So Today's My Birthday.

I am at the age where I look for birthday deals online for a birthday meal (sad). I am blessed that I am married and actually enjoy being with her now and for the last 20 years. My daughter and her family care about us, even though they are far away in a country by the Black Sea. I am 54 years old today, the day after I taught my first college class. My life isn't bad, but the end is near.
Dad died at 67 years
Grandpa died at 65 years
G-Grandpa died at 24 years
GG-Grandpa died at 64 years
GGG-Grandpa died at 48 years
GGGG-Grandpa died at 67 years

My Mom is still alive at 78 years, and her Mom lived to be 93 years. I guess it depends on which side I inherit the right genes for long life, or short life. I remember when it seemed that I would live forever, now me and Dave are worried about Senior deals at Long John Silvers..lol

Happy Birthday, brother!

You should get extra time for the Merlin avatar!

It's my mom's bday today as well. She's bringing over some Chinese food and we're gonna get fat and happy on House LoMein....

Hope today's great for you!

Walt's Los Angeles Rams Mock Selections

Coach (Or, Anyone), IF, Orlando Brown is still available when the Rams pick at #87 (I have seen mocks have him being selected in the 1st round and I have seen mocks that have him going much, MUCH lower!) would you select him? I SERIOUSLY doubt that he will be around that long but if he is I think I would have to take him!

Wouldn't be surprised if the Rams have met with him on the down low and trade up for him in the 2nd if he's there.

Honestly, I just can't unwatch his film and think he's as bad as people are portraying him.

Edge Rushers

I’d like to see a combination of a vet pickup (Barwin, Junior Galette) a potential starter drafted round 3/4 (Ejiofor, Sweat, Holland) and depth drafted in round 5/6 (Aruna, Lewis). Noting that Rams will be trading draft picks so many combinations of 3/4/5/6 picks possible.

Champs vs Chumps: Niners review

The adjustments that I made were based on my personal scores that I used while carefully reviewing every Ram game during the season.

I made adjustment to 5 players. Goff because PFF has a strong bias towards
Him. He’s been graded average in games where he had near perfect pass days. His 100 QB rating at a score of
81 shows their bias. I used comps such as Matt Ryan to come up with Goff’s Adjusted score. Placing him in Ryan’s 86 score category. Even though Goff had a way better year by any statistical measure.

Brown, Whitworth and Kupp were adjusted based on my cumulative scores
from each game this year.

Cooks score was based on his statistical efficiency in targets to production vs league comps Mike Evans and AJ Green.

I stated I wouldn’t change any Niner scores even though in some cases their scores are bloated. Look at Sherman or Jimmy G or McKinnon, those grades are projection rather than reality.

Consider this for example of PFF bias:

Jimmy 7 TD 5 int Pff rating 84
Goff 28 TD 7 int. Pff rating 81

Draft Poll

I concur with @jrry32 eight picks are enough to draft Linebackers/Edge Rushers and Offensive Line Depth, with maybe a Safety & RB too.

More than enough imo. Rather than acquire players that are apt to end up on the practice squad, i'm hoping we get an opportunity to trade some of those lower round picks up to secure a higher degree of talent at those positions we all covet for upgrade. jmo.

How does the Rams' depth chart look after the Brandin Cooks trade?

In 2016, the Rams changed cities. In 2017, a new coach. This year, they reshaped their roster.

It’s been a dizzying offseason for the Rams, who stunned the NFL community with a series of trades and signings. In the end — this is the end, isn’t it? — the Rams maintained their strength on offense, made major upgrades on defense and looted their own stash of draft picks to make it happen.

The Rams formally will convene for the first time this month for the start of the optional offseason program, but first a couple introductory ice-breakers might be helpful.

For now, here’s a look at the five major additions the Rams have made since the last week of February:

Brandin Cooks, Receiver

Height: 5-10 Weight: 189

Age: 24

Contract status: Signed through 2018

Acquired: April 3, 2018

The price: Rams traded 2018 first- and sixth-round draft choices to the New England Patriots for Cooks and a 2018 fourth-round choice.

Analysis: When Sammy Watkins left via free agency in mid-March, the Rams publicly indicated they’d feel comfortable with an internal replacement, but really, a move like this needed to get done. Cooks is a speedy field-stretcher and a three-time 1,000-yard receiver whose presence also should open up things for teammates such as Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp. The biggest question about Cooks is whether he has as strong a nose for the endzone as Watkins, who had eight touchdowns in 15 games last season, or Odell Beckham Jr., whom the Rams discussed before they traded for Cooks.

Marcus Peters, Cornerback

Height: 6-0 Weight: 197

Age: 25

Contract status: Signed through 2018 (with team option for 2019)

Acquired: Feb. 23, 2018

The price: Rams traded a 2019 second-round draft choice and a 2018 fourth-round choice to the Kansas City Chiefs for Peters and a 2018 sixth-round choice.

Analysis: It feels as though it’s been eons since the Rams made their first big move, to acquire Peters, but it’s only been six weeks. Peters is a ball hawk, with 19 interceptions in three NFL seasons, and the Rams’ ability to pair him with Aqib Talib means they essentially have two No. 1 cornerbacks and almost never will get caught in mismatch scenarios. The Rams say they’ve done due diligence on Peters’ behavior. He hasn’t been involved in off-field problems but regularly has had on-field issues, including last season when he threw a penalty flag into the stands and walked off the field.

Ndamukong Suh, Defensive lineman

Height: 6-4 Weight: 305

Age: 31

Contract status: Signed through 2018

Acquired: March 26, 2018

The price: A one-year contract reportedly worth $14 million.

Analysis: Nobody saw this one coming. The Rams didn’t seem like a fit for Suh when the Miami Dolphins released him in March, but after visits with New Orleans and Tennessee, Suh agreed to only a one-year contract with the Rams, who sold him on the idea of a dominating partnership with Aaron Donald and a chance at his first Super Bowl championship. Suh might not be as individually dominant as he was a couple years ago, but he’s a run-stopping plug in the middle of the defensive line, which was an issue for the Rams last season, and coordinator Wade Phillips will utilize Suh’s versatility.

Aqib Talib, Cornerback

Height: 6-1 Weight: 205

Age: 32

Contract status: Signed through 2019

Acquired: March 8, 2018

The price: The Rams traded a 2018 fifth-round draft choice to the Denver Broncos for Talib.

Analysis: Talib didn’t exactly deny reports that he vetoed possible trades to other teams and sought to come to the Rams and reunite with Phillips, with whom he won the Super Bowl with Denver two years ago. Talib’s prime years are in the past, but he remains a big-play threat — in the past three seasons, he has returned three of his five interceptions for touchdowns — and he could enjoy a resurgence in 2018. No longer can teams avoid Talib and throw to the other side of the field, as they sometimes did when playing the Broncos, because Peters is there. For all the talk about Talib’s on-field brash behavior, he’s considered a solid locker-room citizen who could help mentor teammates such as Peters.

Sam Shields, Cornerback

Height: 5-11 Weight: 184

Age: 30

Contract status: Signed through 2019

Acquired: March 8, 2018

The price: A one-year contract reportedly worth $1 million.

Analysis: If this works out, the Rams will have extraordinary depth at cornerback, with Peters, Aqib Talib, Nickell Robey-Coleman, Troy Hill and Shields, who made the Pro Bowl in 2014 but whose career has been interrupted by five concussions, the last of which has kept him on the sidelines since the 2016 season opener. Shields recently indicated that he will retire if he suffers one more concussion. Shields, who has 18 interceptions in 80 career regular-season games, has been cleared by doctors and said he no longer experiences symptoms. If healthy, he has starter-level skill.

Something cool or interesting near where you live

After seeing that picture I went to Wiki and read about it.

Wow, that's quite a history..........anyone reading this that sin't aware of the history should go read the highlights because it's fascinating as hell even if you aren't really a history buff.
The tours the yeoman are absolutely fascinating too I’ve done them a couple of them .... they have a chapel called St. Peter ad Vincula where Anne Boleyn ,Catherine Howard and lady Jane grey are buried ..

UFC 223: Khabib vs. Holloway

Dude I’ve been on the Khabib bandwagon for a long long time and happy to see him go for the belt finally being 25-0. Long overdue!! Honestly, I don’t know anybody that could beAt him tbh.

Rose is a good bet, something seems of with Joanna. And it’s hard for me assess my girl fighting Herrig. She’s stout but Herrig seems like a difficult matchup.

If healthy and on weight Kabib stays champ for a long time.
The Tony fight was one of those potential great match ups.

I favour Karolina over Herrig, but Herrig has improved a lot in recent fights.
Close one.

Harv's Barbershop and the Immaculate Reception

It was December 23rd, 1972 when my Dad said "boy, you need a haircut."

We climbed into the two-toned green F-150 that still smelled new inside. I leaned against the truck door and anger kept me as far away from Dad as I could get. It was Southern California in the early 70's, and long hair was in. Dad pulled the truck into a spot near the front of Harv's. The barber pole was painted with red and blue stripes, which passed by my peripheral vision as I walked through the open door. The floors were covered with white square tile, upon which sat bright red barber chairs lined up on the right. Empty chairs for patrons lined up on the left, as I walked by them. At the end of the shot gun styled space, Harv's thin frame leaned against a barber's chair, while watching the small color set mounted in the corner. I stared at the white tiles as I walked toward the chair, and the sounds of the game grew louder.

The 1972 AFC Divisional round game between the Raiders and the Steelers was on the television. Harv said hello and gave his seat a quick wipe with the smock which he'd wrap around me before the deed. Dad must of told the 8 year old me that Harv's arm tattoos meant he was an ex-con, because that's not something that I would have naturally thought. Harv wore an old side swept hairstyle, aided with Brylcream. The wall across from me was covered with mirrors, so I could watch the crime in real time.

"Give him a good haircut," said my Dad.

Yeah, I knew what that meant: a crew cut. The sides of my head would be shaved with a little left on top. I would be getting into more than one fist fight over that haircut in the coming weeks, I was sure. I felt the razor plow into my hair, making my scalp feel cool where it was suddenly bare. I watched it for a while in the mirror across from me, until I heard screams of a crowd coming from the television. Harv stopped his assault, as we watched Terry Bradshaw's desperation pass bounce off a player, coming back five yards to be plucked near the ground by Steeler's RB Franco Harris. Franco ran the ball past desperate defenders to the end-zone for an apparent TD, winning the game in the final moments.

It was amazing. That NFL moment was the subject of an hour long special program on the NFL Network, with the retired players arguing about the games outcome. Without the play, I would never have remembered that moment in the barbers chair with a friendly ex-con from Texas. Harv's Barbershop would be gone a few years later. That two-tone green F-150 truck with a brand new 4-Star Camper would be rolled and totaled on Route 66 in the Summer of '73. My Dad died about 12 years ago, but a small moment with him connected to the Immaculate Reception.

It's funny how the brain works.

What about Josey Jewell?

Jewell doesn't feel like a fit to me. He needs to play the position that Barron will be playing. He is a James Laurinaitis clone with the same strengths and weaknesses. That means incredible instincts, sound tackling, and good zone coverage skills, but it also means an inability to defeat blockers at the POA and limitations in man coverage. Jewell is a better fit in a more zone-heavy defense.

Bonsignore: Rams offseason moves are bold blend of action, reaction and improv

I think there is enough talent to be had late that they might not need to move up in the 2nd rd.

This OT ,Spain guy from N.C.
—OT - Dude from Humblot
—Crosby from Oregon have something to offer at the postion.

OLB — as Barry says come here USC (Nwosu) !!
— this guy from Oklahoma would fit nicely as well !! He has a good motor & makes plays.
His name “OO” or double OO

These guys would fit good with Ebukham. I watched a little bit of the Senior Bowl recently & The Rams will draft at least one of these guys ?? IMO !!

Will see come draft day , but I’m sold on there value. I do think according to how the traffic goes ? There are always going to be a few players worth moving up to get. It’s just how the board is set.

Les Snead does an excellent job at predicting the draft value & working the board !!

The Rams are not afraid to make trades !!

Fear not want not !! The Rams Organization will be prepared & have another successful draft !!

—-Just view how The Rams worked it the last 2 years without a first & basically a 2nd ? (Everett) . Finding JJ & then getting Copper Kupp after him was a surprise & great evaluation.

—Even LA Champ would agree to that now .
I hear you, But I don't think "OO" will be there in the 3rd! There are possibilities and I Trust in 'Wade McSnead'!!(y);):D
