explanation please

Did a ref overrule another ref? Or just make a different call? It was confusing and sketchy as it happened.

The zebra closest to it signaled TD.

The Rams got a TD anyway, but man the refs need more accountability.

I wish Goodell would have had the stones to stand up to the refs union.

He freaked that up royally.

IMO it's the worst thing he has done and nothing else is in the conversation. That was the worst.

Ok - yes the Eef did over rule the other Ref.

Last night Russell Wilson scored a nice TD. Carrol had to challenge it.On a play like that it is better to call the TD because it is challengeable.
On a goal line TD maybe not, but the Ref can come down the line & see where the ball is ? Still tough calls.

The Rams TD with Woods should have been over turned. The challenge lost so I don't know how that was a rookie coaching mistake.
The first challenge with McVay was though. The spot of the football was wrong.I don't understand why he would lose a challenge though. He did question the play.

Three & Out: Takeaways from Rams’ 35–30 Victory Over Cowboys

den,
do we know this? If so how? I had been under the suspicion that Fish preferred Wentz simply because of the McNair comparisons but you are saying he didn't want any QB and wanted to use the picks elsewhere.
Thanks in advance for your response.

~ArkyRamsFan~
The only thing that I read was Fisher wanted to keep the picks once the Rams made the move the choice was Goff or Wentz & Fisher liked Goff because of red zone efficiency

Wood's catch/non catch

It never ceases to amaze me how incompetent the refs are in the NFL. To review it and still not get it right, what a joke.

100% correct.

When you have fans of every single team complaining essentially every single week then it's pretty obvious there is a problem. Of course every fan is biased, but the NFL seems to be issuing a lot of apologies the last several years. And will all the camera angles the film tells the story.

This instance perfectly illustrates something that needs to be addressed. But this is just my opinion. Not wanting to make a peer look bad seems to be on refs minds. The fact that this particular play wasn't overturned is as close to proof as you can ask for. One ref calls TD, the other ref is allowed to over rule it, there is a challenge that clearly shows it was a catch yet it stands as an incomplete.

That only happens if you don't want to look like buffoons and are covering your peers butt so he will cover yours when you fuck up.

It's got to change eventually.

Air Gurley

It has been said a lot before but you really don't understand how big Todd is until you see him in person. I met him while at Georgia and he is massive. He looks a lot bigger than 6'1" 227.
so true....

So many of these players are really larger than life....Like their 6'2 is much bigger than the normal 6'2....probably because of the muscle.....Tru looks huge...Ogletree...they look bigger in person...which seems strange because the tv is supposed to add 10 lbs???

Peter King: MMQB - 10/2/17 - The Rams Are The Story Of The Year

Jimmy Graham isent the same player in Seattle because he is being asked to block more than anytime in his career. Seattle's Ts often need help. He has been reduced in the passing game because their line is not very good.
Finally, a Peter King article I enjoyed. In fact, I would say....
No....nope, can't do it.
F Peter King.
King was the pundit who proclaimed that this year would be about seeing whether Goff could really be our quarterback. Guess that train left the station...

Sean McVay was a grand slam hire for the Los Angeles Rams

Over the years, we could count on a few things in the NFL.

Aaron Rodgers would make incredible plays (still going), the Cleveland Browns would be terrible (check), the New England Patriots would be dominant (well, about that … ) and the St. Louis or Los Angeles Rams would have an awful offense.

Don’t look now, but a coaching change has delivered the Rams one of the NFL’s best offenses. Seriously.

The Rams, who scored more than 40 points in each of their first two wins, put up only 35 against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. That was enough as the Rams went into Dallas and pulled off a very nice 35-30 upset. With that, the Rams improved to 3-1 and maintained first place in the NFC West.

Seriously.

The 2017 Rams, at least to this point, are the best example of how much coaching matters in the NFL since Andy Reid took over the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013 and took a 2-14 team and made them an 11-5 playoff team. Everyone knew McVay, the youngest coach in modern NFL history, couldn’t be worse than Jeff Fisher. But nobody figured on him being this much of an upgrade.

Jared Goff looks like a franchise quarterback after a lost rookie season. That’s coaching. Goff had 255 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday. Todd Gurley II, who had 215 total yards Sunday, has resurrected his career after an alarmingly bad sophomore season. Again, coaching. If you strip away the names and recent history and look just at what we’ve seen through four weeks, the Rams are the best team in the NFC West.

The Rams took a chance on McVay. He had respect for his football acumen as the offensive coordinator of the Washington Redskins, but it was a little risky to hire a 31-year-old head coach. It looks like a genius move now. The Rams have a fantastic head coach, based on everything we’ve seen so far, and he’s only 31. He has plenty of time and energy to keep improving.

The last time the Rams finished in the top 20 in points or yards was 2006. That’s not a misprint. The Rams fielding a boring, uncreative, terrible offense has been an NFL tradition for almost a decade. McVay put an end to that in a hurry

Anthony Brown: "The Cowboys Beat The Cowboys Today"

So Anthony Brown is saying they made too many mistakes and basically gave us the win. Well then, my response to Anthony is: "Thank you Anthony and the rest of the Cowgirls for allowing us to win today. I will sleep better knowing you gave us the win, and really didn't prepare properly for the game, with it being a short week and all. You sir, are a scholar (lightly used term here) and a gentleman. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Oh, and one last thing... go pound sand you idiot. Suck on the loss for a bit"

Rams take full advantage of Todd Gurley in impressive win over Dallas Cowboys

Show me a writer who thought differently? In fact, Fox yesterday everyone had Dallas over Los Angeles as their lock, so again I could care less about the pundits, they are always the last one's to arrive at the party.
The Fox network wasn't the only one! Everyone at NFLN, except for Marshall Faulk, felt the same way! And that includes Kurt Warner, X Ariz. Cards QB!!
I don't know how the Picks at ESPN and CBS went! But I would bet the same as at FOX and NFLN!

Did the Texans really put up 57?????

Deshaun had 5 TDs. 35 points. Will Fuller is back, so that helped Deandre Hopkins.

One defense TD (pick 6 from Matt Cassel).

Field goals.

I think this team is 8-8 or possibly AFC South champions by default. BOB is still head coach, and Deshaun is still a rookie. I wonder when DW makes a mistake, BOB's reaction will be.

If any other coach, this is an, 11-5 team. With BOB? 9-7 if they are lucky.

Gurley Named NFC Offensive Player of the Month

Key has been that McVay is putting him in the "I" with Goff under center. Could not stand how much they ran him on those delays out of the shotgun last year.

Gurley needs to run downhill, not standing there and waiting for the shotgun snap to get to Goff. Then he has to turn and hand it to him. With last year's line, the D was in the backfield before he could even get a head of steam.

Reminded me of how Chip Kelky f'd up DeMarco Murray that year in Philly. Those type guys need to be running towards the line when they get the ball.

SI.com: Rams Are Not Only Good—They're Also Fun to Watch

Maybe we learned different rules (talking to the author). The rule I learned was that if you keep your hands inside the shoulders (from pectoral to pectoral), you're okay (as long as you let go when the defender starts to pull away). If you allow your hands outside of the frame and take the defender to the ground, you're going to get flagged.

Frederick's hands were grasping our DL's jersey on the outside of his shoulders. Our DL tried to pull away, Frederick didn't let go, and both went to the ground. That's a clear as day hold. I even have photo evidence to prove it:

Holding_2.png

Holding_3.png

All Frederick had to do was let go when the defender started to pull away. He didn't. That's textbook holding. I get that Cowboys fans may not understand that because the refs let their OL get away it, but that doesn't make it a bad call.

71, whoever that loser is, is doing a little bit of the same thing in the background there. He's reaching around the body trying to... Uh... Hold him back from making the play. Maybe not as egregious, or maybe not a foul, but I think it's the same/similar.
