Tampa Bay was 7-5 last year with a 38-3 loss

Lets put this into perspective a bit. Yes the last 2 weeks SUKED!!!

However this is the NFL, every team is flawed, EVERY team.

Last year TB was 7-5 and won the SB, it sure didn't look great for them when they were 7-5 as it doesnt look great for us now.

This BYE could not have come at a better time for this team. Will they beat GB? I have no idea, what I do know is if we don't turn the ball over twice in the 1st quarter we will be competitive with a chance to win. I'm not saying the 2 picks caused both losses but man it is really tough to come back from that.

We win a couple here in a row and the whole mood of the team shifts...that's what I'm banking on.

Stay positive....

Making me laugh with the "soft" and "not physical" stuff repeated over and over

This is the nfl - people hit the hardest and fastest - you have to be straight fucking insane to go out there.

Outside of the kicker everyone else is risking getting possibly killed or seriously injured by the biggest and fastest humans on earth.

Like people calling the defense "soft"

Aaron donald is soft? Jalen Ramsey is soft? Taylor Rapp is soft?

Football games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage most of the time - but to simply say a team is "soft" because the other team won that battle is laughable.
.
Our issues with the 49ners are style and scheme - they have shit to do with "soft"

If the Rams suddenly ran the ball 75% of the time - they would suddenly not be soft anymore?

not really - its just a different style.

What's your guilty pleasure movie

What's that movie that was garbage by either critic reviews, viewer reviews/opinion or box office results? Mine might just be Battleship. It was like 34% on rottentomatoes.com. Fan reviews have it about 50% but it actually made money. I don't know what it is but I enjoy this shitty movie :D And it isn't just because of the leading lady.

I was going to put in Tank Girl because it was generally panned by all metrics but it has a kind of cult following so not sure I could list that.

This game sent me back in time.

To the days when I find out the final score before deciding to watch them or just read about it on my computer. I can't bring myself to watch this flawed product they are putting on the field, each week. McVay and Morris along with the special teams coach should all be fired for not being able to win, with the players that are on this roster. It is excruciating to watch the way this team performs and it is on the coaches, starting with the head coach.

I scarcely recognize my Rams team anymore…

Let’s see…

First of all, Jourdan wrote a gem of an article about this game. It’s pointless to post excerpts because the whole damned article is an elite piece of work. If you haven’t yet subscribed then it’s your loss and you don’t even know what you’re missing.

Who is this imposter imitating Matthew Stafford? 4 interceptions in 2 games (2 of which were pick 6’s)? Overthrowing or throwing behind receivers constantly? Spotting opponents big leads in the first quarter? I want the REAL Stafford back, dammit!

McVay critics certainly have a target rich environment, don’t they? Only 9 called running plays when both Hendo and Michel were averaging over 5 yards a pop? Played right into Shanny’s hands. Yep, McVay panics too early and bails on a productive running game. Never seems to learn, either. Blows my mind.

I read that there were at least 6 dropped passes by various receivers. And just when Stafford needed all the extra help he could get with Woods out. Sigh…

Our ST are league bottom feeders with the exception of Matt Gay. And was that fake FG embarrassing, or what? 49ers were all over that. That’s superior coaching.

Speaking of coaching, I’ve tried my best to give Morris the benefit of the doubt lately but I now feel that he’s in over his head. Defending the deep pass when Shanny is running the ball down our throats? Uselessly blitzing Ramsey while Samuels or Kittle are eating us alive? Continued sloppy tackling. DaSilva had a nice piece describing how Shanny attacked the middle of the field mercilessly because of our weakness there. Morris is looking like a bad hire.

49ers had over 39 minutes TOP? How in the world can Rams win by spotting 49ers 2 turnovers including a pick-6, a 14 point lead, and a 2-1 TOP advantage? Unreal. Plenty of blame for both Ram O and D for this embarrassing stat.

Time to admit the obvious. Shanny owns McVay and proves it by having his 3-5 team just pound the Rams all night long in every way imaginable. I had feared (and posted) that Shanny would use the Titan blueprint against McVay and did he ever! Gotta be stinging McVay something fierce this morning.

Not gonna critique the newbies Miller and OBJ because they’ve hardly had a chance to learn where their locker is much less absorb their respective systems. But it is fair to say that neither overwhelmed me last night.

Speaking of last night, why do the Rams have to pick PrimeTime games to humiliate themselves? Arrrrrgh…

Well, after watching these last 2 debacles I can only imagine what the Packers might do to us. Gulp…

Rams do have a lot of very talented players on both sides of the ball. But you know what? They’re not playing well as a team, have too many lapses of execution, and frankly I believe that they’re being hampered by some slipshod coaching on both sides of the ball. IOW, Rams are their own worst enemies and the Titans and 49ers have exposed them for all to see.

Know what upsets me the most in losses? It’s when I see our Rams underperform. That’s what upsets me most of all.

Odell Beckham Fit

Something just doesn’t feel right in regards to him being a Ram, i can’t pinpoint it. Hopefully he fits in contributes in a positive way and helps the team win. Maybe all the glitz and glamor of these trades and signings are a distraction at this point. Something just doesn’t feel right. I know winning cures all of that... but im just not feeling it. Also Woods will be missed greatly. Hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving.

PREGAME Recipe for Green Bay

They've got a fine defense, giving up only 18 ppg which is good for 3rd in scoring. If McVay thinks he's going to be able to ignore the run game vs them we're gonna see more of this shit after the bye. I realize McVay is very good out the bye. But he's also very good after a loss and still his team was flat and got punched in the face again last night. This game has LOSS written all over it if his ego continues to drive his decision making.

This next two weeks in practice they need to focus on the RUN game and stopping the RUN. They need to find their practice pads, dust them off, and actually use them to practice some physicality. Fuck practice efficiency and walkthroughs. Run some tackling drills and stack/shed practice. Get ready to blow these clowns off the ball on both sides. Treat this like a playoff game.

MICHEL needs to start this game. He needs to get 20+ carries so he can get into a rhythm. He is a physical element our offense sorely needs and I don't want to see Hendy's ass out there until the second quarter to ensure that Michel gets into a groove bumpin and thumpin around in there grounding this offense. The threat of that power on the ground will change the dynamic of what the defense presents.

Defensively if you give Rodgers a run game you're effed. They run our offense and their backfield is loaded with speed and power. Stuff the run first priority. Second priority is taking away early reads because he's gonna have a real hard time if AD and company can get home which they will whenever a QB isn't completing 5-10 yard passes in 1.5 seconds. Get this game played to our strengths and it gives us our best chance against them.

This defense has failed to play to our strengths all season long, allowing teams to drive up and down the field no matter who it is. I get playing it safe especially against a savvy dude like Rodgers but we're gonna have to take some calculated risks in this one. They've already effed away hope of being a top seed. Now they can quit planning parades and get down to business i.e. doing some damn work. And yeah I know this is almost a rant. But seriously man they gotta wake up and embrace some basics or this is gonna get ugly because there's some tough games on this sched starting with the Packers. This team is better than both the teams who have kicked our asses the past two weeks.

With the holidays coming up: my Christmas wish list for our 2022 team

I know, I know - anything I ask Santa for can’t realistically be given until the new season. Hence this is my Christmas wishlist of things I’d like to see from this team in 2022,

  • McVay to hand the offense over to a legitimate coordinator - all of it. I think McVay spends too much time focusing on the offensive side of the ball that he loses sight of glaring issues elsewhere. I’m not saying the new OC needs to completely reinvent the wheel but I think it would benefit the entire team to get a fresh perspective on the offense and also an OC we can hold accountable for any short comings.
  • Hire a legitimate, proven DC. The Morris hiring was a mistake. We need to get someone who has proven to be successful as a DC in this league and let them lead the defensive side of the ball. We’ll experience some growing pains but I think the less McVay has to worry about on D, the better.
  • Stop using premium picks on luxuries. Tutu Atwell immediately comes to mind. We had needs elsewhere, let’s use our earlier round picks to draft players we can have contribute sooner rather than later. 6th and 7th round picks may work out but we’re playing to win now, not 3-4 years from now. Or hell, fuck them picks and trade them for a proven player if one is available that fits an area of need.
  • Hoping that the new OC commits to fixing our run game - draft a FB. Just having one on our roster to help the running game would be great. Our WR’s are great blockers but I’d much rather have a 6th round FB leading the way for Akers and Hendo.
  • And last, get a new punter in. If for nothing else than competition. Hekker has been less than stellar and we need a weapon that can flip the field. If that new kicker means we let Hekker go, so be it.
Let’s hear your wish list Ram bros!

I feel strangely calm

There were always going to be growing pains with Stafford. He was arguably the best QB in the NFL two weeks ago and while I am very happy with him overall, he's not THAT good. Some regression was going to happen. Losing Woods also hampered the offense tonight I think.

We have to face the facts that this defense is only meant as a complement - a side dish - to our offense, because of Morris.

But we play at GB in two weeks, which decides our fate: win and we can. Be the number one seed. Lose and it's wildcard, for sure. And for the first time all year, few will expect us to win which will be nice.

And above all - I trust McVay and the talent we have. The offense will get back on track and we will be in the playoffs either way, and as Tampa showed last year, you can get beaten down multiple times in the regular season and still win it all.

Not sure what will happen in GB, but I'm strangely calm and trust McVay will turn this around.

20 Random and Entirely Disgusted Thoughts

1. That was a disgraceful performance.

2. Let's start with the defense. You know exactly what the 49ers are going to do, and you let them. And, in case anyone forgot, this was a 3-5 49ers team - not some world beating juggernaut.

3. Tackling - bad.

4. Coverage on Kittle and Samuel - hideous.

5. Effort level - pathetic.

6. How about the offense? Key drops resulting in a pick 6 and two second half 3 and outs. Plus, a couple by Jefferson. WTF?

7. Stafford was unsteady in the pocket despite only moderate pressure, and off target on many throws.

8. Coaches get a failing grade. Poor game plan on defense and no adjustments. Stupid calls before the half (poorly designed screen pass on second down, idiotic fake FG) prevented Rams from ending first half with some momentum.

9. The running game was fine... but irrelevant.

10. Same could be said about our defensive stars. Donald made plays. Miller did too. Ramsey had some nice break-ups... but irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

11. Do the last two weeks create a blueprint? Yes and no...

12. Yes... for teams that can play tough and physical and have the discipline to march down the field methodically.

13. No... not every opponent is built to play that way... thankfully.

14. Normally, I'd hate having a bye after a loss, but this team desperately needs a week off to regroup.

15. Hopefully, we can use the time to stop welcoming new players on Twitter and refocus on fundamentals.

16. Hopefully, we can use the time to fully integrate two very talented players who can help down the stretch.

17. Hopefully, we can use the time to practice countermeasures for the types of strategies that have killed us in the past two games.

18. Hopefully, McVay will remember how successful his offense can be with a true commitment to the run.

19. The Rams are still in great shape for making the playoffs and only a game back in the division standings (though, with tiebreaker issues, they will probably need to gain two games on Arizona).

20. Me... I'm going to take a few days, maybe a week, to cool off. This has been a tough two weeks. But I'm just a fan... I can't do anything but wait two weeks and hope to see a better effort at Green Bay. Its up to the Rams to regroup and hit the stretch run with a vengeance. The talent is there, but talent is not enough. The Rams need to control the narrative and force teams to play their game. Otherwise... "all in" will go from triumphant rallying cry to punch line.

Duck me, duck me

I couldn't sleep, so I woke up the dogs and the wife to get up to watch the game,

Irritated and angry.

Fuck the 9ers for making me like this

Then I got angry at the TV for not having recorded the game.

More irritated and angrier.

Fuck the 9ers for making me like this

Then I realised the game hadn't even started yet.

Fuck time zones.

Going back to bed, irritated and angry.

Fuck the 9ers for making me like this

Go Rams!

PS. Fuck the 9ers.

The GDT is a live thread tradition here at ROD.

While we all get fired up watching the game, please remember our core principles;we always show respect for our team and each other.

Despite the emotional highs and lows watching a game, we will moderate this thread with that in mind, however please refrain from name calling. This applies to players, the Rams organization, and others.

This is the core rule of the GDT. Moderators are tasked to issue thread bans, at a minimum, to maintain this standard.

This is our team. Win or lose. Good days and bad. We are here for FUN, not to be dragged down.

A more loosely moderated atmosphere can be found in the chat room.

Teams you Hate outside the obvious

Minus the Hawks, Cards, and 49ers, who is/are the team(s) you just can’t stand?

I have a few:

1) Broncos…their fan base is full of complete idiots. Even after getting out played today, I listened to excuses out the WAH-zoo. Blame the Refs, missed calls, and anything else you can think of to excuse their poor play. My GF is one of the worst culprits.

2) Falcons…Talk about the most uninspired teams of all time. They drive me nuts…great win them they play like the last place team they should be!

3) Browns…between listening to Jim Rome call them Americas team and the moron Lebron chiming in I am truly starting to hate this team.

Honorable mention: Vikings (inconsistent), Miami (nightmare of a team), Bengals ( they bumped me out of the survivor pool against the Jets giving up 17 4th quarter points)
