Kobe Bryant wins an Oscar

Wasn't King Kong about humans freaking with natural order of things, even in places where man hasn't touched?

Speaking of Kong, the 2005 movie and last year's Skull Island were really good.
I would say that is one of a few aspects to the movie. Romance does play a part throughout as well. The movie opens with..."And the Prophet said:
And lo, the beast looked upon the face of beauty.
And it stayed its hand from killing.
And from that day, it was as one dead.
" and it ends with a character saying "It was Beauty who killed the Beast."

To be honest, I didn't care for the remakes. They looked good visually and had a great cast, but it was just flat. The story was long and a little stale, as was some of the acting. I thought John C. Reilly was the only one with energy in Skull Island. Even the action sequences were flat.
Pacific Rim is also about monsters (Japanese), but still monsters. Those are really good too. No forced romance either, not every movie has to have that, and it doesn't automatically make them good. Exhibit A: Twilight.
Twilight isn't a "monster movie", it's a bad teen romance flick based on bad romantic YA novel.

Maybe a dumb question here, but...

No....truly great players make others around them better. Donald makes our defense respectable...
I’d say that he makes our defense great along with other respectable players. I would say this about probably no other defensive player and I’m not even one who values his position as a huge need for most defenses. He showed how important he is. I’d find a way to pay the man.

Rams Have Not Made Decision on Franchise Tag

The first part is a non-sequitor - it's possible that it was a mistake to send a second for him. It's possible that the Rams' situation has changed since sending a second for him, and so it doesn't make sense to spend that much for him. Would they have sent a second if they'd have known that Woods would break out, and Kupp would be an outstanding WR his rookie season?

The full off season argument is getting old. Yes, he'll pick up more (hopefully) this offseason - but it seems that he didn't particularly improve as the season went along, when he should have been learning the offense better and better. There also seems to have been times when he gave up on his routes, which doesn't seem like something a franchise tag level player would do. I'm not sure how McVay sees his learning the system, and whether he feels that Watkins gave up on routes. McVay knows far more about it than any of us. I suspect that while he wants Watkins' talents, given limited resources he may not want to spend $16 million for another year of him.

I do agree that the 2017 Rams' offense was better for having Watkins. I'm not sure that between the likely improved production from TEs, and the improvement of young WRs already on the team, and the possible addition of someone to replace Watkins, that Sammy is going to be more valuable to the team than an upgrade to other positions made possible with the extra cap space.

I'm sure the Rams are negotiating with Watkins and would like to keep him. I'm much less confident that the Rams feel he is worth the franchise tag. It may be the case that Sammy is valuable to the Rams, but is just worth more to another team.
I'm not exited about the possibility of having to spend franchise tag money on him either. I would much rather get a fair deal done.

I do however feel the organization wouldn't have spent a high pick, to rent a veteran WR for 1 year.
I didn't think we would tag Tru for 2 years, but they did just that.

I think Watkins is a Ram in '18.

Sup boys. Gotta new podcast out for y'all from us at Rampage Radio

Listening further on, this podcast was recorded before the Marcus Peters and the Robert Quinn trades (and Tavon Austin cut), we now have cash to sign Trujo. You called him a #2 CB which I don't disagree with, so sign him? I think we can sign Joyner and Watkins AND sign Donald to a long term deal.....What you got?

As far as Tru goes, I’m not opposed to resigning him for the record. But for me, a hometown discount is on order if he “truly loves the Rams”. I’m at about 12M max per season. Otherwise, let’s see what else is out there and/or draft a guy.

Joyner is the main target IMO, you have to lock him up long term. I don’t think this is even a contemplation.

Your right, releasing Quinn gives us 12M in cap and I agree with you. I believe the Rams focus on the “in house” personnel before venturing out on the FA market.

What do we need to do to get to the next level?

Would look as Trumaine Johnson will continue to draw major $$$$

I think Tru ends up signing w/ the hated Whiners. He's from NoCal. Were about to see if winning matters much to him. Or is he all about the mad cheddar

No. But I think if the differential between what he's offered on the FA market and what the Rams are offering aren't too far apart, that maybe his desire to stay in LA (which is real IMO) will help a deal get done.Extreme longshot, of course. Just admitting that it's possible.

ESPN's Rich Cimini reports the Jets have interest in free agent CBs Trumaine Johnson and Malcolm Butler.
New York has also been talking to Morris Claiborne but so far the two sides have been far apart in contract negotiations. The Jets may have reservations about Claiborne's long-term health after battling injuries the past several seasons. Money isn't an issue for the Jets—they have over $90 million in cap space—but Cimini expects Johnson and Butler will both be "highly coveted." Johnson, who is also drawing interest from the 49ers and Raiders, became expendable last week when the Rams acquired Marcus Peters from Kansas City.

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline reports the 49ers are expected to be the Raiders' "main competition" for free agent CB Trumaine Johnson. Pauline reported the Raiders' interest on Tuesday. Walking from the Rams after the team acquired Kansas City's Marcus Peters, Johnson is the market's top corner.

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline reports impending free agent CB Trumaine Johnson is the Raiders' "No. 1 target."
Johnson isn't going back to the Rams after they traded for Marcus Peters. 28-year-old Johnson will get his first bite at free agency after getting franchise-tagged each of the previous two seasons. He'll be the No. 1 corner on the market and should have a variety of suitors. The Raiders are planning to overhaul their cornerback room and have already cut David Amerson, with Sean Smith likely next on the chopping block. Johnson (6'2/213) is a prime press-man corner

NFL expected to pass a rule that prevents another Josh McDaniels situation

Untrue.

Josh McDaniels had accomplices in Bill Bellicheck and Bob Kraft, ie, the Patriots organization. So 1/32nd of the NFL did this. If 1/32nd of the total US population committed an act that the other 31/32nd of the population objected to, would a law/ordinance etc, be inappropriate? My answer would be that it's appropriate.

It's not a legal issue and doesn't require a rule. One coach and his accomplices backed out of an agreement once in several decades. I think there is no need for the rule.

Most likely to reach 1,000 receiving yards next season?

I'm thinking Woods.
Not sure with Watkins yet.
Who know though, maybe the Rams will get Kupp more touches.
Then Gurley out of the back field.
Plenty to look forward to next season.

You were the only one this far to mention the Gurley Man as a receiving threat. We cannot sleep on Todd as a legitimate 1000 yard receiver in this offense . . . especially if Watkins is retained & establishes that ultra important rapport with Jared. Sammy will be attracting possibly even more attention next season as an elite downfield threat, and Robert & Cooper Kupp will be returning as established threats. Sean will have his young TE's causing all kinds of ruckus all over the field, leaving the Gurley Express! as the somewhat 'forgotten' man in the passing game---not because he is truly forgotten nut because he will be often deemed as a much lesser threat than the others. However, we know! that Todd is very capable of taking a short pass and finding ways to run over, around or hurdle over defenders on his way to pay dirt!

Hmmm now Kayvon news too???

My "lecture" wasn't explicitly aimed at you. If you feel you're innocent here, there's no reason to be bothered by it. Relax.
The point here jrry is that you should watch what you are responding to. I have no problem with what you said if it was not quoting me as if I deserved the lecture. You made a pretty silly statement and that was all I was responding to. So don't give me some holier than thou finger wag. If you want to do that - direct it at someone else - or even me if I go that direction. I didn't and I don't appreciate the inference. Again - get off your high horse. I am not one to accept you wagging you finger even in my direction if I don't deserve it.

Dunbar cut???

Dunbar was signed to fill the Chris Thompson role in McVay's offense, he didn't, however, all of us owe Dunbar a debt of gratitude for being injured because IMHO McVay then realized Gurley's ability catching the football and if the Rams had signed someone else, who stayed healthy, Gurley might have been off the field on passing downs.

Billy Price injured at combine

I feel like a dick saying this but I hope he could have a bit of non serious tear so we can pick him up in the 3rd/4th.
As long as it's the truth brotha, who gives a fuck? We didn't cause his peck/biceps to tear....there are worse things that could have happened.

I wonder why that Army guy wasn't there? Toth....he played like he'd test out the roof.

OL and Free Agency

I think in general paying a player before they realize how good they are is a nice strategy... IF you're correct. If not, you get a Tavon contract.

Re: Havenstein the reason he's the most likely target for the Rams to sign this offseason is because OTs are harder to find. And when you consider they need to go get their LT next offseason, it's clear they can't afford to enter that offseason needing bookend tackles as that's a very hard equation to solve in one offseason. Needing a LT and some interior help is also tough, but easier relatively speaking.

I think Jamon Brown is going to get better and better. But he makes more mistakes in spite of the fact he's the more talented player, and he failed when given the opportunity in camp to take the RT position.

Saffold is going to deserve top shelf money. I have no concern with them paying him, but when you look at this group over time letting him walk and retooling looks better to my eye at least.

Rams have two offseasons to solve this thing. It's like 2nd and 15, and they need to get about half the yardage to make the 2019 offseason doable.
I agree with all of this.
Kromer and crew managed to turn a 3rd and 25 into a 2nd and 15 this last year.
