Rams Risers and Fallers: Raiders game

That Amari Cooper catch just shows how special he really is:bow:.

If Marqui can learn to wrap up :whistle:we might have found a keeper @ reserve Strong Safety!

IMO.....NRC should Not be utilized as the Nickel but remain as our top reserve @ the two outside CB posts.I would strongly suggest that consideration be given to Blake Countess earning the Nickel position & John Johnson gets a strong look @ the back up Nickel assignment in 2017. Thus leaving Wade to settle on Mo's & Joyner's main 3rd safety back up between Marqui Christian/ Cody Davis/ Isaiah Johnson.

Note: There's always Mark Barron's availability to plug in @ Strong Safety in an emergency. From what I saw from both Josh Forrest & Cory Littleton who was playing for Barron....not a problem there.

MC over Mo or Davies is not happening, but I'll reserve that right tonight for a lot better answer.

That catch was a nice play. There is a lot of Comp , & yes players wanting to make the squad have to really step up.

Rams learn that with defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, there’s substance behind the hype

An old favorite movie had a line, "just the facts...." LOL

They were moving the ball at will....int notwithstanding....and it was a little disconcerting...given all the praise heaped on Son of bum in this article. If our backups can't play....put in some others. And I'm not just talking about the replaced players like Littleton & LTP....but Joyner....geez he only had 4 plays....and did....nothing....and Mo. Westbrooks didn't look too good either...Tree, meh...Brockers...meh.

NEVER use Orbitz, ever.

That's my weekend brew, but when I have to take care of my daughter and get ready for work, drip is just easier. I definitely enjoy the flavor that much more from a proper french press.
We stopped buying the drip units a few years ago since no matter the brand the reliability was crap. Bought a large french press (4 cups) and never looked back.

I hear you about getting a child ready in the morning.........the memories. There were phases of course but the one I remember most was the "I can't find my shoes." phase. That was both of my kids. Usually found the shoes within the house but there was the time with 4 inches of snow on the ground and gym class early in the class day that I roamed the yard looking for the white sneaker......which was found......and was worn to school thawed but wet.:yess:

Another Uniform Thread - What's Up, Buttercup?

I excerpted this from a 9/14/94 Los Angeles Times article. It's a fun explanation of why the Rams switched to blue and white uniforms.
_____________________________________________________________________________________

Who else in the NFL had the audacity to wear yellow jerseys on Sunday? The Rams of 1951 may have looked like banana splits, but with Waterfield and Norm Van Brocklin cranking up 54-14 and 48-21 victories, no one seemed to laugh much.

"I love 'em," says Mickey Dukich, the Rams' director of video operation for the past 39 years. "It was sad to give them up. They were unique, distinctive. Very clean-looking."

The Rams gave them up in 1957 because television, in an ominous sign of things to come, ordered them to.

"The games were broadcast in black and white then," Dukich says, "and the gold came out as gray on TV sets. It conflicted with white jerseys and light blue jerseys, like the ones the Detroit Lions wore. Television wanted more of a contrast."

The Rams switched to blue and white, but "not without a struggle," according to Dukich. "Dan Reeves, who owned the Rams then, told our equipment manager, Bill Granholm, to try to find a gold or a yellow that came across as white, or near it, when it was photographed in black and white.

"Bill went through a lot of different shades, but none of them worked until he found a light-colored yellow with blue on it. We went to the Coliseum one afternoon, he'd model it on the field and I'd shoot it from the top of the stadium. Sure enough, it came out white on the film. We were told we'd be able to use it.

"But then Dan Reeves asked Bill the name of the color. 'Buttercup yellow,' Bill told him.

"That did it. Mr. Reeves said, 'No way, I'm not going to let the reporters know my team plays in buttercup yellow.' It was back to blue and white after that."

The Rams remained in blue and white throughout the '60s and into the '70s, until Carroll Rosenbloom bought the team in 1973.
This was a Fun read. I had never read it before and had never heard the story before! " Butter-Cup Yellow"!!:ROFLMAO:

Yahoo Fantasy Keeper League ($40 buy in cash league)

Put this in General Sports and here now if anyone is interested:
Im in a 10 team Keeper League in Yahoo (Standard Scoring) and trying to recruit 1 new owner to take over the last team. Im co-commisioner in this league and its only our 2nd year so were kind of a new evolving league. Its a $40 buy in (1st 2nd 3rd paid) and we need to all be paid before the draft this Saturday August 26th at 4:30pm PT/7:30pm ET! We had one guy completely disappear from communication leaving the other 9 teams hanging. Here is the roster you get to choose 7 keepers from (standard scoring). Its a very good roster and you get the 2nd pick of the draft tomorrow. We added trading of draft picks also. Were trying to get this league filled and get the owners paid today. PM your email if you want the team and ill transfer the team to you through yahoo fantasy football. Cheers

Thoughts On Coming Roster Cuts

Safeties/Nickle: I placed the Nickle cb position in here with the safeties. Wade thus far this pre season has used his FS's (Countess/Joyner/John Johnson/Cody Davis) as has 5th DB Nickel. No need for any WWC Nickel-Back. SS Mo Alexander has not looked sharp in pre season. The reserve SS's are all UDFA's with Marqui Christian as the most seen & active. We could see rookie Johnson get more action here the next 2 gms.The FS cadre is far more talented & fat. I see no need for the Rams to scrape the WWC release pot to add a player here.

Outside CB: This is another unit that has seen players coming & going is @ outside corners. This outside corner unit would be my first selection as an area that we can see the Rams looking for a WWC. @ the moment this cadre has a core 4 player unit Johnson/Webster/NRC/Jordan.

Strangely enough even though I look at the CB depth chart and it concerns me a little bit (still) in actual game action the CB position has outperformed the safeties. Not going to nuke preseason game film or anything but there have been a bunch of instances where guys seemed to be late and/or otherwise looked slow in reacting to the play in the deep middle.

So if I had to guess which positions the Rams internally are concerned with on defense my guess is safety is way up there (guy who can play the deep middle with some instincts). And yes that means we should see more of Johnson in the next two games as they prepare for the cut downs and try to solidify where they're looking for help. On offense of course my guess is OL. But just like you see with the draft, the cut downs will also be about which guys they like and whether they think they might upgrade the roster, so we could see a surprise or two in who they go after.
