’s advocate, Stafford was under pressure a bit much against the Seahawks. I noticed him getting hit after quite a few throws. It will be interesting to see the official number of pressures and hits once those advanced stats are published.
Penalties: A-
While the Rams offensive line wasn’t credited with a single penalty against Seattle, they did have a bit of a communication breakdown. L.A. found themselves facing a third and five near midfield, a few plays after an interception by Troy Reeder, when the offense was called for a delay of game.
Linebackers Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks showed interior pressure but bailed out with only three seconds left on the play clock. Stafford was calling for the snap, notifying right guard Austin Corbett to communicate to the center to snap the ball, as most teams do while operating silent count principles.
Unfortunately Brian Allen was resetting the pass protection to account for less potential blitzers, and he did not snap the ball. That penalty changed third and five to third and 10, which the Rams then called a give up run play near midfield, negating great field position. Credit the defense for the trickery, but Allen probably shouldn’t try to reset the protection in under three seconds in such a hostile environment.
Henderson led the way, averaging an impressive 4.8 per yards per carry. I would have loved to see what his final numbers would have been had he not got banged up in the second quarter. My fantasy team would have loved it too.
Left guard David Edwards found this out the hard way, as defensive tackle Al Woods knifed up field, shedding Edwards’ block attempt on the way to tackle Sony Michel for a one yard loss on third and one, forcing a field goal to end a 14 play drive. While this was a very unfortunate time and situation for the whiff, L.A.’s offensive line played well in the run game.
The Rams offensive line will look to continue their exceptional play against the New York Giants, who allow 122 rushing yards per game, while only sacking opposing quarterbacks six times this year. Time for the big guys to eat!
Been posting on this for several weeks now it's about time that Mcvay turns this offense over to the OL & let them control these gms while He & Morris try to figure out about that one sorry defensive backfield!
How can you not do this while we have all five healthy OL'ers & performing as a highly effective smooth powerful engine!
I've had that exact same injury. The cure is simple. Immobilize the finger in the straight position. It takes a number of weeks to heal. If you don't immobilize the finger in a straight position is heals in that crooked position and you can't straighten that finger once it's healed. Whether he's going to be able to throw with his middle finger straight out is the problem. His grip won't be as good that is for sure.
IMO the way Geno Smith played would probably see him in that starting role until Wilson's finger heals.
Granted, he has to stay healthy, and that is where he has struggled in the past. This Pre-Season, he missed a lot of time, and I felt like he might not be available much, but he has been playing a lot, and is starting to jump off the screen a little. Hope the guy stays healthy, He could be a real steal if he does.
1. A bit messy, and some fourth quarter nail-biting, but a very solid win in the end.
2. We really needed that one.
3. Matthew Stafford had an uneven night. He revealed after the game that he dislocated his finger and popped it back in (been there, done that). That might account for some of the errant throws. He's a tough guy, though, and made more than enough plays in the end.
4. Robert Woods had a great "remember me?" performance.
5. And Cooper Kupp did his thing too!
6. Darrell Henderson and Sony Michel combined for 28 carries, 119 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs, and 2 receptions for 25 yards. When we lost Cam Akers, we were justifiably worried, but our RB corps really did their job tonight.
7. The defense also was a bit uneven, but overall, you have to like the night they put together, holding the Seahawks to 354 yards, 5.9 yards per play, and forcing two turnovers. They were lights out in the 3rd quarter when the Rams turned the game around.
8. Geno Smith played well in the fourth quarter. He may play again, as I would not be surprised if it turns out that Russell Wilson broke his middle finger (Pete Carroll just said it was a bad sprain, but we'll see).
9. Aaron Donald is playing well, as usual.
10. Leonard Floyd was in the backfield and Wilson's face all day.
12. Terrell Lewis is starting to be a player you really notice on the field.
13. We're definitely having a problem at the 3rd CB spot. I think Rochelle (who, after some bad plays, made a nice play in the end zone in the 4th quarter) is the guy with the most upside.
14. What happened to Terrell Burgess? Seems like he should have a role.
15. Matt Gay had a bad night, but hit an important FG at the end to somewhat redeem himself.
16. That double-punt was one of the oddest plays I've ever seen, and I'm not sure the refs got it right.
17. Certainly was one of the least productive blocked punts in the end.
18. Great thing about a Thursday night win is you get those extra days to rest while basking in the glow of victory.
19. Next three opponents: Giants, Lions, Texans. There are no gimmees in this league, but let's just say there is an opportunity there.
20. Sean McVay is 6-3 (regular season) and 1-0 (playoffs) against the Seahawks. Those Seattle fan must really hate us!
Ok you rich bastids, time to go on a year long cruise!
Mt wife and I discussed this and wondered what it might cost to do it and it's not cheap. The example used was the Carnival Horizon, which I believe is the newest Carnival cruise ship with the most amenities. The cost of a double occupancy stay onboard per the average cost (per cruise), would work out to be about $175,000. This takes care of everything: passage, port fees & taxes, tipping, and average amounts spent for extra things. for the year The cabin is a open balcony cabin, which the YouTuber thought would be a livable space for that length of time. I watched a separate video of the ship and it's a lively time, 24 hours a day it seems (if you want that). The ship would reach every tourist spot in the Caribbean.
For me, this would be fine for me in patches, but it's a bit like having an apartment inside a mall. The part that attracts me the most is watching the ocean go by, which is a pleasure I miss from my time at sea. I would spend hours reading and being near the water, watching the dolphins race the ship.
Does this sound fun if you had the disposable income to do it, like our boy @Merlin ?

I know much has been made of the drop off in play of the Rams defense from Staley to Morris. A buddy of mine published an article looking at the year over year decline in performance of the WFT defense, but the Rams decline stuck out even more in his analysis. The Rams demise on a per drive basis is the second worst year over year going back to the past 20+ years.
