The Trade I have below shall be controversial. But, with a Superbowl win the Rams take one of the pieces and parlay it into 2 younger, less expensive players for the future.
OT Whitworth retires
Extend:
QB Matt Stafford
Restructure:
CB Jalen Ramsey
WR Cooper Kupp
Resign:
LB Travin Howard
LB Troy Reeder
OLB Von Miller
OT Joe Noteboom
C Brian Allen
WR Odell Beckham Jr
WR/RS Brandon Powell
K Matt Gay
QB John Wolford
Free Agency:
OG Mark Glowinski
With Austin Corbett signing elsewhere, Glowinski provides a replacement with slightly better run blocking skills than Pass Pro…. This should help in improving the Run game. His Cap hit will be between 6-8 Mil
CB Rasul Douglas
Rams get a boundary CB with size and length to pair with Ramsey. Cap hit should be in the 3-4 Mil range
Walker is very powerful Edge / DL player. He was used in multiple spots on Georgia’s D-line. He is what the Rams need in order match the physicality of the 49ers’. He can be used as the OLB in base defense and then moved inside on passing downs allowing Terrell Lewis and/or Chris Garret to rush from the OLB spot. He needs to improve his get-off at the snap. That may be why he hasn’t been considered a first round edge rusher up this point.
Jones comes from a small school but was invited to the Senior Bowl and showed that he belongs in the NFL. He is equally adept at Pass-Pro as he is a run blocker. I don’t recall him losing any reps during Senior Bowl practice. With Whitworth retiring and Noteboom projected to be the starting Left Tackle, Jones fills a void as the swing Tackle. And, with a season or two of development could take over as the starter at Left Tackle.
#104 (4th rnd) TE Austin Allen - Nebraska 6’8” 260 lbs
Allen is a fluid athlete for his size. In addition to his pass catching and run ability, he is adept at blocking and could contribute his rookie year ; he will not need a season to develop like other TE’s on the roster.
Williams is above average in man coverage. He is also an aggressive, sure tackler. Per one scout, “he has the foot quickness, speed, fluidity, and pattern matching skills to play man coverage in the slot”. Williams had 9 PD’s in 2021.
#154 (5th rnd) S Kerby Joseph – Illinois 6’0” 200 lbs
Joseph has good length and range for the position. Could be used in a single high if needed. He is also physical and has good ball skills. He had 5 INT’s and 2 PD’s in 2021. Rams trade up with Joseph still on the board in the 5th round.
Chandler has a burst as he hits the LOS or open hole that I haven’t seen in any other RB this season. He also is adept at catching the ball and is a competent pass blocker. He think he os good value to offer depth the RB room.
Jackson played a Slot/Safety hybrid position for the Vol’s and was highly productive in 2021 with 11 PD’s. He is also a physical, sure tackler. They called this their “Star” position which I guess would be similar to what Ramsey does for the Rams.
Projected starters:
11 personnel
QB Matt Stafford
RB Cam Akers
WR Cooper Kupp
WR Robert Woods
WR Odell Beckham Jr
TE Tyler Higbee
LOT Joe Noteboom
LG Mark Glowinski
C Brian Allen
RG David Edwards
ROT Rob Havenstein
12 personnel:
TE: Tyler Higbee, Austin Allen,
WR’s: Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods
Base Defense:
DE Ashawn Robinson, Aaron Donald
NT Greg Gaines
OLB’s Von Miller, Travon Walker
ILB’s Ernest Jones, Travin Howard
CB’s Jalen Ramsey, Rasul Douglas
Safeties Jordan Fuller, Taylor Rapp
Nickel package:

NT Greg Gaines
OLB’s Von Miller, Terrel Lewis or Chris Garrett
ILB Travin Howard
CB’s Jalen Ramsey, Rasul Douglas, Damarion Williams
Safeties Jordan Fuller, Terrell Burgess
K Matt Gay

RS Brandon Powel vs Britain Covey
We don’t talk much about the Eagles around here… but they are LOADED this off-season with 3 first round picks, 10 picks in total, and at least $14M in cap room (plus $30M more if they move stuff around).
They could make a splash in free agency.
At QB… what about Jalen Hurts. Is he the answer?
If not, this draft doesn’t appear loaded at QB.
Lots of fans want a trade for Russell Wilson. Eagles have 3 first rounders, Hurts, and maybe other players like Fletcher Cox to dangle for a QB trade.
What do you do if you are the Eagles? You have lots of ammo.
It is a VERY interesting off-season for Eagles fans!
DRAFT PICKS
15. Philadelphia Eagles (via 9-8 MIA)
The biggest question facing the Eagles is whether to use one of their three first-round picks to acquire a quarterback or roll with Jalen Hurts for another season and build up the talent around him. This is not considered a particularly strong quarterback class, but some notable veterans could be available by trade, including Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson. Expect Philadelphia to explore all options.
This pick was originally Miami's, but it went to the Eagles in last year's deal that included the 49ers. -- Tim McManus
16. Philadelphia Eagles (via 9-8 IND)
This pick comes to the Eagles as a result of their trade with the Colts for quarterback Carson Wentz. Wentz had to play at least 75% of the snaps for the pick to become a first-rounder. Philadelphia also received a third-round pick in the 2021 draft, which it used to trade up two spots with Dallas in Round 1 to take wide receiver DeVonta Smith. -- ESPN staff
19. Philadelphia Eagles (9-8)
The Eagles finished with six wins in their final eight games, pushing them into a wild-card spot in the playoffs. They were blown out by the Bucs, however. Through Week 7 of the season, this pick was projected to land at No. 10 by the FPI. -- ESPN staff
Jalen Hurts might be the Eagles’ most likely 2022 starting quarterback, but he also might be a valuable chip in a larger design for the front office. By Adam Hermann
The Eagles had to shuffle some things around to get under the 2021 salary cap, but 2022 has the potential to be a monster offseason for GM, Howie Roseman. On Monday, Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport confirmed that the salary cap will rise to $208 million…
Not sure if this was already posted, but this is the best vid I've seen from the super bowl yet. Great footage and access to the sidelines and post game interviews while watching the replays.
Hearing lots of chatter about Trey Lance not being ready. Montana came out publicly and talked about how he's heard Lance isn't ready. Wiley and Acho talk about it in the clip below. Probably too late for Jimmy G to come back to the team. And it makes me very nervous, because I fear it will ratchet up talk of Brady going there to save them and the Niners will make a very strong, compelling pitch to him.
Do this with your significant other.......Guys, how often when your girl or your guy asks, "Do you wanna hear a funny story?" that it's actually funny?
I think Peterson has reached the point in his career (much as guys like Rod Woodson and Aeneas Williams did), where he could be ready to transition from CB to FS. He also is a guy who would likely gravitate toward a contender.
Last year, he played on a 1 year, $8M deal. We could probably pay something comparable (and, perhaps, save some $ by parting ways with Taylor Rapp, who would become expendable).
Just watched a clip on Get Up where they are discussing where Wussel Wilson will end up. Mike Tannenbaum says you don't go cheap when trying to get a QB that will help you contend immediately. Says Pittsburgh should throw in that extra 1 and even another 2 to get him because it makes them contenders in Minka and Watts prime. Sound familiar?
That's that east coast bias, Pittsburgh love there. The Rams were all but eviscerated for doing this same thing last year. BS media be like "Oh shit it worked??? Well, of course it did!!! We knew it the whole time!“
Copy cat league gonna copy cat.... At least that is my guess.... And the talking heads will heap praise on all who do for being" aggressive" instead of "all in". Why do I even watch this shit?
Sally Kellerman, the husky-voiced actress known for her Oscar-nominated portrayal of U.S. Army Maj. Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan in Robert Altman’s M*A*S*H, has died. She was 84. Kellerman, who also sang and had a Grand Funk Railroad tune written for her, died Thursday morning at an assisted...
The Rams have called Los Angeles home since moving from St. Louis in 2016, but they haven’t had a permanent home for their practice facility and headquarters in the last six years. They’ve been set up at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks and have gone down to UC Irvine for training camp, but the team is moving closer to having their own facility.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the Rams are in negotiations with Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield to buy the site of the Woodland Hills Promenade. The Rams would build a practice facility and team headquarters on the 34-acre site, which is large enough to host training camp with fans, the Times reports.
According to the report, the Rams could pay more than $150 million for the site.
The Chargers have already announced their plans to build a facility of their own in El Segundo, a 14-acre property that will also be the team’s headquarters. That project is expected to be completed in 2024.
An interesting break down of McVay's gameplan/play calling in the big game. Personally, I think that Sean deserves some major slack, being that he lost OBJ and was down to Hopkins at TE in the second half, but I think this is an interesting vid all the same.
1. Von Miller
The trade for Miller has already paid off, but who doesn't want to see a full season of Miller, Donald and Floyd?
2. Joe Noteboom
If Big Whit rides off into the sunset, Noteboom is the most logical choice to fill his role. The Rams have been grooming him, and he's played well when he's had the opportunity.
3. Brian Allen
I think it could be difficult to retain Noteboom, Allen and Austin Corbett. Corbett is the easiest to replace, in my opinion, so I give the edge to Allen.
4. Odell Beckham, Jr.
The Rams will start the season with a great trio of Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Van Jefferson. Things happen, though, and come the stretch run, how great would it be to get OBJ back? I'm hoping for a 2-3 deal (incentive based early, team options in 2023-24).
5. Austin Corbett
Though the lowest priority of the three UFA OL, I'd still bring him back at the right price.
6. Darious Williams
The Rams need to evaluate why DWill's play dropped last year. Was it the scheme, health, effort, something else? I suspect some other team will outbid for DWill's services, but if he could be retained for a fair price (maybe something in the $7-8M range), I'd consider retaining him.
7. Donte Deayon
Here's a guy who provides good depth and should be affordable.
8. Ogbonnia Okoronkwo
Another potentially affordable piece who has shown flashes as a pass rusher.
9. Sebastian Joseph-Day
With A'Shawn Robinson and Gregg Gaines playing very good football in the second half of the year and the playoffs, SJD is the odd man out. Bobby Brown could be poised to take his snaps next year. Probably a guy who's best option is elsewhere.
10. Sony Michel
A great rental, but not worth more than a veteran minimum contract with Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson returning.
Report: Troy Aikman on verge of leaving Fox for ESPN's 'Monday Night Football'
A seismic shift may be going down in the world of NFL broadcasting.
Troy Aikman, currently the top NFL color commentator for Fox Sports, is deep in negotiations to leave the network to become the lead analyst for ESPN's "Monday Night Football," according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.
The deal will be reportedly be for five years, with a salary in the neighborhood of Tony Romo's $17.5 million per year contract with CBS. It's a good time to be a former Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback.
Aikman was also reportedly courted by Amazon, which is about to become the sole broadcaster, or streamer, of "Thursday Night Football." Amazon remains in negotiations for another broadcasting free agent, Al Michaels of NBC Sports. Per Marchand, ESPN could pursue Michaels as well.
The potential move would end a two-decade tenure at Fox for Aikman, who has been calling games with Joe Buck since 2002. It might not be the end for Aikman's partnership with Buck, though, as the well-known play-by-play man has his contract up next year.
Who could replace Troy Aikman at Fox?
Fox does not seem to lack for candidates to replace Aikman. Per Marchand, the network will consider its No. 2 analyst, former Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Oldsen, and former New Orleans Saints Asshole Face. It could also reportedly trade for Drew Brees, who currently works for NBC as a studio analyst.
There is also the possibility of Tom Brady, who probably has better things to do in his first year of retirement. Marchand even mentions the possibility of Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay for both Fox and Amazon, though that would require a shocking retirement at this point.
ESPN makes a splash hire for 'Monday Night Football'
The awkward part of ESPN poaching Aikman would be the fact that they already have a pair of "Monday Night Football" color commentators, though neither have the name recognition of Aikman and some other names ESPN has pursued.
Last season, Brian Griese and Louis Riddick were the latest occupants of a MNF broadcasting booth that has been something of a revolving door since the departure of Mike Tirico in 2016 and Jon Gruden in 2018. For the play-by-play role, ESPN has turned to Sean McDonough, Joe Tessitore and, most recently, Steve Levy, with varying results.
The color position has been even more chaotic. ESPN first brought on Jason Witten, who drew poor reviews and abruptly ended his retirement to re-sign with the Cowboys, then tried Booger McFarland as its sole color commentator, to even poorer reviews. At seemingly every juncture, the network went after Peyton Manning, but was rebuffed up until the Hall of Fame quarterback got his own broadcast with his brother Eli. The resulting Manningcast was unquestionably a win for ESPN, but left ESPN with a broadcast booth low on name recognition, but with decent reviews.
Now, ESPN may not be getting Manning in its biggest color commentary role, but it's reportedly on the verge of finally making that splash hire the network has been keen on for years.
Side note yes we all know there are people bitter at Kurt because he's bitter still at the Rams for shitting on him. We get it thank you for reminding us you're all bitter
