Rams TE without Kendricks

He's raw as a receiver, but he'll be able to contribute as a rookie as a blocker. He absolutely buries defenders in the run game and can pass block. Plus, with his athleticism, you still have to account for him in the passing game.

We definitely need an excellent blocking TE. Hell!, With Todd or Tavon on the field, everyone! needs to block as either can take the rock to the house from anywhere on the field.

1 YR-3M for L.Dunbar?

If used correctly, Dunbar is pretty good. He's more of a receiver out of the backfield type. He's more dangerous in space as opposed to handoffs under center. Garrett's dumbass would put him in on 3rd downs when we have Elliott. Smh
Cool. Was hoping to get your take on him rynie. I was thinking of T. Austin when I made that #Yikes comment, sounds like Dunbar could take touches away from him out of the backfield, there both the same size just about.

Tight Ends

Well, @jrry32 mentioned him first in a previous mock draft of his, but I'm starting to love Jonnu Smith. Not a fan of Hodges or Leggett at all. I looked at Leggett last year, and the term "Lazy Leggett" stuck.

Howard and Njoku will go first round easily, so we can forget about them.
I saw Hodges a lot this season and I really like his size and athleticism but he does have questionable hands. I'd only want him late in the draft but he'll probably be gone by the late 3rd.

Nick Foles signed by the Eagles

Some may call it a financial apology.

Two years after the Eagles abruptly dumped Nick Foles onto the Rams, and despite a couple of rough seasons in St. Louis and Kansas City, the Eagles have given Foles a solid contract to return as the backup to Carson Wentz.

Per a source with knowledge of the contract, it’s a two-year, $11 million deal, with $7 million guaranteed within five days of signing. The payments come in the form of a $3 million signing bonus, a $1 million fully-guaranteed base salary in 2017, a $3 million roster bonus that becomes fully guaranteed five days after the contract is signed.

The roster bonus makes it more likely that the Eagles will keep Foles in 2018, at a base salary of $4 million. (Then again, they didn’t keep Chase Daniel for the second year of his contract, despite $5 million in guaranteed base salary for 2017.)

The contract also has incentives of up to $2.5 million for 2017 and 2018 based on a variety of factors and a 2018 escalator of up to $6 million based on a various factors.

The deal includes three phony years on the back end, a cap management tool aimed at keeping the number as low as possible in 2017.

Our new massive series here at Downtown Rams will give you players that catch our eye. We will bring you bring you draft prospects, see where their fit is with the Rams and of course give you a player comparison.
Who is the 5-foot-11, 203 pound WR Taywan Taylor?
Taywan Taylor is this year's wide receiver prospect that should be a household name but yet no one has a clue who he is. Taylor has one of the highest floors in this draft for the receiver position and flashes brilliant route running, head fakes and field stretching ability. Taylor should, and probably will be a day two draft pick in April.

Strengths
Great route runner
Solid hands
Good speed, but mainly quicker than fast
Ball tracking ability
Sharp head fake and one foot breaking ability that break defenders ankles
Strong and able to break tackles if need be
Ability to sacrifice his body by laying out and making the tough catch
Has awareness of the sideline in mind
Produced at a high level in college

Weaknesses
Lack of route combinations
Very bubble screen and end around heavy playcalling
Doesn't have the long speed to run away from defenders
Tends to let ball into his body at times

How does he fit with the Rams?
Taylor fits Sean McVay's system in Los Angeles. Yes, he isn't a big bodied WR and McVay did mention he likes to have different types of WR's in the building. However, McVay also mentioned he wants receivers to be able to run clean routes and that is one thing Taylor can do. At Western Kentucky Taylor just wasn't given the ability to show the different bunches of routes he can and will have to run at the next level. With the recent free agent acquisition of Robert Woods there is still a starting spot across from him but the key with McVay is that he wants to have his parts on offense interchangeable. Woods has shown the ability to play inside or out and the same can be said for Tavon Austin, Pharoh Cooper and Taywan Taylor.

Draft Grade:

Sterling Shepard

Sterling Shepard was a second round pick I fell in love with towards the end of the draft process...Sounds like how I feel about Taywan Taylor. Regardless of that both ran similar 40 times, both had the same type of body and both run smooth routes. I labeled Shepard as the safest WR last year and I wouldn't necessarily do the same with Taylor because Chris Godwin exists but he would probably be the second to me. Taylor and Shepard can both play inside or out and break defenders ankles. Shepard may have a little more of the contested catch ability than Taylor but I could see Taylor developing that later on in his career. For now I think Taylor compares well to Shepard. I'm sure Taylor wouldn't mind hearing comparisons to Shepard and he especially wouldn't mind having the type of rookie year Shepard just had.

Marshawn Lynch to the Raiders?

“Very good chance” Marshawn Lynch unretires
Posted by Mike Florio on March 17, 2017

The Raiders want Marshawn Lynch to play football for them. So does Marshawn Lynch want to play football?

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, there is a “very good chance” that Lynch will end his one-year retirement.

If Lynch returns, the Seahawks will have to decide whether to keep him, to cut him, or to trade him. He’d instantly account for $9 million on the Seattle books, and he’d remain there until they cut him or trade him.

Lynch, who turns 31 next month, has 9,112 career rushing yards in nine seasons. Another 1,000-yard season would vault him into the top 20 — and a return to the league (specifically via a deal with the Raiders) would instantly make his jersey the most popular in the league.

It’s about that time. It’s time to do another check-in with the online mock drafts to see which players the national media thinks the Rams have a chance at landing in late April’s NFL Draft.

The NFL Combine has come and gone and in the process given us insight into the skills and measurables of the top prospects. We’re also a week into the free agency period and the Rams have been active, addressing needs and adding depth. Taking all of that into account we now have a better sense of who the Rams might be targeting, or at the very least, which positions they may be honing in on when it comes to using their eight selections in the upcoming draft.

Our latest roundup once again features who the experts have the Rams taking with the 37th overall pick — their first selection in the draft — as well as some deeper dives into what the Rams might be thinking in the later rounds.

USA Today: Bryan Kalbrosky, Rams Wire (2/24)

  • WR John Ross, Washington

“Ross had the most touchdowns (17) out of any Power-5 conference receiver last season. He also had 81 receptions for 1,150 yards — or 14.2 yards per catch.

The Washington star is 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds with a projected 40-yard dash time of 4.25 seconds and a vertical jump of 38 inches. His three-cone drill was 6.71 seconds.

Despite his small size, he compares more to top wideouts like Odell Beckham, Jr., Antonio Brown and T.Y. Hilton than a typical slot receiver.”

  • 69. Adoree’ Jackson, CB, USC
  • 110. Julie’n Davenport, OT, Bucknell
  • 139. Gerald Everett, TE, South Alabama
  • 150. Trey Hendrickson, EDGE, Florida Atlantic
  • 190. Kyle Kalis, OG, Michigan
  • 220. Corey Clement, RB, Wisconsin
  • 226. Hardy Nickerson, Jr., LB, Illinois

The late Dennis Hopper would have appreciated that last selection.

SB Nation: Eric Nagel, Turf Show Times (3/12)

  • TE Evan Engram, Mississippi

“What Engram brings to the table is elite speed in a big frame. He ran a 4.42 at the combine, which isn’t easy to do when you’re 6’3” and 234 lbs. Engram’s also an accomplished route runner and he can cause fits for anyone who is assigned to him. The most impressive thing about Engram I see is that he’s remarkably elusive and shifty for such a big receiver.”

  • 69. C Pat Elflein, Ohio State
  • 110. WR JuJu Smith Schuster, USC
  • 139. LB Ben Gedeon, Michigan

  • G Dan Feeney, Indiana

“The Rams need to add lots of talent to help develop Jared Goff, which seems like a problem because they don't have a first-round pick. They could address every position outside of running back, and I don't think the Rams need any neighborly advice telling them that they need to bolster the interior of their offensive line. “
