Rams 2001 Offensive Playbook

Considering the versatility of both Austin and Gurley, it would be interesting to see what ol' Mad Mike Martz could cook up for those guys.

It boggles the mind to think of what he could cook up for Tavon. With the GSOT, he had a guy in Az Hakim he did a lot with. Az was a great athlete too ... and yet, Austin is (despite his short stature) head and shoulders about Hakim in the athleticism department - not to mention more versatile.

I'll just say this ... nobody ... NOBODY would question the value of Tavon's contract in a Mike Martz coordinated offense. At his current rate, people would be saying he's a bargain.

Rams’ Kenny Britt having career year after QB carousel

It also screams, "Never plays with a legit QB"
His catch to target rate is typically in the 60% category, which is darned good

That's what the guys who offer contracts need to figure out.

I just know we have a track record of paying guys based on projections... which regardless of this season is exactly what it will take signing Britt.

The Rams are going to ruin Todd Gurley

I have to say that the most disappointing thing about this years rams is the O line. And the struggles with running the ball clearly shows how much they have regressed.
Goff might help loosen up the run game somewhat, but until they develop good players and coaching of the line they will continue to suck. A great running back might be productive in spite of a poor line but he will never have a great year without blocking.

Wife says man blamed Stan Kroenke in suicide note

So a guy who's reputation is to develop land pays millions of dollars to "restore it to it's glory"?

Please tell me that sounds at least a little fishy (pun intended).
Actually we have his actions with his two other ranch purchases, including the 500K+ acre ranch in Montana. He didn't redevelop these area's. He's left the ranching and farming businesses in tact and kept the rest in it's natural state that he purchased it as. I get the hate for the man but assigning him more evils before he's actually done them is just petty especially when we've seen like situations where he hasn't acted that way.

Goff a long way from playing

I think I'll wait a few more games before I throw in the towel, Macky Mack.

I didn't mean it like that...LOL.

What I meant was now that the preseason hype/euphoria bubble has burst and the reality of the season, reality of Fisher, his way, his coaching choices, etc have sunk in, we can move past the "kool aid" stage.

I mean we can still be as optimistic as we like about Goff, but I think it requires willfulness to ignore some of the issues holding this team back (Goff is none of them).

According to Jason Stewart Jeff Fisher is on the hot seat

Fisher is set up. He'll leave the Rams in two years, having done what Kroenke hired him to do, oversee the move from St. Louis and upgrade the roster. After the Rams move into their new digs in Inglewood, I expect Kroenke to bring in a more offensive minded HC to take the Rams the next step and Fisher will move on and become the HC of USC, were he went to college and his buddy, Lynn Swan, runs the football program.

Nelson spruce left practice with a walking boot

I'm sick of hearing about this kid. If one solid pre-season game gets you excited refer back to the thousands of other duds who once had a great pre-season game only to never excel in the NFL.

Rams have 3 legit WRs, a wait and see with Cooper, a waste of space Marquez and a waiting for a miracle Mike Thomas. Along with pass catching TEs Kendricks and hopefully one day Higbee(doubt it)

So I guess the only thing Spruce would add is not much needed depth which isn't a factor whether or not this team has a winning season. There's lots of Spruces out there in rookie FA land.

It's all about the hands and crisp routes. I clearly remember what Amendola was for Sam on third downs. We all have seen what Weller did in the league. I want that type of dependable third down option on the Rams. Spruce looks like he could be that type of WR....but not if he can't stay healthy.

Time to sell high on Quick

I mean, all you people who what to give up on Quick for say, a 6th rounder are dumb as rocks.
The Rams have a poor QB and terrible offensive coaching. Who has this group ever developed ? Even Fisher ?
The team is not disciplined on the field and it shows.
I am worried about Goff having to be coached by these knobs. What is their track record on developing offensive talent ?
They can not even get the extremely talented Gurly going.
I for one do not think the group of Britt, Quick, Tavon, Kendricks, Gurly is not near as bad as some think. Why cant our coaches find ways to get the 6'3" tandem, fast, agile to play like it. Why cant they find ways to get the ball to Tavon without everyone one defense knowing what is about to happen ? They are all over him. These coaches suck.
I am sick of seeing Gurly get the ball out of the shotgun where he can not get any head of steam going. I want to see a "I" formation, 7 years deep with a real fullback. Like Dickerson did. Or at least like Faulk did with the "T" formation and a fullback. Why dont the run behind GRob and Saffold more.
This is how dumb our offensive coaches are. That play at the end of the half vs Detroit was the worst. It was Dick Vermiel, Marty Shottenhimer dumb. DV never won a thing without Martz. In 98 he called all the plays and it was horrible. I knew as a fan what was comming 60% or better. What do you think the DCs knew.
All of this "JUMBO" package. All your big guys, bunched up, no WRs, nothing spread out, no attempt to fool anyone, make them think, defend the outside spaces.
Martz did not do that stuff. He gave Marshal room to work. He had 2-3 WRs on goal line plays. Spread it out. Made them defend open space. Falk got the ball on the left side, a little cut to the right and cut back left right behind Pace. TOUCHDOWN. How many times did we see that ?? I am telling you all, this thing about giving the ball to RBs out of the shotgun is idiotic.
You can not go Martyball. Why do think he never won anything. "Everyone in the stadium knows what we are going to do and we are going to shove it down their throat" (Martyball) DV only won with Martz and only had success in KC because he took his system to KC. Even Bill BeliCHEAT trys to make opposing DCs think.
You "might" be able to get away with goal line bunched up JUMBO package bullchit if you have a dominate O line like the Rams did in the 70s and 80s. But we do not. (thats a whole other rant, think about our defense with K Mack instead of Grob at LT. A ton of guys can play as bad a GRob does for us)
Come on folks, Who has Fisher ever developed on O. What is the pedigree of our OC and QB coach ? They are merely Fisher "yes" men. Fisher lackeys. If real big time NFL coaches had our guys we would have at least 2 more wins and be in the thick of it.
Do you want Goff and Gurly developed by Fisher and his knownothings ?

Hahhaha dude laying waste
Easy now

QUICK! To answer your question - Brian Quick has developed under Fisher snd Co., thus the speculation as to whether or not to trade him while he's on the up and up. Lots of players have developed under Fisher which i don't hear you complaining about like Aaron Donald and Janoris Jenkins and Tru, McLeod, and the like -

And they have given a lot of attention to the offensive side of the ball, and we've had some success with Gurley, Havenstein, Austin, and we continue to draft offense - man the list goes on and on / we have an entire new offense with lots of young players

And I think our air attack has made strides under Groh

* And Goff is being developed by Fisher and Co right now so I dont get your final question

Anyways
