Last laugh

Andrew Whittworth earns the Walter Payton MOY award, Cooper Kupp earns OPOY and Kyler Murray gets voted to the pro bowl. Meanwhile, Stafford receives nothing. Without Stafford, Kupp may not have been as successful as he was this year (let alone the team success) and Stafford doesn’t even get voted to the pro bowl.

I hope Stafford (and the Rams) have the last laugh by hoisting the Lombardi and earning Superbowl LVI MVP. HORNS UP ! LETS GO RAMS!!

Eric Weddle - Green Dot

Well boys, it looks like Eric Weddle has earned the honor of wearing the coveted Green Dot.

This is such good news. It gives us some much-needed flexibility at the ILB position.

As much as I respect what Reader has done for us, he can't keep up with RB Mixon on passing downs. With Ernest Jones (relatively) healthy and the emergence of Travin Howard, we will have a lot more versatility at the position - just in time for a Bengals offense that is fast, fast, fast.

I have had a desire to see AD go all Fullback and rush for a TD in this Super Bowl! Robert Woods was saying, why not let Big Whit catch a TD pass on the goal line? If you wanna get more conventional, another OBJ to Cam Akers TD pass (this time). If a different guy, pick other and explain who!

D Line Nick Name?

Doesn’t feel like the front 3 along with OLBs deserve a nickname worthy of their greatness? It’s not that it’s needed, would be great for them to be remembered by.

The Freaking Five?

Sack Pack?

LA Menace?

Wondering if anyone has a catchy one for the group. The three I added are just blah.

Doubt Fearsome Foursome will ever be beat. Please throw out your great ideas.

Just bought a....

10 acre piece of farm land just outside Paso Robles, Ca.

I want to turn it into a homestead/small farm.

I however have done zero farming in my life.

There is no time frame as I do not live there now and plan to develop over a number of years.

Anyone with farming experience?

Where do I start??

Some thoughts before SB LVI (Bengals vs Rams)

1. The Rams are the favorites as they should be, but the Bengals have proven they belong in the bowl, and they believe they can win this game as much as the Rams players believe they will.

2. This postseason has proven that the favorites have been as beatable as the underdogs were.

3. Tons of talk about what QB (Stafford vs Burrow) the media and fans trust most.

4. There has been a big time narrative that the Rams defensive line has the obvious edge vs the Bengals offensive line. (This will be determined on SB game day) not by recent game, stats or trends.

5. The Rams on paper are the more talented team (starting 46 players) activated on game day.

6. McVay has the experience edge over his former colleague Zac Taylor, but experience is not the end all be all in the final NFL game.

7. Both the Rams and Bengals defenses are facing the most talented WR groups they've played all season.

8. The Special Teams groups for both of these teams are playing at a very high level. (Except the 2 missed field goals in the postseason by Matt Gay)

9. The stud running backs on each team appear to be Mixon vs Akers, but the Rams have more depth with Michel and Henderson if & when their numbers are called.

10. Both defensive coordinators (Bengals Lou Anarumo) & (Rams Raheem Morris) have been peaking leading up to the Super Bowl.

11. The Rams or Bengals won't be at full strength with their Tight End positions.

12. Cooper Kupp is the best WR in the NFL, but Jamar Chase is the most explosive. OBJ & Tee Higgins should be pick up the slack if they underperform.

13. The Rams offensive line has earned all of the accolades they've received in the postseason.

14. The Bengals secondary was top shelf in the postseason at the Titans and at the Chiefs.

15. In the second half of the playoffs, the QB's for both teams have been game winning assassins.

16. The inside LB's for both teams are streaky.

17. Rams punter Johnny Hekker appears to have stepped up his game in the postseason.

18. The Rams current safety duo of Nick Scott and Eric Weddle have been super during the postseason.

19. This young Bengals team are not a fluke, and they're peaking for all the right reasons.

20. Aaron Donald has taken his leadership level to another level. The man wants his first SB ring and he's been loud and clear about it.

21. If Cooper Kupp, Jamar Chase, OBJ & Tee Higgins are somehow kept in check, Van Jefferson and Tyler Boyd will be under the Hollywood lights to make big plays.

22. Interior defensive lineman to keep an eye on. Rams Greg Gaines & A'Shawn Robinson vs Bengals B.J Hill & D.J. Reader.

23. Slot corner backs to keep an eye on. Bengals Mike Hilton. Who is the Rams primary slot corner? David Long/Donte Deayon? Do they have one set in stone?

24. Does it really matter what team scores first? Both of these teams have proven they can win big games when they're trailing.

25. I'm leaving this up to you ROD Rams experts. There are probably 10 or more other things I've overlooked.

Here’s a trivia question for you: How many Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks have thrown a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl? The answer: zero.

This will be the Rams’ fifth trip to the Super Bowl, their third while calling Los Angeles home. In their previous two appearances as the LA Rams, Vince Ferragamo and Jared Goff both failed to throw a single touchdown pass. Kurt Warner, of course, led the Rams to the Super Bowl twice, but they were in St. Louis during those two years.

He threw one touchdown pass against the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVI, and in the Rams’ win over the Titans two years prior, he threw two touchdown passes. So as strange as it sounds, no quarterback from the Los Angeles Rams has ever thrown a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl. Matthew Stafford could change that on Sunday and become an obscure trivia answer for the rest of his life.

There has been a touchdown pass thrown by a member of the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl, though. He just wasn’t a quarterback. Lawrence McCutcheon threw a 24-yard touchdown pass in Super Bowl XIV 42 years ago in the Rams’ 31-19 loss to the Steelers. It actually put the Rams up 19-17 over the Steelers in the third quarter, but Pittsburgh scored 14 unanswered in the fourth quarter to win the game.

Fridays Practice

Really looking forward to the injury report after tomorrows practice on both sides. Obviously if Uzomah doesn't practice that bodes well.
Hoping to hear Henderson, Rapp and Day were full go's and most importantly hoping to hear Higbee was at least working on the side or limited giving him a shot.

Every time I watch the replay or highlights of our playoff games this year, Higbee catching those bootleg short passes or the ones downfield really stick out and pains me to think he won't play. To me he is more valuable to our offense then Uzomah is to theirs. Blanton played well, but nowhere near Tylers ability especially down field.

Henderson brings an interesting addition as he also plays well in our passing game.
Getting stoked by the minute.

Which team will stick with the run?

Here are some interesting stats:

During the regular season, the Rams and Bengals ran the ball (excluding QB runs) with similar frequency:

Rams: 388 running plays (22.8/game)
Bengals: 396 running plays (23.3/game)

In the playoffs, however, the Rams use of the running game has increased, while the Bengals have run the ball less:

Rams: 82 running plays (27.3/game)
Bengals: 61 running plays (20.3/game)

If this trend continues, I think that bodes well for the Rams. The Bengals have been susceptible to the run in the playoffs, as they have allowed 5.6/carry on handoffs to RBs. The Chiefs inexplicably did not continue to pound the ball when they had their lead, but the Rams are unlikely to repeat this mistake.

If the Rams find some early success running the ball, and continue to run (not exclusively, but strategically) if they build a lead, that's a great formula for success. Conversely, if the Bengals abandon the run, that will only make things more difficult for their OL against the Rams' pass rush.

Wasted talent and pick

GREG ROBINSON
T, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT

Free agent OT Greg Robinson was arrested Monday in Thibodaux, La. on nine felony drug charges.

Robinson, 29, was pulled over for a traffic violation around midnight, and a police dog alerted at the presence of narcotics. Officers discovered 38.89 pounds of marijuana, 3.16 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, 2.22 pounds of cocaine, 4 grams of crack cocaine, 227 doses of hydrocodone, 48 doses of oxycodone and 18 doses of alprazolam along with “a large assortment of drug trafficking and packaging equipment/paraphernalia, firearm magazines and ammunition and a small amount of U.S. currency.” It's Robinson's second drug-related arrest in the last two years after he fell out of the league following the 2019 season. Robinson remained in jail Wednesday on $315,000 bond. The former No. 2 overall pick of the Rams is one of the biggest draft busts in recent memory.

Something about Burrow

Reminds me of Joe Namath. He just doesn’t care how big the stage is. Rams need to keep this kid off balance. He can win this game with his throwing talent. I think he is the best pure passer in the league right now. Stafford has a few more weapons and negotiates the blitz better. Go Rams…do not let this kid find confidence early on.
