Aaron Donald Trains Against Knives

.

Word is javadeon clowney is getting a 5 year extension at $18m per year.

Were the rams waiting for this contract to get done so they could get a better gauge of the market? And maybe let ad see that maybe he's reaching for something that's not there.

.

I think The Rams have a number. Les said they have money set aside for him. This will be an exciting season.

About that $100-110 million “cap space” for next year...

Why would it come down? If the Rams drop him it is still about 2mil dead money so only save 10mil. He isn't getting paid outrageous money, he is getting market value. You can only replace with a top draft pick or another high cost FA (which means you likely save no $)....and the draft pick is a big risk

Whit is going to be real issue going forward, not in himself or his play, but the fact that you are getting all-pro level play at a very important position...you can save money but it comes with a lot of risk...and sooner or later time will catch him

I am just saying he will likely retire after this year and in 2019 his level of play could be a lot lower than it was in 17'... A lot can happen in 2 years.

I also agree that LT is a huge concern. I really thought McVay would push for a Kolton Miller at 23, but that is obviously not happening now.

Robert Quinn felt betrayed by trade to Dolphins but was suffocating with the Rams

I guess Quinn thought he was all special in the era of free agency. He saw what happened with Chris Long and didn't think it possible that the Rams would say goodbye in the future? He should have followed Long's and James L.'s example in leaving with class. Instead of 19 sacks, I'm gonna remember this more, and that's a d@mn shame.

I'm with you here, Long and Laurinitis we're 2 of my favourite Rams and I was gutted when they were traded, but they both left with dignity and with their heads held high - true professionals, and I still have the utmost respectful them. I remember Chris joking about the fact that his parking spot kept getting closer to the entrance of the training facility, he knew his time as a Ram was up! Unfortunately, Quinn's comments have soured my memory of him as a Ram now, and that's a shame, I wish he would have remained professional about things without these 'jilted girlfriend' comments.

Sports Writing is a Lost Art

It isn't a lost art but it doesn't pay the bills. Sports journalism is no longer about being paid to write a story for a publication that sells its copies. In today's media it's about generating clicks that sell advertising space. If Bayless or Smith says something stupid it'll be reported here. If someone writes a good article it won't get a mention. If they're not paid for sports quality writers will move to a different genre.

This might amuse you: Years ago NFL.com had a free forum section, as did ESPN, CBS, and other sites. 1 of the editors for International Business Times posted on the NFL.com forums that he was recruiting potential sports writers. He wanted posters who would write NFL articles aimed at 'below average to average intelligence' IB Times readers. It wasn't going to generate payment for anyone but it came with the possibility of creating 'name recognition'. It's 21st century journalism in the internet age.

Robert Griffin III signs with Ravens

I'm glad he's back in the game. He had all the tools for a unique type of greatness, but is just to fragile (imo) for that very style unfortunately. Good luck to him--I followed that era of Redskins closely and feel he conducted himself gracefully and got a bum rap with regard to his character. If he had the ability to stay healthy people's opinions would be quite different, I'd imagine.

Vinny on Littleton and Ebukam (re: losing picks with Cooks trade)

Where’s the beef?

Maybe an X’s and O’s guy can explain to me how the Rams are gonna prevent teams from wearing us down with inside runs.

Our NT, Suh, is a svelte 305. Both Littleton and Barron are undersized at about 220-225 or so.

I know we’re ecstatic with all the new additions. But I truly do not understand how we can stop the run without either a wide body NT or a big 240 lb thumper ILB.

Are we telling Littleton to fatten up, or what?
Because Suh is a freakin' monster? He wears down Olinemen down over the course of a game, two at a time.

Sam Bradford to Arizona...

I think getting Bradford was about selling tix and ensuring that Fitzgerald could finish his career with 1st ballot hof stats. He should retire at #2 in receiving yards and #5 in receiving tds if bradford is a healthy start in 10 games. If they were heading into total rebuild mode fitz would have hung them up and the fans would stay home.

Niner Brain Droppings

So we're supposed to believe that Jimmy G. is the second coming of T. Brady? OVER HYPED!

So far as I can tell, he's nothing more than the second coming of C. Kaepernick:

Take a look at these numbers.

The last six games played in a 49ers uniform by new San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo:

67.4 completion percentage
1,565 total yards
Seven touchdowns and 5 interceptions
96.2 passer rating

The last six games played in a 49ers uniform by former San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

65.1 completion percentage
1,305 total yards
Nine touchdowns and 2 interceptions
96.2 passer rating

P.S. The other thing that those numbers tell us, is that there is and has been a coordinated effort to blackball a very capable NFL QB, which is pretty F-ed up in it's own right.
