NFL Announces Important Dates In 2018

May 8 -- Deadline for prior club to send "May 8 Tender" to its unsigned Unrestricted Free Agents. If the player has not signed a player contract with a club by July 23 or the first scheduled day of the first NFL training camp, whichever is later, he may negotiate or sign a player contract from that date until the Tuesday following the 10th weekend of the regular season, at 4:00 p.m., New York time, only with his prior club.
 I read this^ and started wondering IF the Rams will make some moves, releasing or signing Players!?o_O

Rams GM hints at urgent extension for Cooks

229, 278,279 that's his year by year tally for carries. Not so bad.

And yeah RB's are available all the time, but not ones with Gurley's level of talent runnung, catching and blocking.

Plus 128 receptions total. That's averaging over 300 times with the ball per year - and it's gone up per season, after his shortened rookie season. It's not that he'll be toast after 7 seasons at that pace, but he'll either have lost a step or likely would soon. I was saying that getting the first 7 seasons from him cheap, and then letting him go (for a pick!) might make sense for a team that has multiple stars to pay, rather than sign him to an expensive extension and have a decent chance of a major cap hit for his decline phase. I'd rather keep him for many reasons, but Snead doesn't have the option of sentimentality if he wants to keep the Rams at the top.

Now that the draft is over, should/will the Rams dip a toe back into the free agency pool?

I've been a Ram fan most of my life, since 1958, and since that time i've never seen a defensive tackle win by himself. I love watching AD play for the Rams, but love watching the Rams more, trading him would be the best for the team.
train

I mostly agree, but trading him wouldn't be my first thought. I think people people fall in love with the players success and then want to overpay the position. If you pay Donald QB money, then IMO you will not be able to sustain a playoff caliber roster.
Food for thought for those that think Donald should be kept at any price ; If Aaron Donald had been drafted by the Patriots, and going into his 4th or 5th season, his agent demanded a new contract in the range of 18-20 Mil per season, what do you think the Patriots would do?

To all -

How do I put this? I goofed this afternoon and took RamsOnDemand offline for a little bit. (Without getting into detail, it might not have impacted every device type... but probably did most).

Everything is back.

My apologies!

Redskins Cheerleader-Gate

All right... this thread is becoming like work. So fuck that.

Maybe we'll update any new info that comes out of this story, but I'm done with the tone... it's too much like politics.

For those of you who haven't had enough already... take it to PMs. I'll thank all of you in advance for not bleeding this over into anything else on the board.

With the 160 pick in the draft the Rams select Obo Okowronko DE

In Their Own Words: Okoronkwo Poised for Success as a Ram
Kristen Lago

Co-Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, Ogbonnia Okoronkwohelped anchor the Sooners defense for the last two seasons. In that stretch, the edge rusher recorded an impressive 162 tackles, 33.0 for loss, and 20.0 sacks.

Based on his resume, Okoronkwo was listed by some as one of the top prospects at outside linebacker heading into this year’s draft. And though he had to wait a bit longer than anticipated to hear his name called by the Rams — who selected him at No. 160 overall — Okoronkwo is eager to prove his worth.

Here is Ogbonnia Okoronkwo in his own words:

On becoming a member of the Rams:

“I was honestly, I was at a loss of words. It felt like a dream. I sort of dozed off a little bit just sitting on the couch, and I woke up to a bunch of people shaking me with a phone in my face. When I got that call, I was a little disoriented, but when I got the call tears just started dropping [especially] when I heard coach Wade Phillips say we’re drafting you.”

On where the Rams told him he fits in on the roster:

“Yeah, they see me as an edge guy who can play linebacker and also like an instant contributor on special teams. I’ll be doing like what Robert Quinn was doing. I see an amazing opportunity with the addition of Ndamukong Suh in the offseason. With him and Aaron Donald both inside like that, that’s an edge rusher’s dream to play in L.A. right now.”

On how he knew it would be the Rams calling:

“I just had a feeling. Every time I would talk to Snead, he just kept telling me that I’m his guy and I just believed him. So, every time the Rams pick came in I made sure I was at the TV watching closely.”

Snead's Schedule Nickname: What Is a The Wade 4-3 Bowl (4 or 5) Mean?

I agree with those who think Les just garbled his numbers.

I don’t think “4-3” had anything to do with defensive alignment.

I think Snead meant to say something like, “Yeah, we’re gonna have 3 or 4 Wade Bowls, or maybe 4 or 5 of them.”

He was just looking for a “Bowl” nickname for every game, and since Wade has coached for so many teams, there would be multiple “Wade Bowls.”

I think he meant to say “3 or 4,” but due to a brain fart it accidentally came out “4-3.”

Think about the context of when he said it. Les is thinking about nicknames, not game strategy.

Fatal flaw for all 32 NFL teams

Our LBs, or lack thereof, are our only real weakness on this team.

But that being said, when was the last time we could point to only one position group and say that?

We'll see, Horns. But it could potentially be a strength.

Barron
Ebukam
Obo
Kiser
Longacre

I think it will be solid, if not a strength. I honestly think Obo will be this years Kupp. In other words, he will emerge as a rookie star. Also, I believe Ebukam will be solid/bordering on a star.

With the front line, along with our backs, the linebackers will be fine.

D'Marco Farr and Myles Simmons analyze the draft

Miles kind of annoying me lately. But good listen. I didn't know the pick the Rams traded up to get Obo was them getting their own 5th back from Denver that they sent for Talib. Kinda funny. So we did technically have one original pick of ours. It just traveled some first.
LOL that's hilarious. Snead is a genius!!!
Ya Farr was getting kinda annoyed with him too, "please make him stop" (after the "oboe" comment) was morbidly funny.

Seahawks release DE Cliff Avril

We were like those who dream....
what a great season. Crushing teams like the Giants and Seahawks. Steamrolling lesser opponents like the Colts. You can hear our guys yelling "woo-hoo-hoo-hooooo!" & having fun. Went down to the wire against the reigning SB champs da Iggles. Going toe-to-toe against great teams like the Vikes & Falcs, narrowly missing our first playoff win in like forever.
This season can't get here soon enough. I tink we now have great talent at every starting position & depth right behind them, with top-notch coaching at many levels & a great GM.
...how long will it last? how can we magically get all our amazing players re-signed like AD & TG & JG & the new guyz BC & MP & etc.?? It's already getting tough seeing guys like AO & TA & Johnson leave.

Rams Biggest Rematch 2018

1 - Claim NFC West Dominance - by putting a beat down on SF twice to reinforce that statement
2 - Establish Home Field advantage - by sealing the deal on PHI who escaped our grasp last year
3 - Claim the NFC Throne - by beating MINN soundly which admittedly dominated the Rams in the 2nd half of last year's game
