DJax being waived. Interesting comment from Rams

So they're waiving him, but I found this interesting:

"Jackson, 34, was willing to stay with the Rams but the team will give a him chance for more playing time elsewhere, the sources said"...

He overplayed his hand, methinks. Sucks to not be a "We Not Me" guy...

Power Rankings a joke

How does two loss, one to us, Tampon Bay end up ranked higher than us? Them coming off loss, us blow out win…in spite of dropping 3 spots but stay above in spite of the fact they lost and we blew out our victims….playing reserves the 4th quarter…..and still dropped a spot.

and don’t get me started about the sucking cowboy dick…..

zues is a fucking moron….full stop

Stat of the Week: Week 8 (Unhappy Returns, and Why They Haven’t Hurt Us)

Its not your imagination. The Rams have been bad in the return game this year.

Kickoff returns: 17.7 yards/return (tied for 30th)
Punt returns: 5.6 yards/return (28th)

Fortunately, the Rams are second in the NFL (behind Kansas City) in yards/drive at 42.58 and first in both points/drive and TDs/drive.

So...

If we could just get the return game going...

State of the West

Now that we’ve all calmed down a bit, what’s the state of the west now?
Might as well start at the bottom, the Hags are due to get Russell back after the bye and Seattle homer cowherd thinks they’re going on some kind of run but I don’t really see it. I just don’t think they have the firepower to stay with the rest of the contenders. Russells probably not thrilled about having somebody besides AD to watch out for. Outside shot at the wild card.
Also showing signs of life are the 9ers, Garapalo seems to be on a mission, and Kittle’s coming back I believe. But if the bears weren’t the bears they coulda won that game, Don’t know if you can expect Debo to go nuts every game and that secondary still can be had. Can 10-7 get them in the playoffs? That would be quite a feat with a bunch of division games coming up. They could be back to full strength by the time we play them and looking desperate, but the way Jimmy’s throwing himself around like he dgaf he might be in street clothes soon.

The Cards didn’t have their best effort against Green Bay and I think some of Kyler’s issues showed up when he gets knocked around. It’s gotta be concerning that a short handed GB team was able to score that much. No JJ but Chandler Jones is back. They should be able to get back on track unless they totally shit the bed like last year.

The Rams still have to face Rogers and Lamar as well as a bunch of division games so there’s nothing guaranteed by an excellent start. The run game could be better but I don’t think McVay wants to expose Henderson too much. This offense can go toe to toe with anyone in the league. The d has had its issues though which led to the blockbuster move. The rams will have to get through Brady and Rogers and Dak and Kyler to get to the ultimate goal, and it might come down to 1 or 2 stops, being able to trot out one of the best d lines in football (on paper) will hopefully be enough to help the somewhat shaky back end.
This is about to get good.

I'm not digging this trade sorry!

We all know how great Von is that is not the issue for me.

Short term he will most likely be a plus, but long-term we lose 2 more semi valuable draft picks and to me he is oh the backside of his career I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.

We imo should want Howard or Jack you pay for them but we get a solid 4 plus top notch play out of them. How much longer do we keep Von? We need depth always and we are killing what little draft capital we have. I'm d gladly pay for a stud in his prime like Ramsey was. That was Von 6 years ago at age 26 now he is 32 no disrespect i truly wish you the best. Honestly it is not about the picks, it's a the logic behind this deal why. I get short term as I said but what about the future. He is not the future that is why I think it was a bad move.

Atwell ain't feeling well.....needs season-ending surgery

Tutu Atwell’s rookie season will end prematurely and without a single reception. Sean McVay told reporters Monday that Atwell suffered a shoulder injury against the Texans that will require surgery. He will be placed on injured reserve and miss the rest of the season.

The injury occurred on a punt return in the second half of Sunday’s game against Houston. He was immediately ruled questionable to return and never got back on the field after heading to the locker room.

This actually may work out best for the Rams and Tutu. We get to use his spot on the 53 for somebody who can actually make a positive contribution and Atwell gets some time to reflect on what he needs to do to become a NFL quality player.

Hope he spends a lot of time in the film room and comes back next year ready to go.

And speaking of "go", GO RAMS!!

Angry Ram's Rams v Texans Game Adventure

Well this was a fun experience on Halloween. Let me start with the Texans. Cal McNair and the rest of their top "executives" can go suck on eggs. How the hell do you still charge $100 for AVERAGE seats for such a shit team?! Also, NRG Stadium is showing its age a bit. Looked kinda dank. And open the dang roof, it was an absolutely beautiful day outside. Fuckin morons. The fans are cool, they just want a competent team. Lot of paper bags tho lol. Counted 3 in my section alone.

When I pulled up about 9:45, ppl were already tailgating cool. But they were Rams fans. Then more showed up. Then even more. And then some. Eventually we all congregated at some massive tailgate with a bunch of Texans fans too which was a helluva good time.

I'd say about 40% of the stadium was filled (and that's being generous). Of that 40%, I'd estimate about 20 - 25% were Rams fans. I seriously could not believe or get over the number of Rams fan fully decked out. Shirts, jerseys, cosplay, draping themselves in flags. My jaw dropped b/c I never encountered another one in my time here. The whole visitor side might has well been a home game. I was surrounded by my brethren, w/ some Texans scattered about. Hell, at one point in the 3rd quarter I felt bad for the mascot and cheerleaders b/c they had to look at our side and do their jobs in front of the opponents fans. It was super awkward lol.

Anyway, let's get to the game itself. I'm not gonna go into an actual analysis b/c there's plenty of that out there. This is just what I witnessed.

- Warm ups pretty much was all STs. The QBs came out and threw the ball around, Cooper Kupp, Ben Skowronek, and former Texan Buddy Howell came out for a bit too. Jalen Ramsey came out looking like an assaulter. He just looked pissed off lol.

-During the entrances Johnny Hekker and Matt Gay were like in the middle of the Texans player intros, almost in their way. Funny to see.

-Darrell Henderson is a big dude in person; not tall but short and chunky but really fast. He's got a weird body type, but hey it works!

-I hope those that are lucky enough to see multiple games a year don't take Matthew Stafford for granted. That guy is a quarterback. Dude is so cool in the pocket and that arm. Oh boy that bomb to Van was sexy AF.

-Speaking of Van, yall saw it but I saw him on the ground yelling. We were all surprised seeing him in the 4th qtr. Crazy.

-Cooper Kupp on that catch and run was right by our section! Holy hell. Same with Robert Woods almost TD on that screen pass.

-Yooo speaking of Robert Woods, that end around fake thing was on the far side of the field, so seeing it at a different angle and behind didn't really do it justice how slick MS was on selling it. Fantastic.

-Hope yall heard the COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPP chants on tv. It was pretty loud on our side.

-Defense. Oh boy. The first sack they had w/ Jalen Ramsey jumping up looked like Roman Reigns doing a superman punch!

-Aaron Donald live. Nuff said.

-Earnest Jones' pick and the reaction! They celebrated right by us!

-Earnest Jones also had some MAN tackles.

-Rest of D was nasty to see.

Other non-game stuff:

Wade Phillips during pre-game; a # of former Rams and our trader Les went to greet him.

Sean McVay is just like what you see on tv. He does that patented one arm cross, the other on his chin, walking by himself w/ his head up staring into space. It was a little surreal to see him in person like that.

OK the 4th qtr. That was fun w/ all the garbage time points. Texans fans were going nuts because they finally got to see something. After the onside they went wild, and then they scored again it was insanity. And this time it was not b/c they were scoring. It was because of the spread lol and wondering if the Texans had covered. What really made me laugh is a lot of the Rams fans started rooting for the Texans too b/c they made it mildly entertaining. Yay aesthetically pleasing scoring! Great time.

And no. I didn't get into any fights in or out of the game (surprisingly. ha.). Anyway, here's some pics and video of Robert Woods' TD!

MNF - Giants at Chiefs

Monday Night Football: New York Giants vs. Kansas City Chiefs

"Monday Night Football" this week features the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the New York Giants, and if you had said before the season that these two teams would be separated by one win, I'd have said you were nuts. It might also have been more likely that the Giants were having a great start than the Chiefs would have a losing record.

Both teams are familiar with this prime-time slot. The Giants lost both MNF tilts last year, falling to the Steelers and Buccaneers, while Kansas City picked up a win over the Ravens. And it was an ugly affair the last time these two teams faced off back in 2017 as the Giants won 12-9 in a game that featured five field goals and a touchdown run from Orleans Darkwa.

The 2021 edition of the Giants (2-5) are feeling good after a dominant 25-3 win over Carolina at home last week. They held the Panthers to 173 yards of offense and just 11 first downs. Daniel Jones was an efficient 23-for-33 for 203 yds and a touchdown. The team did struggle scoring touchdowns as Graham Gano connected on field goals from 44, 49, and 53 yards out.

The Chiefs (3-4) are not feeling as good after a 27-3 loss at Tennessee. Kansas City has lost four of its last six after a season-opening win over the Browns. Patrick Mahomes was the team's leading rusher with just 35 yards. He also managed just 206 yards through the air before leaving the game in the fourth quarter after taking a knee to the head. The defense continued to struggle, giving up 379 yards and allowing the Titans to control the ball for more than 36 minutes.

Monday Night Football: New York (2-5) at Kansas City (3-4)

Kickoff: Monday, Nov. 1 at 8:20 p.m. ET
TV: ESPN
Spread: Chiefs -9.5

Three Things to Watch

1. Intangibles

The Giants are hitting the road after two straight at home. Sometimes bad teams can build off solid wins like New York had last week. There really shouldn't be an issue with focus considering up next is a home matchup with the Raiders in Week 9 before a Week 10 bye. Kansas City may have a confidence issue after another brutal loss. The Chiefs can't afford to overlook this contest with the division getting away from them a bit. Up next is a high-profile matchup Sunday at home against the Packers.

2. Bad offense vs. bad defense

The Giants have the 26th-ranked rushing offense to go along with the 13th-ranked passing attack. Kansas City has the 27th-ranked rushing defense and the 26th-ranked passing defense. By the numbers, Jones should be able to find some success, but this also is the same team that has cracked the 20-point mark just three times over seven weeks. Devontae Booker's best rushing effort came last week when he had just 51 yards on 14 carries. Booker continues to full in for Saquon Barkley, who hasn't been able to practice since injuring his ankle in Week 5.

Because of the Giants' inability to run, teams have been able to load up the blitz against Jones and cover his wide receivers, who also have been in and out of the lineup. Barkley and Kenny Golladay (knee) have already been ruled out, but the team is hopeful of getting both Sterling Shepard (hamstring) and Kadarius Toney (ankle) back. They and tight end Evan Engram (calf) have been limited in practice but all three are trending in the right direction. New York may not have the same firepower on offense that Kansas City possesses but getting a few key pieces back should help even things out a bit, especially given the Chiefs' defensive struggles.

3. Is that you, Patrick?

Mahomes' 206 passing yards last week were his lowest output since Oct. 25, 2020, when Mahomes put up 200 yards on the Broncos in a 43-16 victory in Week 7. He already has thrown nine interceptions, tying him with rookie Zach Wilson for the most in the NFL. It's also one more than he threw all of last season, including three playoff games (18 total). He's had just one turnover-free game so far, and that was back in Week 1. To be fair, a few of the interceptions were on tipped passes, but it's clear that something is off with Mahomes.

The Giants haven't been terrible against the pass this season, ranking 13th at 243.1 yards per game allowed. But they've also given up 14 touchdown passes compared to six interceptions. Monday night represents as good an opportunity as Mahomes and company will have to start turning things around, especially since it seems like the offense will have to carry this team if the Chiefs are to become a real threat in the AFC.

Final Analysis

Most seasons, this wouldn't even be a question, as I'd take the Chiefs and spare you the word count. I'm still going to take Kansas City in this one because of home-field advantage and I still trust Mahomes more than Jones. I also lean to the better head coach in Andy Reid over Joe Judge, who I'm convinced isn't that great at his job. For one week, all will be well in Kansas City as the Chiefs get the much-needed win on Monday night.

Prediction: Chiefs 27, Giants 20

New defensive wrinkle

Jourdan points this out in her new Athletic piece (which I highly recommend peeps buy and read!) that twice the Rams aligned in a 4-3 alignment with Ramsey in "Star", Rapp in the middle, and Jones outside and this was a new alignment not previously shown.

Jones interception was from this alignment.

Rapp playing quite a bit more down near the line of scrimmage. It does seem like they feel like Jones is going to give them more position flexibility than what they had with Young.

Methinks Cardinal Fans Are A Lil' Worried...

Fans normally have a crisis of confidence after a loss. There was a report and thread that Murray's leg was sprained a little more seriously than first thought and might be out 1-3 weeks, eliciting overreactions as you would expect..." Oh sure, now that we are 7-1, down goes our QB! We're finishing 7-10!" lol

Then there is a thread where the OP asserts that Kingsberry is still the best HC in the NFC West, with the poster reasoning that because the Cards beat the Rams and therefore that reflects of Sean McVay's coaching......

It seems like many are whistling past the graveyard....

DJax leaving... Skowronek and Harris up... Tutu totaled

So, it looks like DJax as we all know is on his way out in either a trade or quite possibly a release. The announcers at todays game talked to O'Connell and he mentioned that with DJax on his way out, Skowronek and Harris would need to step up. No mention of Tutu. Add to that Tutu's injured shoulder wherein he didn't even return to the sideline and I think it legitimately only leaves us with Skow and Harris as additional receiving threats.

Count me as someone who's not particularly worried. Skowronek is a little slow but he showed up when needed in the game and Harris may be able to add a speed element to the offense that we might only marginally need with Kupp and Jefferson's abilities to be schemed deep.

If Tutu is injured and needs to go on IR, I'd consider shutting him down for the year and grabbing Trishton Jackson off the Vikings practice squad and elevating him. Jackson seemed to do everything Tutu does during TC but better, maybe not as fast. Think it's a lost year for Tutu and hopefully after a year in an NFL program he can come back with a redefined body and better work ethic.

Wolfy

I’m feeling less than comfortable with our back-up after seeing him in garbage time during this stretch of games.

Of course we’re totally screwed if we have to depend on him but there has to be better options out there.

Keenum played pretty damn good for the Browns last week. Saints have been battling the Bucs with Siemian. Not sure we could be competitive without Stafford.

Rams NFL sack leaders

Sure, some of this has been gained against softer opponents, but after 8 games, the Rams lead the NFL with sacks at 25. Minnesota his 21 with a game to play still today, so this could be temporary.
Still, for many of us, pass rush was a concern. I wouldn't say worry, but concern, after losing Fox, Ebukam and Brockers.
Fox has one sack. Same for Brock. Same for Samson.

There were at least a few people who felt Floyd was overpaid and I think we can agree that it doesn't look like it.
Obo is spunky, Lewis has been a bigger presence than expected, Jamir Jones looks like he's at least on par with Ebukam as a pass rusher.. it's been fun.

The pass rush has been a strength, overall... if we can get Williams and Rochell healthy, I think they'll have enough pieces in place to really start putting together some good games. Donte Deayon has been a complete surprise to me... a fun one. Really nice 4th corner.
