Marvin Lewis Gets Extension

Ok, so it's Mike Brown is a cheap ass, Marvin Lewis is fine with it, and Lewis is willing to work at below average HC wage. Good for both of them, I guess. Sucks for the fans.

Basketball teams in Lithuania probably have it better than this:
The Bengals still are skating by without an indoor practice facility. If they’d somehow managed to qualify for the 2017 NFL playoffs, they’d either be outside practicing in temperatures unfit for cross-country skiing or they’d have to beg their way into the University of Cincinnati’s on-campus bubble.
They’re still operating with a scouting staff that wouldn’t suffice for a Division II basketball program. The team currently lists a director of player personnel, three “personnel executives,” one scouting assistant and two consultants in its player personnel department. The Seahawks list 10 scouts in addition to the four people at the top of their player personnel department.

As stated elsewhere:
Brown has a well-documented reputation for refusing to go along with anything that helps the league become bigger and better. His primary concern in those situations is the impact of the new revenue on the salary cap.
So Brown prefers the status quo, especially when the status quo doesn’t require him to spend more money on players. Which sheds light on the willingness of Brown to sign players like Vontaze Burfict, who went undrafted not because of talent — along with the willingness of Brown to remain patient with a head coach who is 0-7 in the playoffs. Regardless of whether the Bengals win or lose in the postseason, being good enough to get there every year is good for business.

Sean McVay Press Conference - 1/2/18

Very impressive. Funny thing though, its 8 minutes into it until he doesn't do the big sniff after a long detailed answer. It's as if he's on coke without doing coke. He also doesn't say uh or "like". There's no pauses in his responses. I'm really interested in seeing his next press conference as it will give us an idea about how he feels this weeks practice went. If hes jacked then, look out.

MMQB's 2017 NFL Awards: Rams get lots of love but Aaron Donald loses out

Fuck benwa balls. And peter k for letting him enter those ridiculous opinions.

I find it interesting that you can be the offensive player of the year yet lose to another offensive player for MVP despite the fact that without Gurley the rams probably dont win the division and maybe even miss the playoffs while grabyourpole would have been capable of getting the patsies a bye and Wilson out performs Brady by kings own criteria for MVP.

I can see a case for Campbell but id prefer to see these awards given after the playoffs because I think that's where the close competition between finalists can see some separation.

Brian Baldinger's Mock Draft: Day 2

Yeah it's disappointing because I figured with McVay's history with TEs and all the guy would be able to come on down the stretch late in the season. But it never happened. And worse is that the TE position overall has underwhelmed given McVay's history with Washington. So I think that the unit will eventually get there, but obviously it won't be this year which is too bad. Because we could have used some TE badassedness in this playoffs to help give us an edge.

What's messed up is I didn't like the pick when it happened, but warmed to it very much after seeing him in camp. Where he did indeed look promising.

Good thing here is McVay knows what he's doing, and especially with the TE position. So who knows, maybe they'll surprise us in the playoffs.

You know I feel the same way. I think a part of that was due to Higbee playing better during the season. That could have stunted his growth a bit (if you will). I would like to see better tight end play next season. If Hemingway is as good as advertised, maybe he can be a difference maker.

Totally agree with you guys.Im glad Higbee has stepped up. Hopefully Everett will next year in his second year and we will have universal TE’s.

I really think McVay loves that TE from Ol Miss last year and he really wanted him.

Power Rankings: 1/3/18

What a difference a year makes.

2016: Oh crap, a screen... only lost 2 yards.

2017: Oh crap! A screen!!! TOUCHDOWN!!!

After last year, I was dead set against ever seeing the Rams run another screen again. Now? I can't wait to see Gurley catch a screen. I'm almost a little deflated if it only goes for 10 yards now...

Carson Palmer Retires

Always thought Palmer was a class act. He took terrible beatings from the Rams and was always classy.

Alien, OTOH, was a jerk and I won't miss him.

That 12th man bandwagon needs to end.
Yeah... they didn't even invent the term... started blowing it out their asses, then got threatened with a law suit by the organization that did invent it (Texas A&M)... then, they settled.

When the Rams beat their asses a few weeks ago, sounded more like the 3rd man. :ROFLMAO:

NFC Wild Card Preview 2018: Why the surprising Rams will advance

I think the writer is wrong in one respect, the Winning margin will be much greater than 10 points!!(y)(y);):D

I hope it's a big fat win.

Like I've said before, after all these years of losing and watching the Rams gets hammered I want some payback, some restitution. I would love to see them cruise through the playoffs obliterating teams with not just that high powered offense, but dominating defense and killer special teams. I'd love every single moment of it.

I would love to see 40-burgers served up to the next 4 opponents. I want this post season to be one that is talked about for years to come.

The future is always uncertain, and the opportunity is in the moment.

Figures...

So, because the Rams coverage is so weak on their flagship radio station (ESPNLA), I usually tune to the opponents flagship station and it's worked out really well... PHI was the best, they were basically Eagles 24/7. SEA was pretty good too.

So I added 92.9 - "The Game" in ATL for the same reason.

Unfortunately, in direct competition with the Rams game this weekend is the College National Championship game to be held at the Mercedes Dome in ATL.

Figures... guess I'll have to take the Rams table scraps on ESPNLA, after they get done drooling all over the NBA.

When Pete Leaves the Dying Seahags...

He actually left the cupboard pretty stacked at USC. In the years he's been gone the Trojans haven't ever had a losing record (closest was a 7-6 Lane Kiffin implosion) and have won double-digit games in four of the eight seasons since he left.

I'm sure he knew the NCAA was going to do something to 'SC but there's no way he could've known those idiots were going to try to destroy the program.
