Best team since 2001? SB will make things right.

I think our best Rams team ever, was our 2001 Rams. I mean, I very rarely broke a sweat watching our games that season as we brought in Lovie Smith to shore up our pathetic 2000 defense. We lost 2 games that regular season, one game by 3 points, one game by 7 points. We won 11 games by 7 POINTS OR MORE! 42-10, 35-0, 34-14, 48-14, 35-6, 42-17, 31-13, 45-17? COME ON!?!

If it weren't for the NFL wanting to further the Patriots in support of America post 9/11, we win that game by 24 points. I really was hoping that the rematch from 2018 Super Bowl would have been the revenge game, but we just didn't have the horses, especially after Kupp went down.

Although the Bengals will be a tougher matchup than that 2001 season SB against the Patriots, I'm hoping that we get the blowout we deserved.

Sorry Bengals.

GO RAMS!

SB Key? Running from shotgun.

This is more of a question for some of the better football minds on here... is going from shotgun the best way to neutralize a team that likes to run-blitz on first down?
Was listening to a podcast that really focused on the Bengals D.. and that's one of the tendencies they seem to have.... and that had me wondering about this. The Rams started to run out of SG more this year... my thinking was it makes that run blitz more risky if Stafford is in the gun.. so they may not crowd the line.

Is this thinking off?

Following unexpected comeback, Eric Weddle helps power Rams' run to Super Bowl LVI

Following unexpected comeback, Eric Weddle helps power Rams' run to Super Bowl LVI

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Some may find it surreal that 37-year-old Rams defensive back Eric Weddle has been able to make the impact he's had over the last three weeks.

Not Weddle, though.

"As crazy as it sounds, mentally and emotionally I feel like I've been a part of the journey even though I haven't been on the team because I know what has happened," Weddle said during his Super Bowl LVI video conference Monday. "I know how the games have gone and the ups and downs, the good plays, the bad plays and so forth. So it's not really so surreal in this moment. There's a job to be done, and the job's not finished."

That kind of mindset offers insight into the way Weddle has helped spark the Rams' run to Super Bowl LVI following his unlikely comeback.

He started off playing 19 of 56 defensive snaps (34%) against the Cardinals in the Wild Card Round, then 61 of 72 (85%) against the Buccaneers in the Divisional Round. In the NFC Championship against the 49ers, he led the team with nine total tackles while playing all 51 snaps starting alongside Nick Scott at safety.

Weddle said he felt back up to speed after the first two plays he was on the field for against the Cardinals. He realized he was "going way too fast" at first, then eventually settled down and reassured himself that he could do this. After that, it was about how his body could transition and become strong enough to play more downs than what he originally started at.

"It's been a slow progression – a lot, a lot, a lot of work," Weddle said. "And I don't think people understand, nobody would understand, but I've never worked so hard in my life or last four weeks to get my mind, body ready for this, because I've been behind a ball for two years. So, it's been great. The plan put forth with (defensive coordinator) Raheem (Morris) and (head coach) Sean (McVay) and the training staff has worked out perfectly now able to be the best version of myself for the Super Bowl. And this was the best case scenario if we made it this far."

When Weddle spoke at his introductory press conference, he mentioned not missing a single call or check in his first practice. That familiarity was reflected in trust the Rams defensive coaching staff had with the amount of snaps he has played throughout the playoffs.

Rams defensive back Jalen Ramsey said he wasn't surprised that Weddle could still play at this level from a mental standpoint, but from a physical standpoint, he was, given Weddle had been away from the game for two years.

With both of those components aligned, Weddle's biggest impact has been his leadership "immediately," according to Ramsey.

"Still he commands a room," Ramsey said during his Super Bowl LVI video conference Monday. "His communication in the backend is like truly what you would want out of an elite safety. It's like he hasn't skipped a beat when it comes to communication and his mental focus and all of that. Being on one accord with everybody, getting guys lined up, all of that. So that's for sure been the biggest impact like on the field."

Rams offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth said Weddle's arrival "couldn't have been better timing and a better boost for us," not only re-energizing him but making and the rest of the leaders better ones because of his energy.

"Eric Weddle is one of those rare infectious energy guys who just, when he walks in a building, you hear his laugh, you hear his voice, you hear his energy," Whitworth said. "He's here, from 5 a.m. 'til midnight at night. I mean, this guy lives in the facility, and he might as well just put a bed in here, I guess. But he's one of those guys that honestly, his accountability in the way he can kind of push guys and ask more of guys and demand more and really hold that standard of excellence that he does, it couldn't have timed out better for us to get him when we did and have him in the building in this critical stretch when those kinds of things – your attitude, your commitment, your standard of what you do and how you do things – couldn't be more important during the playoffs. It's really the basis of everything in your identity. And to have him added and his energy and his level of really just leadership has been so special."

On the field, one of Weddle's most impactful plays came in the NFC Championship when he tackled 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell for a 1-yard loss. The Rams got the stop on third down, the 49ers then took a delay of game after trying to draw the Rams offsides on 4th down and were forced to punt. On the ensuing series, the Rams the game-tying scoring drive.

"That play on second-and-one, if you just watch the way that he was able to have the concept recognition, trigger in the backfield and get it for a minus-one, it was some great stuff," McVay said on Jan. 31. "He's been awesome. It's a great story. It is a great story. It's almost like some movie stuff that you would write, but he's really doing it in real life."

Weddle will return to his retired life after Super Bowl LVI, which includes planning to coach his son's 14U tackle football team after coaching his 12U tackle football team. But as he said earlier, there's still a job to finish.

"The focus and determination and sacrifices to get this dub on Sunday, and that's what it's been every week," Weddle said. "To do whatever I can to make sure I'm on point for the game and make sure my teammates are, and putting them in the best position possible to be successful. Outside of that, nothing else matters, and that includes everything up into this point. All that matters is playing great on Sunday and hoisting that trophy, and then we'll celebrate after that. But until that happens, the job's not finished."

This provided for shits & giggles to help get us thru the next 4 days.
OK, let me have it ... who am I forgetting or where did I F-up ?

Defensive Wildcard

There is a defensive player who should be ready to play in the Super Bowl and really could have an impact. IMO Rochell is a real wildcard. He would change the matchups. Rochell has the length and speed to match up with Tee Higgins. Robert is 6'2" and timed in the 4.3 range with a tremendous verticle, matched up with Tee Higgins at 6'4" who also runs a 4.3 leaving Ramsey on Chase. Higgins is a complete mismatch against Williams and David Long in terms of speed and length. He's also a player that could probably be overlooked in the Bengals defensive game planning. Rochell will have over a week to prepare and practice. The fact he's been left out of a lot of the player reports could be a ploy by McVay to spring him on the Bengals as a "game day decision".

How Morris plays the defense will be crucial in this game. He simply cannot sit back and play his bend and break style. Rochell could be a difference-maker particularly if his presence on the field allows Morris to leave Ramsey on Chase the entire game. If Morris doesn't leave Ramsey on Chase then Rochell offers a far better matchup, matching his speed, with an advantage in height and equal athleticism. There is no way I see Williams being able to cover Chase.

Coach McVay Flashbacks

Coach Mcvay introduced as Rams new Head Coach!
Not gonna lie. I knew nothing of this 30 year old and was devastated at the time. 5 years later and 2 Super Bowl appearances,
I love him!

IOL Question ...

Any of you guys familiar with James Daniels, the Chicago Bears interior lineman who is scheduled to be entering free agency following the end of the season ? He has several traits which are similar to Corbett, both being 2'nd round draft picks from the same 2018 class, although Daniels at 24 is two years younger than Corbs, and he's bigger at a reported 327lbs to Corbs' 306, both are 6'4". Like Corbett, Daniels has experience at both LG & RG, although where Corbett was just a thought at Center, Daniels has extensive playing time at the position.
On paper, the guy looks like someone who might be a great fit, although I haven't watched enough of the Bears to provide a proper analysis. Is he in your opinion a viable alternative to either Allen or Corbett ?

Leonard Floyd

I have been quietly thinking to myself the last week that this game can be dominated by Floyd who has been very quiet so far in the post season. Today I was watching an interview with Collinsworth and after mentioning the obvious duo of Donald and Miller, he brought up Floyd and I just smiled. I'm calling for a big game out of Floyd with a couple of sacks and hurries as they focus on the other two and of course Gaines getting after it as well.

Florida Rams fans???

I know that there a few Florida folks here @Selassie I for sure! But.... here in my area 1.5 hours south of Tampa I have yet to meet a one. So I got here Dec. 1, went to the DMV (Tax Collectors office here) and got some cool plates. At the time the clerk tried about 10 different Rams variation plates but all were taken. SO! A couple weeks later I got on the website and tried to get clever and find something Rams I could use. After about 30 variations I just happen to type in a very simple one... and I could not BELIEVE that it was actually available! I actually triple checked it and was still expecting the clerk to tell me when I went in that it was not available.... yet again it was. Plate arrived today, how could it be anymore perfect timing!!!!!!!

Mods... if this should go in a different forum please move it, I thought because it was Ram related it should go here! Thanks

So, the Rams Can’t Win….

I mean, that’s what I take from all of the coverage. 95% of the shows explain how the Bengals should play the Rams to beat them, followed by slobbering over Joe Burrows. Why are the imedia all over the Bengals nuts like a Tijuana hooker? The only thing I can think of, is that they really think the Rams will blow out the Bengals, but want to drive up the viewership with fake drama? I literally clicked on five segments from different shows and that was the formula of they followed….

Those cards fans were so cocky with their regular season win against us. How quickly shit can change. Good ol AZ sports.

Best Race Horse I Ever Saw

I saw the 1973 Kentucky Derby. Live, and I’m pretty sure I saw the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes, live as well. The greatest champion of a racing horse I ever saw was Secretariat. Below is a great color video of these three races and it gave me absolute chills. Do yourself a favor and watch what this horse did that year. Just amazing.

Stafford - MVP

so i'm sitting here thinking about the mvp voting, and as a rams fan, i have to admit, how can matthew stafford not be in the running for mvp?

yes aaron rodgers may have the better stats, but isn't mvp related to who is the most valuable player in the nfl related to the team/ league?

sorry ram fans, if you disagree, but MS is our most valuable player hands down, and kupp is the recipient of that, and a close second...

my take is, how can arron rodgers, or tom brady win the MVP when stafford took them or the teams that took them out, both down..

he's hitting 70% of his passes with 1 INT in the PLAYOFFS....

let's hope he gets it.. he deserves it...

go rams
